'LFC are keen' - Record-breaking striker being 'watched closely' by BR's spies. Bid...?

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring 16-year old FC Groningen prodigy Richairo Zivkovic, who is the youngest player to ever feature for the Dutch club's first team.

According to reports in Holland and England over the weekend, Liverpool's scouts have watched Zivkovic many times, and are mightily impressed with his talent and potential.

Groningen director Hans Nijland has confirmed the Reds' interest in the Dutch-Serbian attacker, who is predictably dubbed 'the new Arjen Robben'. He told reporters:

“All the top clubs in Holland want him but Liverpool are here every week too. They [LFC] are watching him closely and very keen"

His agent, Daan Kramp, has also confirmed interest from other clubs:

"Richairo develops rapidly. It is not surprising that several clubs in Holland and abroad have serious interest in this talent".

T16-year Zivkovic recently broke Arjen Robben’s record as the youngest player ever to score for Groningen, and last season, he grabbed 22 goals for the Dutch club's U17 side.

This season, the striker has scored 2 goals in 3 for Groningen's first team, which is impressive for a 16 year old. As a comparison, I'm sure that if Jerome Sinclair - also 16 - scored 2 goals in 3 Premier League games for LFC, the club's fans would be raving about him.

After signing a three year deal with Groningen in 2012, Zivkovic enthused:

"I am very pleased with the confidence that speaks from this contract. I want to develop as a player and as a person, and it's up to me to keep working hard and developing myself in order to become a regular player of the first team".

Worth a bid...?

Buy him and loan him for 2 years to Groningen to develop his talent.

Looks like willian most likely will join spurs. We need to sack ayre :/ takes to long trying to get deals done. Owell. Another one bites the dust.

  3. Spurs are going to challenge for the title. They are an ambitious side.
Willian was always a pipe dream.

  4. according to which sources? All I've read is they are prepared for their typical hijack attempt. It doesn't inextricably mean he will go to Spurs?

Nah I was just reading they've making their moves and what has happened before makes me feel they might get him, hopefully they don't...

We are ambitious too just none of our deals seem to come off....

  7. Its all rumours. Some say a flux of money has gone on spurs, others say the player will travel to England and choose between spurs and Liverpool. Its all B.S. Its a case of waiting and seing.

  8. Spurs won't come near winning the title. I honestly don't understand why Spurs are more attractive. They're a non CL team just like us, and there's no guarantees of them making it into the top 4 next year. They made it once in an eternity a few years ago. Big deal.

  9. IMO, the strongest indicators of where he will end up yet point towards him joining Liverpool. He followed 2 Liverpool players on twitter, and the Liverpool physio followed him. That's the only place where things start to add up somewhat. Otherwise, it's just all rumours that could be false.

  10. Though this video is not in the dutch top flight, he seems to have some fine attributes, most notably his positioning, composure and heading.

    Seems like a fine talent.

Hopefully he won't dissapear when he have to challenge Yesil, Texiera and Ibe for a place in the side.

  11. He followed 2 spurs players and Rafael from Utd also.

    ReplyDelete
  12. He's now followed Sandro and Fernandinho
All team mates at Brazil- means nothing

  13. Like it or not they are ahead of us development wise. And they attract top players, for whatever reason.

    ReplyDelete
  14. How? Put our best side against their best side and it's a close call. Plus they are going to lose Bale and we are keeping Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  15. A season is counted over 38 games, not one on one. They came 5th. We came 7th. The league table never lies. They have also signed international players. And Bale hasn't gone yet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. the only worrying thing for me is that he has been slashed from 12/1 to 4/9 on skybet and we are now 2/1 :-( Doesn't really mean anything but looks promising if your a spurs fan.

  17. Fair enough then. According to Jaimie he hadn't followed any other non Liverpool players. I don't use twitter so I wouldn't know, lol.

  18. please guys lets get this kid for 200,000 ...den get LEANDRO DAMIAO he had 70 goals in 129 appearances ,whiles WILLIAN scored 21 goals in 131 appearances. i have watched them both willian has a lot of trickery like coutinho and is more of a service man but leandro knows how to put the ball where it belongs and has got more pace than Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That was last year and with all the money there spending trust me Bale will be gone

    ReplyDelete
  20. Exactly what I'm asking, what is this 'whatever reason' that's attracting top players? Our youth development seems to be coming along nicely too?

    ReplyDelete
  21. What else can you judge them on? So Utd aren't champions then? Because that was last year.

    ReplyDelete
  22. what? they are reigning champions not champion this season are they? and if you look at the form table from January with Coutinho and Sturridge in the team we was a miles better team, spurs had the CL spot almost guaranteed and still messed it up.

    ReplyDelete
  23. At the time I posted the article, Willian hadn't yet followed the Spurs players.

  25. The whatever reason is a stupid comment when I read my statement back. I have answered the reason in the fact, Spurs were one game from champions league football last season and have been challenging for 4th place the past 3 seasons. Also they were unlucky due to chelsea winning the CL and costing them their place 2 seasons ago.Players might believe that spurs are better placed to meet their ambitions.

True :( he coming in tomorrow hopefully BR Lucas and coutinho can convince him to come to us :) I'm going to be gutted if he don't

    ReplyDelete
  27. Like I said the league is over 38 games not from January to may.

  28. like i said that was last year. If where going off last years form then we might as well not play this season out.

What ibe heard from a skysports source, we've offered him far more wages than spurs, that's why we are ahead, we will know more Tuesday

    ReplyDelete
  30. i'm going to be optimistic :-) might be worth a punt at 2/1 haha

  31. It's about time they scouted their own targets haha I wasn't bothered about Sig and Demps but i will be annoyed if they steal this one!

  32. Lol.this season is one game old. You have to base it on last season and Imo. Spurs have shown over the past 3 seasons, that they are better prepared to challenge for, minimum the top 4 and the title. I hope Liverpool do better than them, but I can take off my Liverpool goggles and say spurs are better prepared to challenge. It realism.

I totally agree an same, this one tho if they take him will be taking the biscuit haha

Have to be but liverpool camp are still positive about getting him, hopefully higher wages will swing it for us :-)

  35. I get what your saying and to a point we are both right. What i'm saying is that there isn't much difference between us and spurs. Keeper for keeper their about the same, Defense i would say we edge it, midfield i would say we edge it (especially when/if Bale goes) Strikers we win hands down. At the start of last season we didn't have the squad capable of a top 4 finish but after the signing in January we did. So imo last seasons form is irrelevant.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Again LFC need to focus on the NOW which is the immediate needs and the. Closing window.
    Buy. Sakho. CD need
    William. Striker need

Sell. Skrtel. Give Wisdom and Kelly the shot
    Coates. See above

Bench. Aggger have him practice with his hands tied
    Keep on bench. Allen

    The end...........

  37. We can build a Brazilian contingent if we do a double swoop for Leandro Damiao and Willian. Highly unlikely it will happen though.

  38. Think your right mate. Did you watch them yesterday ? They were pretty lucky against Palace, who are going down. They have a good squad and Soldado (sp) looks lively and will score for them BUT they looked proper nervous and a little bit complacent. A few of their new boys seemed genuinely surprised that Palace gave them a game. If they are having problems with Chamahk and Kevin Phillips (thought he had retired) then they are going to have a mare against a lot of the other teams. We on the other hand seemed to have a bit about us with the new lads already putting in a shift and not being worried about hard work. Toure has been saying what a great team spirit there is and you can see it and when Mignolet saved the penalty the whole team was there and looked delighted for him. I think we are starting to be a real team despite the transfer saga where as spurs seem a little unsettled even with their big spending so lets hope we can take advantage of that this season.

  39. Good prospect but way too early for a move for him. He gets his chance at Groningen because it's well...Groningen...but he's not necessarily better than some of the kids in our own U16.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would be so amazed if we do not end up signing him........

    ReplyDelete
  41. Spurs *should* be challenging for the title, and should have done so for the last couple of years.

They are an unambitious club and so will always maintain that glass ceiling of just challenging Arsenal (and failing)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Get him on the books but let him stay in Holland for at least a year or two.

    ReplyDelete
  43. But they have consistently finished above Liverpool. What does your comment say about Liverpool then?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sorry but I haven't read one report that states spurs are favorites.

All I have read is that talks are on going and that Liverpool remain confident.

Not sure how this translates into "OMFG AYRE SACK HIM!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  45. Didn't get to watch it mate but i thought the same they should have beat them comfortably. The pressure got to them at the end of last season so i hope like you it does again :-) Bale will be massive for them and i just can't see him staying and if i was a player i'd take that into consideration. Soldado is a real player I've been a fan of him for awhile but he needs the service and that where i think they will be weak without Bale. Bale won 24 points on his own last season that says a lot also. We created 20 + chances against a hard to beat Stoke team, would like to know how many chances spurs created yesterday? It is only one game in the season but it looks promising for us and we have improved loads since the start of last season and that was what i was trying to tell Nei1y.

  46. My comment didn't say anything about Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  47. They're in London and that's about it...

All the talk about 'deluded' Liverpool fans always thinking next year will be our year (not that many fans really say that, but whatever) but I'd rather be a deluded optimist that is proven wrong, than to be a fan of a club that merely wants to be in competitions with no desire to actually ever win anything at all!

+£70m spent on a team that just finished 5th last year and the big ambition this year is just to make up that one spot!?

    ReplyDelete
  48. They weren't unlucky, they choked. Yet again.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Exactly. @Niall O'Reilly, why can't fans make observations about other clubs, without their comments and ideas having to loop back into relation with their own club?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Spot on. It's a fact which exposed itself in the period after they made the champions league a few years ago. You'd expect any other club like that on the rise in that situation to spend some money on bringing in all these quality players so they could take advantage of being in 4th position. Their only notable signing was Van der Vaart. They should have finished above Arsenal for a few seasons now.

Was in one of the newspaper last night but I'm okay today after reading that willian has told friends he wants to come to liverpool :-) and ayre is awful though? Don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  52. To be honest mate I do not have a problem with him.

Maybe its because we had Prick Parry for so long that when you compare anybody to him they are bound to look good.

I look at all the commercial deals we have made under Ayre I think he has done a very good job so far.

As for transfers, well until somebody shows me some evidence that a transfer has failed because of him then think a lot of criticism that he has come under is unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Replied but looks like the comments system has eaten my post :)

If it hasn't then I apologise for the double post.

I have no problem with Ayre.

He has done a good job so far with the commercial side, actually I think he has done an excellent job and as for transfers, until I see direct evidence of a transfer failing because of him then I have no issues.

Personally I feel a lot of criticism that goes his way is unfair.

We have a wage structure and if a player is not happy with that then how is that his Ayre's fault?

If a player decides to sign for a another team because of money (wages, contract length bonuses, clauses) CL status then that is not Ayre's fault.

If a bid fails for a player because Liverpool as a club (remember its not just Ayre) decides he is not the worth the fee that the selling club is asking, again how is that his fault?

People have accused Ayre of dithering in regards to transfers but we have no idea what happens behind the scenes.

For all we know Liverpool are on the ball and its the selling club who create all the delays, asking for over inflated prices simply because its Liverpool making the inquiry.

Some times people forget that this isn't Football Manager and that transfers are not as simple as clicking on a couple of buttons.
