Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for 18-year old Chelsea attacker Islam Feruz, who is widely regarded to be 'one of the best young players in the country'.
According to Sky Sports today:
"Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus are all monitoring Feruz's contract situation.
[The clubs] are waiting in the wings to move for the Scotland Under-21 international if he fails to agree the deal on offer from Chelsea"
Blues boss Jose Mourinho included the youngster in the first-team squad for Chelsea's pre-season tour of Asia over summer, and now, Chelsea have offered Feruz a new new five-year contract to secure his future at Stamford Bridge.
Feruz - unflatteringly nicknamed the 'Scottish Wayne Rooney' - signed for Chelsea two years ago, and is a regular for Scotland's U21 team.
The Somalian attacker also played a major part in the Chelsea's march to the final of the NextGen tournament last season, finishing the tournament as joint top scorer with seven goals, including strikes against Barcelona, Juventus and Arsenal.
Last October, €6m-rated Feruz scored a brilliant match-winning hat-trick in Scotland's 4-3 victory over Switzerland, and after the game, his team-mate Lewis Macleod raved:
"Islam is a brilliant player. The three goals he scored were different class. You can see he is an outstanding performer in training. He is key to the team when we play in the Euros. If he keeps playing the way he did in the qualifiers then he has a very big future ahead of him".
Scottish FA performance director Mark Wotte added:
"With the right mind-set and guidance, Islam has the potential to become the next Scotland goal scorer."
Like Raheem Sterling, Feruz looks a little lightweight to me. Indeed, the official Chelsea website describes him as 'Short but sharp with an electric turn of pace and able to get a shot in early'. However, he's clearly got talent and skill.
Should Liverpool make it a hat-trick of Chelsea signings in January...?

I highly doubt Liverpool can offer a contract that Chelsea cannot. Only thing working for us and the likes of Arsenal would be focus on young players.
ReplyDeleteWow they must hate him to give him that nick name. Looks good buy one do we need him seeing as how we have Sterling and Ibe and 2 why would Chelsea sell him to us ? I think sturridge made them take notice of us and Moses could be the same situation
ReplyDeleteWe have Yesil, Morgan and Sergi Canos already. We might need one more youth team ;-)
ReplyDeleteListen you little racist prick, this is a football blog site so why are you leaving racist comments regarding his name, you seriously need a fucking slap you stupid mother fucker , and who the fuck named you kalel ? Your lucky your on the net cos I would seriously smash your fucking skinny face if I knew who you were!!! Prick
ReplyDeleteIslam, Moses, God, JC....it gets better and better. Wait till we sign some really fat guy nicknamed Buddah..or some guy with a lot of arms
ReplyDeleteWill need to lock up the Grandmothers on Merseyside
ReplyDeletelot of legs rather, good one though.
ReplyDeleteIsn't real name Jesus? Also begs the question why we didn't sign re-sign Mohamed sissoko :-)
ReplyDeleteJK, a request, Football Cheats: Ashley Young :)
ReplyDeleteLiverpool stats:
ReplyDelete1) Liverpool are top scorer's in the PL in 2013, 43 goals scored.
2) 8 clean-sheets in the last 10 PL games.
Not bad is it???............... :-)
Very good stats for LFC and we all hope it keeps going! Monday's game will be NICE!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carra 100 percent on this. The biggest travesty though, was pushing Scholes aside. I watched England play France in euro 2004, and couldn't believe Scholes was playing left midfield (he was shit there). Not sure he payed too often after that. What a waste of one of the best players England's ever produced.
ReplyDeleteNot quite sure where Carra backs Lampard over Gerrard here- he says Lampard CAN'T play DM, and that both should play. So the only answer is to put FL up top ,
ReplyDeleteLampard has also been no 1 penalty taker pretty much his entire Chelsea career. That has generated quite a few goals more thatn SG who only took over as undisputed no 1 a few years ago' he didn't for instance take the 3-3 pen in the CL final.
Do you have stats exc penalties JK? That would make interesting reading...
JK.. Request- May we have an article on the role of Lucas at LFC, statistical analysis on his interceptions, pass completion rate, tackles, fouls, key passes and Liverpool's win ratio with and without him over the last one/two seasons, and how these compare with significant competitors either at Liverpool or in the PL (Sandro?).. If at all possible? I'm fed up of people claiming that he's a liability (as Bleachers Report constantly does), without significant proof- when I honestly think that LFC performing at their best is reliant on Lucas being on the pitch! Think it would be an interesting piece to actually debunk what the truth on Lucas is.. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThere's one here:
ReplyDeletehttp://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/pitchside-europe/much-liverpool-renaissance-attributable-lucas-091657074.html
Lucas has been the top tackler in the PL since 2010/11 I believe!!!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed eh!!!
ReplyDeleteWho cares about england?
ReplyDeleteanyway , im not 100% sure but i think we only lost one pl game to west brom when gerrard, lucas and henderson have started together
is that right ? gano or jk
This piece is good; http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/pitchside-europe/much-liverpool-renaissance-attributable-lucas-091657074.html
ReplyDeleteI think the comment has to be moderated because it links another web page though!
ReplyDeleteAlso, does he improve the stats for our defenders (when he's fit)? Skrtel and Agger always seem to look better when he's in good shape.
ReplyDeletein my opinion the best team in terms of attackers is sturridge, aspas, coutinho, henderson, gerrard and lucas
ReplyDeleteI think henderson brings balance to the midfield and so i would pick him over moses plus i would choose aspas rather then suarez
i think he is perfect foil for sturridge a bit like kuyt and torres or like van persie and welbeck
If you were Spanish, he'd be a God.. Would probably burn quite badly though hahaha! ;)
ReplyDeleteross barkley looks a real player why did we not get him?
ReplyDeletei think we should put a cheeky 15m bid
Aspas over Suarez? Suarez was easily one of the vest three players in the premier league last year, whereas Aspas has made an ok start to his Premier league career. Maybe from January we wont have him, but whilst we have Suarez he remains one of our most implant players...
ReplyDeleteI do.
ReplyDeleteNeverton would never sell to us..
ReplyDeleteare lfc really weaker then spurs?
ReplyDeletesuarez vs soldado suarez
sturridge vs lamela sturridge
coutinho vs eriksen coutinho
sterling vs lennon maybe lennon but sterling is in england squad
moses vs chadli moses
henderson vs paulinho paulinho but hendo is improving
aspas vs defoe just defoe
spurs have a bit more depth but they have europa leuge
ReplyDeleteA lot of those which Lampard scored were pens. I'd be interested to know the stats excluding pens
ReplyDeleteWouldn't the same be said about Gerrard? I think Lampard has taken more pens overall but I think the gulf in goals would still be there regardless between the two even with pens not considered.
ReplyDeleteThat part of my worry. What if Lucas goes down like last year? We imploded then and, without a back-up, Im worried. People are calling for an attacking mid in Jan, but we need someone in that DM position to compete with Lucas. Even if its just a back-up player, I know I would sleep a whole lot easier knowing there's backup considering Lucas' recent injury history
ReplyDeleteGerrard is a scorer of great goals, Lampard is a great goalscorer.... simple :) Lampard is the most natural goalscorer from a deep lying midfield birth I've ever seen. He can't play behind the striker/ strikers, he just times his runs to perfection. Gerrard hardly scored when he plays central midfield because he isn't a natural goalscorer from the middle of the park. Play him at right mid or as a second striker however and he's as prolific whether it be scoring or assisting as it gets. It's a shame he doesn't like playing right mid as it's easily his most effective role.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of 'fudging' it. It took us three years of putting up with poor Carra form before we dropped him. For some strange reason he was more of a liabilty when we defended deep under Rafa, Hodgson and kenny than he was whilst playing a high line under BR even though his legs had gone. That one still baffles me.
.......saying that, Sven did better than most (quarter final after quarter final). England have had Cappello one of the greatest managers of his generation and still blamed the manager for Englands crap 'team' failings. The Enlgish mentality is all wrong. They fold under pressure the way Tim Henman and Murray folded in the tennis. Murray got hold of lendal and actually listened and took on board his methods whole heartedly.... didn't do him any harm.
ReplyDeleteNote to the England squad just because you move for 20m or are on £100,000 doesnt mean you're worth it. If some of the best managers in the world can't knit it all together, then the players and their limitations are to blame.
I would like to see the figures without pens
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I'm just too lazy to look them up lol
ReplyDeleteNot if he is in goal :)
ReplyDeleteHappy with Jordan Ibe, if we ever get to see him again.....
ReplyDeleteThey have many times, and us to them.
ReplyDeleteIn the distant past. How many first team players from Everton were signed by us WITH transfer fees? I can't think of any off the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteBarnby, Xavier, come to mind, you have an Irish name Niall so what about Kevin Sheedy, + Gary Ablett, Peter Beardsly from LFC to Everton. in fact LFC have bought more players from Everton than any other Club, and vica versa . I think, but only 95% certain.
ReplyDeleteI said from Everton to LFC. Ablett, Beardsly and the likes were us selling to them. Barmby fair enough, but he didn't exactly set the world alight did he?
ReplyDeleteBarmby was a record fee at the time, Xavier played in the derby against us, and then played for us against them. in the same season.
ReplyDeleteThe fee doesn't guarantee squat... as we of all should know. I get there's examples, but can you imagine Everton selling their biggest prospect to us? I honestly just can't see it. He'll more then likely end up at either United or Chelsea. Watching him earlier today I can see why people are raving about him.
ReplyDeleteHe is a good player, but will never come to Anfield, anyway who would he replace. PS I'm still awake coz i'm waiting for the Mayweather fight.
ReplyDeletehe reminds me of a young Gerrard. Now I'm not saying he'll even be worthy to lace his boots but it's time we start looking for his successor while Gerrard is still playing well so he can learn from a true legend first hand.
ReplyDeleteNo chance in the world we can sign him
ReplyDeleteJaimie, one stat I would like to know is how many of Franks goals and Gerrards were from the penalty spot as I'd like to know how that would affect the decision as both have scored alot from the spot. I would look this up myself but to be honest I'm a lazy bugger lol
ReplyDeleteYou hate England, yet love Liverpool! Why not Celtic? Rangers? Bayern?
ReplyDeleteI support LFC mainly because of the Scottish influence on the club. Just look at the club's history: Liddell, Shankly, Hansen, Souness, Dalglish etc (and many others) - The Scottish influence on LFC is absolutely immense, and it's a great source of pride for many Scots, which is why so many of us are LFC fans.
ReplyDeleteI also follow Livingston, which is my hometown club.
Lampard: 58 pens
ReplyDeleteGerrard: 31 pens
* Gerrard: 128 goals in 634 apps. Goal every 5 games
* Lampard: 184 goals in 809 apps. Goal every 4.3 games

I support Liverpool because of Harry Kewell...and because I thought they were from the suburb of Liverpool in Sydney...lol. And because my friends in primary school were fans.
ReplyDeleteLampard is not fit enough to clean Stevie's boots!
ReplyDeleteStevie G has played CM and AM but Frank has played mainly AM. Look at how devastating Stevie G was with his prolific partnership with Torres!
Stevie G is being wasted by Liverpool and England for that matter. His versatility endeavours him to play DM, but he is far more dangerous as an AM!
