Last week, on-loan Reds defender Danny Wilson admitted that he found life at Liverpool 'demoralising', and conceded that his career at Anfield 'wasn't really getting anywhere'. Things have picked up for the defender at Hearts, and he's now made a public plea to the club to make his loan move permanent. Will they want him, though?
Speaking to the Daily Record last week, Wilson - who cost Liverpool £2m in 2010 - revealed that he feels 'a lot happier' at Hearts because he can 'train all week and know there is an opportunity to play at the end of it'. He added:
“I wasn’t doing that at Liverpool. I was training all week, training hard, but I wasn’t really getting anywhere. Is it demoralising? Yes. You don’t enjoy it but you need to use it and make sure it doesn’t happen to you again.”
In an interview with the Sunday Mail over the weekend, Wilson spoke of how much he's enjoying himself at Hearts, and made it clear he'd like to stay:
"The most important thing is that I'm back playing. I wouldn't be against staying here at all. I've got no issues with continuing my career in the SPL.
"I'm not going to turn my nose up at it. This is a good level, a good league and it tests me every time I play. We haven't spoken about next season. I probably won't know my future until the end of the campaign.
"The club are still having a bit of a rough time just now so I wouldn't like to put pressure on them by asking what's going on."
Clearly, Wilson wants to leave Anfield permanently, but given Hearts' atrocious form since he arrived, will they want him long-term? Wilson has made 13 starts for the Scottish club since January:
* 9 defeats (including 7 in the last 9)
* A recent run of 5 defeats in a row
* 25 goals conceded (ave 1.9 goals per game)
Hardly inspiring stats for a defender. Hearts obviously brought him in because they needed to tighten up the defence, and it seems the opposite has happened.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting Wilson is mainly to blame, but when assessing whether to take him on permanently, these stats will definitely be considered.
I hope the loan works out and Wilson gets a permanent move. He seems like a level-headed guy, and he could do with some good luck after his Anfield experience.

DS was not the first choice? I think he joined LFC as soon as the January window opened. Also, he was about to join on loan in summer itself.
ReplyDeleteDS deal was done before the window even opened, it could of been we was trying to sign two strikers. We're supposed to sign 5 players in the summer, another striker is needed.
ReplyDeleteSturridge was a done deal before window opened in January, don't think it's a matter of first choice or other. It would seem we simply tried to sign another striker.
ReplyDeleteIt was Everton who made the bid. Not Liverpool .:http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20130326/sevilla/negredo-fichaje-everton-sevilla_54370694404.html
ReplyDeleteIt was Everton who made the bid. Not Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteHave you heard about Chelsea offering us back Torres? Because they owe us 15 million still from that deal....
ReplyDeleteLiverpool needs a defensive coach and fast. another striker will be needed if we keep ourselves in all competitions but if we don't get the defensive system sorted where we can stop a counter attack or any type of physical forward, then we will not need a third striker as we will not be playing that many games!!!! I say third striker, as i know Borini is at the club but he is not a striker, he is a waterboy!!
ReplyDeleteHey Jaimie on a completely different note, is it true Chelsea still owe Liverpool 15million from the Torres sale? Am reading a lot of different article's on how Chelsea would rather give us Torres back instead of paying the extra money they owe us. What do you all think? Would you have him back?
ReplyDeleteNo that's nonsense. The story about Torres returning to LFC is from Caught Offside, which just makes stuff up out of thin air.
ReplyDeleteLFC's accounts for 2011-12 clearly show that Liverpool received the entire Torres fee during that financial year.
Thank's. I didn't read it on Caught Offside. But at least i know were it originated from.
ReplyDeleteits tough on danny,,,,i cant recall him playing that bad when called upon at anfield at fullback or cb
ReplyDeleteHe didn't cut the mustard,Good luck with his future career wherever he goes
ReplyDeleteDanny surely knows his time is up here. Let the lad go make a name for himself elsewhere. Not every player that comes through the academy will be an automatic choice to come in.
ReplyDeletethis is what happens when we buy potential 2million pound transfer fee i few years wages the cost of his development and probabley be sold for less than half of what we paid for him
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but Caught Offside got quite a couple of transfers right over the years and they weren't always last to report them either. I think that they have people checking local media for them and report stories in. For example, when Liverpool is linked to a Dutch or Belgian player, I usually read or hear about it one or two days before the English media pick up on the story. So if you're the first English language site that reports it, it looks like you have a scoop because that's the moment when things actually become known to a wider public. So to say they make stuff up is not doing them justice imo but I doubt they have any sources inside Anfield either :-)
ReplyDeleteto say thats nonsense is an overstatement 99.99% of the transfer targets your site links us to never materalise its called speculation imo if you could only post articles with hard facts to back them up you would struggle to keep the posters happy,as fans we all love to dream what mite be
ReplyDeleteis anything wrong with my pc? just used your lfc-transfer-news-sevilla-rejected-LFC-alvaro-negredo-offer-13m link on facebook but i always get to this page about wilson :>
ReplyDeleteFrom an accounting point of view, just because its in the accounts doesn't mean it's in the bank ;p YET.
ReplyDeleteI read "LFC star" then "Danny Wilson" - just a slight exaggeration there then...
ReplyDeletethats nonsence Jc lol
ReplyDeleteits my middle name ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe older you are the more cynical you become. Being a Liverpool its tough being positive when it comes to some of the names we are linked with. Especially when a few years back it wouldnt have been hard bringing in top drawer internationals. I ignore the most positive ones until they sign. Was really chuffed we got Coutinho. I love players like him and be honest i didnt think hed leave Inter.
ReplyDeleteThey post so much rubbish ive stopped visiting their site. It puts the more level headed fans off. Its like buying a tabloid newspaper. You might aswell pay someone 40p to call you an idiot for half hour.
ReplyDeletecynical you must have got me mixed up with someone else lol agree ,coutinho looks good lets just hope he can keep it up ;-)
