In recent weeks, Suso, Conor Coady, and Henoc Mukendi have all left Anfield on loan, and the mini-exodus of the club's young players continued today with the news that youth striker Krisztian Adorjan is all set to join FC Groningen - Luis Suarez's old club - on a season-long loan.
Last night, Groningen general director Hans Nijland confirmed the deal via his twitter account:
"Krisztian Adorjan will re-join our first team squad on Monday.
"There is an agreement with Liverpool and now negotiations with Adorjan have to take place."
A few weeks ago, Adorjan's agent, Tibor Pataky, hinted at the youngster's frustration at not being given a chance in the first team. He told Nemzeti Sport:
"He [Adorjan] is one hundred percent ready to make the step-up to the Liverpool first team. For the future, however, the best solution must found."
The Hungarian youngster got his chance to impress Rodgers last summer when he made his debut against Toronto FC, but he was replaced by Lucas Leiva after only half an hour, which suggests he didn't take his change. Adorjan also featured against Roma on the tour, but after that, he remained on the sidelines for the rest of the tour.
It seems like a shame to send Adorjan out on loan. In his first season at the Academy, he grabbed eight goals and 19 assists, and since then, he's progressed well, yet he didn't get a chance in the first team last season, despite being older than Sterling, Suso and Wisdom.
On the plus side, a loan move to a decent team could be a good move for Adorjan's development, but - like many other Reds youngsters in the past - he could get stuck in loan-hell, and ultimately end up leaving the club.
Elsewhere, Dani Pacheco - who missed out on LFC's tour of Indonesia and Australia - seemed to confirm that he is indeed leaving Anfield. He tweeted:
"For what you may know, I have not signed anything with any club so far. If that time comes, I'll let you know".

adorjan,s loan move as an agreed transfer fee in it according to sites yesterday, why buy more youngsters we should be giving the ones we already have a shot first
ReplyDeleteNot if it looks like they are not going to make it and there are better options. That may seem harsh but that's the way football is. Haven't seen much of Adorjan but Pacheco had a few chances and seemed out of his depth (certainly when you compare him to someone like Coutinho who is similar age). Plus he had time at other clubs and struggled there.
ReplyDeleteI guess Rodgers thinks he ain't deserving of a shot.
ReplyDeleteCompetition for the positions he could play in, is huge. I think he is great a prospect, always impressed me, I hope he shines,
ReplyDeleteA good move for both him and the club, can he fulfill his potential?
If he cant make it there, how could he make it at Anfield, a major year in his career, hope he succeeds.
thats fine but why loan these players out and buy more
ReplyDeletepacheco was supposed to be the next big thing ,now how many times have we heard that from the acadermy
ReplyDeletebut they have an option to buy
ReplyDeleteoh well coady deal is good imo he gets important game tie which we would have never given him
ReplyDeleteLoans are really important only a few break straight in eg sterling others have to wai for their chances, eg giggs got straight in , beckham hd to go on loan and beckham is obviously a much better player then giggs , scholes is better then both put together
ReplyDeleteLiverpool buy young players with potential because down the line they may be worth £10/20 million, it is a business, who knows they may even play for us!
ReplyDeletehis problem is he thinks he is better than he is, (he could be a top player) players with such an attitude rarely get to be as good as they could be - giving 100% and using his talent to the full is the answer.
ReplyDeleteWHERE O WHERE is the best young player at the club ?????? Texiera.
ReplyDeleteHaving watched Adorjan play a lot of games last season, I really thought he would make the cut - 8 goals and 19 assists is very impressive.
ReplyDeleteMaybe going out on loan and gaining 1st team action may help him develop further and hopefully he comes back a better player ready for 1st team football.
We buy young players for their potential. These hot prospects have the raw ingredients in them to be good footballers and some of them may rise and shine. Others believe that they have 'made it' when they arrive at a club like Liverpool and fail to make the progress required to get them into the first team. Pacheco to me looks like one of them. In amongst all these rough diamonds you're striving to find that perfect gem, that one which will go er, on to be an international captain and a top player. Before Rafa's last intervention at Youth level, our academy had been pants (even under KD), but it looks as though it may start to bare fruits in the coming years. If however a player does not look like he's cutting the mustard then he has to be cut from the programme. I get that!
ReplyDeleteA name springs to mind of a player who perfectly illustrates this point - Nicolas Bendtner.... In his mind he's probably second only to Messi on the world stage right now. For his team he's probably second to the Janitor in terms what he adds.
ReplyDeleteBuy youngster n when they perform good...other club are hunting bcsuse liv cannot event qualify for CL. Mix of experince player will b good iguess.
