'LFC are interested' - Reds monitoring ex-Barca 'traitor' who's 'like Christian Chivu'

The Agent of Juve starlet Pol Garcia Tena has confirmed that Liverpool are interested in signing the young central defender this summer.

In an interview with TMW last night, Matthew Mossini - who represented the 18-year old Spaniard - claimed:

"Liverpool and Malaga are interested.

"Currently, we have not officially talked to anyone.

"What is important is the growth of the boy and a loan experience could be the right solution"

Tena plays for the Juventus youth team in the Campionato Primavera (Girone A), and he's another graduate of Barcelona's famous La Masia academy.

Barca's fans were unhappy that Tena rejected the club's contract offer to leave for Juve, but the youngster denies that he did anything wrong. He told reporters recently:

"I am not a traitor. No one can doubt that I gave everything for Barca. The fans have the right to think what they like, but I am thankful for the three years I spent at the club, which allowed me to learn and develop"

When asked to describe Tena's style of play, Mossini compared the youngster to 'Christian Chivu in his early years ar Ajax', adding:

"He is a very technical defender who can play on the left, either attacking or defending. He has improved a lot tactically at Juve, and despite being a defender, he very skilled with the ball"

  1. No. We already have many young defenders waiting to get a chance in the first team.

  2. No? Our academy should acquire all the top talent possible through the age groups-it's exactly how you build a foundation for success.

  3. The point in the article states "....and a loan experience could be the right solution." He is 18 and would hardly get that many games to justify a loan. Remember, Sahin was not used that often so we never saw the best of him. This guy would be the same.
