Hamann blasts: LFC are 'better off' without selfish Reds star. Agree...?

Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has expressed his disappointment over Luis Suarez's wish to jump-ship this summer, and he's accused the controversial Uruguayan of being ungrateful, and causing the club to lose 'respect' across the world.

Responding to Suarez's comments this week about needing 'change of environment' Hamann said:

"I hope the club will not get held to ransom. He [Suarez] is a great player but the club has lost a lot of respect and credibility.

"Suarez has been a fantastic player for LFC but he brought all the trouble on himself. Banned for 18 games in 2 seasons. I will not be sad if leaves.

"I don't have a problem with players moving, it's part of the game, but after biting Ivanovic I thought that if he's got half a conscience he'll stay here. On top of that, LFC's record is a lot better without him, and he'll miss the first six games anyway"

other Reds legends agree that Suarez has a duty to stay at Anfield for another year. John Aldridge told the Liverpool Echo:

"We will soon see what happens but I think he [Suarez] should give us one more season after the magnificent support he's had".

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live this week, Ray Houghton noted:

"Liverpool brought him in, nurtured him, gave him the opportunity and he has flourished. His form for Liverpool is why Real Madrid are looking at him. I think he might owe Liverpool one more year to see if he can get them into the top four".

Speaking to Sky Sports, Graeme Souness called Suarez's behaviour 'upsetting', but insisted the Reds need to keep him next season. He also observed:

"I find it strange that he [Suarez] is complaining about the press because as the end of the day he has got to look at himself, he has brought it on himself what he has been involved in"

Clearly, Hamann, Houghton and Souness are right: Suarez's complaints about press treatment are total nonsense - if he didn't bite/cheat/dive etc, newspapers would have nothing to write about.

The underlying complaint from Souey et al seems to be Suarez's selfishness, i.e. turning his back on the club that has backed him through thick and thin over the last year. It's hardly surprising, though. This is what happens when you sell your soul to gain an advantage, and persistently rationlise/condone negative behaviour, which is precisely what LFC - and a large subsection of fans** - have done.

And what have they got for that? Absolutely nothing.

Suarez has shoved that pigheaded loyalty down the collective throat of the fans who consistently enabled his behaviour, and subjugated the club with their sycophantic hero-worship.

How does it taste? Personally, I hope these enabling fans choke on it.

The ultimate irony is this: the same fans who worshipped Suarez like some kind of unimpeachable god are now burning his shirt (!)

** I specifically state a 'large subsection of fans', not ALL LFC fans.

  2. He is making noises to get his transfer fee lower. I say get between 40-50 million or he stays anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I was wondering when you would report on this.

I agree with Hamann. Yet you still label me as a Suarez fan over Liverpool. TBH I've know idea here you get it from.

  4. At the end of the day, we got him because of the controversy of his ridiculous behavior and will see him go under a similar cloud.

Suarez is a great player but each antic of his (and the subsequent defenses of his behavior) drags the great name of LFC down another notch.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I just hope we move him on asap, even if that sees us get closer to £40m than the desired £50m. We get Suarez for below market value due to his behavior, and should just cut our losses and let him go in the same manner.

If not, we risk being held to ransom at the end of the window (he WILL almost definitely leave now this summer) in the same was as we were with Mascherano, and likely end up without the desired fee anyway (especially if Madrid spend big on Bale first) plus no adequate replacements either.

Moving on quickly is best for all parties involved.

    ReplyDelete
  6. why doesn't he stand up and face his demons rather then running away everytime???? what will happen when he does the same in Spain???>

    ReplyDelete
  7. Do not care if he leaves yes a great player gone but a player that undoubtedly bought shame on himself.
The club and fans have been great in their support of him and he has virtually spat in our faces.
Personally i do not care where he goes as long as its for a big transfer fee and hopefully the money will be spent on younger talent that will perform.
I subscribe to the idea of loving the club it will always be there players wont and remembering these people play football thats it and most do not make good role models.

    ReplyDelete
  8. "And what have they got for that? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" £50m is hardly
nothing. If he stays he gives us more fantastic football, if he leaves
he gets us money to build a new team. Suarez is helping Liverpool either
way. If Liverpool fans hadn't of stuck by him and we got rid of him after the Evra thing Liverpool would've only gotten their money back but now we'll get more than double!

  9. Nobody is bigger than the club. I agree, if you start treating individual players like suarez, differently because they are world class. And ignoring the morals of the club, the player gets above his station. In this case, get the maximum transfer fee. The tactic from Suarez is to lower the fee. But he has also made it hard for Liverpool to get a replacement at a reasonable price, when clubs know you have alot to spend. Its time Liverpool look after their interests, now, demand 50 million, minimum.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm not talking about financial rewards; I mean, the fans have got nothing from Suarez in return for their pigheaded loyalty, i.e. no loyalty in return/appreciation of the massive support he's received.

Get 50 plus million for him, get in bentekke, and mkhitarian :-) plus we will have some funds left over! Sell one good player get two in ;-)

  13. Would be more concerned if he stays...

After all that has happened, can't imagine him being anywhere near Liverpool next season, seconds after the biting incident, my view was he has deep-seated attitude problems and I expected him to go this summer, so I haven't changed my view in anyway!

Now we are all viewers to the LS reality show and I have to say, this is not Liverpool, never has been and never will!

I do feel ashamed for him, so lets get what we can and move on quickly, I do not want this drama queen dragging us along and making LFC look silly... I hope LFC will get the transfer request in writing, then tell the watching world, first £50m gets him!!!

  14. I would like to apologize for all canine references made in the blog post (from April) below in regards Luis Suarez. Doggies are honest, dependable, lovely and loyal. Further, they have the capacity for contrition and change. Clearly none of the aforementioned qualities can be associated with the South American.

Hence, to all dogs and dog owners: I am very sorry for any offence and embarassment caused by the Luis Suarez associations; they were metaphorical references fueled by disappointment.

LFC fans should be relieved that Suarez is leaving. The Club is handling his shenanigans in a professional manner, which means we should receive sufficient funds to replace him with two top-class footballers. If Real Madrid want him, then Higuain plus Alonso and some cash will do nicely.

Same thing happen with modric, levy didn't budge and he got his price for him. Liverpool hold all the cards Suarez is tied to a contract, also same with Torres he put in a transfer request to force the move and we still got the 50 million for him.

  23. How many fans have burned his shirt? I've seen one.
How you can say exactly what they thought of Suarez before they burned it is beyond me - Jamie Kanwar - Psychic ?
Maybe they disliked him playing for us as much as you do , blaming it on previous 'hero worshippers' is pure speculation, and this time Jamie, you can't just hide behind 'it's my opinion'
Some fans have burnt the shirt, I've not seen any mass burnings so you or I have no idea if they worshipped or hated Suarez.
I don't think we've sold our soul . Clearly you and some others do, but very little evidence bar narrative is there to show any lasting or major effect on our standing across the world. No sponsors have dropped out. Players still describe us in glowing terms right here on your site. Eriksen for example. So enough with the hand wringing already.
Suarez should have kept his mouth shut, given us one more season to see if we could get a CL place, then left with our blessing if we failed.
Instead , we will get enough money to put us ahead of schedule in returning the club top our place amongst the top sides in the country.
And you will have lost your richest source of subject matter.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You are quite aware that that is patently untrue regarding appreciation of the massive support.
I put a proper word by word translation of the whole interview on this very site, and in it we are described BY SUAREZ in glowing terms.
I don't believe that you're unaware of that Jamie.
This is why your motivations and tactics re Suarez are questioned so frequently. Nothing to do with enabling.

    ReplyDelete
  25. We now finally have to show him that this is a special club bigger than any player. We will hold firm and he WILL NOT hold us to ransom. If a nouveau riche club like Man City can do that over Tevez we can certainly do it over Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The best thing to do is get all our other dealings done first so clubs dont hold onto the idea that we're sitting on 50m or whatever, but I think selling LS would benefit the club as a whole,Im pretty sick by the fact LS has shown nothing for the support the club has shown him but his antics have really dampened my support for him,Just think with 50m we could seriously buy 2 or 3 really top quality players if its spent right

    ReplyDelete
  27. I see red people1:19 pm, June 02, 2013

We will be losing a great player but the clubs name is far more important. If Suarez stays you can guarantee that there will be something else happening next season to drag this club through the mud again.

Funny thing is that his career ended at Ajax by biting another player and we signed him while he was suspended. The exact same thing has happened again. Was this all a plot in order to force his way out of Anfield?

Instead of blaming the media and dragging the club through the mud again he should have just kept his mouth shut and spoken to the club in private instead of voicing his sorrows in the media.

The only way we will get the most out of the deal is for him to hand in a transfer request so lets make Real Madrid pay like Chelsea did for Torres.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i suspect your comment will soon be deleted like mine was ,jaimie has called everyone who as tried to have a different opinion on suarez an enabler, and now some posters have started to agree with him who did not he cannot contain his smugness, just because suarez wants to leave so what if he ever read the threads on here he probably would never have signed in the 1st place, suarez if he goes and we get 40million plus i would have no hard feelings its life we could or would not match his ambitions but all fans better get used to it because the next world class player we get(maybe coutinho)will not want to stay around anylonger, untill the club starts showing ambition again

"To this day I feel identified with Liverpool, not to mention I have a contract with them. They saw great potential in me and I grew up as a player in Liverpool"

    " If I stay, I stay delightfully cause it's a
    spectacular club"
He should have more loyalty imo. But he has shown appreciation of what has been done for him, just doesn't feel obligated enough to not consider leaving. He's wrong in my eyes.

I would rather go for Lukaku than Benteke. Doubt we are signing Eriksen if we complete the deal for Luis Alberto.

    ReplyDelete
  35. lets face it loads of us want to burn the 3rd strip anyway!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Seriously? I think Benteke is way better than Lukaku, he's got pretty much everything, pace, power, skill. Lukaku still has a way to go yet.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Jamie, I think your grasping at straws to somehow try to blame the fans, I mean come on "Enabling Behaviour"
The reason LFC fans stick by Suarez is because at this moment in time he is part of the LFC family, nothing more, not because we "Hero worship" him.
Rightly or wrongly to hold these views is up to the specific individual who holds those beliefs. I am as staunch an LFC fan as anyone, I think Suarez is a world class player who most teams around the world would love to have in their side, complete with his baggage if they could afford him. This is not hero worship, this is just seeing that his football outweighs his baggage. Do I wish he could curb his appetite for the game, No, do I wish he stayed at LFC, Yes, do I wish he could show more self control on the pitch, again Yes.
He has let himself, LFC and its fans down, 18 games banned is not great obviously, and yet we still see offers of £40 mill + for him, which suggests he still has a great future in football. Wouldn't it be great if he could just give us one more season, an the icing on the cake if it was a Suarez incident free season. The main problem I see is that we lose a world class player an end up signing more mediocre players, instead of another world class player

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't know why fans continue to believe otherwise.

Forget what they may say or do to in an attempt to endear themselves at a club, it's all just part of their job as football players.

All that matters to me is that the player performs on the pitch while he's at LFC, and earns the club a decent fee when he moves on. How much he supposedly likes/respects/loves the fans/the club/the city is redundant.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I see red people1:47 pm, June 02, 2013

Lukaku is younger so he is a better prospect and was chased by many clubs before Chelsea snapped him up. Benteke went to Villa, has had a first good season in the EPL but might not be able to make the grade at a bigger club. It would be best to only look at him once he has completed a second season..

    ReplyDelete
  40. If he were part of the LFC family, then wouldn't all players deserve the same worship?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hmmm can't help feeling that if we get £50 mill+, the price of all our transfer targets will also soar

    ReplyDelete
  42. I see red people1:51 pm, June 02, 2013

I like Suarez as a player and most fans have backed him all the way. The least he could have done is give us another season.

All the loyalty we have showed to him has been flushed down the drain. Not sure how I feel if the club decide to stand their ground and keep him for next season.

It would be better if he goes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. mate, why do you persist with this website, if all you do on here is moan and whinge, and criticise jaimie with snipes 24/7? I just feel like you're always wasting your time here!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I disagree, we have seen some great football from a world class player. I guess when he goes you will have to start writing negatively about Lucas or Henderson again

    ReplyDelete
  45. I agree to some extent however, I think Suarez is replaceable, before he came to us nobody else was really scrambling for his signature, they showed passing interest but we were the club to make a concrete offer. My point is, we make players world class and just like Torres before him, we'll do it again. What everyone needs to understand is that we as fans are powerful, we're not called the twelfth man for nothing. Think about it, without us do you think the teams we have had in the past 10 years would have won anything? Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Didi Hamman, these are all players who were good, but we elevated them to star level with our support (Obviously management counts as well). Torres hasn't just been poor at Chelsea because of form, a lot of it has to do with confidence, something as fans we give to players. We just need to understand that today, football is as fickle as anything and we need to come to terms with that when players decide to up sticks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think this may actually happen.

    ReplyDelete
  47. True, about Lukaku but I don't see him with a natural fighting instinct (And I mean that as a euphemism), he has a lot of the other attributes but I think he's the type of player that if the game isn't going his way I can see his shoulders dropping. I've also seen him muscled off the ball, now, I just don't see that with Benteke.

    ReplyDelete
  48. liverpool4life5652:02 pm, June 02, 2013

    Agree with you :-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's why we negotiate with those teams first and once it's confirmed (The 50+) Then we announce Suarez's departure 'by mutual consent' lol

    ReplyDelete
  50. I see red people2:09 pm, June 02, 2013

Here is the difference, there is just no pressure on Benteke at Villa, he is their best player and hardly has competition.

Lukaku on the other hand had competition and managed to work his way as a regular for WBA. This lad has plenty of fight in him at his age.

Will Benteke score 20 goals for Liverpool with competition for places in the squad?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I do not get this "duty to stay" thing. Would we want a player who does not like being here just to see him play out this "duty" term? Just let him leave. As I have argued many times, Liverpool Football Club will benefit much more than lose from his sale.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't blame Suarez for leaving if he does ,all you guys would be doing the same if you were in the same situation , hated by the press/media , no European football and maybe earn more money abroad don't be a bunch of hypocrites, think.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's not worship, it's called support and I support all our players equally. I have never berated any of our players, I remember the abuse that Lucas got, the abuse Henderson got and still gets, Downing et al to name a few, I have supported them all because they are LFC players and part of the club I love. To put it simply, I worship LFC because it will be around long after players leave, and I support the players whilst they play for our club, there is a subtle difference. I don't have a single LFC shirt with a players name on it's back, not one. How many have you got?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I hope Hamann had a look at what Suaréz actually said and not what Sky twisted, erm, translated out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That is assuming that we get the required funds and pick up players of the required talent level of course. I definitely agree that the loss of Suarez, as good as he is, is a reason that we can't kick on next season though.

The sales of the probable outgoings like Carroll, Suarez, Skrtel, Downing, Reina & Coates (plus reserves like Spearing) for a very conservative total of ~£75m could fund spend on a +£20m ST, £20m WF, £10m DM, £15m CB & £10m GK, which would completely change the look of our team and keep us moving forwards

    ReplyDelete
  56. There is no other "duty to stay" than his contract. The same reason why I go to work and they see it as my duty to be in office all day (half day to be honest). The contract.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I see red people3:05 pm, June 02, 2013

Yeah the media may have taken it a bit to far but Suarez only has himself to blame. If you are one of the best players in the world and go and bite people you will get taken to the cleaners by the media so not sure why Suarez is using the media as an excuse to make his exit sound sweeter.

He should have had the guts to approach the club behind closed doors and told us he wants to leave because of wanting to take his career to the next level. He has made his bed, bow he has to lie in it.

Does he think the Spanish media will treat him any different when he causes trouble in Spain? Luis has major baggage and trouble will follow him so good luck to the next team he plays for.

    ReplyDelete
  58. So many changes at one time may make the coming season another transitional period. Five or six new first-team starters and they may need quite some time to gel.

    ReplyDelete
  59. No one has twisted what Suarez said; you just want to believe that's the case. The essence of what he said - no matter what the literal word-for-word - is that he wants to leave.

You seem to be ignoring the real issue here too, which is that, once again, Suarez is talking about his future in public, to the extent he specifically name-checks Real Madrid. This is massively disrespectful to LFC, and to Rodgers, who specifically stated that players should not talk about the club whilst on international duty.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think it's a bit hypocritical of you Jamie to say about sniping when you use terms like sycophantic, pigheaded.slavering etc to describe fans who support Suarez & say they can choke on tbeir hero worship

    ReplyDelete
  61. It doesn't have to be a transitional year if we're picking up players ready to contribute to the first team, and not more inexperienced "long term projects"

Suarez (+Carroll), Skrtel (+Carragher & Coates), & Reina are likely off whether we like it or not, and Downing wouldn't be missed, so that's four first team clear holes in the first team that will need to be filled, Not to mention the additional forward and ballwinner that was needed last year, even before any departures. I just say get everything over and done with asap, rather than stretching the transition out unnecessarily.

(I didn't include any mention the less realistic outgoings of Borini & Johnson that I would also advocate if the money were right)

    ReplyDelete
  62. REAL MADRID can f5ck off with that sh4t deal.If they don't come to the table with the money we want, no deal it's simple.Like LIVERPOOL4LIFE565 said "we hold all the cards."If we get a tough negotiator someone who takes no prisoners we'll get the 50m+ we want.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm not talking about fans who support Suarez; I'm talking about the fans who persistently rationalise and condone his behaviour purely because he's a good player, i.e. those with the attitude 'who cares if he dives/cheats/bites - he's a great player so that makes it okay'.

There's a difference. Moderate fans who support Suarez also accept that he sullies the club's name, and can see why it would not be so bad if he left.

The fanatics can indeed choke on it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. the thing is though, a lot of reds fans who abuse other players like allen would be happy to use the'family' excuse.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Cant stand the chap now. Using the press as his scapegoat? He should take a long hard look in the mirror.
Get rid!! Get a boat load of cash and buy smart this transfer window. The team proved they don't need him. I've been disgusted by people putting next seasons ambitions completely out of context thinking that Suarez is somehow key to anything great that our club can achieve. Banned for 19 games in total in 2.5 seasons. He's a rotten apple and some fans continued attempts to rationalise this flawed genius and his behaviour look like desperation. LFC is greater than any player. I'm disappointed with Souey et al. There are great options out there to fill the Suarez 'void'. Hopefully they do it with the honour and grace this club deserves. Onwards and upwards I say!! Ill miss the scintillating skills of Suarez but he's not a role model, he's not honest and he's turning his back on the team that stood by him with the kind of embarrassing support that you'd give a child. This is a grown man after all. He's not deserving of the red shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  66. get shut asap 50 no less. coates aswell. Reina is acting the tw"t . those 3 should raise 65 mill approx and the 15 million fo andy carroll happy days but we have got to spend well like the last window and no Swansea players!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Agreed. No bloody Swans. Maybe Reading players? Wouldn't mind seeing Pearse in the squad. I think hes a big hearted player. Decent Irish steel too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't think we need suarez to be in top four next year but we do need players to enhance competition at most of the positions and we badly need reinforcement at the back also. hope they dont sell downing!

was just looking at the match against totenham last time. I was thinking that inspite of taking vertongen, sigurdsson away from us, mr villas boas with his false highly confident attitude and his constant habit of trying to shake the earth with his arms each time his team scored a goal couldn't reach top four !!! fortunately that guy didnt come to coach us! i wonder what is his so called project for totenham ! hope that we will teach them a proper lesson next league and put them back in the place they belong by claiming back our position in top four ! I wonder what villas boas will shake then

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ok can admit you are right. I didn't agree with a lot of your comments about suarez during the season but he has now hurt every Liverpool fan who idolised him same as torres. We as fans need to be singing the names of agger lucas reina Johnson and of course stevie (He does have his songs) who have proved themselves over 5 to 6 years and are what Liverpool fc is all about...................Its these names we need to sing from the kop.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Just want to shed a little perspective on this.

First off, I am Uruguayan, therefore Suarez fan first, but have found a soft spot for Liverpool.

Before you drink the kool aid, and jump on the anti-suarez bandwaggon, context is important.

This latest bit stemming from a couple press conferences in Uruguay have been completely taken out of context, mistranslated (purposely?), and exaggerated.

In so far as his comments towards the club are concerned, nothing but praise for the city, club, and fans - "estoy loco de la vida con liverpool", which in fewer words means nothing less than "extatic".

Secondly the whole Real bit was put on to him by a reporter, not the other way around, and his response is totally reasonable. It is the press once again that is twisting everything he said, and since it is said in Spanish, they take artistic liberty in their translations of everything said, making no attributions to tone, even context, conveniently omitting the questions posed to him before such statements were made.

When stating why he might leave, in stating the press treatment, this is not new - and ironically this latest media frenzy on his responses at a press conference only prove his point.

In January he gave an interview to Fox Sports in Argentina, where he expressed his dislike of the unfair treatment he receives from the UK press. The focus on the diving, the mansfield handball. He used an example, the dive against stoke, and admitted that it was a dive, and the felt stupid for doing it, but either way level of reporting on that was rediculous - the press reported his admission as gloating, it was more an acceptance of fault if anything. As for the mansfield handball, he stated it was unintentional, and didn't really even want to score - the press reported on "diabolical intent", and called on his integrity, that he should have owned up to it to the ref - the examples of a player doing this throughout the history of the game can be counted on one hand.

It is completely understandable that this could get to someone, it is true and little thing he's done is blown out of proportion, even trivialities. He has apologized for transgressions where they exist (i.e Ivanovich, not Evra), has improved his game (less simulation), and generally will admit to wrong doings. Yes he is a public figure, and misdeeds will get coverage, its part of the game, however there is an obsession with Suarez that goes beyond the acceptable, he receives a different level of scrutiny than anyone else. A human being can only tolerate so much.

As for him and Liverpool, he has had nothing but good things to say about the club, the fans, the players, and the city, and rightfully so, the club have stood by him. You cannot name another player that plays as passionately or gives as much to the team, in fact, it's hard to think of any other player in the prem, or world even that plays as passionately as him.

So before you all get your panties in a bunch, and throw the baby out with bathwater, wait it out - there's a good chance he'll stay, he's never played like someone that doesn't want to play for the club. It would be Liverpool's loss.

He has a duty to his country to take interviews, I don't think it's a surprise that he finds the UK press annoying, and that it would be difficult to say no to Real - none of this should be news.

As for me, as I say, I'm a Suarez fan first, I honestly would hope he stays - he's worked hard, and has a point to prove, and the team has improved.

What irks me more is the thought of Glenn Johnson going for one to many dribbles, or taking one of his famous shots into the stands from 30yds out.

  72. Erm, so, you think that the media don't twist and mistranslate things people say in other parts of the world? I would find that a bit naive, to be honest.

There is no such thing as what I want to believe. I just don't take one headline that makes the round by face-value. Unfortunately my Spanish isn't worth mentioning, so I had to read an alternative translation to what Sky and other media translated. And I was a bit surprised, to say the least.

No, I don't ignore the real issue. What do you expect a football player, who might not be the sharpest tool in the box, reply if asked about stuff like that. At least the guy is honest.

I agree, in an ideal world no player would talk about their future in public, but why the uproar now that Suaréz did it? You do quote on your site very often players we are linked to who make similar noises. Can't remember that you once had a problem with it. Is it ok if a player wanting to move to us does it, but wrong if one possibly wanting to leave us? Shouldn't you claim every time we are linked to someone who said something like wanting to move to a bigger club/better league should never be signed, because it shows their character and attitude towards their current employer? I think you should do that.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Reina has very often in the past claimed that he would like to play for Barcelona again. You may take him off your list. Stevie was on his way to London already to sign for Chelsea, remember?

  77. He must leave but no less then 55mn

    ReplyDelete
  78. Why should I care what other players for other teams do? They don't play for LFC. Additionally, my point re Suarez talking in public about his future is linked to Rodgers specifically saying LFC players shouldn't do that. Nowhere did I state that Suarez discussing his future publicly had anything to do with his character/attitude, but if you were considering this without being (IMO) over emotional about it, you would see that.

If you could, please list the sentences you claim were misrepresented by the media, and show how the meaning of what Suarez said has been twisted.

Where did your alleged 'independent' translation come from? Who translated it? Can you post a link? Are we to believe that every news outlet on the planet reporting this issue has got it wrong, and this one 'independent' translator you cite has got it right?

As I noted in my previous post, the literal translation is somewhat irrelevant - no matter what the -word-for-word meaning, Suarez has indicated that he wants to leave. That's the point.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Nicely said and spun but I don't agree with how much emphasis he has put on the media excuse, nor do I agree with your attempt either. The so-called bad media attention was dying down before the Ivanovic bite and it started up again, why? because yet again he did something wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  80. tbh I don't mind if we keep him hes another option.aleast we then have a plan b and the way Rodgers treated him was gabn

  81. Who's next Gerrard ? You can't blame Suarez for leaving although the manner and timing is poor. Our core players were sold a plan by ownership which has never materialized. Our top players are way underpaid compared to the top 4 clubs and our transfer policy sucks, 3m , 6m, 8m, 16m free transfers ? Lets face it we are not a top team at the moment we have a mid table team , manager and mentality. Lets hope Steve'y stays! Rogers works some miracles and what talent we do have doesn't look elsewhere.

  84. Please specifically list the sentences from the press conference that have been 'completely taken out of context, mistranslated and exaggerated'.

Please post the alleged 'mistranslated' section next to the correct section.

His praise for LFC is not the point here. No one has suggested that he doesn't praise LFC. You re just muddying the waters - the key parts of his comments are that he said he wants to leave/cites the press as the reason/says he has to leave because of his family etc.

Your point about Real Madrid is also a red herring. Does Suarez not have a mind of his own? If someone asks him about Madrid, does he have to say 'it would be difficult to say no'?

NO. He could just say 'I'm happy at LFC and I have a contract'. He CHOSE to say that; he CHOSE to fans the flames of speculation, and he clearly did that for a reason. There is nothing mistranslated about his Madrid statement, and nothing has been twisted. If it has, please specifically list the part that has been twisted. Thanks.

  85. All these former players are talking as if Suarez is already gone.

Why can't everyone relax for a second and wait for this thing to play out?

If he goes, please, by all means have at him.

But what if he stays? Does everything that's been said over the past week by former players and supporters become forgotten? Does everything that Suarez has said become forgotten?

My point is: Nothing has happened yet and until it does, nothing anyone (Suarez, fans, former players, etc) says means anything.

    ReplyDelete

  88. Media attention was waning to just above normal levels, but still disproportionate at that time. There was the announcement of the PFA player of the year shortlist that week- president was justifying Suarez's inclusion - like the top scorer in the league need a justification.

His press coverage has always been disproportionately bad, every article listing past "crimes", etc.

He's an athlete, not an angel, but he's an easy target, sure he mucks up, but at the end of the day he is a player - most of the stuff is no different than what any other player does, so to say its his fault, and he deserves the treatment is wrong - unless you feel its wrong that the rest don't get this treatment. (some level of bad press is warranted - but its overboard with him - If I had the tools I could prove this (i.e media monitoring software), however my personal monitoring of the media would lead to this conclusion.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Dream on. No player will be put off signing for LFC over Suarez. He has not been mistreated by the FA or the media - he deserves everything he's got over the last couple of years. He brought everything on himself; no one told him to bite/dive/cheat/use racial language on the field/refuse to shake hands/give Fulham fans the finger. Suarez did all that, and it's normal to get barracked by the press for that.

    ReplyDelete
  98. we have to consider the squad around them in their respective stints. torres had xabi masch and stevie at his best around him whilst suarez had support nothing like that in his time here. you are right to point out that his approach to the game has lead him to miss like 19 games in those 2 seasons and in that period of time had scored and created goals much more single handedly then most other top strikers in this era. in a seriously mediocre squad we have had these past 2 seasons, especially the last one, suarez has been the difference. i agree i am being too lobsided in using the word singlehanded but it is not that farfetched if we think about it. even with such a bad temperament suarez could attract interest from real, certainly he shud fetch us more than torres did a couple of years back

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah but I wouldn't be making "come and f*** me" eyes in public which only serves to prevent my club, who have supported me thick and thin, from receiving fair compensation for my services.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I really hope that's the case and the inevitable Suarez Strike doesn't deter the management from getting the best deal possible. A £40M bid gets Real to the table. Any other public announcements from the player or Madrid must be ignored.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm not going to go out and seek each and every misquote, or mistranslation, because there are far too many within hundreds (yes hundreds) of articles circulating on this subject in the English media. You live there, you see stories everyday, it's no stretch of the imagination that the english press will mangle things to their liking. As a fluent speaker of Uruguayan Spanish, and English, I ask that you take my word for it.

As for his responses to the Real topic, I'll conceed that it is not the best example of media managment. But he did say he had a contract with LFC, and that he is exctatic with the club and fans. So I'll meet you half way on that. He could have flat out said no, I'm with liverpool, end of story.

He only gives interviews every few months, so don't expect any Obama-esque public speaking from the guy - he should get media training.

I think people are jumping the gun on the Real thing, if he doesn't go (quite probable) it is probably the best thing for Liverpool - there were only three players that scored more than 20 goals last year. If he leaves it is understandable for a myriad of reasons - harsh treatment by the media being one of them, though for liverpool this is worse option of the 2.

My prediction: he stays, new contract higher wages, no champions next year he leaves.

    ReplyDelete
  102. If you're not going to back up your contention that Suarez's comments have been ' have been 'completely taken out of context, mistranslated and exaggerated', then your complaint holds no water.

It should be easy: find one news outlet (choose the Guardian/BBC/Telegraph/Mirror/whatever), and show he he's been misquoted.

The reality is he hasn't been misquoted; you just want everyone to think he has because you support him.

    ReplyDelete
  103. We don't have someone like Levy at Liverpool so i can imagine us being easily bullied in the transfer window.Whoever wants him pay up at our price or they can piss off.If Madrid wants him badly enough give us 30 Million + Higuain /Di Maria

  104. When he gets banned for 20 games in two and a half years. Real have just come off the back of Jose Mourinho poking people in the eye. ReplyDelete
  108. The timing is much better than Torres' timing was. We should set a deadline until we entertain any offers for Suaréz to prevent us from having to act within mere hours to find a replacement.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I disagree. I don't think anyone will say that Suarez is at no fault, and is 100% victim. I think the overall theme is that both press treatment an FA punishments have been disproportionate.

How many players were banned for "racial abuse" before Suarez? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the answer is 0. He was made an example of, and for trivial reasons. Do you honestly think the was the first player ever to refer to someone by their colour?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Here is one that was published several times.

Suarez called Evra the "N word", "Nigger" or "Negro" (pronounced NeeGro, not Neygro). What he called Evra was simply "black" nothing more nothing less. If that isn't a perfect example of a mistranslation I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  111. jaimie evra dropped is hand at the handshake then played the accused again once suarez had walked past ,the others yes your right but you cannot blame him for everything when suarez stopped diving the sky commentators never gave up about it ,infact i think they brung a new camera out called the suarez cam the handball was unfortunate against mansfield yet the media went on as thou he was playing for the harlem globetrotters

    ReplyDelete
  112. Finally we get someone on here who actually understand Spanish. I read an alternative translation of the Suaréz interview, alternative to what the English media have made of it. I said so on here, but then people tell me that I only see what I want to see. Now, your comment suggests that it is rather the translation I read reflects the true content of the interview than what the headline grabbing media have twisted it to be. Would you mind having a look over that translation and tell people on here whether that is closer to what Suaréz has said than what the media want to make us believe?

    ReplyDelete
  113. How many Prem players were charged with racial abuse prior to Suarez? How many actual complaints were made? The FA can only act when a complaint is made and/or the evidence is so overwhelming (.e. Terry) that a charge is inevitable.

No doubt there have been dozens of incidents of racial abuse in the past, but if the player concerned doesn't report it, then there's not much that can be done.

That still don't excuse the FA from having a pi$$-poor record of stamping out racism, but in this case, the fact they made an example out of Suarez is a good thing. They had the opportunity, and they took it. If it was someone else, it would've been the same.

And as the FA report confirms, Suarez received a more severe ban than Terry due to 'aggravating factors' - The FA found him guilty of using the word negro multiple times, which is an aggravating factor.

I personally think that the FA's decision to find him 'guilty' using the world 'negro' 6/7 times is a disgrace as there is not evidence to prove it (he only admitted saying it once), but the fact remains the FA believes that, which explains the severity of the ban.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Even the Prime Minister had his say. I for one find that very much over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Again, Anteater - please illustrate with examples how Suarez has been mistranslated.

    ReplyDelete
  116. jaimie if the suarez and terry roles had been reversed and suarez had been caught clear as day saying it ,suarez would have got a massive ban imo

    ReplyDelete
  117. To be fair Jaimie I did compare him to a ho. I stand by that though. He is a ho who can't keep his mouth shut. Especially when Florentino Perez unzips his trousers.

    ReplyDelete
  118. i dont see hw a liverpool supporter can slate a player who has played with his heart on his sleeves each time he has played for us to this extent. fans tend to disregard the fact that players are human beings themselves. his concern over his daughter is as valid as it gets. he has said nothing against the fans or the club. everyone makes mistakes and he is no different. no matter who it is, when people start encroaching your personal space in a totally foreign land, we would want to leave. anyways what i was trying to say is that it is stupid to sell suarez for anything less than 50 million given his abilities on the ball, as we can never get an apt replacement either because there is simply no options or they would not even consider coming to us given our current plight. just keep hold of him and when the season starts, everything will settle down. no one is bigger than a club, especially if it is liverpool mate, but lets realize that suarez has never suggested that he is. his intentions are definitely an offshoot of his personal life.

    ReplyDelete
  119. well the less said about that the better he should concentrait on his own job because believe me plenty think hes a tit

    ReplyDelete
  120. What does this have to do with Suarez's recent press conference being 'mangled'? Nothing. So, again: please post examples of how Suarez has been mistranslated.

Also, this is not an example of mistranslation, or Suarez's words being twisted. He did, as a matter of irrefutable fact, call Evra 'Negro' on the pitch. Suarez admitted this in his own witness statement.

For you to call it 'mistranslation' just goes to show that you - like him - refuse to accept how using that word in a *hostile environment* produces a certain connotation.

Suarez didn't use the word as a term of endearment - he was engaged in hostility with Evra when he said it, which clearly means he said it in a negative manner, with negative meaning.

    ReplyDelete
  121. so the fee is 50 mill and a bl"wjob

    ReplyDelete
  122. I can give you an example of how something was taken out of context, some parts left out, to give things a new meaning:

According to my source (I've posted the link before), Suaréz said this:

Q: What can you say about the repercussions [your statements had] on the international media?

#Suarez: "Every time I talk, it gets turned into something huge. I only
said I'm very happy in Liverpool, I'll be forever grateful for the way
the club and fans treated me. I love being there because it's a
spectacular club and city, and I still have a contract there. I said
it's hard to say no to Real Madrid because it's normal, you always dream
about [being in] big teams. But I don't have anything yet, I haven't
spoken neither to Real nor LFC, nobody, even my agent hasn't told me
anything yet and that's what keeps me calm. What happens is that there
have been speculations and that's why everything I say will be turned
    into something big.

Do you, Jaimie, think that this is what the media have turned into headlines? I don't think so, because the headline would read "NO CONTACT WITH SUAREZ BY OTHER CLUBS AT ALL".

When Suaréz was asked about Real Madrid's playing style and other clubs interested in him he replied:

"To this day I feel identified with #Liverpool, not to mention I have a
contract with them. They saw great potential in me and I grew up as a
player in #Liverpool, but always in transfer windows there are many
rumors, this [the window] is only getting started, I don't want to
    imagine what's to come next.”

Why doesn't that make any headlines? I can tell you. It won't generate any hits.

  126. I don't see how a Liverpool player can racially abuse a player and lie to my personal hero Kenny Dalglish about shaking hands to make amends. Suarez is Tevez with a bite. He doesn't love the club, he loves football. He would put in that energy regardless of the club he plays for. Our support is merely a byproduct of his passion for the game. We want him to love us and convince ourselves that he does but it's all lip service. When it came down to show his respect and love for the club simply by saying nothing he instead showed his desire for Real Madrid. It's always been about Suarez really, it's just that it hasn't been until now that he's had the choice between the club's interest and his selfish need to force a lower price for his transfer.

    ReplyDelete
  127. In Mike we have someone on here who also read a probably better, and complete, translation of what Suaréz actually said.

  130. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2334623/Luis-Suarez-blasts-David-Cameron-bite-comments.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

from the Daily Mail: Suarez said: 'David Cameron said I wasn’t an example
for the kids or something like that. Why don’t you worry about English
    citizens?'

What the actual quote is : "

"Llegó a hablar el ministro de no se qué, que Suárez era no se qué
para los niños, que para el hijo. Eue se preocupe de ellos que uno
intenta hacer el trabajo del cual ya más pedir perdón del que pedí no
    voy a pedir"

Translation: "Even the minister of I don't know what, said Suarez is something or other towards kids, that for his child... ...He should worry about them, one tries to do their job for which I am not going to ask for any more forgiveness than I already have."

I don't know if it was an intentional insult to not acknowledge what "minister" spoke about him, or ignorance, either way the translation isn't entirely accurate. There's a bunch of others, point is meaning, tone, essence of the responses are taken out context, or mistranslated. If you could understand the interview in its entirety, you may have a different view of the gravity of the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Ps: have you ever seen a tabloid photograph of Luis Suarez or his family outside of Anfield or Melwood? If not where is this media pressure that prevents him from going to the supermarket? Does he really expect us to think that he'd get an easier ride from the likes of La Marca and the Spanish press? The same Spanish press that are said to have driven out Mourinho? It's bull and no intelligent Liverpool fan would believe it. We weren't deceived by Hicks and Gillette (well at least some of us eh Jaimie?) and we won't be deceived by Suarez? If he had said "I want to test my ability at Champions League level" or better yet NOTHING AT ALL, we would have given him respect. Instead yet again he is the victim when all of his problems have been of his own making.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Transfer fee! As in if he kept quiet and said privately to the club, he wants to go, Liverpool can then, search about asking for the real price of replacement strikers, that will now be inflated and Liverpool could of been afforded, to conduct the transfer, to benefit themselves. Not the upstart. Comprende?

    ReplyDelete
  133. The whole semantics bit surrounding this word, I will stick by its use in Uruguay, which unless accompanied by negative qualifier is a neutral term.

However, in the context, articles in English saying Suarez called Evra "Negro" without saying that this is "the spanish word for black" are misleading as there is the English word Negro (pronounced Neegro) which has negative connotations. Neygro and Neegro are to different words with different meanings, however the press conveniently overlooked this, and even equated it with the "N word" which it most definitely is not.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Cantt argue that the guy has smeared the club,. It just seems like you generalise sometimes but cheers for reply

    ReplyDelete
  135. We live in an age in which the gap between players and fans grow larger and larger. I feel that fans blindly support players in the hope that their love will be returned. However, reality must set in that players most of the time have no preference to where they play, as long as they can be well paid and achieve silverware. This is not because these footballers are selfish beings, but because they are human. Ask yourself, in your prime as a world class player, would you want to be in a rebuilding club that is not contending for any titles?

Moralists would obviously argue that LFC deserves better because of its unequivocal support of Suarez during his various mishaps, but what does Suarez have to gain from staying another season? He could gain the love of a fanbase, but any fan base will love a player who scores goals for them. If anything, Suarez realizes that the chances of gaining individual honors is higher at other clubs. His angle of "Luis Suarez vs. the British Press" is a red herring, merely hiding why he actually wants to move.

If he stays, I will support him. If he goes, I will not hold it against him, for moving to greener pastures is what humans to do. In the long term, the most important thing for Liverpool is to get their Stadium Expanded, as well as achieve Champions League Qualification, and 50 million Euros in hand is never a bad thing to have.

He just signed an extension last summer, along with a slew of other core players.

How fast do you think this "plan" was going to materialize with a new manager in the fold?

If a plan was sold that said everything was going to turn around within a year with a new manager, I find that hard to believe as it's so unrealistic.

I think that if there's not significant progress made by this time next year, then we have BIG problem.

anyhow if it was a client side error here is the thing again, since im not sure how accurate is the translations thrown around in british press, nor not sure if this is accurate either but worth taking in concideration? and the blog itself was a good one.

  151. If we were Tottenham or someone, I'd agree with Hamann.
On the basis of our transfer record though, I dread to think how we'd spend that money.
If this new scouting team is any good, I think it is in everyone's interest to sell him and put an end to this chapter in the club's history.

  156. I didn't see it as going to 'just above normal levels' but I guess you got to spin/see it to a certain view of yours, which is fair enough. We all do that as its subjective matter.

It is overboard at times (the Evra thing was/is at a time in football where authorities will make a example of people, when it comes to racism subject as its a hot topic. I didn't see it as something personal against Suarez, I saw it as the FA looking to make an example to show off, albeit in a harsh and unlucky manner for Suarez. I didn't see it as personal something against Suarez or some sort of attempt to foil LFC, like some fans like to peddle to excuse two decades of failure) but he keeps feeding them. He wasn't feeding them before the Ivanovic incident and the result was that it was getting better & better, he was getting plaudits instead. It was getting better and it was going to last and improve, as long as he behaved. Did he behave? No. So no, I don't feel much sympathy for him and especially with the focus he has put on it in recent days to engineer circumstances to possibly facilitate a departure.

'most of the stuff' - The rest of the stuff is what sets him apart from the rest as well as the volume of incidents. 'most of the stuff is no different than what any other player does, so to say its his fault, and he deserves the treatment is wrong - unless you feel its wrong that the rest don't get this treatment.' Name me another player that has done as much as he has done and to the level he has done, in terms of no. of incidents and severity in such a short period of time, in recent times. From what I can see, he is by himself in that regard, so its no surprise that he has gotten as much negative spotlight as he has done. He has deserved most of what he has gotten because he is a serial offender and is one of a kind in that respect, as well as how the club & him have dealt with things in terms of PR (for e.g. white bloody t-shirts, my word, how cringeworthy (not necessarily blaming him for that directly)). He is a easy target and rightly so, as he keeps on messing up and in different ways.

I don't agree with him or you, even in your second post, in relation to how much credit is being placed upon his media excuse (or defending of his media excuse). If that is his main reason for unhappiness, than he needs to sort out his behaviour, full stop.

  161. 'His angle of "Luis Suarez vs. the British Press" is a red herring, merely hiding why he actually wants to move.'

Ditto. A pity he has resorted to playing this card. Him and his fellow professional would be surprised at how well received they would be if he has had just said 'I want Champions League football, I want to play in a side that challenges for titles, my next big contract could be my last, etc, as I am now coming into my late 20s.

  162. (1) We have been in dire need of balance in the team. Our defensive line has been nowhere near midfield and attack in its performance and consistency, and midfield wings also need some injection of players. That can be done in a much wider scale when you have extra 50 million to spend; (2) It is much better when a team has two or three well-performing forwards than when it depends on one great forward; (3) The team will benefit from getting rid of negative results of Suarez's character, namely, his bans and atmosphere of negativity around the club; (4) The sportsmanship and fair play values of Liverpool Football Club will be restored after two years of shameful behavior in this sense.

  165. My Suarez shirt is still in hanging proud where it belongs JK. Honestly, I don't see what's wrong with a guy looking after his family before his employer. I'd expect that from people who don't have kids but I'm pretty sure Didi has some and Aldo too. Not sure if Souness spawned anything but he's hardly one to talk about hurting the club. Himself and Moores are the ones who've caused the position we're in.

  168. I don't think he will leave this summer, even though this week has left a bitter taste in my mouth, when it comes to Suarez, so I won't forget this week or this flaw in his character that leads him to do stupid things. I don't think it depends on how much Luis wants to move as to whether he will leave this summer, but depends on other factors, e.g., if Real still have the finances, if they get Bale.

    ReplyDelete
  169. ops so suarez was insulted to the max but that does not matter because evras a saint lol and he can say what he wants

I'd leave with a heavy heart but my family will Always, Always go before everything else. Even Liverpool FC and I have been a supporter of this club for over thirty years now.

  172. 'How many players were banned for "racial abuse" before Suarez? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the answer is 0. He was made an example of, and for trivial reasons. Do you honestly think the was the first player ever to refer to someone by their colour?'

I know the point you are trying to get at but I don't agree with it at all, as times change, circumstances change. It is absolutely useless to rely on precedent in football, this is not a legal system where one has to adhere strictly to precedence most of the time.

What is missing is here, is the time and circumstance. His incident has come at a time when the racism topic has become a hot topic. It is much more sensitive issue than it was before. That is why he got done. His treatment was a reflection of the growing awareness of the lack of action taken by authorities over racism in football. So considering that, it was somewhat proportionate.

No manager has a 100% record in the market, not even the top managers not even Jose or SAF. KK and comolli spent loads on average players Carroll-35 million, downing-20 million hendo-16 and 4 million add on's, Rodgers after time in the job got good players in without spending loads, coutinho 8.5 million, Sturridge-12 million. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  174. And that of course means it will happen just because Real are thinking it. They must have been idiots to be thinking 80 million for Ronaldo. They should have thought 8 million. It would have been a much better deal for them.

  178. It means a summer of lowball offers with Suarez going on £120K a week strike until we accept a lower offer than we would have if it was kept quiet. We did the same with Clint Dempsey so I suppose that it's payback in a way. I just thought Suarez would have valued us more than Dempsey valued Fulham.

  179. They do not appear in papers. If they don't sell papers they don't get taken. Hence no paparazzi issues and a smokescreen for not manning up. I can guess his reason for not returning for pre-season training: my family isn't safe in England etc etc.

  186. Put his hand out but did so unenthusiasticly.

Pull Suarez back to try force him to shake hands.

His hand didn't have to be out and at chest level for it to be shaken.

And Suarez fully apologised for it initially until he read his internet conspiracy theorists and tried to get people to swallow that crap.

  188. good to see england having a good go at it ;-)

  189. And you believe Suarez would go on strike because he has done so before? Or just because it suits your agenda to say unfounded things like this? Anyway, you can be happy the toffee agrees with you a few comments up. T'is good company you keep..

    ReplyDelete
  190. The only photos I've seen of Suarez are on the pitch, in the stand or at Melwood. Never ar his local supermarket or at a restaurant or anywhere else. Why? Because the media don't follow him around they just comment on his onfield actions. If he behaved on the field they wouldn't comment. It really is as simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  191. I had already noticed that Mike obviously read the same transcript of the interview as I. Even posted the link on here, though I don't know whether it went through moderation.

Thought that translation was a 'must read' for every Liverpool supporter, and for everyone who does not want to believe everything simply because some media put it on their website.

  192. Yes I do. He bit someone before right?

And I don't give a sh** who agrees with me as long as I'm right.

    And I am.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Well, I found it very much over the top, because I always thought that a Prime Minister's job is something entirely different than to comment, in public, about football players. What next? Will he pick the England team?
Mugabe was funny. I you asked me about which leader of any country on this planet might be a man-eater, I would say his name. On a side-note, anteater are much less dangerous to men than man-eater.

    ReplyDelete
  194. Totally agree. There is not one single unsanctioned photo online/in print of Suarez at home/in the supermarket, so quite what he's going on about is anyone's guess.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Bit of a jump between commenting on a rare violent type of incident and picking the England team but he can't be any worse than Roy Hodgson, so why not I say :) Anyhoo, the PM shouldn't have much need to comment, even though no one had a problem in him being heavily involved in the World Cup bid but in the grand scheme of things, I don't see it as a big issue, in terms of him making a comment. Luis is not on his own. Cameron even commented on John Terry, on (saying for e.g. Capello shouldn't have objected to Terry being stripped of the captainship) and off record (see G8 summit). He is like one of those old men that think they are being trendy and relevant by talking about such things.

  196. The club is bigger than any player at club, secondly Suarez is his own worst enemy, world class great player but his character and madness in his head keeps coming to the fore.
The owners and B Rodgers need to stand strong and not held to ransom, Suarez is currently the third best player in world football at the moment behind Messi and Ronaldo.
Real Madrid have offered Tottenham over £60M for Bale, So club should take no less than £60-£65M for Suarez.
The only way club should accept £45-£50 is if Higuain or Benzema is a part of the deal, otherwise the club should wait for £60-£65M.
Then with £60-£65M Rodgers could bring in these 5
attacking players to replace Suarez and to bring more class, Depth, Quality competition for places and Quality to club.
    1: FD: C Benteke(21) Of A Villa for £16-£20M
    2: FD: L Muriel(22) Of Udinese for £10-£12M
    3: AM: I Munian(19) Of A Bilbao for £10-£14M
    4: RW / RWF: C Tello(21) Of Barcelona for £8-£10M
5: LW / LWF: D Capel (25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £4-£7M
Those five players would be for now and future of club. Those five players would bring 45-65 goals to side over the whole course of the season.
