Cannibal Comrades? Mike Tyson explains his new-found love for 'interesting' Suarez.

Mike Tyson experienced his fair share of controversy during an illustrious career in the ring, and like Liverpool's Luis Suarez, the boxing legend once tried to feast on another man's flesh. In the aftermath of the attempted cannibalisation of Branislav Ivanovic's arm, Tyson (amusingly) followed Suarez on Twitter, and he's now explained why he felt compelled to take that action.

Speaking to a North Carolina Radio station last night, Tyson - who in 1997 chewed off a piece of Evander's Holyfield's ear - said:

"I just sort of got on the the Twitter thing and I said hey, um, this is an interesting guy, let me follow him, check him out, see what his journey’s all about.

"You know, he bit somebody, you know s*** happens, you know what I mean? I’m sure he made amends with his guy, I made amends with Evander, and we go on with our lives".

Suarez tried to make amends with Ivanovic, but according to The Guardian:

"Branislav Ivanovic has not accepted the apology from Luis Suárez over the biting incident. It is understood that Ivanovic appreciated the call, but stopped short of accepting the apology"

Compared to Tyson's ear-spitting antics, Suarez's love bite on Ivanovic is a piffling incident, but at least Tyson had the rudimentary intelligence to only try it once!

Perhaps Tyson can offer Suarez counselling - after all, it takes one to know one, and 'Iron Mike' is in a unique position to understand the Uruguayan's plight.

  4. Tyson bit Holyfield a couple times. So, no he wasn't intelligent enough to only do it once. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

  9. well it was a horrible foul... or offense or whatever... not sure what luis was thinking. but this saga is starting to get bit, sad, tiring, satyr?

im quite happy with the way the incident was handled by LFC. even if jamie isnt. it is true that footballers earn too much, but in which universe 200.000+ euros isnt a hefty fine? im sure Hillsborough diasters victims families apreciate that money if it is where the money ends up.

now on top of it luis is gonna be slapped with aprox 10 game ban. + the media storm. im sure the uruguayn has more than paid for a bite.

now its up to him to save what little face he has left, i for one am hoping luis still plays for LFC next season. for he is one hell of a footballer. and i wish that he manages next season without a single incident.

LFC has nothing to be ashamed for with handling the situation.... i apreciate the fine donated to charity lot more than some moral ban that runs simultaneous during FA ban.

  13. So now it become Football Biting League??? As Tyson said he did it once in his lifetime. Suarez already 2 biting incident and god now how many more coming. Other incident appear year in year out. He should start wear mouth protection for others player safety if he continue to play. Poyet is no help only encourage players to do stupid things (esp not related to football). How about another team player kungfu kick your player from the back what will you say then???
