Confirmed line-up vs. Oldham: BR names exciting team, and a new LFC Captain...

Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has named a strong attacking XI for this afternoon's FA Cup match with Oldham Athletic.

Fans will be excited to see Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge and Borini in the same team, and if they click, we should see lots of chances created, and hopefully, a fair few goals.

Suarez is also captain for the day. It just goes to show that cheating, and admitting to being a cheat in public, actually pays off! Great message to send out to everyone, Brendan. Bravo!

FULL TEAM: Jones, Wisdom, Robinson, Coates, Skrtel, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Borini, Sturridge, Suarez.

SUBS: Gulacsi, Carragher, Shelvey, Lucas, Downing, Gerrard, Suso.

Probable formation: With the players selected, it could easily be a 442 or a 433 (4213)

------------------ Jones

Wisdom ----- Coates --- Skrtel --- Robinson

Sterling ---- Allen --- Henderson ---- Borini

--------- Sturridge --- Suarez.

OR:

------------------ Jones

Wisdom ----- Coates --- Skrtel --- Robinson

------------- Allen --- Henderson

----------------- Suarez

Sterling ------------------------ Borini

---------------- Sturridge

Predicting a 2-0 win for Liverpool, Mark Lawrenson argued that the Latics 'have not really caught fire' in the league this season, and suggested that their 'lack of consistency may cost them. He He told the BBC:

"The Latics will run Liverpool a lot closer than they did in the third round at Anfield last season, when they lost 5-1.

"I cannot see Luis Suarez starting for the Reds but I also cannot see Oldham causing Brendan Rodgers' team too many problems"

Jan Molby believes that today's game is a 'tricky tie' for Liverpool, but he's convinced that the Reds will be too strong for Oldham:

"Oldham are struggling in League One and have fallen a long way since their days in the top flight. [They] will expect Liverpool to be better than them so we mustn’t disappoint them. We can’t afford to start slowly and give them anything to hold on to.

  1. Nice attacking team.

Little surprised that Shelvey doesnt get a game. Hopefully he can come on for Suarez at half time!

  2. Why not Yesil instead of Suarez!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Cant see why suarez, borini sturridge should ve been enough to beat them, did rodgers forget on weds we got arsenal then city?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Tricky tie for us today. Hopefully the pitch will be decent enough to get our passing game going. Pleased to see Robinson playing too.

  5. Suarez is Captain....

    ReplyDelete
  6. borini sucks on a whole different level

  7. A disgusting 24/7 cheat made captain of Liverpool Football Club. Can't find words here.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Who do you support?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Why Yesil instead of Suarez...the guy is18 played 1 1st team game...Suarez and sturridge need time to develop there partnership...an away game in the cup is most definitely not the time to play Yesil...

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think that is apparent from my comment?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Don't question others posters' support just because you don't like their opinion. Suarez is a self-confessed cheat. End of story. It's indisputable, yet only a week after confessing in public that he's a cheat, Rodgers makes him captain of LFC?

What kind of message does that send out? It's basically a reward for cheating. How does being rewarded with the captaincy deter Suarez from cheating in the future?

    There's no disincentive at all.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Then why bother coming onto a LFC fan site?...seriously have you nothing better to do?...How about you follow a team and put your obvious abundance of intellience into supporting them...not wasting it here on the likes of us...(hope you understand sarcasm)...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Too bad, that "24/7 cheat" is going to ruin your week and probably the month of February for you, he's gonna have a hat-trick (2 goals and 1 pen).

    ReplyDelete
  14. I hope that sarcasm concerns the whole of your comment, not just the last sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  15.  Get a life!

    ReplyDelete
  16. You apparently have no idea what I'm talking about. Hat-tricks, goals and assists have nothing to do with what I said.

  17. Aidan - Don't question others posters' support just because you don't like their opinion. Suarez is a self-confessed cheat. End of story. It's indisputable, yet only a week after confessing in public that he's a cheat, Rodgers makes him captain of LFC?

Tornike is not wasting anyone's time; you are with your superfan, groupthink approach to what 'support' should be about.

And this is not an LFC 'fansite'. It is an LFC discussion/analysis site; if you want constant praise and homogenised views, go somewhere else.

People with their own individiual views are always welcome here; those who just follow the crowd and attack others from deviating from what's perceived to be the norm, are not.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ramzey - after Rodgers said last week that Suarez's cheating is 'unacceptable', you think it sends out a good message to make him the captain of LFC?! We've heard nothing about any fine or punishment; instead, he gets rewarded. I take it that's okay with you?

    ReplyDelete
  19. you tell me lad I'm sure you get what I mean...anyway not going to waste time on replying to you...I'll just enjoy watching the team I support win in the cup...time well spent...

    ReplyDelete
  20. A general note (once again): Anyone who attacks anyone else/questions their support for having a different opinion, will be banned. Argue/question/debate, bit do not attack others for their views.

I don't care if you think someone's view is 'out there' or against the grain - if you want to continue posting on this site then respond in a civil manner.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We actually want to go through, right? Yesil might be a promising talent, but he looked woefully short of being ready for first team action in his one outing so far.

    ReplyDelete
  22. BR might be sending a subtle message to Wenger, i like this tactic, Wenger wont know what to expect on wednesday...and he'll most likely withdraw Sturridge, Henderson and Suarez later on. :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. He can't do anything right, can he. If he played more fringe players today, people would slate him for not taking the competition serious, now he's getting slated for fielding a starting 11 that may put us out of sight in an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Its not a case of not liking their opinion "24/7 cheat" really?...all game every game he cheats, really?...this is nothin to do with being a superfan it's about being objective...it's about disagreeing with a comment...Is suarez perfect no...is he a "24/7 cheat" no...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Is part of a discussion not questioning? Can their support not be questioned? can that not be part of health debate..

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sinking to new depths making Suarez captain.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There's nothing in Tornike's comment that suggests he doesn't support LFC. IN fact, it's the total opposite: he clearly supports LFC, not Suarez FC (i.e. the team over the individual), and that's the way it should be.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Fine, then question the contention that Suarez is a 24/7 cheat; that is the main view being expressed there. It has nothing to do with support of the club.

    ReplyDelete
  29. sinking to new depths going 1/0 down

    ReplyDelete
  30. I thought that Rodgers said that Suarez admitting publicly to having created a foul against Stoke was unacceptable. He had obviously told Suarez before that cheating isn't acceptable, at least that's why I think he isn't going down easily anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Saurez sympathiser4:12 pm, January 27, 2013

No matter what people on this site label LS; he has been the shining light this season on the pitch for LFC!!! Yes he has made some mistakes, however give me Saurez, warts and all, any day everyday!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. By stating "and that's the way it should be" you, at least indirectly, suggest, that those who don't see Suarez mainly as a cheat, support the club the wrong way. In a way you "attack" those who disagree with Suarez being a 24/7 cheat.

    ReplyDelete
  33. There is nothing in his comment that suggests he supports LFC...not to mind "clearly supports"?...You can take what you want from the original comment...

    ReplyDelete
  34. His name is Suarez, though.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, how come the opposition don't simply role over.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oldham probably, too, wish that Suarez wasn't playing for us.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't care. Attack the argument, not the person. Just because you don't like someone's view doesn't mean they don't support the club.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Suarez sympathiser4:20 pm, January 27, 2013

    I'm talkin about Lius Saurez!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Don't know who that is.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hm, just like the other commentator thought that calling Suarez a 24/7 cheat can't come from a Liverpool supporter. I'm not trying to side with anyone here. Expression of personal view should go both ways.

    ReplyDelete
  41. is he haven,t noticed  he must be keeping a low profile

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just because you agree with them doesn't make them right...I have disagreed with the comment...time to move on...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yes, but he said it; I didn't. You're inferring something that's not there. I didn't think what you're suggesting when I wrote that comment, whereas the other posters specifically questioned someone else's support. There's a difference. You can infer whatever you like, but it's baseless in this instance.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Liverpool score and who gets the goal, that right!!  The more you put him down the stronger he gets.  Thank god we have Suarez otherwise we would be in relegation zone......would you like to swap that for Suarez then Jamie??  I guess not.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Liverpool would be nowhere near the relegation zone without Suarez, and exaggeration like that is dangrous, not helpful. He is not the messiah; he is a footballer, and if he wasn't here, other players in the team would step up and/or we'd have another striker.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well, as I've said, I thought that your comment might suggest that one specific way is the right way to support, hence other ways are wrong. But we probably could discuss about it 'till tomorrow morning and wouldn't be any further than now.

    ReplyDelete
  47. He's scared of putting a foot wrong as he knows that you are watching :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. That is what you're projecting onto what I said. It's not what I actually said, is it?

    ReplyDelete
  49. If we could swap him with someone of exactly the high quality he is, but without ever producing any negative headlines, I'd do that swap.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Everyone has their own opinions regarding suarez.Bt that does nt mean that he is not a liverpool supporter.Everybody is entitled to their opinions.Lets just enjoy todays match and hope liverpool wins. That imo is the best thing we can do as a liverpool fan.

    ReplyDelete
  51. "and that's the way it should be". Quite a clear statement that you've made there, hardly any projection.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, it's a clear statement of my opinion, i.e. supporting the club over the individual is the right way to go. It has nothing to do with anyone's individual right to have their own view though.

    ReplyDelete
  53. coates just won a header!! god we look suss with him playin

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agreed...shouldn't of questioned the other guys support...just couldn't believe the comment..

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well, yes, just as if someone claimed "I am always right". Just an opinion. Suggests that everybody who disagrees is wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes, but I didn't say that, did I?!

    ReplyDelete
  57.  i hope BR tells boys how horrible they have been. absolute disgrace, Coates has been so bad it hurts. green light for the sell. i feel physically ill for watching this rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Defensive mistakes costing us again. Coates is having a nightmare overall. I think this performance will be the final nail in his coffin.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well, our defence looks pretty poor. Coates, as much as I like him, doesn't seem to be up for the task. Jones, as much as Reina is off form, isn't anywhere as good as our No. 25 and looked shaky all afternoon. Entire back four look out of their depth. Entire team can't handle the "in your face" approach of Oldham. No death by football as there's little "cultured" football to watch so far.

Quite some contest to watch, not easy on the eye, but, well, bit old-school with a bit of hand-bags in there, too.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wtf is it with us conceding goals late in the first half? Come on lads, lets roast these t*ats in the second half!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Just made an example to make clearer what my point is. My aim was a rendering (don't know whether that's the correct word).

    ReplyDelete
  62. p"ss off i can find the words

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wow, that was rubbish play from us for their second goal. The keeper, the lack of composure with the passing at the back, etc.  Good pressing from Oldham but still, that was poor from us, really poor. Yep, maybe a foul on Sturridge but as they say, play to the whistle and plenty of time between the alleged foul and their goal for us to get positioned and composed.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Get well soon, then!

    ReplyDelete
  65. aye. for such a big guy he seems clueless in air. btw i dislike Skrtel also. every time he tries to play with his feet it makes me cringe. Coates has made me say it, here it comes..... christ.... Field Carragher.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Facts Jamie, fact suarez stepped up and not only his 20 goals this season but his do or die attitude has been a major plus for us this season.  Name me one player right now in our team who can fill in Suarez shoes this season and do what he has done for the team.
I actually think you're making a dangerous statement and not helpful anyone but yourself.
Not many defenses in the PL have coped well with him and would easily be snapped up by the big clubs around europe.
If you're not to careful, you could end up eating your words one day and be end being the lone ranger!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Half time changes:

Coates off and SELL! Hopefully conclude the deal during half time?

Brad Jones off and benched for the rest of the season what a shocker!! Awefull!

    Sterling off!

Brandon Rodgers plays two mids and 1 of them is extremely poor(Joe Allen) what did he expect? Nothing is happening in the middle of the park.

    Maddening to watch that.

    ReplyDelete
  68. IF is a very big word, a player of that quality would NEVER come to LFC until we are in the champs lge.  FACT

    ReplyDelete
  69. wot was the referee doing ? a forearm in the back and then stamped on. f!ckin piss poor refereeing ! come on reds carra and gerrard have got to come on

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks for finally confirming you are not a LFC fan. You never fooled anyone though. Your rant at Suarez is disgusting - unlike you he has the bottle to admit he cheated the public.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Your sycophantic hero worship is nauseating.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Erm, correct me if I'm wrong, but Suarez came here without CL football on offer.

    ReplyDelete
  73. What a poor goal to concede. Comical defending again.

    ReplyDelete
  74. the commentators are drooling over their striker but every time he jumps his hands are all over coates' face, its ridiculous. the sturridge call was woeful.

Borini's chance was so good and he just embarrassed himself

    ReplyDelete
  75. 3 1, Humiliating , come on lads , lets see some bottle

    ReplyDelete
  76. allen and sterling off for gerrard and downing

    ReplyDelete
  77. come on rodgers what the f"ck you waiting for

    ReplyDelete
  78. No middle or leadership this game, awful!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm talking of the present, right now his value would be double and would not have an issue of getting champs lge football if he desired.  Name a player of his quality who would come right now and do better than Suarez??

    ReplyDelete
  80. I think we may have harmed sterling's development badly by playing him so much this season. He's been playing like a very average 18 year old for weeks. He has lost his aura of being a tricky teenager and his confidence must be diminishing every game.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't think LFC have damaged his development - he's just not as good as everyone seems to think. For now, he's a one-trick pony, but perhaps he'll improve over the next couple of years.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yes, Suarez is the world's best player, and if he left, Liverpool would wither and die, and end up in the Championship within a year.

    ReplyDelete
  83. "Do better than Suarez". That is impossible to say as any player could work or not work in a certain set-up.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Expecting us to pull ourselves level with the way the game has panned out after their 3rd goal but then again, all it takes is a few aerial questions asked of our defence for Oldham to get another.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I agree that he was never amazing, his goals/assists stats are poor. But hes already a first team player, with all the responsibilities and pressures that brings, when it would be much better for him if he still had his innocence, with noone knowing what to make of him yet. This means everyone can see he is a "one-trick pony", which must dent his confidence, therefore harming his development.

    ReplyDelete
  86. True, but from his past comments I know he supports Liverpool, too.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I actually agree with Ro. We'd probably have problems finding a player as good as Suarez and willing to join us now. Like him or hate him, but he is an extremely good player.

    ReplyDelete
  88. all subs used allens still on ???????

    ReplyDelete
  89. In the past, we lost Keegan, Rush, Dalglish, Torres etc, and the club didn't fold. Good players always come in/step-up, or come through the ranks.

Suarez is no different. If we lose him, it won't make a difference. The club has been out of the CL for three years now, and league positions have been crap. The presence of Suarez hasn't improved any of that, has it?

LFC are on the way up, with or without Suarez, and he is not integral to the club's eventual return to the top.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I don't share your dislike of Allen, but have to admit that I didn't see that coming (him scoring today).

    ReplyDelete
  91. must be at least 7mins injury time all ready

    ReplyDelete
  92. Don't think we'd fold right now (if that means getting relegated), but back then, when we lost all those players, we were in a much better position than we are today (apart from Torres leaving).

We probably would be worse off without Suarez right now (goals and points wise, not negative headlines wise). He, currently is our only world-class player and I don't want to see him moving elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  93. With all due respect Jamie, you keep on putting suarez down and the man keeps getting up, fights back and proves people wrong.  Your persist negativity with LS is now somewhat nonsensical.  I think you might get a nose bleed if he won the PFA award.

    ReplyDelete
  94. "if we lose him, it won't make a difference"...I think I've heard it all now...a truely comical comment...

    ReplyDelete
  95. their players have been all over ours the whole game.

I think all these cupsets are due the greater physicality and work rate of lower league teams, and the fact that composure seems to go out the window from the top teams.

    ReplyDelete
  96. and today i think we have seen the real sturridge

    ReplyDelete
  97. Let's get the knives out.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Well, no one to blame but ourselves today

    ReplyDelete
  99. True, but the Oldham players have pick-pocketed our players pretty often today. Think that was a sign of complacency and under-estimation of the opposition from our players.

    ReplyDelete

Coates needs to be sold, he isn't good enough, he just is a liability. Should of played carra. Robison looks shocking. Send him out on loan. Need a new LB ASAP. Rodgers needs to give them a kick up the back side.

    ReplyDelete
  101. So much for getting level. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Nope, its not. You could read it that way but Rodgers may have read it another way. Making him captain might force him to up his game and his attitude as he knows that the other lads will be looking up to him now. Its like what Scolari did with Ronaldo to make him act more mature. It's to make him realize that he has to act like a leader and deliver the goods.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Embarrassing.. Still I am used to it now.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Sturridge played well I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  105. LFC 1892-2009 then we died6:03 pm, January 27, 2013

We can now concentrate on winning a european trophy and getting into the CL places now.Never rated Brad Jones, but if you want to cut the wage bill and get inferior players in what can we expect. We think we can rely on attracting players by using the iconic LFC name.

    ReplyDelete
  106. You just don't get it, do you? Whether the comment is 'comical' or not is irrelevant. If you disagree, argue against it. One more comment that attacks the person rather than the argument and/or belittles a poster's view, and you're banned.

Just to be clear: I don't take it personally. The point here is to create a discussion community where people are CIVIL and are not belittled for their views. If you can't do that, go elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  107. He took many shots that were never going in and when passing would have been the better option.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Nice one lads, workin down south , will be getting the p*ss ripped out me all week & rightly so, a 3rd div team fighting relegatiion, fair to say the "great" coates shouldnt be seen in first team again, if we were going to go out it wouldnt have been so bad if we,d rested all our first team for wednesday but we didnt even do that, another legendary & humiliating defeat in our recent archives, gutted :(

    ReplyDelete
  109. This one is ALL on BR. A two man midfield? Totally underestimated the opposition. Overrun in midfield thats why there was so much pressure on our defense.

Individual mistakes didnt help him either. Coates poor. Brad Jones beyond words poor. Borini?? Huffed puffed but ultimately no end result. Sterling poor.

    Poor result.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Spot on...

    ReplyDelete
  111. that was hilarious and totally deserved. the goals were attrocious too. cant have any complaints; that has to be the last game Coates has in a liverpool shirt. No real commitment again from most of our team probably thought they were going to walk it; ended up being smashed off the field. One could argue that they had a lot of decisions against them - but it really wasnt good enough to be honest.

But futhermore; I dont really care I was hoping they'd knock us out just so we can concentrate on the league. but still it was Oldham which is disgusting.

Summary - Gerrard can get a replay - hits the post... excellent.

    ReplyDelete
  112. How is Rodgers to blame? He put out an extremely attacking team, and the players on the field are more than good enough to beat Oldham. The players let him down; he put out a good enough team to win.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Not really. Other cheats voting a cheat as Player of the Year? It's inevitable.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yep, our players were complacent today.

    ReplyDelete
  115. his passing was bad and his decision making was woeful i thought hendo was our best player, why start with an iferior team take players off when the game is won imo

    ReplyDelete
  116. robinson was trying to do two much the last minute summed him up perfectly

    ReplyDelete
  117. used to it i won,t go out and watch them no more its embarressing

    ReplyDelete
  118. lol wish i had your optimism we will get nowt this year lucky to be in europe next year

    ReplyDelete
  119. I would agree with you to a point with past players as we had other great players in the team to fill the gap.  Right now we dont have as many within the team to fill the gap if suarez left.  If you cannot see that, then I'm quite surprised for a man of your experience to be so narrow minded.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I`m puzzled by the people saying they are glad we went out. The F.A Cup is something I want us to win. I prefer Trophys over everything.

The defense was shocking today, along with Jones. But I don`t think Coates should be sold on the back of that game. I`ve said loads, he just isn`t ready yet, so shouldn`t even be playing imo. He looks rusty, and it shows. Sturridge didn`t have his best game, but nor did anyone really, I`m gutted we lost, and felt until the last few mins we didn`t really look that up for it. They were extremely aggresive, and we seemed to shy away from that a lot. The passing was pretty poor too.

We lost, I`m gutted, but these things happen, and I aint gunna judge anyone (as in say we should sell) over a cup game, as these results happen every single round.

  121. LFC 1892-2009 then we died6:25 pm, January 27, 2013

if Coutinho and Ince ar coming maybe sell sterling for £30m and Downing for £12m and Henderson for £12m  buy Falcao and Cavani with the £54m.We cannot have average young players running around hoping they will improve into world class superstars, thats what the bloody academy is for.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I dunno, I liked his old skool style. It was a nice change from the can`t breathe on a player prem style we seem to have these days.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Liverpool where dire ...the worst being robinson and coates sterling borini and allen ...and the goalie who was shocking...rogers picked a team which got completely overrun in midfield in the first half........we dont need a fancy brazilian we need some steel in midfield and defence

    ReplyDelete
  124.  coates is garbage .....

    ReplyDelete
  125. shambolic defending  poor team selection the "Manager" has to shoulder some blame ,he is the one who picked the team right.

    ReplyDelete
  126.  mine are already out and have been for some time

    ReplyDelete
  127. Two men midfield is underestimating the opposition. Had he sacrificed Borini or Sterling for Shelvey to play three in the middle we would have been more solid and have enough fire power still from the front three.

He underestimated the opposition and he prayed the price. Individual mistakes didnt help him I concede but there wouldnt have been that much pressure on our back four to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Borini looks like the two bob signing of the season, probably cost more than the entire oldham side, why carra didnt play today i dont know, game was tailor made for him, lets face it, we havent a prayer in europa league so its all about league placement now, hoping we get someone in before thurs but if its just coutinho i cant see what immediate lift he will give us, cant even kick my cat anymore, lol

    ReplyDelete
  129. rogers hasn't a clue tactically how to play these types of teams in these types of conditions....in a game which was going to be a slug fest in midfield he started with the two smallest players in the squad IN MIDFIELD....here is a film quote for you jaimie...IF YOU AINT GOT A BACKUP YOU AINT GOT A PLAN

    ReplyDelete
  130. Prior today, Oldham had lost 7 of their last 8 games. That made me feel better(!)

    ReplyDelete
  131. henderson was our best player today and downing did welll when he came on........

  132. Coates is playing football every day on the training pitch. He shouldn't be as rusty as he looked today, and in his other games this season. I really wanted him to come good, but can't see it happening anymore. The same goes for Robinson, though he is three or so years younger than Coates and might still evolve into a solid squad player.

  133.  im sorry zanatos but robinson and coates are both rubish and should be shipped out

    ReplyDelete
  134. the real shame are some disgraceful fans, if i am a player and read this i would run away from here as fast as i can... so we lost, ok, i am sad and angry  too, but stop slaughtering players and manager every time we loose, we are not some sheik rich club that can buy whatever they want...we are not top team any more, but we are on a good way...you must see that we dont have proper substitutes, starting eleven cant take every competition... only thing that would satisfy you is wining every single game, sorry come back to the earth, for god sake, England league is toughest league in whole world, any team can loose, especially with poor defense like this today...stop complain about everything and start being supporter even in the darkest days...YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  135. so lets get this right tommy as soon as we play a physical team we will lose.....heres a thought why not buy some physical players

    ReplyDelete
  136. its a sign of them being crap

    ReplyDelete
  137. Our problem was Coates and Robinson looked completely out of place today and Jones played very poorly.

BR picked a very strong lineup.  He's not at fault for this one in my opinion.

Oldham played well though.  They deserved the result.

    ReplyDelete
  138. rogers wont learn that every time we start with Allen we are crap ......he does nothing

    ReplyDelete
  139. the manager shoulders all the blame .how can u play coates ? he is the worst centre back ive seen in a red shirt. stering should be playin resi football. no good enough for 1st team.  robinson told his team mates to F"ck off when he fucked up tell u what son u fuck off if thats your attitude. the manager is 2nd rate and took the piss out of oldham with the team selection and its come back to bite u right on the arse. should be sacked no ifs or buts that is not good enough for our club . and nor is the manager

    ReplyDelete
  140. Thank you someone with some sense. Starting four attackers doesnt mean youve picked the strongest starting 11. He was overconfident and we lost for it!

    ReplyDelete
  141. he cant be taking the competition serious hes playing allen and robinson and coates

    ReplyDelete
  142. well today i wished id spent the time cleaning the car

  145.  try going out 3 2

    ReplyDelete
  146. neither did he it was deflected in

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yep. Jones was carrying an injury, I've just read. How poor must Gulacsi be to still not get a game?

    ReplyDelete
  148. This is a team from our 3rd tier mate, our reserves should be able to wup them, ive watched lfc all over europe for over 30 years & iam sick of these dog sh*t performances being excused

    ReplyDelete
  149. Any of the 14 players we've fielded today should be good enough to see off a third tier team, but things like this happen. It has happened before under all sorts of managers we've had, and it will happen again. Happens to other teams, too. Isn't that the magic of the cup, even though a cup upset is hard to swallow if our team falls to it?

    ReplyDelete
  150. there already stuck in someones back

    ReplyDelete
  151. That was not the ENGLAND LEAGUE that was an FA CUP tie against a  league 1 team!!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Who not do it now?

    ReplyDelete
  153. And why the f**k do loads of people spell lose as loose? Rant over!!

    ReplyDelete
  154. good idea, a DM and a center back please.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Just the way Lampard does it then.

    ReplyDelete
  156. the players wont runaway as the are paid a fortune for kicking a ball about .........so lets get this right its okay for a multimillion pound team to get beat by a team full of players who where stacking shelves 6 weeks ago...do me a favour its a disgrace...what about the fans who fork out there hard earned following this dross

    ReplyDelete
  157.  Ps I hope some of the crap playing to day read thid and F*ck off to some other mugs willing to paty them millions

  158. It's very difficult to discuss with such an expert as you are.

    ReplyDelete
  159. So you are the back-stabbing bloke on here.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Robinson makes some bad decisions o
n passing, I think really a loan spell could do him the world of good.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Yep, I don't understand why we didn't go for M'Vila this transfer window.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I'd have expected that team to win against a third tier team to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  163. A good big un will always beat a good little un

    ReplyDelete
  164. I understood perfectly well that he meant a team from an English league. One thing I've always liked about Brits was that they appreciate people trying to speak their language and try (and usually manage) to understand what someone wants to say. And I'm not even sure Amonra isn't a native speaker.

    ReplyDelete
  165. its more fun slating todays performance

    ReplyDelete
  166.  this old chestnut of an excuse keeps getting wheeled out more and more

    ReplyDelete
  167. Out of experience I can tell you that this is a difficult one for non-native-speakers. Thankfully all the native speakers on here lead by example and really comment in a way that people like me can learn a lot about grammar and orthography.

  179. u really set the tone for a bad day today didn t you

    ReplyDelete
  180. hey Jaimie attack the agument not RO ....U mite get banned ....

    ReplyDelete
  181. Sterling had a poor game. He is better coming on as a substitute. BR can be blamed for tactics definitely, however he did put out an attacking team. A team that should have won.

My problem with BR at the moment is that he should be giving consistent game time to players like Coates, Robinson etc. Instead of giving starts in cup competition and than you don't see them for 3 months. At this level that would be hard for a pro to be up to speed so quickly.

Long term I don't think BR is our man!

    ReplyDelete
  182. Jaimie you are wayyy off the mark here ...when we lost those players that U mentioned bar Torres we where a TOP rated team , the best in england ..rite now we are NOT soo you guys have to get real ....UNTIL we donot get CHAMPS LEAGUE no TOP player will want to come here ...

    ReplyDelete
  183. Final score 3.2. Absolutely shambolic defending, no real bite in midfield and not so good up front. I've been calling for Coates to start more games but he was awful today. He was constantly being outmuscled by the striker and the first goal was really poor on his part. For such a big guy he just seems to get pushed around far too easily. What's happened to Stirling? Earlier on in the season he was running at players using his pace and was really direct, now he seems to be scared to lose the ball and just goes backwards all the time. Its been quite a while since ive seen him have a good game and maybe he needs a spell on the subs bench. I hope he doesnt think hes made it now hes signed his bumper contract. Brad Jones has done a good job for us recently but the mistake for the second goal was really poor, should of been an easy pick up but he seems to have that sort of error in his game from time to time. There has been talk of us buying a new centre back, please Brendan get somebody who likes the physical side of the game and whose dominant in the air. I'm fed up of watching our defenders get bullied by average players. If I was an opposing manager I'd just tell my players to knock high balls into the box because we really are hopeless when it comes to defending them. Finally I've got to comment on the referee, Lee Probert I think his name is who was absolutely awful for us. Before the second goal Sturridge was taken out on the halfway and then stamped on, how he failed to give the free kick for that was scandalous. The big guy was constantly climbing all over Skrtel and Coates but was never penalised. I know it sounds like sour grapes but I thought he murdered us. With so many PL teams going out of the cup this weekend we really have missed out on a good chance of some silverware this season.

  184. We can be critical of individual and the manager. They are paid well to put in a performance or do their homework on a team like Oldham  We are in our darkest days and we are still here.

    ReplyDelete
  185. me two at least there is one team in there division who we might beat lol

    ReplyDelete
  186. agree m8 hendo was man of match for us

    ReplyDelete
  187. My fellow Reds fan, I have been one since 1977...and an Uruguayan since 1967, by birth.

I have only 1 explanation as to why Coates is this bad... He is NOT really an Uruguayan.  NO Uruguayan defender would allow what Coates did.... they would rather get red carded then play like this.

IF the former Juventus and Uruguayan international Pablo Montero was dead...he would be turning over in his grave right now.

Jamie it is not hero worship to respect a player who gives his all in every game, even if it offends you that he would dive.  Big surprise by the way.... even ray Charles knew he dived in that Stoke game.
NOT making excuse for him..... it was stupid to do and why even talk about it.   Good thing he leaves ball boys alone.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Exactly, we pay through merchandise, tickets and paying for SKY etc. We are the customer and we are always right!!

    ReplyDelete
  189. imo you are the type of fan that thinks they are better than the rest but to be trueful your worse because it dose not matter to you much just a bit of a hobbie

    ReplyDelete
  190. Jaimie how can you say thats Rogers is not to blame ...MY GOD hes the manager gets the Plaudits if we win and the critisism if we dont ..thats part and parcel of the job ...I will tell you how he is to blame ..and my full mail im gonna write ...

    ReplyDelete
  191. You should have stressed the "24/7" part of my comment, which was an exaggeration of course - and I would have said so. You were wrong to question my loyalty to the club just because I dislike one player for his anti-sportsmanship and dishonest character.
