Done Deal: Simon Mignolet to join Liverpool FC 'next week' for €13m

Liverpool's transfer business continues apace! Last night, the club announced the signing of Sevilla attacker Luis Alberto, and in an interview the same evening, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers also confirmed that Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is definitely joining the club.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £11m (€13m) fee with Sunderland for the Belgian stopper, and in an interview with TalkSport last night, Rodgers unambiguously confirmed that the Mignolet deal is a near-certainty.

During the interview, Rodgers was asked the following question:

"It looks like you're about to sign Simon Mignolet from Sunderland. What will he bring to Anfield?"

The Reds boss responded:

“Competition. I told him [Reina] exactly what we were going to do, which was to provide real competition in that area.

"Pepe is a fantastic goalkeeper but Simon Mignolet was Northeast player of the season, and he's done really well.

"Until we complete it [the deal] next week, I don't want to say too much, but he [Mignolet] is a top goalkeeper"

So there you have it, direct from the manager himself: barring any last-minute mishaps or - worst case scenario - a failed medical, Mignolet will soon become Liverpool's fourth signing of the summer.

The writing is on the wall for Pepe Reina; Mignolet has his eye on the Belgium No.1 shirt for next year's world cup, and he'll only be assured of top dog status if he plays regularly over the next season.

As such, I sincerely doubt he'd leave Sunderland - where he plays every week - unless Rodgers had assured him he will be LFC's first choice goalkeeper.

  2. and its impossible to say they are world class players as some people are saying,i am only pointing that out

    ReplyDelete
  3. they have sold carroll ,so infact it 15 million ,i also expect suarez and pepe, will be sold

    ReplyDelete
  4. lets see how much they have spent at the end of the window ,when we take into account the sales

    ReplyDelete
  5. The outgoing players do not matter.

Fact of the matter is that Rodgers has been given funds to add new player to the squad.

With you logic Rodgers has only spent 15 million on 4 players who are costing the club 30 million pounds.

Total spent on Toure, Aspas, Alberto and Mignolet will be plus minus 30 million pounds. That isthe combined amount LFC need to pay to the clubs for the 4 players we have signed. It is not rocket science.

    ReplyDelete
  6. But...but....but....that's what I said....and what you disagreed with initially....errr...

    ReplyDelete
  7. so if we sell 75million pounds worth of players and spend 30 million we should all be gratetful to our generous benefactors lol,and also the wages will be less

    ReplyDelete
  8. No, you just like to look at the situation with one eyed vision.

Suarez cost 23 million. Should we sell him and get 50 million that means his value increased and we will be making 27 million profit on his sale. If we then go and sign Mkhitaryan and he costs 25 million then the club needs to pay over 25 million. Simple. We would be spending 25 million on Mkhitaryan...

If Rodgers had to sign 10 players this window and combined cost the club 100 million pounds then that 100 million pounds needs to be paid over whether we sell or not. 100 million pounds will be deducted off the clubs accounts.

If I had a car dealership and had one car in my showroom for 10 thousand pounds and sell it but you walk in the same day and I buy your car for 15 thousand pounds, does that mean I only paid you 5 thousand pounds for your car?

Luckily you are not one of the decision makers at LFC. We would be doomed.

  10. look m8 if they sell players and do not reinvest in players they make profit,i do not give a f"ck about them making profit ,they will make there profit when they sell the club, they cannot expect to skim mioney of the club till they do and thats what they are trying to do,its no wonder they have been messing about with the ground ,they do not want to start till ff play begins, then the club will have to pay for it 100%,meaning they invest nothing got the club cheap upgrade anfield all for there initial investment, they can them sell and make a couple of hundred million ,whilst the club suffers with a lack of financial backing in the mean time ,whos paying for anfield to get redeveloped ,not fsg the club will out of there income ,when its complete in about five years ,they can sell or if enough fans are happy getting took for mugs ,and accustomed to buying cheap players and moving them on for a profit(for fsg )they may stay and feed of the club for years

  12. they had no choice but to let him go ,rodgers did not want him at any cost ,lets face it he tried to get rid of every one of kennys signings, funny how things turn out that 3 of them that stayed ,became regulars who,s to say carroll would have not,and i do not give a dam about fsg they can leave tomorrow for me,some fans would probably mourn there departure as if they were gods of the game ,i was here long before fsg and hope long after ,just hope when they sell we never have the misfortune to be owned by cash hungry all talk no action yanks ever again

You talk rubbish LOL.FSG have funded us, gave money for signings, sorted our finances out, made progress on the ground, also they PUT in a extra 43 million from the own money Into our club as a loan so it lowers our debt.

  14. I disagreed with there not being one club with two good keepers on their books.

  15. Lad,theres a difference between saying they're world class and writing them off,I doubt they're 'world class' but they will improve us as a team and they certainly have to potential to be,because we aren't a world class team if you haven't noticed lol,'World class' players cost a helluva lot of money.

    ReplyDelete
  16. i wouldnt say its an uprade, its another possibility. Lucas is a good tackler, but he lacks aerial and powerful presence - something our entire team is missing IMO. Wanyama could bring that extra steel to our midfield to challange teams like stoke etc.

    Ronaldo or Messi

Let's say you worked in the admin department at Liverpool Football Club, who would be paying your salary?

    is it

    Number one: FSG

    or

    Number two: Liverpool Football Club?

    ReplyDelete
  21. liverpool4life5653:22 pm, June 25, 2013

No it's the football clubs debt. You haven't even got facts to back your argument up, so stop with the FSG bashing because you got no ground to stand on, when there doing everything a owner should do.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm starting to wonder how serious our interest in HENRIKH MKHITARYAN really is.Every season we get heavily linked to a player that according to the media is very close to signing but it turns out to be hot air.I remember LAVEZZI in the past and last year it was GASTON RAMIREZ.
SHAKHTAR say they've had no contact with anyone at LFC.I'm sure their telling the truth because admitting communication could potentially start a bidding war. He's apparently missed their pre season training camp in AUSTRIAN.Somethings going on but despite the fans excitement at possibly having him and COUTINHO in the same side next season, I wouldn't put money on it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. its the owners debt they own the club its their debt simple when they sell the new owners will take their debt into concideration

    ReplyDelete
  24. lfc would be paying my wages but we would all answer to fsg, because they own the club ,so any profit the club makes they can take it ,they can take money out even if the club does not make a profit

    ReplyDelete
  25. liverpool4life5654:29 pm, June 25, 2013

no it's down as the club debt. They came in with NO debt. They brought the club with debt. They paid some off but it went up the last year because we spent more than we should. Then they put in a interest free loan. To lower the debt. FSG are in this for the long run, they will build anfield to 60 thousand. Which will bring in more income for us :-), you need to see the bigger picture and not the picture you make up in your mind.

    ReplyDelete
  26. liverpool4life5654:50 pm, June 25, 2013

How can they take the profit? When the last two years we've lost money. They PUT in money not took money away.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jason, you have no idea when it comes to finances so I would suggest that you stop making a fool out out of yourself. Your comments are becoming more ridiculous every time you post.

    Another quiz for you

Do the players Liverpool sign belong to

    Number one: FSG?

    or

    Number Two: Liverpool Football Club?.

With your logic, when Liverpool FC signs a player that player gets registered under FSG?

At the moment you are struggling to put 1 and 1 together Jason. Out of which end do you talk?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jason, do you like listening to the voices inside your head?

You have no clue whatsoever so rather do not talk about finances please.

  29. lol if you say so all hail the great american dream

    ReplyDelete
  30. lol its not about 1or2 seasons its about the long game m8 they will make a nice profit ,they are not here because they give a dam about the club, they are here for the money

  31. m8 i would rather listen to voices than have to read your complete gushing about fsg ,and your draining posts

    ReplyDelete
  32. Waving the white flag so soon?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yep, yet no one ever mentions him. I have been saying about him for a little while. I put is down to nothing more than he isnt in the "in" crowd. Players these days like Eriksen etc are hyped up and raved about by people who have never even watched them play, other than on youtube. Then you got one of the best strikers in the last 4 years in europe going unoticed. Yet who do people talk about? not him.

I`m sure if you asked most fans to name a top 10 if not 20 list of strikers he wouldn`t even be on it, which only goes to show how much youtube makes players great!

    ReplyDelete
  34. liverpool4life5656:57 pm, June 25, 2013

I do, because I've written pure facts down. That FSG are looking after Liverpool finances :) but also given us financial backing. So yes let's hail them :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. liverpool4life5656:59 pm, June 25, 2013

Well obviously, if they didn't make a profit they wouldn't be good business men. And obviously they do give a dam about us or they wouldn't of have us funds. You just think bad of them for NO reason it's pathetic....

    ReplyDelete
  36. I do know where you are coming from, and I do think sometimes clubs use smoke screens so they can get other deals done out of the public eye, however in this case it seems legit. He is third party owned, and that always causes problems. The other thing to note is most rumours are just the press selling papers. Also don`t stricly take Shakhtars word for it. There manager said we had bid, and there general manager said we hadn`t (or other way round). Lots of tricks go on during the window, by all parties involved.

I would imagine the truth is always somewhere in the middle. I would hazzard a guess we asked about him, and that is where the press got there story from. Shakhtar want a aweful lot of money for him, then extra for the other owners of his rights, so its possible we havn`t followed up with a offical bid as for 23mil plus maybe the club is looking at other options too?

    ReplyDelete
  37. The modertor is a enabler tho ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. glad you feel that way yanks out and this time keep them out

    ReplyDelete
  39. So some rumours are saying we are looking to offload Hendo to make way and free cash for Wanyama. What do people think of that if it turns out to be true?

Personally I want Wanyama or someone of his ilk as that DM role does need a boast, secondly we do have to many mids as it is, so someone if not two do need to go. I like Hendo and think he is improving a lot, and would prefer either Allen or Shelvey if not both to go. However if Rodgers isn`t willing to sell them two then I would take selling Hendo to get a DM in, purely on the basis of what positions need filling more. Nothing against Hendo at all, just sometimes you have to put the team above personal like imo.

    ReplyDelete
  40. lol;-) on another subject wish jaimie was here i would love to hear what he has to say on the hk issue and him not returning to his club (if it is to force a move through imo ,you cannot defend him yet critisie suarez, would we ant a player like that at the club,i would but i suspect after the recent suarez bashing ,a lot of posters would not,but i am not a hypercrit

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ince to Cardiff, nice move by them. I really rate Ince dispite all the hassle he brings in the form of his dad. Great little player who will add goals to Cardiff. I would have liked him hear with us, but he prob would have only been a sub for us

    ReplyDelete
  42. liverpool4life5657:15 pm, June 25, 2013

You do realise how idiotic you sound? Haha, you have no facts to back up your claims yet you still go on. Strange

    ReplyDelete
  43. imo if he sells hendo yet keeps allen and the results go wrong ,he deserves the sack, hendo as made great strides this season ,and could go on to great things allen will not but thats my opinion(,so no need for the allen brigade to reply i have heard it all before,it is just my opinion)

    ReplyDelete
  44. fair dues. So no new DM, happy with Lucas and Allen as back up?

I personally would take it. Not cause Wanyama is a better player than Hendo, but purely on a strength in each position thing. In the AM role we seem well covered, in the DM I`m not so sure.

That all said and done, Hendo could be the cover for the middle mid aka Gerrard, and be his replacement.

Still pound for pound, if that deal was offered to me right now, I think we would be stronger next year if we took it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. liverpool4life5657:43 pm, June 25, 2013

Good point but rather get rid of spearing and shelvey for wanyama... Hendo gives more than them two :-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. that wasnt the option though. The question is would you sell Hendo if that was the only way we could/would get a new DM this year? Forget Allen, Spearing, Shelvey. I`m just trying to see if people would for that question alone lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. He is actually driving Suarez to Real as we speak, hence why he isn`t here ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. liverpool4life5657:50 pm, June 25, 2013

There good and bad sides about it, but nah I wouldn't aha :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't think DM is a big issue for this team.

I think it's eliminating the stupid mistakes of our defense and goalkeeper, and especially improving our defending of set pieces.

I don't look at that as a DM issue, but more of a back line issue.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah set pieces were shocking, oddly enough it was Agger who was worst for messing them up in most cases.

There is the argument though that due to the DM not being strong enough other teams cut through us to easy which in turn put pressure on the defense hence more mistakes and set pieces given away.

    Critical analysis alert:

Of course there is also the fact our system doesn`t lend itself well to the players we have/had in defense in the center last season. The higher line and the fact the left/right backs were running up the wings more meant the center was left exposed. This was steadied in many ways when Carra came in. Not due to his skill but more his pace. As he is slower the defense couldn`t keep such a high line. This in turn meant we didn`t give away so many goals on the counter. For us to carry on playing with such a high line we need different types of players in the back line. Ones more versed in this style of football.

The set pieces are a issue which can only be down to how the players are asked to mark imo. someone of Aggers ilk can`t go from being great at set pieces to being poor for no reason, therefore I can only assume we use a different system, zonal/man marking or a mix. Whatever it is it needs addressing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. JC, maybe you should see what FSG did with the Boston Red Sox's stadium before bashing their plans for Anfield.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Spurs had dropped their interest for Ince too so maybe he is another over-rated overhyped English player?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I feel like I've just sat in on a football transfer lesson.Thank you Mr ZANATOS :-) You respond to me like I'm not aware of how football works.I don't believe everything I read but when every media outlet including SKYSPORTS and the ECHO say something is on that gets my attention.
The truth isn't always in the middle sometimes it's black or white. Are we speaking to any of MKHITARYAN's people yes or no.
Why would they admit to us making a bid like you claim their manager said then the people upstairs at SHAKTHAR deny any contact. If anything you would put that on loud speaker and say it for everyone to hear in a attempt to get someone else to come in to drive up the price.
We already have a couple of PL leeches that seem to be all over our deals.I wouldn't put it past SPURS to be involved in this somehow. We should charge them and SOUTHAMPTON a fee for some of the players they've picked up recently and also report them for lacking imagination in the transfer market!

    ReplyDelete
  54. maybe, but I don`t think so, and def not at that price. Over-hyped to me is players who don`t score much or provide that many assists and go missing in games. Ince scored a bag load load season. It is a big step up from the champs to prem but on the face of it I think he could have made it, and will make it. I`m pretty sure he will do ok next season at Cardiff, maybe scoring about 7 goals, and then other teams will start looking at him and in a few years time his price will be a lot more than the 8mil he went for. I don`t expect him to score much more than 7, purely as I think Cardiff as a team will finish bottom half. Who knows though right, Benetke did well and Villa sucked this season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Spot on.

I didn't think our defense was terrible overall last year. I just thought they had terrible moments at times, which made everyone think we were worse off than we actually are.

We definitely had trouble with the larger strikers (Lukaku, Benteke, etc.). And we had trouble with the set pieces (it looked like we never got used to zonal marking).

Every defense makes mistakes. But no one remembers the mistakes that we didn't get burned on. The only mistakes people recall are the ones that hurt. The best teams limit the number of mistakes and/or limit the effect of the mistakes that are indeed made.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I responded exactly as was required to reply in full to what you wrote, not my fault if you take that the wrong way. I took the time to write a response as fully as I could. Sorry you didn`t appreciate that, I will not spend so long next time.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Mignolet done then. Pepe needs to up his game now.

I can see him wandering round Melwood like Highlander saying
In the end, there can be only one..... lol
Seriously though, we will have real strength for the first time in ages at no 1 if Reina stays.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Relax ZANATOS,I was playing about i never took anything the wrong way it's nothing to get serious about.Don't be sensitive your response was appreciated and your second paragraph from the third sentence on crossed my mind.
When I first came on here I put up something on a topic that was flooded with 200+ comments.
I was busy so I never had time to read everyone's comment.I thought if I highlight key words and names with the caps lock people would get what I'm saying quickly and if interested would read more.I stuck with it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You make a great point. If you defend as a team and other areas function well another defensive midfielder would be nice but it's not really needed.MAN U won the league without one in their entire squad. They play MICHAEL CARRICK in a deep line playmaker role and he's told to shield the back four but not in a typical DM way.
HENDERSON has great energy. He puts himself about and will be technically better than any DM brought in.I think he's the type of player that can be moulded into any type of CM needed.

    ReplyDelete
  61. THOMAS INCE made the best move in order to keep on developing.Like you said if he went to a top team he would've been a impact player.Regular football will serve him well and hopefully in the future he'll be good enough to return. We should get 2 or 3m from that deal.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ditto, as well as nice move by him. He may have the talent but no need for him to dive into a bigger club like us at the moment as he could easily get lost in development. So from his view, good move me thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It`s ok, I am relaxed, and def not sensitive over it, was just trying to explain I didn`t intend to offend.

I understand the caps things better now, there is logic in that.

    ReplyDelete
  64. A smart move by him. Game time is vital and so often talent players amount to nothing as they picked the big club to young and suddenly you hear about them moving and see there now 26. Shaun Wright Phillips is a classic example.

I hope the lad does well, even though it means he would cost more for us if we ever brought him later.

    ReplyDelete
  65. It's difficult to say whether it works or not because i hardly ever type normally on this website to compare. But I'm sure some, especially guests think I've got tourettes and just shout out random words.lol

    ReplyDelete
  66. Also completely agree with both of you. Cardiff would be a good challenge for the lad, and if anything, he can use it as a stepping stone to his next big and possibly final move. If he does well for a season or two, I can see a club like Spurs or even ourselves going after him.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think it would be negligent to do that. I would not sacrifice Henderson for a DM. I'd get rid of Shelvey, Allen and Spearing for one, but that wasn't your original question.

As you have identified in a reply you made before, there's a problem with an extremely high line and our full backs pressing so far up the pitch.

When we lose the ball we are instantly on the back foot and we get countered so easily. It could be Lucas or Tiote/Diame/Busquets even Yaya Toure it doesn't matter, when we lose the ball the DM and 2 centre backs are way too exposed and this is a fault of BR IMO.

The entire squad has not yet effectively embraced Brendan's entire game. Someone like Hendo suits the style. He's not Iniesta but he will press and run for days, he will pinch the odd goal and cover players and pick a pass.

I know it's not your question (sorry), but Allen should be sold if we want a new DM because it's Allen filling in for Lucas (first choice DM) when he is unavailable, so it makes sense to get rid of Allen - Which obviously will never happen if Rodgers is in charge. Spearing is on the way out and IMO Shelvey doesn't cut the mustard so he can go regardless of any new signings - Just my thoughts...

  73. liverpool4life5652:42 pm, June 26, 2013

    At the moment my starting 11 would be GK-Mignolet RB-Johnson CB-Toure CB-Agger LB-Erinque CDM-Lucas CM-Gerrard CM-Coutinho RW-Aspas ST-Suarez LW-Sturridge. And if Suarez goes, Sturridge to ST Alberto to LW :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. I still think Pepe is #1 if he's here (which is why I think he'll be sold).

I'd have to still take Skrtel over Toure (assuming Marty's still here, which I think he will be).

Can't say I disagree with anything else though.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I said in their squad. Since Courtois plays for Atletico he's not part of the Chelsea squad.

    ReplyDelete
  76. With the Henrikh deal maybe off the table with Dortmund rumored to be coming in to play, wonder who would be a alternative for Rodgers?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Very good question. I`m not sure we actually need one. Coutinho can play the AM role very well, and now we have Alberto as back up, along with Hendo or even Aspa.

If though we were to go for another AM I would go for Marco Reus from Dortmund as if they get HM I think he may question how many games he will get. A nice little player who I would have over HM, due to how well he has done in a top league. He has already got a step up on HM in that respect and would not cost anymore. Only reason I wanted HM over him originally is that I thought Reus wouldn`t be available.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Doesn't make much of a difference to me. Chelsea own two very good keepers. Yes, they can't keep both happy, if they rotate them, or they hold Courtois back in his development, hence the loan. But they still own them, both have a contract with Chelsea. Is a player out on loan not a member of the squad anymore? When I'm ill at home, I'm still a member of my company's staff.

    ReplyDelete
  79. While not my original question I do agree Allen should be the one to go to make way for a new DM, but I can`t see that happening this summer.

Allen, Shelvey, Spearing and Downing could all be sold and it wouldn`t really make much of a difference to the team. It would also raise about 23mil. All you would need to buy to keep the squad strong is another DM and a Right sided winger/attacker as in the other two positions sold we already have good players and good cover players. That would be 23mil for two players. 10mil for DM gives you Wanayma and leaves 13mil for a winger, which is more than enough to get someone who is better than Downing, thus still improving us.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I think there might be an option to extend to 70,000 depending on the attendances and the infrastructure built by then.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Victor Moses.

    ReplyDelete
  82. When is Jaimie back from holiday?! This thread is getting way too long lol!

    ReplyDelete
  83. so why not build it to 70,000 (build it and they will come)

    ReplyDelete
  84. hes still trying to negotiate the suarez deal ,will not be back till hes sold him;-)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sounds about right. Add another 10 points to this season's total and we'll be there. You still going to insist that's not good enough? You think the club should be able to magically get back into the top 4? I'd love to know how you think that's going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  86. FSG need to f***ing get rid of Ian Ayre. How many times is he going to make the club get pushed over in the transfer market? In hindsight, maybe Dempsey and Sigurdsson weren't good targets, but the fact they were both strongly pursued players, stolen from us in the last minute, suggests that Ayre is shit at his job. Most of the players we have bought recently haven't attracted much interest from other clubs, but as soon as a competitor comes in, we buckle. Mkhitaryan was due for a medical, and Ayre still can't work something out for Christ's sake! Why did it take so long to find out he's only partially owned by Shakhtar? I can't seem to think of any benefit Ayre has given to Liverpool. He absolutely embarrassed himself during the Suarez racism affair.

    ReplyDelete
  87. There's nothing wrong with trying to be successful through growing your own players. It's not like we only do that- we've gone after players like Mkhitaryan, but Ayre's ineptitude is a major obstacle in trying to secure that deal. Arsenal has only struggled on field in recent years because they're trying to pay off their stadium debt before they start charging at the transfer market again. Once they've paid it off, their policy of nurturing players and being financially wise will pay off.

  88. And just realise, given our on field position at the moment, it's going to be hard to attract world class players all the time. So we have to cleverly look in places that have been overlooked by others, and achieve what Newcastle did a couple of seasons ago in the transfer market.

  89. Courtois is not ill, he is outsourced :-) Which means he stil works for the same company as Cech but not in the same department. So part of the company, not the department.

  90. and not a penny less

  91. lol so 6th is exceptable

  92. if you like,we can live with medocricy for another 5 years lol

  93. yes we are newcastle a big club in following only,no one wants to sign for us ,give your head a shake ,we will be like newcastle if we carry on but not at the moment

  94. Yeah but if he wasn't as you say "Sh*t at his job" we'd be stuck with 2 players that weren't that good. I'd much rather have Cout & Studge than Dempsey and Siggy.

  95. I think its amazing and bemusing how under the radar Honda is. Contract situation + commercial value + talented, yet not a lot of public interest, in terms of known clubs being interested in him.

  96. I like Reus, I like the directness of his game (though my fave player there is Gundogan) in terms of homing in on goalscoring chances and spaces, a bit like Ronaldo in that sense but I don't think they'll sell him, even if they get HM, as I think German clubs make a conscious effort to have a strong German presence in their teams and they only recently bought him back for considerable money. Especially with Gotze gone. Although I don't know anywhere enough about HM, as to how similar he is to Reus.

HM is your candidate, with the way things are going you must be a bit disappointed ;)

  97. Zanatos - perhaps you should write an article outlining Kiessling's qualities, and why you think LFC should sign him? If you did, I'd post it. What do you think...?

  98. Has anyone watched any games in the FIFA U20 World Cup?
The player thats caught my eye is JUAN FERNANDO QUINTERO he plays for COLOMBIA and isn't attached to a major club. This boy will turn into a superstar, we should snap him up while he's still affordable.
I saw LUCAS DIGNE a player linked to us a few weeks back.I followed him even without the ball and he reminds me of LIZARAZU.He did make a dreadful mistake by almost giving away a penalty but the ref bottled it.However he looks technically good and aggressive and i think he'd give JOSE ENRIQUE the competition he needs at LB.

  99. Sounds like a great idea to me. I will get on it over the weekend as crazy busy with work this week :-)

  100. Good shout with Gundogan.

I am a little disappointed in the steep increase in price. I do want the player, however I feel he is now being over priced, by some way. In this respect it is making me more split on the deal.

I like HM as I saw/see a real talent in him and that he was (should have been), a mid priced player. Therefore you would have been getting a player of great skill for a decent price. That was one of the aiding factors into why I thought he would be good for us. Now the price has risen rather a lot, I am wondering if there is better options for that price.

I mean the latest is they want 25mil for him. For 25mil I think you could get almost any AM, minus a few world class players.

I still want him, just hope it isn`t for as much as the rumours are making out. I think if you look at a line up with him in it it looks a lot better than without. Does it look 25mil better? no.

For all his talent and skill there is still a large question mark over if he can take that to a much higher level in the prem. Again this is why I liked him at say 16mil.

I`m too undecided on this one, so if we don`t get him, I think I wont be that disappointed as long as we get someone else of the same ilk.

  101. I posted in the other thread about the price thing but I am a bit taken aback by the prices now being touted for HM. So I can understand somewhat your view regarding the price. If the club has really got the cojones to spend £25m+ on a player again, great but on HM? I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  102. thats my issue too. For 25mil you need to be world class already in my books. HM is very talented but still has a way to go to become world class.

  103. Like I've said, we've only grabbed players only pursued by Liverpool, and again like I said, Dempsey and Siggy in hindsight were better left alone considering we got studge and cout

  104. Why isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  105. if shankly had thought 6th was exceptable,we would have never won it 5times

    ReplyDelete
  106. It took Shankly 3 seasons to even get us in the 1st division. Saying something is acceptable doesn't mean you stop trying to improve, but Shankly would have recognised that you don't just walk into a club and instantly start winning titles. By all means go ahead and insist that 6th just isn't good enough, but what else do you seriously expect to happen? There isn't a manager on the planet who could turn this team into instant title contenders without being bankrolled by billionaires. You'd prefer perhaps we get bought out by some oil rich Arabs and become their play toy?

Next season we get sixth, maybe higher if the points table is kind to us, the season after that we can realistically expect 3rd or 4th. The season after that we can realistically expect to be challenging for the title again. What fantasy land do you live in where it could be any different?

    ReplyDelete
  107. shankly built the club and the history, rodgers is just taking it on ,and what fantasy land do you live in m8 this year 6th ,next year 3 then challenge for the title ,what crystal ball you looking in ,just because you believe in fairys do not expect me two,go back to dreamland ,and do not posy me anymore of your future seeing views ,i suggest you concentraite on the lottery instead all seeing one

    ReplyDelete
  108. I have no idea what you're trying to get at. Answer me a question: is 6th place next year an improvement or not?

    ReplyDelete
  109. it is an improvement on last season so what it will not be hard to improve on last season.if your targets are lpw its easy to improve and rodgers set the bar very low

    ReplyDelete
  110. look m8 you have it your way.i will have it mine, there is no point carrying on with this

    ReplyDelete
  111. can anyone help me where can I find a list of every Liverpool signing over 1 million
