Liverpool face Premier League bottom-club Reading today, which - on paper - should mean a certain win for the Reds, but after several poor results against the so-called lesser teams this season, nothing is a foregone conclusion when it comes to this Liverpool side.
Poor defeats against relegation strugglers Southampton, Stoke City and Aston Villa have marred the club's season, so if the players go into today's game with any complacency whatsoever, the Reds could be on the end of yet another embarrassing result.
In terms of team news: Fabio Borini, Joe Allen and Martin Kelly are all long-term absentees for Liverpool, and Raheem Sterling will also miss out with an ongoing thigh strain.
Stewart Downing started last weekend's game with West Ham despite struggling with an illness, but Brendan Rodgers' irresponsible decision to play him backfired midway through the first half, which allowed Daniel Sturridge to come on and play most of the game.
Downing may have fought off that illness now, but in my view, Rodgers should start the team that finished the West Ham game:
------------------- Reina
Johnson -------- Carra -- Agger ---------- Enrique
------------------- Lucas
------ Henderson ----------- Gerrard
Suarez ------------------------------- Coutinho
----------------- Sturridge
* Putting Sturridge on the bench for the third league game in a row would be poor man-management IMO, and would almost certainly demotivate the striker in some way.
* Either Rodgers trusts the guy or he doesn't. You don't pay £12m for a striker and then constantly leave him on the bench, and if Rodgers doesn't trust Sturridge, then why sign him in the first place?
* Luis Suarez hasn't scored for three games now, and Sturridge is supposed to be the player who takes the pressure off the Uruguayan. How can he do that from the bench?
* Additionally, Sturridge also hasn't scored for three games and Reading is (theoretically) the ideal opportunity for both Sturridge and Suarez to get back on the scoresheet - and build confidence - before next week's tough game against Chelsea.
In his column for the Liverpool Echo today, Liverpool legend Tommy Smith also called for Sturridge to start today's game:
"We need the Daniel Sturridge of a couple of months ago at Reading, and today at Reading could give him the perfect chance to start again.
"Luis Suarez needs help with the load up front, and Reading away might not look like a big game, But for Daniel Sturridge today could be a very big game"
Reds hero Jan Molby is certain that the Reds will beat Reading today. He told the Liverpool Echo:
"Reading have lost seven straight league games and that’s no surprise to me as defensively they’re weak. You know you’ll get plenty of chances and Liverpool will have far too much firepower for them"
Anything but a win for the Reds today is surely unacceptable? Rodgers claims that progress is being made this season, and league form since the turn of the year definitely supports that. However, if Liverpool fail to beat a team that's lost seven games in a row, it's arguably a sign that the progress is not as significant as Rodgers would have everyone believe.

Reckon ya spot on.
ReplyDeleteIt would be just typical we lose every struggling team seams to end there drought against us
ReplyDeleteHey Jaimie, minor problem with my disqus account. The 'My Disqus' tab indicates that I have 9 notifications in that red bubble, but when I click on it, they're notifications that I've already viewed, and I can't seem to get rid of them. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteIf we drop points there today this club have no future, theres no worse team than reading atm and suarez must be careful his next yellow means he will miss the next two games because will be his 10th of the season, so he must calm and think about chelsea next week
ReplyDeleteHi Nick - it's one of the many Disqus glitches. I get the same thing. Nothing I can do to fix it, unfortunately :-(
ReplyDeleteIf we lose this one, than it just shows the mentality of some players who have taken their places in the team for granted. I would rather BR give Suso and the like a run out. Nothing to lose. It is not like we are going anywhere fast.
ReplyDeletethis is why i actually liked the old system better. it was simpler and had a nice dashboard
ReplyDelete"You don't pay 12m for a striker and constantly leave him on the bench, and if Rodgers doesn't trust Sturridge then why sign him in the first place" sorry but why it matter if he on the bench? He another option.... It's about how Rodgers wants to set him, with Suarez, coutinho, downing hendo, it gives us a solid unit to press the team, win the ball back and attack, trying to put Sturridge in means dropping either one of them I mentioned which might back fire....
ReplyDeleteSlipping up against lesser teams is a massive issue for LFC. Ultimately it cost us a league title under Benitez. I don't know whether it's just complacency by the manager or players, because it's been a common recurrence for years and years.
ReplyDeleteMancini said teams tend to bend over for United, which is interesting. They just expect to lose. Do teams approach Liverpool and say "yeah we can get something"...?
I know no ifs and buts...but we could be in such a better position right now. Slip ups have always cost us so much. I'd rather lose against bigger teams and be more consistent overall.
Is it a possibility to put in Wisdom on right back and do a trial with Johnson midfield?
ReplyDeleteBeing looking at the average points total that liverpool have gained since the premier league became a 38 season. In total it is 67 points. When we finished 2nd it was 69 points. The following 3 seasons it has been 57 points. This season we could still finish with 67 points which would be very impressive considering this is a transitional year. Another target for Rodgers is to beat Rafa's final points total which was 63 points which would be another good sign of progress. But if we get less than 60 points then I would be concerned about the impact Rodgers has had at the club. We have dropped of the pace a lot over the three years and it looks like it could take another two years to think about competing for a top four place. But If we have a good summer transfer window then who knows.
ReplyDeleteI dont necessarily think Rodgers doesn't trust Sturridge I think Rodgers worries that we get over flooded in midfield. When suarez and Sturridge play 'together' Suarez is essentially SUPPOSED to be playing the no.10 role.
ReplyDeleteRodgers said,
"I spoke with Luis at length on it a number of times. This has been in
the plan for a few months. When he played at Ajax he played in behind as
a No10, in between the lines, and he played as a reverse winger from
the left side so he wasn't quite out wide – he was tucked in round the
corner. Wherever he plays he will make the same movements and he will
find the space because he is a world class player."
The problem we have when Suarez plays no.10 is he doesn't drop in and make that triangle with Lucas and SG when we haven't got the ball, so essentially we are playing 4-2-4 with our full backs pushing on which is crazy. At the moment neither Suarez or Sturridge are tactically disciplined enough to offer creativity AND solidity so it is a case of last one in first one out which is fair considering the amount of goals Suarez has.
They don't pass to each other much either which is infuriating for both of them and us fans. But that's another story...........................
mancini is definitely true regarding man utd. all the lower teams are guilty of trying not to lose, rather than trying to beat them. when you try not to lose, you will lose, or at best, scrape a 'courageous' and 'fantastic' draw like west ham did against us. man utd don't actually have the greatest team. compared to 08/09, they're a few levels below.
ReplyDeletetheir consistency against the lesser teams could very well be explained by their fear of united. southampton were an exception earlier in the season, and were unlucky to fall victim to one of man utd's very annoying but trade mark last minute steals. player for player, when comparing man utd to the other top teams, they come third or fourth.
we'll get embarrassed today, and then thump chelsea 3-0 next week.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the tactical discipline. Very well analysed
ReplyDeleteAgree on the players. They get lucky a lot too, but you make your own luck I guess...But the winning mentality they have is second to none as well.
ReplyDeleteWell at least you get notifications :p
ReplyDeletewhy the big fuss over leaving sturridge on the bench jaimie ,rodgers has done the same with most of his signings what makes him so different, the facts may be that is signings on a whole are no better than the club already had
ReplyDeleteAlthough Reading have lost 7 in a row and therefore we should easily beat them, they have got to beat someone sooner or later. Statistically, they are going to beat someone, and the longer they go without winning the more change the next team will be the one that they beat.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hopefully its eight!
The comments from you become more and more comical i tell you.
ReplyDeleteDo you know that Sturridge has had some injury concerns? Allen played less and less because of his shoulder and is out for the rest of the season after going for a shpoulder operation. Borini has been injured for 98% of the season and Assaidi was also at the African Cup of Nations.
Why do you continue to make daft comments Jason?
Nice predicted lineup. You got it spot on. The starting lineup has just been posted.
ReplyDeletewhy do you continue to reply no offence m8 but if we scrape a win today against the mighty reading you will be on here all day about how rodgers is the new shanks ,and how he his going to rule the world ,well imo if we win lose or draw today rodgers will still be the same as he has been all season average ,the same as the majority of is signings and anyone who thinks is signings are world class or even class is quite frankley in need of medication, and to cut it short what your accutualy saying is rodgers sends his scouts out to sign any player that is injury prone and about as durable as a very cheap battery
ReplyDeletehopefully m8 but lets be fair you would not put your house on it would you,i predict 3/1
ReplyDeletepete there not all there cracked up to be believe me ,you cannot pick and choose it notififies you of the people you do not want telling about ;-)
ReplyDeleteAgain your comment is baseless.
ReplyDeleteProve that Borini, Allen, Sturridge and Assaidi are injury prone.
Now I await another daft comment from you.
the proof in how many games they have missed through injury
ReplyDeletewere making reading look like relagation fodder ops they are
ReplyDeleteso in a nutshell your saying rogers plays injured players....thats some kinda coach
ReplyDeleteIm right behind the team & manager as usual but the following has become a trademark of late with certain players.
ReplyDeleteLucas is still struggling for me, off the radar with his passing, timing of his tackles especially in dangerous areas are becoming a trademark. Its a good job reading have not made us pay. Need some serious competition for that position in the summer. Has had enough time to find his feet now no excuses. Hendersons first touch seems is that of a rapist. Glen Johnson going forward of late has been less effective. Above all we have a fine keeper in form today.
Come on reds less keep going in the 2nd half....suso should hopeful get a chance to come on!!
Like i said, I was awaiting another daft comment and I got one.
ReplyDeleteTIKA TAKA
ReplyDeleteoutstanding brilliant ,superb all words i do not want to here out of rodgers mouth in his post match interview,we were a bit unlucky but not the words rodgers will use
ReplyDeleteare you a moron?
ReplyDeleteGarbage! Only started playing when Downing came on!
ReplyDeletethat game was a throw back from last year, chances a plenty and the keeper plays a blinder. Should of won, but been saying that far to often over the last two years. Liverpool have reverted back to creating chances and not scoring, at least a liverpool player did score today as carroll bagged one for west ham.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding performance from their keeper but come on...
ReplyDelete- Crap passing overall, wrong man often picked out, stupid long shots gone astray, inaccurate passes
- Sturridge is so wasteful, ridiculous.
- Hendo yanked off because Suarez/Sturridge/Coutinho cannot score. Rodgers sits on the 1 sub. Inject Shelvey or Suso into the midfield! Lucas should of been the man to go.
- Could of easily lost the game because another attacker was just thrown onto the pitch, recently that's all BR has done.
- Johnson had a terrible game, too predictable in cutting inside. I'd drop him.
- Apart from Henderson, Suarez and sometimes Gerrard and Coutinho, no evidence of pressing at all.
is that what they call it i have another word for it
ReplyDeletewe may still hold onto 7th place jase so things arnt as bad as they look....and reading have some good players, i cant name any of them like but they must be good......
ReplyDeletewe have no future!!!
ReplyDeletewe do its just not top 4 ....and i cant see it changing next year....
ReplyDeletewhats strange is rogers game plan is based on pressing but non or very few of the players do it....ive said before rogers and his game is all style no substance...you have to earn your right to play....am i disappointed at the result yes am i surprised no....looking forward to rogers interview though its the comedy event of the day
ReplyDelete7th its were we have been about all season 5points behind everton and they have a game in hand but all in all its progress ;-)
ReplyDeleteagree m8 on all points were just not good enough hard but true
ReplyDeletei agree, i was just having fun in response to NWA. I cant see us getting nowhere near top 4 next year unless something dramatic happends.
ReplyDeletewonder how rogers is going to react next week when he hears ringing around the ground 'RAFA, RAFAEL, RAFA, RAFAEL, RAFAEL BENITEZ!!!!'
ReplyDeleteThat game was stressful, there keeper looks good, made brilliant saves, kept them in it, no one blame Rodgers for the last two games, he played a team which made chances to score but we didn't take them, but that's part of the game,
ReplyDeletewhy not blame rodgers is he excempt from blame as his mother sent a note in saying we can not blame him
ReplyDeletejaimie am i supposed to take thegoodtimesereback.s comments constantly if he can critisize me constantly yet iam just supposed to put up with it ,and anotherthing jaimie whats the other web sites you keep telling fans to go on again ,tell me again i think i will give them a try cannot be more biased to certain posters than yours
ReplyDeleteHow can a manager get blamed when his tactics worked? If it wasn't for last ditch defending and there keeper on top form we would of won that easily, like Final score said, we have made progress under Rodgers and we are SIX points better off than last season.
ReplyDeleteBR saying we should adopt the dortmund model, is he talking himself out of a job?? that comment is basically saying 'FSG go and get Klopp' as his system is better!!
ReplyDeletelook m8 you really do need to get of your rodgers is god alter so what if we are 6 points better of than last season we have no european football next season and no silverwear this,i know what i would rather have by the way rodgers gets paid extremely well for his team selection ,AND FOR THE LAST TIME WILL YOU STOP GOING ON ABOUT PROGRESS,i hope you understand now then at last we mite be making progress
ReplyDeletehope he succeeds lol
ReplyDeleteWell last year we had more chances than anyone in the league, hit the crossbar and post about a million times, missed aload of penalties. the tactics worked but our players could not finish and about 12 goal keepers got mana of the match last year, welcome to KD's frustrated world BR. If KD gets the blame then so does rogers, you cant have it both ways!!!
ReplyDeletebut wasn't last season meant to be a disaster...albeit 2 finals....rogers has made Liverpool into what i call a fair weather team....if its nice weather ..a nice pitch...and everything going right coupled with the other team not pressuring us we look great ...if any of those dynamics change we have no answer ....i watched the the game and it wasn't one way traffic reading had periods of pressure and could of scored...its funny the arguments your making for rogers wouldn't wash for kenny
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think that a change of manager might be the only solution to our ongoing misery tbh, either that or we risk a mass exodus of quality players....
ReplyDelete0-0 against Reading is just not good enough no matter which way you look at it, i've been excusing BR and *rightly* IMO blaming the players for too long but something has to change & if im honest im not sure how good a manager BR could be or is....
I had reservations about the appointment & said as much at the time & yes the players are letting him down but IF at the end of the season its a choice between keeping BR & risk losing are better quality players in the summer then im sure i know who the majority of the fans would want to keep at the Club...
The whoie thing has (rightly or wrongly) an air of inevitability about it.
has rodgers made it yet i could do with a good laugh
ReplyDeletethat sounds like last season minus the finals ...if thats the case bye bye rogers
ReplyDeleteyou can have it both ways its the rodgers way ,win and were outstanding lose and were outstanding
ReplyDeleteno matter what the players say i think he has lost certain elements of the dressing room...ive always felt he was out of his depth hes a charlatan who takes credit for other people ideas .....
ReplyDeletebecause daft people comment on them is my guess
ReplyDeleteAt end of the day since Rafa left we've finished 6,7,8 if he finishes 7th with more points total than last year then it still be down as progress, we wall want CL but you've got to realise the teams ahead of us have better squads. sorry but you don't need silver wear every year we got it last year this year we never get over it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he will get sacked, FSG wanted a young manager and wanted progress in the league, they got that at end of the day.
ReplyDeleteor european football
ReplyDeleteYou have a fair point but we can't keep sacking managers, it's just costing money which can go towards transfers... We just need stability
ReplyDeletesays who the season isnt over yet
ReplyDeletehttp://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/8636893/Brendan-Rodgers-has-no-complaints-after-Liverpool-held-by-Reading
ReplyDeletelink up above is BR post match interview. we gave everything and could not give any more!!! really, how about score, that's what they could of done!!!!
At end of the day that's the past, we've got Brendan he isn't going to get sacked so you might aswell just back him.
ReplyDeleteWe have to get more points than last year which will be done...
ReplyDeletecrap?
ReplyDeleteno need for defensive reinforcements rodgers now says we have one of the best defences in the league ,he opens his mouth and shite flows
ReplyDeletehow can i back a guy who does and says dumbass things ...this guy is paid a fortune the fans who watch him are not ....
ReplyDeleteThat be nice to but we haven't got a squad which could fight on all fronts which this season has shown...
ReplyDeleteyou could call it that lol
ReplyDeletewe could have won the game twice apparently ...not sure how thats achievable without scoring ...we could have drawn the game twice would have been more apt
ReplyDeleteCourse we could of, but it wasn't ment to be, if one goal went in then the flood gates would of opened, credit there keeper played very well.
ReplyDeleteAll Rodgers can do is put out a strong team, he did, we kept going at them, they put there body on the line, nothing to do with Rodgers he wasn't the one shooting.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it.....
ReplyDeleteno m8 this seaon as shown that with rodgers in charge we will not fight on any fronts
ReplyDeleteWake up and smell the coffee people. Brendan saying it would be a blessing not being in europe, trying to equate us to Dortmund, hell bent on implementing a system that got a team promoted and to mid table in the premiership. If you read between the lines of what he says - he's trying to ask for 5 years to turn us into top four contenders.
ReplyDeleteAll we have is belief - either you believe he will bring success or you don't - there is nothing on his CV that suggests success will come. How long do we wait?
And in other news, Rafa to visit anfield next week - it will be good to hear Rafa get a big reception.
yes but whos flood gates ours or theres
ReplyDeleteone thing yeah, our squad isn't good enough, even Rodgers said there isn't no depth, teams ahead of us have done better because of there squad, but this season was always going to be a transition period, changing styles getting use to it, give him time patients doesn't cost nothing,
ReplyDeleteexcept time and points my patients have just about run out wiith rodgers
ReplyDeleteWhen you build something, you firstly put the foundation in, then build from there, it takes time, your patients can go that's fine but he still be in charge next season. :)
ReplyDeleteand on that bomb shell i will just go and slit my wrists
ReplyDeleteThat's up to you, but look at BVB it took them 5 years to change there fortunes, it's all about patiences
ReplyDeletehis reaction would be outstanding
ReplyDeleterogers and fsg have more models than airfix...from money ball to baseball to Barcelona just past Swansea all the way to Dortmund ....nothing like a clear plan
ReplyDeleteits unforgivable to say you are better off being out of competitions...the great managers aspire to win everything ..and rogers talks about wining mentality...how is accepting its better to be out of a competition conducive to a winning mentality its the polar opposite talk about double standards .......
ReplyDeleteso kennys season was a success then as we are in a simialr position in the table ..but kenny did well on the cup fronts....im sorry but your argument is facile
ReplyDeletewhere is the foundation for next year ? lol ...allen and borini coming back into the team ...carra retiring.....gerrad a year older...am i missing something here lol
ReplyDeletewe are being consistent this year we are playing poor against all the teams
ReplyDeletei have massive worries over next year ..i think we will stuggle big time
ReplyDeletemade me laugh, lol
ReplyDeletei think its called youporn
ReplyDeletelol made me tickle
ReplyDeleteOur front three of coutinho,Suarez,Sturridge would of gelled, midfield of hendo,Lucas,Gerrard would of known there roles, only our defence will be added too, then rest will be first team/squad players. Also go see aliens stats for this season, il go find the link for you.
ReplyDeleteKenny knew when FSG wanted a younger manager he will step aside he knew that before he signed..
ReplyDeletehe would of signed a 1 yr contract instead of 3. KD thought he was here for a longer period.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.eplindex.com/29389/a-defence-of-joe-allen-liverpool-fc-stats-analysis.html
ReplyDeleteFSG told him that, when FSG saw rodgers and Martinez then they told kenny he wasn't needed and at the end of the day Rodgers got the job and all his trying to is beat last season points total, so he can get on with his job, Liverpool is a big job people need to be patient.
ReplyDeletewhy give a short term manager a 3 year contract.....there is no plan trust me
ReplyDeleteright can anyone tell me at any point this season where they have jumped for joy at any Liverpool moment?? seriously as a fan, i have been morbidly entertained, that's it. the last memorable game where i jumped for joy was man city at the end of last season an before that the semi final of the FA Cup. So what has BR done to make the excited for the future, for me nothing, i look at Liverpool and i just see a mid table club now ambling through the season. I am not even excited for next year as whats their to be excited about as we will not make a title challenge, we will no doubt fail for 4th and there is no evidence that we will beat any top sides if we do well in the cups as we have not beaten any. At least with Rafa, impossible was possible and KD wore his heart on his sleeve so you joined him in the journey, BR waffles crap and you know that he will never ever win the league with Liverpool, that is fact!!
ReplyDeleteAs a fan i am disappointing and want a change as i cant go through another season with him in charge as he achieves nothing and whats worse he is full of it, its embarrassing.
fsg just want a manager who they can dictate policy to
ReplyDeletereading these comments you would think we beat reading 5 nil.....rogers really has em fooled
ReplyDeletereally where you there?? m8 FSG saw rogers and thought youth coach!!!, BR is at liverpool to serve FSG agenda and that is sign youth to sell on for profit. Arsenal have been a profitable non winning side for years, this is why wenger is going nowhere and arsenal dividend payments are amazing, as long as arsenal make 4th sell on their star player, the board are set. maximum profit for minimum outlay.
ReplyDeletewhen fsg got rogers it was an admission of mid table....what will change next year....12m 29 year old Williams ....Allen back in midfield ...i just cant see us doing anything ,.....the problem you have is we beat a couple of bum teams by 3 and everybody buys into it ......but nobody mentions the bum teams out playing us.....all this talk of tika taka and Barcelona is just a smokescreen to build fans hopes up ..the reality is rogers hasn't the skill or personality to pull it off ...i cant see players busting a gut for him ...i can see players wanting to switch him off
ReplyDeleteIm so frustrated.. Almost made me wanna join your club there jason :)... But it really made me started to think that maybe someone has put some cursed or magic spell on us.. Something like voodoo lol... Cause, i never saw a team that so unlucky, so inconsistent, in a very long period over and over again.. Its been years that we found ourself in a situation like this.. Not to mention all the mistakes in team management and transfers dealing... I just dont get it.. How??
ReplyDeleteYes we get the message. You want him gone!
ReplyDeleteWhy do you and others have to go on and on about how much you don't want him?
This site has gone downhill.I think you and others put up the same message but in different words to seek approval.I have my reservations about BR but am willing to give him another transfer window to prove himself. If he doesn't come up to the required standards after that time i will say without bleating on about it in every message!
What's embarrassing is the lack of support this man is getting.YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE,maybe a new song is needed to fall in line with dissenting voices because you and others make a mockery out of our club mantra.
Nothing constructive or insightful comes from this site anymore. It's just turned into a one way train ride on the sheep express.
well we were. In my view, getting held to a 0-0 draw at reading, and a second 0-0 result in a row, for a club like us, is embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteI did not watch this match so I cannot comment about anything in particular. Anyway, on paper, it's same old stuff for the past many seasons, many shots at goal but then either the opposite goalie will do a 'Peter Schmeichel' or defenders will do a 'Adams, Dixon, Winterburn and Bould' or one of their striker will do a moment of 'Pele'. Strange isn't it? I've to admit, for most of the time, I don't even know the names of these opposition goalies, defenders, strikers or even their managers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with one of the poster here saying lesser teams always get themselves prepared to lose against Man Utd but motivated to get something positive against LFC. Lesser teams don't bang on beating the top teams but lose against fellow struggling teams, it's just not in the system of survival. So can I say that LFC is no longer being regarded as a top team or at least, a fearsome team in EPL and Anfield is no longer a fortress for visiting teams?
Starting from many seasons ago, I'm constantly more fearful of LFC meeting the botton 6 teams than the top 6 teams. There were seasons under RB that LFC usually got positive results against top teams but blew things against lesser teams. For the 3 managers after him, LFC is not hurting the top teams but always get hurt against lesser teams. Reason for this heritage, only God knows. At the end of the day, no Champions League footy to show for in years. In turn, not attractive to star players, or should I say decent league players, Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson as good examples.
But the more worrying thing is that the owners still regard the club as one of the big boys in the league, continue throwing silly money at other clubs for players. However, not on star players, only unproven or decent league players. 20 mil pounds for the player of the year of Aston Villa, 16 mil pounds for a young player from Sunderland, 35 mil pounds for a half-season wonderkid from Newcastle, 15 mil pounds for a young central midfielder from Swansea and 11 mil pounds for an unknown Italian striker. Even the 22.4 mil pounds for Luis Suarez was a gamble. Come on guys, touch our own hearts and say something truthful, do we genuinely regard them as players that can reverse the fortune of LFC before they came, or crudely, do we know their full names before they came? These bunch of players cost more than a third of a new stadium, God's sake. Most hurting of all, due to their price tags, they are chosen ahead of cheap or free players, young or old, Raul Meireles, Bellamy, Tom Ince and Nuri Sahin etc. I know nuts about actual ground situation and lousy observer of the game but I really cannot tell the difference in terms of performance between expensive and cheap/free players when they were on the pitch, unfortunately, results did not differentiate it either.
Fallen from grace is nothing shameful but being deluded is. Rebuilding takes time, with a lot of patience coupled with astute business acumen needed. Be down to earth, there are swarms of cheap unproven players going to different clubs every season, keyword here is cheap. Do what Newcastle and Aston Villa is doing is nothing shameful, in my most honest opinion. Give young players chances to develop, meaning to play, not on the bench. I thought BR was doing fine in this aspect earlier in the season but has since been eroded by the 'values' valued by the club, maybe. Or maybe we are waiting for the next Tom Ince in the making, valuation of Suso, Raheem Sterling and Samed Yesil at 15 mil pounds each, but only after they left the club.
Buying our way back to the top is fine, but is not realistic, given the present status of the club. No Champions League football means we are not going to be attractive to really good players, both status and financial wise. Of course, we can continue to go over the limit and throw silly money on players but will we do a Leeds or Portsmouth at the end of the day? It's anybody's guess.
its the lfc way
ReplyDeletei blame it on the portrait it has mystical powers if you stare at it to much,it must have rodgers spends hours looking at it ,and he thinks hes been outstanding
ReplyDeletei jumped for joy when rodgers was ill and could not make the bench
ReplyDeleteI feel as though LFC have been cursed by the four Horseman of the Apocalypse, first we had Rafa as the red horse who in his final year brought the curse of "division and anxiety" then came Hodgson the black horse who brought "fear and anger", then along came a white horse and its rider "KD" brought "chaos and war" and now we have a green horse carrying Rodgers who has brought the curse of "mediocrity and bulldust" .....is there any hope?
ReplyDeleteThe past four years its been hell being a red supporter, gone are the days when we were invincible, the Anfield fortress is gone, the never say die spirit has left us, gone are the days when a game excited one so much you felt like running onto the field to lift Gerrard or Torres up onto your shoulders, instead we have been defeated by the four horseman and yesterday's game "we looked beaten and lost". Is there hope? ... Rodgers is just too inexperienced a Manager for a top flight club so I fear not.
