'It would be special' - €8.5 star admits he's interested in LFC transfer. Sign him...?

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Swansea City goalkeeper several times since Brendan Rodgers arrived at the club, and in an interview last night, the Dutch stopper fanned the flames of transfer speculation by admitting that he's excited by the prospect of a summer move to Anfield.

Speaking to Voetbal International, €8.5m-rated Vorm - who this week ruled out a move to Barcelona - said:

"A reunion with [Brendan] Rodgers would be special. The collaboration was very good last season, but for now Pepe Reina is number one.

"My name is often mentioned in clubs, but I would only leave Swansea for one of the top clubs in England or abroad"

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson is a fan fo Vorm, and in a recent column for the Liverpool Daily Post he named the Dutch international as his preferred replacement for Pepe Reina. He said:

"Pepe Reina could leave in the summer. He has been brilliant for Liverpool but maybe it is time for him to move on. Michel Vorm is one that could fit the bill but Rodgers will have to be careful going back and signing lots of Swansea players"

Vorm - nicknamed the 'penalty killer' - was linked with a move to Anfield last summer, but nothing came of the club's alleged interest.

Vorm certainly has a lot or respect for Liverpool. After Swansea's 5-0 drubbing by the Reds, he described playing at Anfield as a 'privilege'; hailed the club's 'amazing supporters', but described the defeat as the 'worst' game of his career. He told ThisIsSouthWales:

"If you play like this then you don't deserve to play at Anfield. Our mentality was so poor, and we could have lost 10-0. I always want to win and I need to see more aggression and a better mentality."

In March, Vorm fired another warning to his Swansea team-mates after the club's 2-1 defeat to West Brom. He told reporters:

"Most of the other teams in the Premier League are physically stronger than us. The back four is not a problem, but the whole team need to do it. We have to add a physical element. You could see that we were better football-wise than the opposition, but we still lost.”

Vorm sounds like just the kind of strong character needed at Anfield, and considering the 29-year old only cost Swansea £1.5m, he'd probably be considerably cheaper than the likes of Asmir Begovic.

Worth a bid?

  3. Did you lads know that your nickname in Thailand is the Red Swans (hohng deng)? The way things are going that will be just fine here too. I mustn't be too rude because the Hiilsborough anniversary and the posters on show about the witch made me mellow a bit towards the 'Pool. But that f*****g Leprechaun needs to refrain from unsettling our players.

  4. If we were picking from Swansea I would rather we go for Williams, he is probably the best defender we can attract and he has the physical element to his game. Plus we know he can work in the system.

  5. You do realise that a very large part of Liverpools support comes from Ireland and yet you come on a Liverpool site and refer to our Manager as the f*****g Leprechaun. Are you stupid or just a kid who doesn't get it?
Nice to see some Swansea fans showing respect to the manager who got them into the PL and kept them there. Pity about fans like you.

  6. Why do we look no further than Swansea every time a position needs filling - not that one does. I've seen Vorm have off days too - far worse than Pepe. I'm convinced Rodgers is hell bent on turning us into Swansea.

He isn't as good as Reina and only a year younger. But as we have seen, any Swansea player is fair game for Rodgers. Next it will be the Babb/Ruddock combo known as Ashley Williams - a defender with a weight problem and no pace.

Worrying times and quite staggering how many people put so much trust in Rodgers.

  7. Vorm is quality. I think Reina is working his way back into form and if he can find that consistency than we dont need to replace him but Vorm would be a quality option. Even having both would push both Reina and Vorm to improve.

  8. It was a joke, although I suppose you are going to reproach me for poor taste. We are Welsh but your fans feel no qualms about mentioning our alleged liking for sheep. Actually you will find the 'L' word in widespread currency on our Planet Swans website. Brendan did not endear himself to Jacks when he first promised not to come in for any of our players for 12 months and then went back on his word, If he could take 6 points off us or asset strip our team and send it down he would do so., we are under no illusions on that score. As for who is the kid well one never knows does one.. On the substance what do you think of being a Red Swan?

  10. A pretty poor one then that lacks any imagination. Us Irish are pretty good at laughing at ourselves so if you made a comment that was witty, I wouldn't have an issue at all but the whole Leprechaun thing could come from any 12 year old. I have never seen any comments on here slagging off the Welsh and I visit the site quite often.
If you remenber correctly, your new Manager invited offers when he said that all players have their price and if your board were so upset about us coming in for Allen, then why did they not reject the 15 million offer? Asset stripping your club is laughable. You got over the odds for Allen so I don't see what you are upset about. I think you will also find that most Managers normally sign one or two players from their previous clubs as they already know what they are getting. I imagine you are probably one of these people who thinks it is a sign of poor management (knowledge of the market) by signing players from your previous club but probably worship managers like Mourinho because he would never do something like that.

  11. Rogers is welcome to Williams and vorm tremmel has done a much better job when he played look at the win loss ratio with either keeper and you will see and chico has outdone Williams this year with Taylor coming back maybe Ben can revert to his natural position at centre back as for rogers do u really care what he's doing I know I don't

  15. Moron, what you on about,we did not reject the 15 million for Allen, because we all know including you he is not worth that.Just tell your manager to keep his grubby hands of our players, you are suppost to be a top side with top players what a joke that is,if you were that good you would not always be after players from a small team like us,you can see how people hate you lot, living in the past and may it continue for a long time haaaaaaaa.

  16. Should have a good spine to the team next year if we get these Swansea players in, just imagine; Vorm Williams Allen and Borini, what a spine to the team, that is considerably better than Reina Carra, Alonso and Torres, I am joking and please no one take that seriously but seriously imagine!!!!

  19. For those of you that dont already know,,
Brendan Rogers no longer selects players for transfer. There is a committee now in place, with our scouts, Ian Ayre and Rogers selecting our targets.
Although Rogers had said the Manager should be the only one to pick transfer targets. (thats why he did'nt want a Director of football). But Ian Ayre has announced there is a Committee in place now to oversee all transfers.

  20. buy vorn when hes cheap coming from a dutch club, not once he's established and expensive. this is unimaginative scouting.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well u all believe Liverpool are about to raid Swansea again only because the media needed to drum up a bit more crap.
Liverpool have appointed a committee to oversee all transfers this season so IF they were to make a play for Swansea players it will not only be Rodgers say so..

  22. vorm is a shot stopper poor on crosses .does not command his box and to small chealsea want 17 mill for the cat on loan at athletico madrid who is 6ft 5in and looks the real deal and is young. and as for williams to slow .lescott 4 million would be a better option

  23. It is so hard but LFC must release out deadwood or passenger into the team......A.Carroll, F.Borini and S.Downing is going rusty talent and sink in football carrier soon.Football is about result and result is about how many goal did you score every season. Please tell us, how goal now that this trio already score in 2 season. Not very worth with the fee you paying for them now. Also LFC must review on Lucas Leiva and Jordan Henderson too. They are just ordinary players and can hit to maximum level.LFC must improve at CENTRE DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD before fixing centre back areas.Fortress must be solid and tough, if the door of fortress too easy leaking the ball ( can penetrate), we cannot give biggest hope to defenders players. They will tired cover up others players weakness and cannot focus on own duty.LFC must looking to sign in versatile players and having advantage can keep scoring the goal.In era R.Benitez, every players and position can able score the goal.

  24. Wow, how long did it take you to think of that one? Changing one letter to make Moron is absolute genius. Have never seen or heard that before. I was saying in the previous email that I never saw any comments on here were people were slagging off the Welsh but I think your education system needs to be seriously reviewed judging by the infantile commenst of both yourself and Dai. In the initial post Dai was complaining about asset stripping your club but if we are paying over the odds for your assets, what are you complaining about? It is good business for your club. Can you actually comprehend that? Your line about chasing players from smaller clubs also shows your ignorance or lack of education because we all know that every single top player start their careers at top clubs, right?

  25. You have completely missed the point Jason. I never said Rodgers can do no wrong cause he is Irish. The point is about using insulting remarks towards a percentage of the clubs fan base when you could easily select another word to air your grievances. Imagine a scenario were Rodgers is English and I am not happy with him, I then come on here and state that I want that f*****g Brit out, would you be happy about that because I think a lof of people would find it pretty unnecessary. That is the point I am making.

  26. no i would agree with you as i want him out as well lol;-)
