Liverpool FC is packed with exciting young talent at the moment, and after the recent capture of Barcelona starlet Sergi Canos, the Reds are set to welcome yet another another promising youngster into the club's burgeoning academy.
According to multiple sources today, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign coveted Valencia midfielder Pedro Chirivella, who rejected a move to Barcelona in 2011. The Mirror reports:
"Liverpool have snapped up Valencia youngster Pedro Chirivella on a four-year deal.
"Valencia [want] £3.5million [€5m] but [LFC are offering] around £2m less. If no deal can be reached, then a tribunal will set the final fee".
Chirivella's deal will reportedly net him £300K a season, and he'll have the option of being enrolled in 'one of the best schools in England'.
According to Spanish newspaper Vavel:
* Chirivella visited Liverpool for two days in June with his parents.
* He toured the city, Anfield, and the club's training complex at Melwood.
* The starlet's parents will move with him, and they'll be guaranteed jobs in Liverpool.
* LFC's intention is to have Chirivella train with the first-team once a week next season.
* The Reds see Chirivella as a possible long-term successor to Steven Gerrard.
When asked in June about his football role models, Chirivella enthused:
"Busquets & Alonso are my favourite players, two different players, but the best in their position. They are the two I admire"
Chirivella seems like a great prospect, but given his age, there's nothing to get excited about yet as it will probably be years before he plays regularly in the first team.

Its great that we are signing these young talented players. But I would like to see a few who can make an impact now.
ReplyDeleteWow that a big money...kid this day not cheap
ReplyDeleteIts amazing the things that go into these deals, basically providing a new life for his family.
ReplyDeletelets not get excited, about all these so called superstar youngsters ,if they are that good and we have been buying them for years ,how comes we are not getting to the final of the next gen cup,how comes we got out played by chelsea over two legs of the youth cup,and how comes they did not win the league, very very rarely do any make the 1st team and even rarer go on to be regulars ,the last youth product that played over a hundred games (i think iam right cannot be bothered to check)was a certain mr gerrard and he cost the club nothing, and i bet we have spent way over 20million since, and thats not including there wages and paying for houses and accommadation for there parents
ReplyDeletejaimie your quote it will probably be years before he plays regularly in the first team, lol more like never ,how many of these players have we signed over the last ten years ,i bet not 1 in 5 even got a game
ReplyDeleteShelvey, Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Ibe etc all got games for the first team, no?
ReplyDeleteLets not let facts get in the way Jaimie.
ReplyDeleteYeah you're right that the majority don't make it but thats life, every club does it (Who have an academy like ours),that's just the way it is
ReplyDeletebut none are or where regulars ,or have saved the club money in the long run
ReplyDeleteagree but our academy is hyped up to be one of the best in the world
ReplyDeleteand what facts would those be they have not had a hundred games between them,so how are they regulars ,and to be fair the fact that they got anywhere as much game time as they have, shows the absolute chaos our team is in
ReplyDeletecanos, chirvella, alberto and suso and maybe nacho a spanish lfc new barcaloena in 5 years, just hope none of them do a pacheco
ReplyDeleteHopefully suso does very well on loan
we need a new messi , sterling and ibe have potential but not messi more like robben or ribery
There still young, you can't put players straight in the deep end, players need to be gently put into first team, sterling-18 suso19 wisdom-20 ibe-17 all in the long run will be future first team players. Look at micheal Owen we put him into first team straight away at a young age now he career over. If you over work young players they might get injured which would hamper there career.
ReplyDeleteWherre did the 5 mllion come from ? more lies from you
ReplyDeleteI hope these all so called superstars of the future do have the metal to make it to the first time and do help LFC with its ambitions and achieve them.
ReplyDeleteif these are our future lfc players i will not bother renewing my passport
ReplyDeleteNot to mention Kelly, Flanno and Robinson
ReplyDeleteif were lucky one might play a hundred games a few mite get a handfull between them but its all worth it lol
ReplyDeleteThat's your opinion. But they have good futures ahead of them.
ReplyDeleteSinclair,Yesil ;) there quiet a few players! It's good to have youth coming through :)
ReplyDeletedid you not read the post who much did they cost how many games have they stated and which one is a regular starter,
ReplyDeleteyes how many games have they started ,you can name as many of the youth products as you want the fact is they as not been a regular player since gerrard
ReplyDeletelook m8 every player we sign or even we get linked to is the new messi accoring to you so i will take your comment like a take the rest with a pinch of salt
ReplyDeleteSterling was a regular. But we had to pull him out of first team later on because he would of been burnt out, these players are young, got to take care of them! Jason they won't be regular straight away. It takes time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know where you're coming from.
ReplyDeleteI never say that, please don't lie. Thanks, I say they have "potential" to be good players.
ReplyDeleteRodgers going the "sexy" way didn't he say he will develop scouse talent
ReplyDeleteanyway i dont mind.
When spain won the world cup in 2010 there were 8 barca players in 11
next there will be 8 lfc talent
Spain s our market we need to mantain that we were the first under rafa to dip into the market , torress, alonso and arbeloa all played in the euro final
The market raey dissapoibted us as well unlike talian and french.
How come we have rarley looked at german , hamman and babbel were top players
What do people think about getting higuain in the deal for suarez(also abit of money) good deal to me.
ReplyDeleteAnother done deal : Mr. Kiss of Death has signed contract extension for 2 more yr. I really hope he can lift BPL title b4 he retire...THIS MAN DESERVE IT
ReplyDeleteI would be so happy with that, you can't imagine!!
ReplyDeleteYou're asking how much Flanno, Robinson and Kelly cost? Just to let you know, Flanno, Robinson and Kelly are all homegrown....(Considered local lads) Oh and Kelly was actually a very good first teamer. So, yes, I did read the post and all the boys I mentioned played first team football and cost nowt :)
ReplyDeletehome grown exactly my point they are home grown so we did not buy them
ReplyDeletecheers at least someone dose, most fans believe the hype
ReplyDeleteOh, right got ya, my mistake. Although, we did by Sterling and Wisdom though and they have played regular.
ReplyDeletethey have played a few games the point was ,nearly all of them end up being shipped out
ReplyDeleteTrue, but the club can't be blamed for a lot of that surely? If a player shows potential to be brilliant and you get them in early for pittance, it's better to get shot and move on top the next no? Look at Pongolle and El Zar, they looked promising, just didn't turn out.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Canos, can anyone supply me with proof that we have signed him? I read the story above elsewhere yesterday, but couldn't find Canos on the official site. All the rather big internet sites still consider him as a Barcelona player.
ReplyDeleteWith Rodgers style of football he'll make good players out of most of em.
ReplyDeletelol yes he a messiah
ReplyDeleteim playing devils advocate Jaimie but non of the players being banded around are bone fide first teamers thet are all fringe players who we have sent on loan or are trying to palm off
ReplyDeletethere about 30 players mentioned and non are first team starters lol
ReplyDeleteYou know anything about economics mate ? Shelvey bought for 1, 7 mil .. groomed and played his part this season sold for nearly 3 times the amount.. that money can be used to bring in two new potential stars .. it only takes 1 out of 100 .. e.g suso or sterling become stars in the next 3-4 years man utd and Barcelona put offer 20 odd mil .. huge profit made or if we dont sell , talented player at our club .. youth players are a win , win .. the reason we havnt had any1 coming through is before rafa our academy was shit ! We will only start to see his players developed in 2 - 3 years . Than make your judgement
ReplyDeleteYour simple naming players that have not proved carrs argument incorrect. You would have to agree that we have not had much financial rewards from our academy as of yet .. that is why rafa revamped it and we only starting to see that "pay" off now.. you would have to agree that sterling and suso will definitely add great value to liverpool either by their services or future sales fees .. which is the case with alot of these players that is why our academy is regarded as one of the brightest. But you make some fair points Carr , I agree we need to see these lads take that next step ..
ReplyDeletewhen you factor in shelveys wages we havnt made that much....and if im honest hes one of the ones id have kept....he must have something for laudrup to sign him
ReplyDeleteyou dont need one to watch the fa cup in wales
ReplyDeleteThe fact of matter is, you are all contradicting yourselves over a topic which will not resolve the most important issue: ie getting us back into the CL.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to have young kids coming up and about. I am as excited as anyone when I see the likes of Ibe, Suso and sterling playing but they are not going to bring CL back. Getting them gently in is the way to do things. Look at Arsenal, trying to win things with kids just does not work out however good they might be. Kids need experience and they get that by playing alongside experienced players such as Stevie, Glen and so on...
Kids are always going and should always be fringe players until they prove they can be first teamers.
Suso for instance has bags of quality and potential. He is as good a technician I have seen in a long time (bar Coutinho). However, his tactical side needs working on. He needs to understand how to track back and work harder but that comes with age and experience. Until then he is only going to be a fringe player and through being that, he will learn and improve.
Wisdom is solid and has great pace and is tough tackling but his positioning is woeful. He will learn in time.
Putting in kids too early can damage their confidence if they are not successful.
Shelvy was bought very young his wages would not have exceed 20 a week.. over the years id be suprised if it cost more than 1, 3 mil .. equals 4 mil overall .. still a profit ! I do think we should have loaned him out though and try get more for him , I guess we wanted the cash now and he wanted the move permanent.. The main point of discussion was that we gained from our academy. . (Small but every bit counts)
ReplyDeleteI would have to say its definitely better to have a Youth Academy such as ours and to invest in Youngsters than not.
ReplyDeleteHowever I would agree with Mr Carr and say we shouldn't go overboard, giving whole families a new life in the minuscule hope of finding another Gerrard. YNWA.
Lol! So hold on - are you saying the kids should or shouldn't get game time? How will they reach hundred games on one hand if you think it's chaos on the other?? It's a tough one isn't it - personally I like BRs approach in giving youngsters game time - although maybe enforced due to lack of quality in majority KDs transfers (no hate on the king just pointing it out) as a former youth coach he seems to be able to train, manage, install confidence and show faith in young talent - and remember as we don't have the funds to compete with buying the finished articles - its either shrewd transfer gambles (like coutinho/aspas/assaidi - ie some will work) or we need a strong manager who can develop and raise the standard and in turn market value of our kids. They either make 1st team or we sell on. Again I think BR has proven he in a short time that yes he's still learning but he's deffo on the right track
ReplyDeleteI could add about 4/5 others, Sinclair, Flanagan, the hun, Coady etc etc, all they need apparently is for just one or two to make it, and the Academy pays for itself. Imagine if we had to buy a player of SG's calibre, or Carragher, plus we get a few mill from moving the youngsters on.
ReplyDeleteBut thats all built into their contract, LFC is a Business, and the whole cost is taken into consideration b4 we sign them. Do you think that is something we only think of after signing them, ??
ReplyDeleteYeah, I understand your feelings. Even if these are as good as they're hyped then how come we don't win the NextGen?
ReplyDeletebut on the other hand how many of chelsea's "young talents" from their academy got into the starting 11 of the first team?
ReplyDeleteon the other hand liverpool had the likes of; suso, sterling, Ibe (although it was late in the season), wisdom, robinson and anyone else i may have missed but look at the quality of those players named.. they shone in the first team so the impact they could have had if they stayed in the youth team would have been huge.
you may have a point ,but i still think they are overated imo wisdom as the best chance at anfield
ReplyDeleteit will all be buy eye scan by the time we get back into europe lol
ReplyDeletemy point is if we are going down the road of buying young potential players ,then we have to buy the best
ReplyDeletewe did not even get close
ReplyDeleteif we pay a transfer fee to a club for them the houses and accomadation come on top ,we pay for it
ReplyDeleteExactly!!! What's the point in getting all the best talent available when they can't even win a tournament in their own age group and even few that become first team regulars. Melwood is hyped as the English La Masia where the best talent is available but they can't make it to the first team.
ReplyDeletewe buy good young prospects ,but even at that level we get the second best,we cannot afford to pay big money at any level
ReplyDeleteLOL you're spot on.
