  2. I watched it on LFC on-line and we played in our slippers, very easy win. Toure looked cool as ice at CB, the kids were very good and Flano was excellent first half. Aspas looks a really good player, very quick and creative but Coutinho stood out again. Since Luis got banned we can't stop scoring goals, we haven't spent any club money yet, as the out-goings have paid for the new signings so far, We have £20m from fsg + any sales still to spend..................happy days!!!!

  5. Lovely goal and assist from Aspas,Im sure they were 'cheap' and 'tacky' for certain individuals :P

  6. We should have paid 50 million for Aspas then nobody would be complaining about him :-o

  7. Really enjoyed the way we outplayed PNE. Yes it was only against a weak team but if you look at the young boys playing with enormous tactical understanding vision and courage you can see there's clearly something going on here. Class game to watch, good feeling after such a long time without any single match, and I'm really happy to see our starlets and new signings succeed and firing a few goals in !

  8. Certainly encouraging as opposed to discouraging.

I was more impressed with the possession of the ball above all else.

I thought we controlled the tempo of the game and I think having the majority of the our team playing together in July as opposed to August will make a huge difference in starting off the season.

  9. Aspas looks like he's got game. Looking forward to seeing what he's like against tougher opposition. Mean left foot though.

  10. The team played really well. Hope we can continue this kind of game in the PL this season and do make a serious challenge at the top 4.

  11. I still think that Pacheco has something to offer.

  12. some nice touches against below average opposition so im not opening the trophy cabinet yet.....on another note the suarez situation needs sorting fast either sell him or keep him then we can move on.....

  13. Big fan myself and really hope he can make the step up.
I still think sterling should be tried in that position though.

  14. I would say Aspas scored a stunner, the keeper was all over the shop. Good run out, expect nothing less really.

  16. Its Preston north end. Are you suffering from sunstroke?

  17. Good win in the first game of pre season. Hopefully when the real football starts, the team will be ready. Rodgers tactics are beginning to take effect. Now he needs some backing in the window.

  18. I can't see Sterling playing centrally to be honest. Just like I can't see Pacheco on the wing or up front. He looks better in the centre.

  19. Having a look at what some websites write today, I am scratching my head. Aspas looked good, but Suaréz he ain't. Solid player with a trick or two in him, but his performance wasn't as outstanding as some people want to make us believe.

How many times have you been left dissapointed though, good start despite whether we expect it or not, United expect to beat some Shanghai team but didnt. Could be worse.

  21. He didn't look as quick as I expected either. Eitherways, it's only the start of pre-season - I'm sure there's plenty more to come from him and the rest of the guys as they get more accustomed to playing with each other and in more favorable matchday conditions

  22. nothing we can do until Madrid put their offer in. And it looks like they'll be waiting until the end of the window for a better deal...

  23. Agreed - Sterling is about speed and one-on-one play out wide. Pacheco is all about quick passing and movement through the middle. Ditto with Suso.

Pacheco could be a decent backup in the position for me, and is better suited there than any of Henderson/Shelvey/Allen were last year

  24. Yep. Whenever he was played in the hole, he looked decent enough to me. He looked poor when played out of position, though.

  25. For sure it's a good start, but I won't be shouting top 4 just yet. Saying that I'm as happy as anyone at seeing the man a lose. Just doesnt really mean anything yet

No i know but i do think being without European football could give us an edge/freshness each week to give us a better chance of making top 4. We just need to maintain second half of last seasons form throughout, not going to be easy though. According to Rodgers as well we are still in the market for a few starters. Hopefully good ones :)

  27. i think he meant that his low transfer fee was used to say he was a mediocre signing and had the transfer fee been higher, maybe the criticism would of changed

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah i hope Rogers is allowed to keep his word. 2 "starters" if Suarez stays or 4 "starters if he goes"

  29. I'm not too worried about Aspas, I think he will give us the same kind of return as Kuyt, i would be happy with that. He was lucky to score. Luis Alberto worries me a little, his shots on goal were tame at best. But.... first game of pre-season, i won't judge them to hard just yet.

  30. Pretty good start, although against a lesser team.
    Its all confidence boosting stuff.

  31. at least henderson showed that he still is in the same vein he was at the end of last season :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kuyt's first touch was so bad, it meant that his second touch was a tackle...
Agree about Luis Alberto's shooting ability. His shots were to weak to be even considered as passes. Apart from that he did quite well, though.

  33. Don't get me wrong, I know this was the very first game of the season, but Henderson didn't do anything of note. Or is that what you meant to say? I think it's a long way for us to go until we can seriously challenge for fourth, but maybe I am too pessimistic.

    ReplyDelete
  34. actually anty henderson kept the midfield ticking making good interceptions and tidy passes also his energy levels havent dimmed true he didnt have any assist or goals in the match but his presence was felt he didnt let preston enjoy a run with the ball ...... as for places as far as im concerened i think 4th place is a pipe dream this squad is still too inexperienced and we are far from possesion based football rather we play more like king kennys time fast paced attack with a little mindless passing here and there ....... IMO if we finish 5th place that is an excellent achievement ......... with 6th looking more likely and if totenham get benteke top 4 is really loooking impossible unless sturridge manages to stay injury freee all season (and we all know that is never going to happen ......ive seen stronger ankles and thighs on a baby)
