I Want Out: 'Incredible' £25m LFC striker target hints at summer exit. Sign ASAP...?

Liverpool target Christian Benteke has given the strongest indication yet that he may be willing to leave Villa Park this summer.

Speaking to The Telegraph recently, Benteke's Agent, Eris Kismet, hinted that the the striker would consider a move at the end of the season. He said:

"At the end of the season, interested clubs will talk to Villa, but it has to be right the buying club and Christian. If all three parties are agreeable, something could happen"

When quizzed about his future at a press conference for the Belgium national team last night, Benteke - who is currently in talks with Villa over a new contract - told Reporters:

“If Aston Villa say I must stay, I won’t necessarily accept that.

“I do not in any way want to feel I didn’t get the most out of my career.”

"I have no fear of falling out of the team. There is no point in me getting into a tug-of-war with Villa."

Clearly, Benteke is open to leaving, which is inevitably given Villa's struggles last season. Liverpool have been regularly linked with a move for the striker, but in the same press conference, Benteke mentioned Arsenal as a potential destination, and I'm sure Arsene Wenger will be interested to hear that.

Last Thursday, Villa boss Paul Lambert warned Benteke that a transfer this summer would be a 'gamble', but heaped praise on the youngster's shoulders. He told the Daily Mail:

"In the second half of the season Christian has scored nearly as many goals as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi which is absolutely incredible really. You are talking about the two best players in the world. The big guy has been scoring goals for us left, right and centre"

Lambert has also slapped a massive £25m transfer fee on Benteke, which seems wildly optimistic considering the Belgian has only one year's experience in the Premier League.

Additionally, over the last few years, many other strikers with more experience and superior goal records have gone for far less than £25m.

Benteke may well be worth that amount, but in reality, the likelihood of Villa achieving that fee seems slim.

I have no doubt that Liverpool could pull off the signing of Benteke if the club pulled out all the stops. Anyone can see that the Reds are going places, and I doubt that lack of Champions League football will bother a player of Benteke's age/experience.

  1. lets just give adam morgan and yesil chances instead whats the point buying all these youngsters if they arent going to get a chance benteke himself was a gamble villa took let us too take our chances with our academy players

  2. 25m is too much

  3. Yawn, time will tell :D

  4. Who said Benteke is a Liverpool target?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Cant see LFC going for him, who gets dropped, Sturridge Suarez, nope it wont happen. But he wont fancy another year in the relegation zone with Villa, my guess would be Arsenal to sign him..

  6. He is often linked, generally on this site!

  7. .......pahahahahahahaha

  8. ADAM MORGAN isn't good enough and YESIL needs another season in the U21's but don't fear RAH because according to some BORINI will come good!

  9. He wants to go to a champions league team....day dream believer!

Or any team which will fight for CL. Not relegation.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think you've just made that bit up ;)

    ReplyDelete
  13. As a Newcastle supporter I find your overall attitude refreshing. You say that " Anyone can see that the Reds are going places" after finishing 7th. NUFC finished 5th last year, and most of the blogs were pure misery. You can only imagine the general tone now we've finished 16th!

Face facts benteke will go to any dream better than villa haha.

  17. TOM, do you and other NEWCASTLE supporters want ANDY CARROLL back?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Never said he won't, it won't be Liverpool though, get over it

Did I say liverpool? Read over my comments I said he Will leave.

  21. You are right! How stupid of me, anyway glad we both agree he won't be going to liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  22. No thanks. He can have his car burned in London from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I can't see the problem with my previous posts, especially as I have had a response from Liverpool4life of a similar nature. Anyway I'm guessing you would love to see Benteke at Liverpool?

    ReplyDelete
  24. agreed adam morgan does look a little lightweight at times but again so is coutinho and all these comparisons are coming off the back of a few pre season games and europa matches ....... benteke wasnt an instant hit he took a few games and then found his rythm maybe we should do the same with morgan too ? after all going by his reserve and U21 record he is quite the finisher

    ReplyDelete
  25. My question disappeared?? I think it was a perfectly reasonable question from someone who isn't obviously up to date with our transfer targets. Who said Benteke is a target?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Only if he costs under 15mn though I would like more agile player like Gamiero who I think will fit in Rodgers style of football.

    ReplyDelete
  27. im quite sure next year will be a different story u chumps spent majority of the season with your key players injured ..... just make pardrew stop his french revolution and look at a few other nations too :P

    ReplyDelete
  28. This site, on a daily basis :D

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi bri, jaimie keeps deleting your question

    ReplyDelete
  30. MORGAN looks like he can handle himself from what I've seen of him.Technically I don't think he cuts the mustard.
He can finish no question about it but so can many players at lower level and when they move up they find it hard.MORGAN has talent but he's not a PL player.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You deleted my question because?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Can't see Liverpool going for him, defenders are priorities.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Who linked him with Liverpool?

    ReplyDelete
  34. He could play in goal for you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  35. we said the same for ince and now we are getting bullied by blackpool :P maybe we should loan him to them and hope they uncover his potential id gladly pay them 1m if they do :P

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hopefully in a few years Liverpool will be able to buy all the best players around. I'm getting sick of the other premier league teams having their pick. I can definitely see Mourinho coming back to Chelsea and signing Benteke as a Drogba like player.

    ReplyDelete
  37. we have suarez ..... as of now

    ReplyDelete
  38. We tried to give TOM INCE a new contract but at the time he felt young players weren't getting chances.I'd go with what you said though loan both MORGAN and YESIL out for the season.

    ReplyDelete
  39. only if Abramovich is not hell bent on falcao or cavani

    ReplyDelete
  40. Morgan and Yesil will never be good enough to push Liverpool into a CL place.

    ReplyDelete
  41. can never say unless we try :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. say Brian and Jaimie k what u think of going for shawcross ? no pulis means we can try to get him !

    ReplyDelete
  43. them teeth handy for opening cans :P and deflecting incoming long balls into the net which he so nicely did all season :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. falcao is set for monaco and cavani for man city

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jaimie messed up that thread!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lets all have a discussion that's so one sided because jaimie doesn't like opinions he doesn't agree with so deletes them, shit site

    ReplyDelete
  47. Difference is Liverpool have a better manager, way of playing football (that lets technical players flourish), more money, and Coutinho, Suarez, and Sturridge. Newcastle overachieved somewhat like Westbrom who will most likely struggle next year too.

    ReplyDelete
  48. then maybe :P i hope they buy plenty of strikers then we can try and steal piazon from them :P

    ReplyDelete
  49. errr why are you here then ? go to a site you like pronto

    ReplyDelete
  50. wenger doesnt even want to spend 30m for jovectic doubt 25m for benteke

    ReplyDelete
  51. 25m? No, thanks. What he had to say about his club doesn't portray him as a man with a good attitude. If your club doesn't want to sell you because they think the offer isn't good enough, then you play on, simple. He's threatening his club. No, I don't think we would need someone like that at our club.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Then they might sell Lukaku to us and we might pull off another bargain like Sturridge.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 25M is a lot to pay for a #3 striker...even if we don't have Suarez for 6 games. That being said, I'd love to have him. He'd be the beast AC was supposed to be but was never fast enough to be.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't think Lukaku is better than Benteke by a long shot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yeah, we have a few Englishmen for sale :-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jaimie keep deleting

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jaimie keep deleting boy

    ReplyDelete
  58. Keeeeep deleting u shitter

    ReplyDelete
  59. few ????? i can only think of one :P and he doesnt want to move by the looks of things :P

    ReplyDelete
  60. Incredible, jaimie K deletes all constructive posts that show him up for what a braindead bafoon he really is!! what is the point in having a one sided discussion. sorry jaimie, stop dreaming of benteke, your shit have no chance of getting him, try bent!!! gimp x

    ReplyDelete
  61. Benteke will not join you scum in a million years. If he leaves Villa, it won't be for you boys. Too good for Liverpool......I'm sure everyone will agree!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Benteke will leave Villa Park yes, either this summer or more likely next, after the 2014 World Cup. His destination wont be Anfield though chaps, be realistic. A) You wouldn't be able to afford him, B) You wont be able to offer him Champions :League football.
He kept us up, but we'll move on. We always do. No one man is bigger than the club.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Remind me how much did you pay for Downing? So how is our hopes of getting more than 25million slim. You paid 35million for Carroll for crying out loud.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Micheál Staunton10:13 pm, May 24, 2013

As a mature, responsible Villa fan I would suggest you read the entire transcript of the interview, he never says he wanted to leave Villa, simply that he wouldn't be forced to sign a new contract, or failing that, just look at his tweets, it's all paper talk, and with all due respect, if we do sell him, I think it'll be to a more competitive club than Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Why would Benteke waste his career being in relegation fights every year. He should leave to a top club Liverpool or not.

    ReplyDelete
  66. If he stays til next summer Liverpool will give him champions league football ;) But he'd only be backup to Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It was just a few months ago Villains were saying he won't leave, now Benteke's got that itchy feeling LOL.
I think he's worth bidding for to add another dimension to our strike force!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks.

    But NO THANKS!

    ReplyDelete
  69. liverpool4life56511:16 pm, May 24, 2013

"Inflated price" because we had 50 mil from Chelsea for Torres, beneteke is worth 20-25 mil. Not anymore your deluded if you think he worth more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  70. liverpool4life56511:17 pm, May 24, 2013

We will be up there next season, also we do have the funds if we really wanted him. But atm he isn't a priority on our transfer plans. CBS are a must for us.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I like Newcastle as a club, I feel pardew is the right man for the job, just had a blip this year. Think you will get it right next year.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I hope we dont try and sign him purely because i dont want to deal with Villa.
They always seem to squeeze a few extra Mil out of the players they sell, must know some Jedi mind tricks over there.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Your logic is flawed and simplistic.DARREN BENT cost you 24m does that mean every striker you buy should be bought for a similar price?
BENTEKE has a market value and it has nothing to do with how much we paid NEWCASTLE for AC!

    ReplyDelete
  74. excatly my thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  75. we are tryin to sell one donkey in coates why saddle oursleves with another with shawcross no thanks

  77. Jaimie k, another shite article, keep dreaming boys!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Always one sided opinions on this site because jaimie k deletes all posts that show him up for what a idiot he is. When does Benteke actually say ,'I want out'. Thats right, he doesn't.... Dream on jaimie, he's not going to sign for third rate Liverpool mate, delete away!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Liverpool are a third rate team

    ReplyDelete
  80. 1.start of season no suarez
GK-P.Reina : have to admit hes been quality in 2013
RB-M.Kelly: 6ft3 beast. love martin, great dimension to squad
    CB-D.Agger: incredibly reliable. perfect example
CB- T.Ilori. 20 yrs. 6ft3 fastest CB in world. £3.5m
LB-G.Johnson : glen annoys me at times, but looks good at LB
    CM-S.Gerrard: massive to our progress
    CM-K.Honda: world class and a cut-price £3m. bargain
    RW-T.Ince: 18 goals/15 assists at 21. £8m with 35% off. £6m
AM-H.Mkhitaryan: 30 goal midfielder. striker option also. £13m
LW-Coutino: world star in the making. focus of next season
ST-D.Sturridge: lead the line till suarez returns

    subs: gk-jones, cb-wisdom, cb-toure FREE, lb-enrique,
    dm-lucas, cm-diame £3.5m, lw-ibe

2.when suarez returns/strong line-up vs teams like stoke
    GK-Reina
    RB-Kelly
    CB-Agger
    CB-Toure
    LB-Johnson
CM-M.Diame: power maestro. will act like Y.Toure
    CM-Gerrard
    AM-Mkhitaryan
    RF-Suarez
    LF-Coutinho
    ST-Sturridge

    subs: gk-jones, cb-wisdom, cb-ilori, lb-enrique, dm-lucas
    rw-ince, am/st-honda

transfers out. skrtel £10m, carroll £15m, coates £6m, allen £7m, Spearing £1m, Borini £6m. in total that is £45M

transfers in. Henrikh Mkhitaryan £13m as our 1st marquee signing. Keisuke Honda £3m as our 2nd marquee signing. then we'll have to take risks like the one with coutinho and hope it pays off with potential. Tom Ince £6m is the next robben, has all the attributes. Tiago Ilori £3.5M. and Mohamed Diame £3.5m, this guy is going to boss our midfield next season and really inspire us to push on. this is a now a competitive squad that with regular rotations should push for at least trophys and top 4. expect alot of goals as well especially with mkhitirayan, suarez, sturridge, ince, coutinho and honda all on top form

    ReplyDelete
  81. Liverpool are average at best.... 1-3

    ReplyDelete
  82. He's still not going to sign for your lot, where has he been linked, other that this site lol

    ReplyDelete
  83. Carroll, Downing, Shelvey = a few

    ReplyDelete
  84. What a stupid comment, Liverpool are no better than villa, but hey jaimie will only keep stupid responses like yours. He's a cock, dreaming Benteke will join the bin dippers, dream on cunt

    ReplyDelete
  85. Journeyman. Disloyal at Genk and Standard and now Villa. If we would sign him and next year Chelsea would want him and he could make 20 quid a week more he'd want to leave again. Horrible attitude this guy. You can say about Suarez whatever you want but the guy is loyal to the clubs he plays for.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Lol, bid, he's not interested in playing for a mid table team

    ReplyDelete
  87. rugbyvillan.with all due respect LFC fans,i dont think you can afford him.like us you have money in the pot but not to splash silly money on one player.i remember the dempsey bids. the pool was haggling over 500k-1m that's when i knew your purse strings were being tightened just like ours. benteke will stay at villa 1 more year.then world cup window(look at me).then off abroad.

    ReplyDelete

  89. liverpool4life56511:12 am, May 25, 2013

Our purse strings were tighten? No we didn't wanna be taken for a mug in the market, he had a year left on his contract an he was 29,but January we spent 20 million on coutinho and Sturridge so it's all good

    ReplyDelete
  90. I live in Brum. What I hear, he's told Villa he's staying unless a CL club comes in for him, and then regardless of contract, he's outski.
Not the attitude of the players I want at LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hasn't he indicated he wants to go to Arsenal? His best fit is probably Spurs. Would love to see either this guy or Lukaku on our books, but maybe Weimann makes more sense, seeing as Sturridge is our first choice up front and Suarez is next. When Suarez goes centre, we ought to have someone who's happy to flank him on the right. Between Weimann and Benteke, Weimann is the one who gives defenders a bigger headache.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I honestly don't see WBA struggling next year though. Clarke knows his priorities and is an awesome manager. Rodgers, Clarke and AVB have something special about them. Mourinho spotted them well.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Shawcross is a left footer like Agger, but he looks a better defender than Wilson. Left footed centrebacks don't come by that easily.

    ReplyDelete
  94. More chance of a scouser earning an honest living than benteke signing for LFC, maybe if you could likely threaten a champions league spot he might consider it, more likely to join Southampton than your shower of shite

    ReplyDelete
  95. No doubt he is a good player, but the massive lack of respect and loyalty shown to the club that has helped him gain his name is not something I want in a player. Granted most players will play for cash and medals these days, but to be so openly disrespectful to his current club tells me he would leave us in a second if he got a better offer as he has zero loyaltly. That aint something I want in a Liverpool Shirt.

He is clearly a good player, and will move to a better club, but how could any fan like him? feel like he loves there club? you just couldn`t. It would like like a empty soul playing for us. Just waiting to get a better offer, using us as another stepping stone.

When people talk about ambition, and how players should want to play in the CL etc. I think leaving your current club and signing for one already in it is weak. Wheres the pride in that? You haven`t acheived anything, you just went to a winning club which was already winning. Surely the real ambition is trying to make your current club great. Thats real ambition and real achievement and something which is rarely seen these days.

I mean can Owen really look at his winners medal for Utd and hand on heart feel he won that? Feel he made that happen?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Mike Aitcheson2:21 pm, May 25, 2013

Benteke is flavour of the month (season?) and a very good player, but, as an ex striker myself I noticed something when watching him play; lack of game intelligence. He seemed to run into obvious offside positions having taken no account of how the play was developing, and seemed to spoil a lot of promising positions that way.
Maybe the Villa fans on here can enlighten me?
By the way, £25m? not post Andy Carroll you won't. Not a hope.

    ReplyDelete
  97. What do you make of Christian Eriksen?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Christian Eriksen is a key signing for Liverpool this window (if they pull it off). Incredibly intelligent footballer. Seeing him with Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge would be awsome. Dont think it'll happen though - Dortmund will snatch him.

    ReplyDelete
  99. liverpool4life5653:18 pm, May 25, 2013

We are not really mid table :) 20 teams mid tabled team is 10th. We are 7th next season we will finish highernext season.we've got a exciting young team so we will be fine also finance,

    ReplyDelete
  100. if Falcao to Monaco happens it means that cl football is not our only problem when we try to land a world class player. Or they have bigger chances of getting that spot next year then we would have with him. we should strenghten our side within our means- sell Reina, Skrtel, Andy and few more, buy goalie, cb and dm, and then risk all the way with someone like Falcao which would get us yo cl 99 percent. it is down to persuading owners and than player that we can do it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. well stoke have an iron defence so it makes sense

    ReplyDelete
  102. ECL is never a reason for a good player to join the club. Its ultimately down to money. Liverpool is big enough name to attract players even without ECL.

    ReplyDelete
  103. That's good you can predict the future, you are not in the top tier in the prem though, therefore mid table :D

    ReplyDelete
  104. dont think rodgers wants him now ......after all if he did he would have made a move by now keeping the deadline he made in mind

    ReplyDelete
  105. My point exactly, we just make excuses for signing mediocre players... And this year would be perfect for spending big- with only one competition and the cup that should not be to much of a bother we could easily get where we belong, and even fight for the title.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I hope you're wrong. Eriksen is one of the hottest prospects on the market - Raw, natural (unteachable) talent. To not want him is insane. To loose out to Dortmund is another thing. Wherever he goes he will become huge. Just hope we can snap him up.

    ReplyDelete
  107. He ain't coming to your mid table side

    ReplyDelete
  108. liverpool4life5656:25 pm, May 25, 2013

    ReplyDelete
  109. liverpool4life5656:26 pm, May 25, 2013

Top tier?? We are 7th that's in the top half oh but you wouldn't know because your always in the bottom half HA! Go run along

    ReplyDelete
  110. no. although I do rate benteke very highly, daniel sturridge is as good, and when he signed for lfc wouldn't come to sit on the bench ( heard him say this in interviews). so unless benteke was replacing suarez for a reason suarez wanted out all of a sudden I wouldn't spend 25m on another forward, we need to replace reina skirtel and cargher and spend about 45m on 3 purchases before wages to compete for the top 4.

    ReplyDelete
  111. yep...borini will come good!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Hmm, obviously you are a child, grow up and deal with the truth, Liverpool are no longer a champions league team, you are average. Did a bottom team beat you 3-1? Lol

    ReplyDelete
  113. liverpool4life5658:17 pm, May 25, 2013

Not really. And did I say we was a CL team? I said logically we are not a mid table team, can't you read. And we beat you point?:-) and someone who uses "lol" then calls someone a child. Hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Who said I'm a villa fan? I'm glad you agree Liverpool are a mid table team.

    ReplyDelete

I don't care who you support. And I didn't say that either. Reading is a really difficult for you isn't it?:-)

  116. You said, we beat you, meaning Liverpool beat villa, not as clever as you thought are you, bin dipper

    ReplyDelete
  117. liverpool4life5658:30 pm, May 25, 2013

did I ask "who do you support" no. If I did then you can say that. Also name calling? Haha grow a pair. :-)

  118. Who's always in the bottom half?

    ReplyDelete

Why are you on a Liverpool article & villa article if you support neither team, very weird!

I agree on them players Carroll doesn't fit well into our system, shelvey can't hit a barn door, and is very frustrating. Downing is a good squad player but best if he sold.

  138. i hope im wrong too but we all saw that when rodgers really wants someone he gets them fast eg sturridge and coutinho but when looking at erikssen you cant feel that same seriousness

  139. I think 19 goals in his first season for a struggling team says it all, as an ex defender myself I noticed something when watching him, id hate to play against that beast! I guess £25 mill is the asking price, if Liverpool won't pay it I'm sure one of the big boys will
