Done Deal: LFC sign €8m-rated La Liga star. UPDATED with new info. Willian next...?

Liverpool have reportedly finalised a deal to sign Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho.

Speaking to reporters last week, €8m-rated Cissokho told Le 10 Sport:

"Liverpool have made me an offer and I have reached an agreement with them.

"It is now up to the clubs to agree terms. I expect to know more later this week.

"If nothing happens this week, it probably means that I will not be going to Liverpool".

The conflict at the heart of the deal seemed to be the nature of the transfer. Cissokho explained:

"The conditions of the transfer are the problem. Liverpool prefer a loan deal with an option to buy, while Valencia want to sell straight away"

Well, according to an 11:06pm entry on Sky Sports' transfer clockwatch:

 photo ScreenShot2013-08-16at012149_zps8695f81e.png

UPDATE 1: Friday 9am - Spanish newspaper Marca also confirms that the deal is on.

UPDATE 2: Friday 10:15am - Valencia-based newspaper SuperDeporte has also confirmed the deal. It reports that:

* LFC sealed the deal on Thursday night.
* The loan fee for the first year is €1m.
* After the loan year is up, LFC have an option to buy for €4m.

Cissokho first acknowledged Liverpool's interest in March, when he told French newspaper Le Parisien:

"I've never hidden the fact that the English league is the one that attracts me the most. It's pleasing to see my name linked to Liverpool. They're a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt"

There will probably be some kind of loan fee involved, but this seems to be quite a bargain overall. Jose Enrique needs competition, but if the deal goes pear-shaped, there's no real financial loss to the club.

Now, time to focus on signing Willian...

Liverpool have now bought 2 left backs and we think we are in the champions league?

  2. good deal, no risk, and a good player overall - exactly the sort of competition for enrique many of us have been waiting for so long! lets get another winger and probably a new CB and were definitely fit for the season :)

  3. Jamie mate are you still Up ? That is great news ! strengthens the squad and i have woken up ( i live in Taipei ) to read Willian wants to move to us !!! This could be a great end to a torturous summer. Keep up the good work mate it is appreciated

  4. Also as a side point how nice is it to see players talking up the club ! both cissokho and Willian talking about what a big club we are and that not just any player can play for Liverpool those are the players we want !

    ReplyDelete
  5. We should throw Skrtel in as a sweetner for the Willian deal... that way we still have more funds for transfers. Anyone know whats happening with Coates??

    ReplyDelete
  6. What a good idea . We now have more cover if Skrtyl goes, but I still want Papa to be signed, Coates can go.
Willian will make the difference, seen a bit more of him and he should do very well.

Arh I don't mind they (Granada) move the post for siqueira from 5.5 to 12 million. If willian signs then il be one happy guy!!!:)

    ReplyDelete
  12. A proper Legend ! and the best Rapper ! although ... looks like rush has left it late but could be challenging Barnes after joining the Wu-Tang Clan

    ReplyDelete
  13. VALENCIA are letting him go on loan for a reason. He's not the player that at PORTO showed signs of being one of the best in the world. Is he better than ENRIQUE? I would say no, this is a low risk cover signing not competition.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Liverpool's history is no doubt a powerhouse. It's good to hear players showing us the respect and as fans we are happy they say these things. However, I have become skeptical after players like Torres and Suarez take a u-turn from their attitudes. Besides talk, they need to walk the walk and show loyalty if they really mean it! Actually the truth is we will never know what they truly feel until they suddenly decide one day to leave the club and will have a million reasons to go...

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would have preferred siqueira..

    ReplyDelete
  16. yh same reason why they sold soldado they have no money

    ReplyDelete
  17. we haven't signed him so how is it great news ,i am sure i read last week rogers come out and say , there is no truth in it , i read yesterday ian ayre had flown out to spain to sign another left back , i seem to read alot of reports that players are on their way to us , but it never comes to fruition , i thought the purpose of this window was to add depth to the squad , we have released more players than have come in lol , ian ayre needs to get on his bike and stop dilly daddling and get the players in we need

    ReplyDelete
  18. Potential is the word that comes to mind when i think of cissokho.
a few years ago alot of people (myself included) thought we missed a trick not signing him but he hasnt lit the world on fire in that time so hopefully he is more suited to the english game and we can get the best out of him.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Lol. How can you write shit over and over again man. I read your articles a few times. Am sure you are just a lost and miserable soul who just write shit. Seriously. How did you get such an info!! You should better stick to reading

    ReplyDelete
  20. So now we're NOT signing the Brazilian guy? Even though two days ago that was as certain as this? It takes them a month to finalise this transfer and you guys think we're going to snap up Willian? It must be great living in your world...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't understand the point of this story as it tells us NOWT -and as for William - NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER unless YOU KNOW WHO IS FINALLY OFF

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good point VALENCIA like most clubs in Spain are struggling financially. In this transfer window SEVILLA's squad has been decimated. The country is in bad shape and football is suffering.
However selling your best player SOLDADO for 26m and letting a left back go out on loan is completely different.Getting CISSOKHO off the wage bill for a year?
It would make sense if he was a top earner on big money and you felt you had better footballing options. But he's wages are not even in the top 10 earners at VALENCIA.
Anyway moving away from left backs.I want to see a quality player arrive. Not a loan deal or a unknown or a free transfer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Absolutely. He looks the real deal to me. Hope he gets sufficient playing time

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought this deal was off

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cissokho, Willian, Shaquiri, Papadopoulos and Diame is what we need to buy!
    Sell: Coates, Skrtel, Robinson, Borini

    ReplyDelete
  26. SSN reporting Manu gonna bid for Willian,

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cissoko is not an upgrade on Enrique, back up/squad player.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anzhi needs cash not a swap deal, am sure about it. The owner has lost lot of money in stocks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pretty sure that the story was that they want to get rid of the foreigners, more than anything else...

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's nice to see Liverpool taking advantage of one of these no risk transfers that we keep offering to other clubs :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jamie, according to your theory on transfers, Arsenal have signed Suarez. ??
Just because a player has reached an agreement with a club it is does not mean he has been signed. Your headline clearly says LFC "SIGN" La Liga star. It should read "LFC reach agreement with La Liga star".

I have always thought you are at the forefront of giving us breaking news but his interview is over a week old.
I am tired of people putting up misleading headlines just to get hits on their websites. Very disappointed Jamie.
YOU HAVE PERMANENTLY LOST AN AVID FOLLOWER ON YOUR SITE as I feel this kind of reporting shows a lack of respect to us supporters .
I truly hope there are others like me who feel the same and are tired of misleading headlines.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Would've preferred the Granada LB over Cissokho, #notexcited :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. Great news??. More like NO news. Where does it say the player has signed? Quoting an old interview and putting a misleading headline is a cheap way of getting more hits on your website. Us fans deserve more respect Jamie.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No, They sold 4 Russian players already, including Zhirkov.

    ReplyDelete
  35. great to see you have a dont really care option on your votes ,i thought we were done with squad players ,if this is a marquee signing fsg can keep them

    ReplyDelete
  36. coates was bought for no other reason than to keep suarez happy - we could have got cahill for the same amount. so we should add that if we sell suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  37. cool, guess I read that one wrong then.

MaybeWillian will be available for less than he signed for then!

    ReplyDelete
  38. by all reports they knocked back the fee we offered ...so we have gone for this guy......so in effect its rogers second choice

    ReplyDelete
  39. the problem with that m8 is the two best players in it more than likely wont be there

    ReplyDelete
  40. its the only way jamie can link a '' marquee signing '' in the headline from a realistic standpoint it should have said sinclair next

    ReplyDelete
  41. it is off it stinks

    ReplyDelete
  42. you can only offer a player if that club wants them

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am a bit confused now. 10 hours back, I read somewhere from a "reliable source" Sequiera deal is 80% done, now it looks Cissokho deal done. Are we really signing anyone or just beating about the bush?

However, if both comes & Enrique leaves, I 'll be more happy (Off-loading of another unworthy KK signing)

    ReplyDelete
  44. swapping cissokho for jose thats gonna really turn the club around....dont be surprised if this '' unworthy kk signing '' doesn't give this guy a game

    ReplyDelete
  45. Will only believe the signing when LFC confirms it. There have been too many false starts this transfer period. Everyone who reports a signing seems to a reliable source but it always turn out to be false. We read that the Sequiera transfer will be completed within the next 48hours and it has now passed 48hrs and apparently the deal went cold with a huge gap in transfer price of 5m vs 12m. Same with the Willian deal. Will only believe when he actually signs.

In the meanwhile, lets not get overly excited over all these reports.

    ReplyDelete
  46. fsg must be panicking as by all accounts willian wants to join liverpool ...if he wants to come to us and we '' have the money '' and rogers wants him whats the problem

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well you can't expect to get the best performer for their position from a league for a price of anything near 5m IMO. Wish they make a lot more effort to get the first choice players signed for club rather 4th or 5th choices.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd be very disappointed in LFC if we don't sign Willian after he has clearly made a come and get me plea for LFC specifically. He himself knows that the chances at LFC are better to make a comeback in the national squad. Don't take a pinch of salt though, go with bucket load of salt.

    ReplyDelete
  49. we have wasted money this summer ,if we had kept pepe ,got toure for free, and not bothered with the other signings, for a few million more we could have had eriksen and alderweireld, amd our net spend would still be practically zero,i know which players i would rather have signed ,and who would, have given us a better chance of moving forward ,and before fans say we have coutinho, surely eriksen could have done the allen role of keeping possesion ,and would have chipped in with way more goals and assists

    ReplyDelete
  50. Willian will talk up our club until we stall on a deal and a Champions League club comes in for him. I am sure Willian will not happen, please prove me wrong though

    ReplyDelete
  51. The season hasn't even started yet and you're saying the club has wasted money? Once again, negativity with no discernible point or credible reasoning. How can you say money is wasted when the season hasn't started? How can money be wasted when:

    * Aspas scored/created 7 goals in pre-season
    * Mignolet kept 6 clean sheets out of 7
    * Toure helped the defence keep clean sheets.
    * Alberto scored during pre-season.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 4-4-2 won't happen

    ReplyDelete
  53. I wouldn't say we have wasted money, we have strengthened the squad, but we need to strengthen the team. If this is our final squad I will well and truly disappointed! I would also be very sceptical of 4th place, or even a top 6 finish

    ReplyDelete
  54. I get what your saying. This will imo, probably end up like the( what's his name?) transfer, earlier this window. not enough urgency to get the deal done. Hopefully willian signs and we can stop questioning the ambition being showed..

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jojo - with respect, why don't you read the article properly because, clearly, you haven't.

You seem to have completely missed the image which shows Sky Sports reporting that LFC have finalised a deal for Cissokho.

Sky Sports is a credible and often accurate source, and 'finalised a deal' means that the deal is done.

The article is not based on Cissokho's quote about 'reaching agreement' - that is there to provide *context* to the story, and to show the progression of the deal.

It really is amazing how people just don't seem to be able to read things properly these days.

    ReplyDelete
  56. By wasting money he means that we didn't sign many well established or first choice players that are supposed to give a little hope to the fans that LFC might make a challenge at the the top 4 because looking at the current squad I don't think there's much depth in it because the equal amount of players have been shipped out and also the quality hasn't drastically improved over this window.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The fact that LFC have not signed 'well established' players does not mean money has been wasted. The transfer window still has two weeks to run.

    ReplyDelete
  58. But there were better buys from the same price or if you see. Look at Bony for example, myself and many other fans think that he'd have been the guy to score goals for us when Suarez leaves or is suspended as usual. Then there was Wanyama who I think would've added depth as well as quality and there was also Lovren for the CB position at a knocked down rate, All those players have better stats than the players that LFC have signed this summer barring Mignolet because I think he's an upgrade over Reina with a lot more potential.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I agree with you - Bony and Wanyama would've been great buys, but just because LFC didn't get them doesn't mean the signings brought in are a waste of money.

Also, how can Wanyama/Lovren - defenders - have better stats than Aspas and Alberto?

As for Bony - he scored a lot of goals last season, but the Eredivisie is a comparatively poor league. Aspas got lots of goals/assists in La Liga, which is superior in quality.

Additionally, Bony great season is the exception, not the rule. Every other year of his career he's struggled to get over 15 goals. In fact, only twice in 8 years did he score more than 15 goals in one season.

    ReplyDelete
  60. there is a point the two players i mentioned would have been better ,signings imo ,we need a centerback and eriksen is better than we have bought ,mignolet was not needed urgently who to say pepe would not have 7 clean sheets ,if he had, alderweireld playing infront of him ,and please come on,how many fans would have rather have had aspas over eriksen given the choice ,i said the other week he will struggle in the prem ,and lawro said it yesterday, and who is to say aspas is not borinins replacement ,he cannot even get a game in the last few friendlys ,slipping even further down the pecking order, come to tommow i know which players i would rather have starting ,and its the two lads from ajax

    ReplyDelete
  61. rodgers dose not do established players ,he will keep trying to uneart a gem who we have hardly heard of ,and that will prove is downfall yes he will have success eg coutinho ,but the majority will turn out to be duds ,

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think defensively, this guy and Enrique are pretty much of a similar standard, where Cissokho is a definite upgrade IMO is in his passing and crossing and overall decision making in the final third. If we do sign him and it is a big if, I think he'll surprise a few.

    ReplyDelete
  63. you are right rodgers has never had time for kennys signings ,hes tried to get rid of everyone of them even the ones who have out performed his own signings ,lets have a look at borini he cannot even get a game preseason now ,i do not see rodgers trying to get rid of him ,

    ReplyDelete
  64. i would not have him for 30 million ,complete panic buy

    ReplyDelete
  65. liverpool4life5659:57 am, August 16, 2013

How do you know they be duds? The signings he has done have made a impact already. Proving we should trust him. Also he targeted established players this window. So your theory is false.

    ReplyDelete
  66. facts m8 facts we are supposed to have targeted the two lads at ajax at one stage (just as much as hk and the rest)they are still there ,it is all hear say,for all you know rodgers may have signed every player he wanted or was allowed to get upto now

    ReplyDelete
  67. liverpool4life56510:00 am, August 16, 2013

Another post making digs at FSG which are unfounded. Have you seen their track record in America? And England? For buying players. Think you should.

    ReplyDelete
  68. do they have a football team in the usa ,i thought not they may no something about baseball you could write on the back of a stamp what they know about socccccer

    ReplyDelete
  69. liverpool4life56510:02 am, August 16, 2013

We already have 4 CBs If one leaves then we can sign another, also Ericsson isn't LW player Rodgers is looking for he a CAM which we all ready have in coutinho.

    ReplyDelete
  70. coutinho plays out on the left when allen plays m8

    ReplyDelete
  71. What 'facts'? LFC being linked to Alderweireld and Eriksen is not a fact; like every transfer rumour, it's speculation.

    ReplyDelete
  72. If LFC had signed the two Ajax players you'd almost certainly be moaning about them now too.

    ReplyDelete
  73. liverpool4life56510:04 am, August 16, 2013

Allen won't play he be on the bench, what has BR said? I want to bring in a left sided attacker so I can bring young coutinho into the centre.

    ReplyDelete
  74. ill still be supporting lfc m8 when fsg are a distant memory

    ReplyDelete
  75. jaimie i said supposed to have (just as we are supposed to have been after hk and the others)i said its all hearsay,so what is your point

    ReplyDelete
  76. liverpool4life56510:06 am, August 16, 2013

Baseball you still buy players, which are more expensive wages are more expensive too. Also under FSG our we've broke our spending record twice. And it be broken again if willian signs.

    ReplyDelete
  77. allen and borini are damp squibs if we are talking duds

    ReplyDelete
  78. Iam as pissed off with lfc,s fortunes as anybody but how about a bit of optimism before the big kick off, reading a lot of the posts on this site is like visiting a morgue! Will bet anyone that barring injury aspas will get into double figures for us this season. The crows are circling waiting for a bad result against Stoke.

    ReplyDelete
  79. liverpool4life56510:08 am, August 16, 2013

Allen has proven to be back fitter and looks good again hardly a dud, borini has been unlucky. Also this was BEFORE the committee came into place :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. liverpool4life56510:09 am, August 16, 2013

So you say things which are unfounded and false to make your time more happier? I don't get that preset strange,

    ReplyDelete
  81. correctamonday if you say so ,we all know you cannot be wrong ,so to save argument yes i would just like i have moaned about suarez and hendo and gerrard and lucas and various other players all season ,i moan about fsg rodgers ,and the players who imo are not now and neverwill be worthy of the shirt, saying that the way the clubs going they may well be ,

    ReplyDelete
  82. dont worry m8 its a non starter and if im being honest there are better players out there to spend money on who we need..the only plus point of the willian deal is he seems to be a player who wants to sign for liverpool ...well thats until he meets ayre and rogers then it will all go pear shaped

    ReplyDelete
  83. the comitte which signed these must have been the wheel tappers and shunters club

    ReplyDelete
  84. In your post, you quite clearly state 'facts'. I asked you 'what facts'. Your interminable, pointless negativity is really wearing thin. All views are welcome here, but as the site update above states, 99% of the time, you just engage in ceaseless negativity with no point or reasoning. Every article posted you interject with negative, sarcastic, dismissive, non-constructive comments, usually dissing Rodgers in some way. As I said, it's wearing thin.

    ReplyDelete
  85. liverpool4life56510:16 am, August 16, 2013

If we don't sign a marquee signing Jason's Moans, if we do try Jason's moans. When are you happy? Never?, willian will be great buy if it happens, we want him, he wants us, we are currently in talks, FSG are on bored and willing to pay the price for him

    ReplyDelete
  86. so what 5 of our top seven dearest players were bought under hicks and gillet

    ReplyDelete
  87. liverpool4life56510:16 am, August 16, 2013

    Better players like who?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Competition is imperative to push the player to new heights. Enrique needs that. However Cissokho is not the wonderful talent he used to be. He never fulfilled his potential.
Well he is still only 25 so he has time. Hopefully he comes to us and blows us away. So does that mean Siqueira is off the radar?
As for Willian...reports are saying United made a last min enquiry so if that's true and they are willing to pay for him then we have no chance.
It's nice he mentioned us as a club he would like to go but I am sure he is keeping his options open.
Let us not hold our breath.

    ReplyDelete
  89. liverpool4life56510:20 am, August 16, 2013

They brought us with a loan. No one cares what they did. Also FSG are better owners running us properly, not screwing us over.

    ReplyDelete
  90. If we signed Messi and Ronaldo, went on to win the domestic treble breaking every reconrd there is Carr71 would still complain lol

    ReplyDelete
  91. That's how I feel. He would only come to us if there are no other clubs in the running. Let's hope not.
Him on the left wing, Coutinho would be dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  92. come on jamie there are very few true facts in football...a fact in footballing terms is usually about 50 per cent of the truth....you can more or less less state as fact that liverpool are interested in all players ....its just to what extent your judging the interest....its a question of semantics and intent........from a neutral perspective its safe to say all clubs are interested in all players available thats a pretty believable fact...the fact becomes diluted if you like when trasfer fees, wages.tec come into play

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yes, I agree with that, but when someone cites 'facts' in their comment, then they should be prepared to be challenged on it. The same applies to me: if I state 'this is a fact' in an article/comment, then if I don't provide evidence for that fact, then people have every right to challenge me.

    ReplyDelete
  94. not so much better players but positions i think we need to cover...if we are to play tino in midfield which rogers alludes to IMO we need a bona fida defensive midfielder of the highest quality

    ReplyDelete
  95. We're not going to buy a defensive midfielder, regardless of what else happens. I've long since given up on that dream - we just have to keep our fingers crossed that Lucas stays fit and hits top form throughout the entire season.

    ReplyDelete
  96. if we get linked to a marquee signing you say hes signing ,and jump all over it like a granny on acid ,and then when he dose not sign you back track and disappear for a day or two ,just like after every bad result last season ,

    ReplyDelete
  97. At the moment I wouldn't take too much stock in anything the British press report at the moment.

As we approach the end of the transfer market they seem to report more and more crap.

I mean at this point Bale should of sign for Real, Rooney for Chelsea, Suarez for Arsenal, Fabregas for Utd and we should of signed about 30 players by now !!!

I mean just look at the whole Suarez rumor a few days ago.

Some papers were at the same time that he was staying and that he denied he was staying.

    Talk about contradicting yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  98. liverpool4life56510:28 am, August 16, 2013

well we are not going to sign a CDM. Unless Allen or Lucas leaves. Willian deals suits us, attacking threat on the Left, enables us to bring coutinho into the middle.

    ReplyDelete
  99. tbf Dalglish's signings were pretty poor.

Suarez (not really a Dalglish signing, but still...) and Henderson are still going strong though, and Downing and Enrique were given plenty of starts last year also...

    ReplyDelete
  100. i can safely state as fact that rogers has looked at the two ajax players with a view to buy...that fact loses its validity once wages, fees suitability to system come into play.....

    ReplyDelete
  101. liverpool4life56510:29 am, August 16, 2013

When did I say anyone was going to sign?:) I always put IF. And when have I disappeared? Jason if you have to make things up to make your points then you might aswell just don't bother writing a reply. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  102. liverpool4life56510:32 am, August 16, 2013

How do you know we even made a offer? To buy them, we MIGHT have scouted them but that's it, nothing more In it.

    ReplyDelete
  103. but the point is they out performed rodgers summer signings

    ReplyDelete
  104. but coutiho only plays in the middle if allen is not on the pitch, and we all know allen will start tomorrow ,

    ReplyDelete
  105. liverpool4life56510:37 am, August 16, 2013

They had a YEAR to settle in what do you expect?

    ReplyDelete
  106. me to m8 and when they go i hope they take a few fans with them

    ReplyDelete
  107. liverpool4life56510:39 am, August 16, 2013

Until we sign a LW then yes that will happen but when the LW comes in, Allen dropped to the bench coutinho in middle.

    ReplyDelete
  108. allen was bought from a club down the road ,he had supposed prem experience they are no excuses ,if every player needs a year to settle in we can forget this season as well ,maybe thats why we have only signed squad players so they are no excuses

    ReplyDelete
  109. allen dropped to the bench you been smoking the same stuff as arsenal

    ReplyDelete
  110. liverpool4life56510:44 am, August 16, 2013

Again you make things up to suit your argument, Allen has been on the bench before, even in pre season, we will have options to change the team around next season. Allen won't play that much maybe in the cups, but if he does well then he deserves his chance.

    ReplyDelete
  111. and you would still snipe and post drivel

    ReplyDelete
  112. allen will start every game m8 unless his form resembles the absolute shambols of a player he looked like towards the end of his season last year he will start ,

    ReplyDelete
  113. Sturridge and Coutinho MASSIVELY outperformed all of Dalglish's signings, and they were only signed in January.

    ReplyDelete
  114. after fsg what other players/manager have made the greatest impact on lfc in your opinion

    ReplyDelete
  115. jaimie i did say summer signings

    ReplyDelete
  116. liverpool4life56510:59 am, August 16, 2013

Rodgers and coutinho:) Rodgers for getting rid of the rubbish from KK era. And coutinho for his sublime skill:)

    ReplyDelete
  117. it is jamie its just a question of semantics....there is IMO a good mathematical probability that BR or whoever oversees the transfer dealings at Liverpool will have looked at these two players with a view to buy if they haven't then you would have to say what are they doing because as a norm i would expect them to be looking at all quality players who become available

    ReplyDelete
  118. liverpool4life56511:00 am, August 16, 2013

You said KK signings done better but when they first came they struggled. That's why I said they had a year to settle.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Yes, I agree the probability is high, but it's not a fact.

    ReplyDelete
  120. sucks doesn't it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  121. I wonder how much Granada wanted for Siqueira

    ReplyDelete
  122. liverpool4life56511:26 am, August 16, 2013

    12 million :)

    ReplyDelete
  123. tbf, Rodgers shipped Sahin straight back out and Borini & Assaidi looks like they'll struggle to make it much further at LFC.

Sturridge and Coutinho are both comfortably better than anything that Dalglish brought in, and so it's only Allen really, who remains in direct competition with Henderson for the central midfield berth.

So it looks like Rodgers doesn't have too much favouritism in regards to choosing his own signings over anybody else from what I can see.

    ReplyDelete
  124. liverpool4life56511:45 am, August 16, 2013

He lost half a billion in a company which helped him run his club he needs to get rid of players

    ReplyDelete
  125. Ah ok, if so, that is a bit much then for him and I can put away my FSG-is-being-too-hardball-again gun :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. liverpool4life56511:52 am, August 16, 2013

Agreed, they were supposed to be happy with 5.5 million then Real Madrid then got involved that's why they increased the value, but I'm happy with cissohko, would be decent competition for erinque, next signing Willian then il be happy!:)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Such a pathetic comment. You've been complaining we haven't tried for big signings, then you said we didn't even try for Mhkitaryan now you're saying FSG are panicking over Willian. If they didn't want to get him, why enter into negotiation?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Not really - Sturridge and Coutinho have clearly outperformed any of Dalglish's signings (even with the over the top fawning at Henderson's end of season form).

It's only Allen that remains up for debate, with Henderson fighting him for that central midfield birth. Rodgers recognised his own mistakes from his first window and shipped Sahin back out at the first opportunity, barely gave Assaidi a look in and looks to have relegated Borini to bench duty, so it doesn't really look like favouritism to me. Dalglish just made some very poor signings, for very big money, so his players had to move on in order for the club to move forwards

    ReplyDelete
  129. Please, BR did not get all the players on free transfer. He did spend reasonable amount of money on them. As a fan, of course I hope to see established players signing for us but I don't not know the actual ground situation. So I cannot specifically point out why we missed many supposedly established players.

Anyway, the definition of 'established players' is vague. Are Wilfried Bony and Victor Wanyama established players in your opinion? Also not forgetting we don't offer Champions League to those established players. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a good example. If we are in the Champions League, I don't think he will choose Dortmund over us. Be honest, how many of us fans really rate him before his name was link to LFC.

Your constant pessimism, slating of FSG & BR and idolizing of KD is out of the world. I have nothing more to add.

    ReplyDelete
  130. How is he a panic buy?
He only became available after the Anzi chairman lost all that money, they TURNED DOWN £34m from Man City only months ago. He was bought for £30m less than a year ago and put Chelsea out of the CL
Andy Carroll. That's what you call a panic buy. Only KD/DC thought he was worth £35m NOBODY else did, or bid anything like it.

    ReplyDelete
  131. i never said we made an offer ..i said there was a mathematical probability we where interested in them

    ReplyDelete
  132. It's a real joke. These guys ( gilstrap and JC) have been forever saying why didn't we get a player eg Martinez when he was cheap? That's with hindsight after they become £20m+ players a season or so later.
Now, when we try, see Coutinho/Aspas/Alberto etc
they complain that they're squad/ low cost signings, where's the marquee signing, FSG won't buy a top player.
THEN, when we do go after one, they STILL complain. JC even said it was a panic buy, and Gilstrap says no way will we really try.
    Moan moan moan....

    ReplyDelete
  133. The risk with well established is considered to be less than then unknowns. Don't you think that?

    ReplyDelete
  134. liverpool4life56512:20 pm, August 16, 2013

So? We are interested in alot of players doesn't mean we will sign them.

    ReplyDelete
  135. you have to aim high or complacency sets in...we have gone from champions to challengers to be ecstatic for top 4 ...the next step in trying to break into the top 6 to mid table to relegated

    ReplyDelete
  136. Eriksen was spouted at £18-20m and Alderweireld at £12-15m at the beginning of the summer.
NO top sides have bought them. prices for both have dropped, halved in one case. Still no top sides.
Eriksen NOW says he will ONLY go to a CL side, contradicting what he said several times earlier.
    Why no top side bids?

    ReplyDelete
  137. hoW do you define entering negotiations...is it sounding out his agent Or going to Russia with a suitcase full of rubles with an intent to buy '' IM SPEAKING FIGURATIVELY ''

    ReplyDelete
  138. well you know what they say ....the moan the merrier

    ReplyDelete
  139. You never moaned about Kenny

    ReplyDelete
  140. We need a DM to challenge as well as cover and I think Wanyama would've been better than Alberto who is another AM who I don't think the team currently needs. Bony is better than Aspas in terms of goals even if its in a lower league you can't score them like Bony did so there must be something to it. Lovren is a defender with a lot of potential and at the price the Saints got him is nothing but a coup. All the players mentioned here would've easily chosen LFC over the clubs they've gone to now (IMO).

    ReplyDelete
  141. the point i was trying to make is that fact and football forums are not good bedfellows...football is fed off rumor and tittle tattle its what makes it so interesting

    ReplyDelete
  142. I have nothing against aiming high, but you have to take reality into consideration.

It pains me to say this but the fact is we are not, and have not been a top 4 side for the last 4 years now.

With that in mind it becomes very difficult to get the players that many people to consider to be marquee players and also we have a big reduction with regards to incoming money with not being in the CL.

So with that in mind we have to find players who have the potential to good enough to get us back into the top 4, players like Coutinho, Sturridge, Allen, Henderson etc.

Will Aspas, Mignolet and Alberto be those players.. who knows, hopefully they will be. I refuse like some people to instantly right them off before they have played a competitive game.

    ReplyDelete
  143. i cant speak for jc but i have moaned about every manager ever at Liverpool in some degree or another...i have moaned about players signed by previous managers ...but the reality is rogers and fsg are now running the show so what is the point of bringing up hodgson signing poulsen........we are not one being ...we are a collective of individuals with our own perspective on life ...

    ReplyDelete
  144. reality is what you make it....if you accept second best the likely hood is you will achieve second best....

    ReplyDelete
  145. no ones trying to say kk did not make some bad signings iam just pointing out so as rodgers

    ReplyDelete
  146. thats an assumption on your be half...3 years down the line your opinion may differ...for now you may think they are better but you cant predict the future

    ReplyDelete
  147. and i do not think hes worth 30million

    ReplyDelete
  148. so you started supporting them recently but know everything there is to no well done

    ReplyDelete
  149. Well in which case you keep to your fantasy that were a top 4 team and everything that goes with it, prestige, CL, Bags of Money etc and you will always be bitterly disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  150. This is one of the reason why I like FSG, they are now refusing to be taken for mugs which is something we have been doing for years now.

If only they adopted this attitude when KD was in charge, but then again why wouldn't you trust KD.

    ReplyDelete
  151. if only life was as simple as you try to make it out mike

    ReplyDelete
  152. You just don't get it, do you?
In order to get the players we need to challenge for the title, we need to get into the top four.
that then becomes the short term goal, as part of the longer term goal to win the title. It's a necessary step.
Show me ONE quote where anyone from LFC says we will be happy with top 4 forever.
We're not accepting second best. Just blithely saying we're going to win the League this season is NOT showing any grasp of the reality.
And since you trotted out that cliché, here's an opposing one.
You have to learn to walk before you can run.
Top 4 first. THEN the League title

    ReplyDelete
  153. But the gap in fees paid when compared makes BR a saint.

    ReplyDelete
  154. liverpool4life56512:49 pm, August 16, 2013

No, I'm on about FSG era, as owners, the best manager under them has been Rodgers. Best players has been coutinho followed up by suarez

    ReplyDelete
  155. no i gave him time as in my eyes he had earned it for what he has done for the club, one of the main reasons i bring rodgers short fallings up so much is because, the same people who wanted kenny out are the same people calling for rodgers to be given time hypocrits

    ReplyDelete
  156. its a lottery buying a player you never know...but there are certain variables which can stack his ability to succeed in you favour

    ReplyDelete
  157. liverpool4life56512:50 pm, August 16, 2013

I agreed it's good to have owners caring for us, not putting us Into the red, and so true what a waste under KD:/ could of brought decent players for how much he spent

    ReplyDelete
  158. Sky are reporting we are indeed in talks with Willian...Sky don't you dare get mu hopes up again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  159. sorry m8 i remember a few seasons back when we were saying gerrard deserves a title ,and now we are just hoping for champions league 1st is 1st and second is nowhere

    ReplyDelete
  160. liverpool4life56512:51 pm, August 16, 2013

If we pull it off, our front three in Willian,Sturridge,Suarez, then coutinho behind amazing!:)

    ReplyDelete
  161. and then the men in the white coats knock on your door

    ReplyDelete
  162. liverpool4life56512:52 pm, August 16, 2013

We are giving Rodgers time because he shown he good in the market, shown progress in the league and he adapted a nice playing style, which is good to watch and entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  163. in order to get the best players you have to show a real intent in buying from the off...not waiting around til you have sold someone ....not waiting about to see if other clubs come in....

    ReplyDelete
  164. Ok so . New owners should come in, give us £100m to win the title and a top Manager instead of the one we had, and we'll win the title.
    Hang on.......

    ReplyDelete
  165. good do not bother in future

    ReplyDelete
  166. Cissokho makes more sense at the alleged price we could get him for at the end of the loan deal

    ReplyDelete
  167. i am going to put my head in the oven its got be better than listening to this

    ReplyDelete
  168. sit back jc and relax...rogers has got rid of kennys deadwood and replaced them with his own so we should finish way higher than we ever did with kenny and get a couple of cup finals in for good measure

    ReplyDelete
  169. liverpool4life56512:56 pm, August 16, 2013

Suarez is training with the first team again? Positive? Didn't BR say he will come back into the fold when he more committed...

    ReplyDelete
  170. liverpool4life56512:57 pm, August 16, 2013

What dead wood has Rodgers got them?:-)

    ReplyDelete
  171. liverpool4life56512:57 pm, August 16, 2013

    Go ahead :-) have fun.

    ReplyDelete
  172. did you really think we had a chance of the title ,kenny should have had more time end off ,and come the end of this season when we are no nearer european football they will still be calls for rodgers to be given more time

    ReplyDelete
  173. Like we did with Carroll, Downing and Henderson.
TOP players rarely go to non CL clubs unless you pay them ridiculous wages

    ReplyDelete
  174. liverpool4life56512:58 pm, August 16, 2013

More time? Your joking right? He might of spent 20 million on Titus bramble.

    ReplyDelete
  175. agree what is there to worry about:-)

    ReplyDelete
  176. I'll take your word for that.
Don't forget, your solution was Jordan Rhodes and Ryan Shawcross

    ReplyDelete
  177. it will be more fun than talking to you, infact in future i am not going to bother post away

    ReplyDelete
  178. Utter nonsense. The Dalglish situation is totally different to Rodgers. Kenny will always be a legend but his second spell in charge turned out to be a complete and utter disaster, which (arguably) set the club back 3-5 years:

    * Catastrophic waste of transfer funds on average players. £100m+ wasted on average British players that anyone with could see were not worth it.

    * Presided over pigheaded stubborn LFC response to the Evra situation, which included antagonistic club statements on the issue; repeated arguments/clashes with journos in press conferences, and the embarrassing T-shirt incident.

    * Forced to apologise for 'conduct unbecoming a Liverpool manager' after attacking a reporter live on air.

    * Perpetuated the tedious LFC victim complex with his incessant 'everyone hates LFC' approach.

    * Ill-advised (and ultimately damaging) blanket support for Luis Suarez.

    * Horrible results on the field, and admitted prioritising cups over the league.

    * No signs of progress on the field, or hopes for improvement in the future.

    * Relegation form in the last few months in charge.

People wanted Dalglish out because he was clearly not the right man to take the club forward. He was out of touch, and leading the Reds in a damaging direction.

There is absolutely no comparison between Rodgers and Dalglish. The only similarity is that BR has also made a couple of duff signings, but he hasn't wasted ridiculous amounts of money in the process, or caused LFC to make tens of millions in transfer losses.

Ultimately, there is HOPE under Rodgers, and manifest progress on and off the pitch.

There's no hypocrisy at all. Rodgers deserves time. Dalglish didn't. End of story.

    ReplyDelete
  179. all rogers signings are top notch...so that coupled with us getting rid of all kennys rubbish should mean we will achieve far more than kenny did...well considering kenny got to two finals and won one that means this year rogers should improve on that by winning two finals and at the very minimum get us into the top 4

    ReplyDelete
  180. liverpool4life5651:02 pm, August 16, 2013

Yeah, because you don't know how to have a discussion, you make things up to get your own way :) but good for you Jason :)

    ReplyDelete
  181. BR's signings overall are far more effective - and cost effective - than Dalglish's, and in time, Rodgers will achieve much more.

BR has only had one season in charge, and he had to clean up Dalglish's mess in that season. Dalglish had 18 months, and things just got worse and worse.

The fact that LFC got to two cup finals means nothing, and doesn't prove Dalglish is more effective than Rodgers. Case in point: LFC had to beat Championship opposition on PENALTIES to win the Carling Cup. Hardly an admirable achievement. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing.

The League cup is a meaningless distraction. Rodgers has already improved on Dalglish's tenure by beating his league position/points total in his first season.

    ReplyDelete
  182. liverpool4life5651:07 pm, August 16, 2013

Wow he won the capital one cup, no big deal, Rodgers after Janaury has shown he transfers to be good, coutinho,Sturridge and even the recent signings in aspas,Alberto,Toure, mignolet to make a impact. I rather have Top 4 than anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  183. and kenny took over from the roy h mess poulson joe cole ring any bells....id sooner get to the final and win on penalties than get knocked out by a team of milkmen on the way there....surely you jest jamie

    ReplyDelete
  184. Do you miss the point on purpose?
Kenny had £100m to spend, and we ended up 17 points away from 4th and 37 points away from the title. we only scored 47 goals all season. You say that meant we should have given Kenny another season end of?
But Rodgers had us to within 12 points of top 4 and 28 from the title with £40m to spend, we score 71 goals and we should sack Rodgers?
no wonder you mention people in white coats.

    ReplyDelete
  185. I don't see this as a done deal at all. This is exactly the same position we were in a couple of weeks ago. Valencia want a sale and L'pool wants a loan with an option to buy. This is not news and it isn't a signing. Please curb your enthusiasm.

    ReplyDelete
  186. When it gets put on the BBC website that it's a done deal is when I believe that it's a done deal. It's on the BBC website.

    ReplyDelete
  187. hoping more like dreaming

    ReplyDelete
  188. When he signs it will be a done deal...not until and I don't care who puts it in what paper.

    ReplyDelete
  189. It means talking to his selling club to agree a fee

    ReplyDelete
  190. liverpool4life5651:20 pm, August 16, 2013

KD mess was bigger than Roy's. Rodgers had to clean up Benitez mess(aqua) Roy H mess(J cole) then KD mess, Carroll, downing,Adam etc. their still some to go aswell!

    ReplyDelete
  191. BBC is about as reputable as it gets and when they say it's done, it's done!

    ReplyDelete
  192. so we haven't entered negotiation then haha

    ReplyDelete
  193. well we should thrash stoke then on sat as adam is playing for them

    ReplyDelete
  194. thats a btter solution than borini and allen hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  195. I can't be bothered to waste time on this pointless debate. Some things are self-evident. This is like arguing that Ryan Babel is a more effective player than John Barnes.

    ReplyDelete
  196. ill believe this when i see him in a reds shirt .....we even agreed a mhiktaryan deal in principle and we know what happened ....... no point getting false hopes
