£10m LFC target insists: I'm in 'best form of my career'. Upgrade on Agger...?

Liverpool are reportedly favourites to land Swansea City defender Ashley Williams this summer, and with the club desperately in need of new defenders, the Wales International is an enticing option to replace the seemingly outgoing Martin Skrtel. Joe Allen recently hinted that he'd like to see Williams at Liverpool, and the player himself is flattered by the Anfield interest.

In an interview yesterday with Wales Online, Williams insisted that he's currently in the best form of his career, and reacted positively to Liverpool's interest. He noted:

“It is always nice to hear people say nice things about you and a lot of people have been talking and saying good things. It just means I’m probably doing my job right and I try to keep working hard.

“I think I am probably in the best form of my career, but I don’t think that I am the best in the Premier League or anything like that. It’s just about keeping at my game, and playing well"

Over the last few months, £10m-rated Williams has been repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield, and according to a recent report in The Mirror, the Reds are in pole position to sign him:

"Liverpool have emerged as favourites to land the defender. Williams has already indicated a preference for Anfield if he is allowed to leave in the summer".

With Brendan Rodgers seemingly losing confidence in the increasingly error-prone Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, new central defenders are on the agenda, and a summer bid for the £10m-rated Swansea and Wales captain seems inevitable.

When asked earlier this week about the possibility of Williams moving to Anfield, Joe Allen made it clear that he's a fan of the idea. He told the Daily Mail:

"Ashley [Williams] has grown enormously as a player. He has done fantastic job for Swansea in that regard and he has been first class for Wales. He has got a lot of experience over the last few seasons at a high level, and I’m sure he would be pretty comfortable if he was to play at an even higher level"

  1. I really hope not! No no no.. Waste of transfer fee, wages. No re sale value. Benatia- godin- Sakho- Toby aldervield (I've definitely spelt that wrong. Plays for Ajax)- 4 there off top of my head who are better, younger and more ambitious signings.

  2. Yes........LFC must prefer to get sign the great  players who also have RE-SALE VALUE. Mamadou Sakho,Matts Hummells,Neven Subotic,Raphael Varane, Dejan Lovren,Mehdi Benatia and Benedikt Howedes is good players LFC needed to sign in.It is not the right times if the owner too stingy for drawing big budget to get fishing great players. When the clubs can attract great players joining LFC, it is meaning the fans will be increasing. When the fans increase, you can get more benefit for your income. Can you see it???LFC must stop investment for gred C players type. They will be long tern planning failure.

  3. We have Kelly (22 years old, 1.91 m), Coates (22 years old, 1.96 m), Wisdom (19 years old, 1.86 m), Wilson (21 years old, 1.87 m), four young center backs, that I prefer to stick with, rather than an 28 years old player that played all his life in championship or midtable EPL teams (West Brom youth, Hednesford Town, Stockport County and Swansea).

I don't believe that Ashley Williams is not a player that will give something bigger and better to LFC. After all, I cannot understand why we have to buy a player that is worst than Skrtel or Carragher and miles away from Agger (if the Dane can attract the interest of Barcelona or Man City, it's not by accident)!

The main player that facing the danger of leaving because of this situation is Skrtel and the career of Slovakian talks for him. He plays in European football level from 2004 with Zenit and from 2008 with us, he has CHL experience, he is the leader of his national team, played for Slovakia 60 times and selected for the World Cup of 2010 (played all the games, where Slovakia pass to the "16"). He was Slovak Footballer of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2011 & 2012 and Standard Chartered Liverpool Player of the Season in last year (just few months ago). Also he played 200 matches for Liverpool in England and Europe.

If Rodgers wants Skrtel out, then alright, he is the manager, so he can go for it, but... He has to do it for very good money and he has to bring a BETTER PLAYER than the Slovakian! And Ashley Williams is FUCKING NOT!!!

The hole situation reminds me the time that miserable Hodgson, send away Insua to bring rueful Konchesky. Now Insua plays for Atletico Madrid (before that he was at Sporting Lisbon), while Konchesky is somewhere in Championship..! Rodgers, is making huge mistakes... I don't want to say something more about them now... After all we have to keep somebody for sometime and not change managers every year, like a not serious team... Finally I have to say that definately patience is a virtue, but has its limits as well... YNWA
