Exciting Liverpool youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira has joined League One side Brentford on a month's loan.
According to the official LFC website:
"Teixeira will spend a month at Griffin Park with Uwe Rosler's Brentford, before returning to the Reds' Kirkby Academy in October".
Teixeira is 20 years old now, so hopefully, this is a sign that Rodgers is planning to promote the him to the first team at some point this season.
Suso and Raheem Sterling were both younger than Teixeira when they made their first team debuts, but to be fair, the the Portuguese U20 star has struggled with injury during his time at the Academy.
Indeed, in a recent interview, Academy director Frank McParland revealed the extent of the youngster's injury. He told the Daily Mail:
“When we got to the medical his back was in a seriously bad way. We questioned going ahead with it but he was worth the risk. He was put in a back brace for six months".
Despite the injury setback, McParland is convinced that Teixeira will make it at Liverpool:
“After some fantastic work by the physios he is starting to play again. He is going to be a top, top player".
Let's hope so!

at last the boy needs a confidence boost, he should have been made a lynchpin of the reserve team, we have let him down.
ReplyDeletewhats the point of buying theese foreigners like adorgan ,silva, nebeth,de la valle, wilson etc
ReplyDeleteif you are going to only loan them only suso has made it
theese foreigners are blocking ross barkley , rooney and rodwell
our own ones
ReplyDeleteJust saw this on the Brentford website and they say loan id to Jan 2014. Either way I think this will be first of several loan arrangements.
ReplyDeleteWhere is ANTEATER, anyone?
ReplyDeleteGood for the lad to gain some experience. Even better that he is being loaned to a league team in UK.
ReplyDeleteive decided to sell my ticket for the anfield hype train....im not sure any of these guys will make it like.....football is getting a younger and younger game for me if you aint ready at 20 chances are you never will be
ReplyDeletethese no point ...and it doent help promoting them as the next pele when the reality is pacheco and co where very average
ReplyDeleteIt's different with central midfielders, usually even the very best don't get going until their early-mid 20s.
ReplyDeleteRickie Lambert ain't doing to badly at 31!
ReplyDeletehe was never hyped ...thats whats funny ....the unhyped leave and do better than the hyped ones
ReplyDeleteAnteater doesnt post on here much nowadays mate.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he only ever played Wolves and West Brom :-) I don't think he'll make it to be honest. He's fallen behind because of his injury and there are too many ahead of him in the queue now. That's ok, not all youngsters can go into the first team but it does show how silly it is to buy a player based on just one game he's played against us.
ReplyDeleteProbably because Rooney, Barkley and Rodwell went to Everton? Anyway, for every Pacheco there is a Greg Lindfield, for every Dalavalle there is a Paul Anderson and for every Ayala there is a Jack Hobbs. Nationality has nothing to do with it. I agree, our academy should have enough English talent in it and we should always scout our backyard but at the end of the day it should basically just contain very talented youngsters, no matter where they are from. I did a quick check and right now our reserves squad holds 20 British players against 12 foreigners and I've included Texeira in that.
ReplyDeleteHi, Anteater seems to be lost and I keep getting banned ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, LFC have let him down? By taking a gamble on him after finding out the true nature of his back during a medical, we let him down? By working with him with our top class physio dept and having him in a back brace for 6 months, we let him down? JAESUS! LFC still believes in this kid and are loaning him out to blood him against older and physical players in the lower leagues. LFC is still keeping their end of the bargain and paying him a better wage to boot than what he would be receiving at Sporting Lisbon. Remember, he is 20 years old. We were able to build up Lucas and Martin Kelly (1/2 dozen times at least). It is up to Teixeira to not let himself down.
ReplyDeleteHope those bans are deserved at least..
ReplyDeletehaha,
