Confirmed line-up vs. Norwich: Midfielder dropped; BR springs defensive surprise.

Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has dropped rested regular first-team duo Martin Skrtel and Joe Allen for this afternoon's Premier League clash with Norwich City.

Whether Skrtel has actually been dropped is open to debate, but he's made quite a few mistakes this season so it wouldn't surprise me.

Allen struggled against Man United last weekend, so his omission is not really surprising.

FULL TEAM: Jones, Johnson, Agger, Carragher, Wisdom, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Downing, Suarez, Sturridge

SUBS: Gulacsi, Allen, Borini, Sterling, Shelvey, Robinson, Skrtel.

NORWICH TEAM: Bunn; R. Martin, R. Bennett, Turner, Garrido; E. Bennett, Johnson, Tettey, Snodgrass, Howson; Holt (c)

Hopefully we'll see the following formation:

----------------- Reina

Wisdom ------ Agger -- Carra ----- Johnson

----------- Lucas ------- Henderson

----------------- Gerrard

--------- Suarez --------- Downing

----------------- Sturridge

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson predicts a 2-1 for the Reds. He told the BBC:

"They [Liverpool] still haven't beaten a team in the top 10 but they don't have to worry about that on Saturday because they are at home against a Norwich team that is struggling generally at the moment.

"The Canaries stopped the rot last week, and a win would do them the world of good now too but I cannot see it happening on Saturday".

Speaking to the Chester Chronicle yesterday, Jan Molby, Lawro's former team-mate, highlighted two Norwich players Liverpool need to watch:

"Robert Snodgrass is having a good season for them and is a real threat from set-pieces. If Grant Holt plays up front he will be a real handful. We need to get back to the form we produced against the likes of Fulham, QPR and Sunderland"

Seriously, with this team, Liverpool should hopefully score 4-5 goals.

  1. Well surprise surprise! but he is due his time on the bench and it looks like Rodgers has learned his lesson ,i'm sure we will win 2-1 .

  2. Good, if thats the team, allen deserved to be dropped so many poor games he had, looking forward to see sturridge and hoping for another hat trick of suarez

    ReplyDelete
  3. 18 million and and hes supposed to be the welsh xavi   5 months later sitting on the bench out of his depth heading back to the championship rodgers needs a bottle of cop on

    ReplyDelete
  4. In fairness we played better when Lucas came off in the Man Utd Game.

I`m pretty happy with that line up. Looks nice and attacking. I`m guessing Borini will be on the bench. Which aint bad, as if Sturridge is still re-gaining match fitness Borini can replace him if he looks tired later in the game. Makes a change actually being able to swap a out and out striker, for another out and out striker.

  5. Woohoo! I see a goal for each of the front 3!

    ReplyDelete
  6. been waiting for the team news if allen was starting i was going to back 2-1 now hes not dont know think i will back 4-1

    ReplyDelete
  7. why has rogers not played assaidi yet . Why did he buy him for..

    ReplyDelete
  8. Its incredible we havent beat a top 10 team yet, thats worrying, all we could win was vs poor teams, no derby wins yet, we never had this period before under all rafa woy kenny we used to beat the big teams quite often but not now

    ReplyDelete
  9. id like to see sturridge score and borini come on and score , luis score aswell sturridge get 2

    ReplyDelete
  10. really? cant see sterling producing anything today

    ReplyDelete
  11. Only hope Allen's been dropped till he builds some muscles and that he's not just being rested until the Arsenal & Man City games!!

  14. where's the 18mil come from, he's only 21, your just like the majority of nob eds who think they know best. thanks

    ReplyDelete
  15. it was £15mill and people were comparing his pass completetion to that of xavi granted he is struggling for form atm but to suggest back to the championship is over doing it as he had a strong season with swansea in the prem

  16. im really glad hendo is given a starter. but playing carra will cost us

    ReplyDelete
  17. would have preferred to see sterling on the bench too!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think he is quality but he can't play him now as he has gone with morroco to the african cup of nations

    ReplyDelete
  19. He can still come on as a sub though!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Im reading on other sites jones is starting? is this correct?

    ReplyDelete
  21. i think sturridge will get a goal today. maybe even two

    ReplyDelete
  22. agree. Sterling has lost his way a little recently.

    ReplyDelete
  23. got that terribly wrong there and u tried to change it aswel and still got it wrong, top class reporting there

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jones not reina!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hearing Jones is starting and Pepe isn't in the squad...?

    ReplyDelete
  26. could we be playing 4-4-2? Downing on the left Henderson on the right? ummmmmm

NO one noticed Carra was starting lol.  2-1 Norwich.

    ReplyDelete
  27. we may have beaten the big teams but we always struggled with teams below us now we have reached the other side as we perform against the lower sides but fail to show up to the big games but to be fair we where bad decisions away from beating both everton and newcastle we were let down by the ref and lines man in those games

    ReplyDelete
  28. Because it seems like Allen and Lucas don't work too well together in a 4-3-3. In a 4-2-3-1 with Gerrard further up the pitch it may work, but who knows...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Jamie, @LFC confirmed that Reina wasn't even in the squad for today. Suspected thigh strain.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't mind 442, but not with Henderson on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i know but hopefully we will be cruising by then ,carraghers a bit of a worry may do 5-2 instead dont get me wrong jamies been a great servant, but i feel his time as come to move on,also no coates so it looks like he will be the next to leave

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would have preferred a front 3 of Borini Strurridge and Suarez...Sterling is not good enough(yet)to be a starter.
In midfield I would have preferred someone else beside Lucas but i guess it cant be helped...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Where is Reina?

    ReplyDelete
  34. is borini on the bench?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Reina has a thigh strain.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think he might surprise us.  He looks quite happy to drive at the opposition fullback of late and we will need his energy energy defensively if the SAS play up top.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lucas coming off wasn't the reason we played better second half. It was the fact that Sturridge came on and forced back the Utd defence ten yards. Allen was as woeful in the 2nd half as he was in the 1st

    ReplyDelete
  38. well edited, works both ways lol!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I hope Gerrard isn't played further forward he has been very good of late controlling the middle of the park.  He's a throwback to the Gerrard who 1st broke into our side at 19.  More like Keane than Lampard.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Every time Carra has pulled on the red shirt this season, he's been excellent. What's the betting he'll now score an own goal?!

    ReplyDelete
  41. jaimie am worried about the lack of width that i think we will get today johnson will not be able to get forward as much today because carragher will be over exposed on the counter i think rodgers has overtinkered, on this one if skirtels fit he should start and jaimie as sub ,thats it decided 3-1 gerrard 1st goalscorer ring the bookies now

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah mate, i agree it was the introduction of sturridge that changed us last week

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ive gone for 3 1 mate, sturridge first scorer

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anything below the victory will be quite devastating

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah I tend to agree

    ReplyDelete
  46. Maybe he,s gone to see wenger

    ReplyDelete
  47.  Wait a minute...Why the fuck is carragher playing in the place of Skrtel
now...and whats with the inclusion of downing in the squad??? I predict
a defeat of LFC tonight. There are too many freaking english players in
    the squad(7players out of 11!!!).

    ReplyDelete
  48. so have i changed my mind gerrard 1st goalscorer i,ve backed i don,t know why good luck hopefully one or both of us will be getting some cash of the bookies

    ReplyDelete
  49. thanks mate. i bet sterling will come from bench at second half and.... produce nothing =)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Abso-bl..dy-lutely!

    ReplyDelete
  51. He is.....would have preferred he started over Downing. Would love Borini and Sturridge to score today, not forgetting Luis of course......

    ReplyDelete
  52. agree m8 but we will win today its these results that have kept rodgers in a job

    ReplyDelete
  53. I agree there is potentially many goals to be had. 4-1 will be nice......

    ReplyDelete
  54. dont mind as long as wenger goes sees our bank manger first!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Am hoping he has a good tournament and makes his LFC inclusion a must.....

    ReplyDelete
  56. its a good surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  57.  Rogers has to take the blame for Allen...when is form was dipping he carried on playing him...when a player is out of form you have to take him out of the firing line and leave him out....rogers as a manager failed to recognize allen was suffering yet did nothing....now every game allen plays he will be scrutinize like hendo and downing where with kenny....when will managers learn that playing players out of form can set them back years

    ReplyDelete
  58. Carragher ? Henderson? Downing not inspiring at all but at least he benched Allen

    ReplyDelete
  59. What happened to your original team? Good rewrite...almost as if you'd never cocked it up completely to begin with...

    ReplyDelete
  60. is that directed at me ?

    ReplyDelete
  61. nope. original team posted on here had sterling, suarez and sturridge up front.

    ReplyDelete
  62. maybe reina and skrtel as well?

    ReplyDelete
  63. just goes to show earliest news isn't always most accurate, good to see hendo starting though.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow, what a goal, Hendo.

    ReplyDelete
  65. that was a scorcher from Henderson.....astonishing what happened to Reina Jaimie is he dropped or injured ?

    ReplyDelete
  66. STURRIDGE'S DUMMY WAS INSPIRED..GREAT GOAL!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Get in there hendo!! There goes my first goalscorer bet but 3 1 could still be on :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. fantastic dominance and this time with goals. Smart player that sturridge is. Hendo has played well. and Lucas has been inspiring today.

    more of the same please.

    ReplyDelete
  69. overall satisfactory 1st half. Well done hendo and luis. The DS and LS link up looks like its working very well. Nice to see some good attacking play with around 70% possession.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Cracking Goal from Hendo, Suarez is looking the part as usual. Sturridge again is having a great game, the dummy was mint. Having Sturridge seems to have made a big difference to us. Hendo is looking better and better with each game, to the point I would have him down as a starter now.

    ReplyDelete
  71. mine to i think our 3-1 gone as well if theyplay as well the second half could be 4 or 5

    ReplyDelete
  72. Reina is out with a thigh strain, although with it being transfer market time, who knows, maybe something is going on behind the scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  73. On the basis of this game there is NO SPACE FOR ALLEN.
Lucas is the best defensive midfield player we have and it shows.

    ReplyDelete
  74.  oh and i am really encouraged by the linkup play between sturridge and suarez, it has been 2 weeks now and they have better understanding than Carroll-suarez ever had.

    ReplyDelete
  75. There will be a space for Allen, he just needs to respond like others have done to a dip in form/dropping....

    ReplyDelete
  76. Norwich must love luis :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I,ll take losing out if we give them a good hiding mate, i got 4 draws up last week & won over 3 ton so i,ll still be happy :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. this is our strongest team Imo even when everyone is fit ...there may be a  case for enique in downings place but thats it.... The midfield is more balanced ...there just isnt a place for Allen...well done rogers 26m on two bench warmers

    ReplyDelete
  79. Agreed.
Hendo seem a lot different to his debut year

    ReplyDelete
  80. Downing has been doing well since xmas, 3 goals in 3 game from Sturridge, not bad son not bad :-)

    ReplyDelete
  81. Jamie am i banned from the site Arthur Blundell

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah this is my pick for strongest team too. Although I think downing has been doing well since xmas, and is earning his place in the team

    ReplyDelete
  83. 4-0, fairplay to Gerrard, I have been critical of him lately, but last few games he seems to be getting back to his old self a lot more

    ReplyDelete
  84. He wasnt my first choice for a new striker but he,s makung me well & truly eat my words up ti now :) keep it up danny :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Interesting to see at 4-0 up BR takes off the DM for another attacking player, massive fairplay to him for that, would have been so easy to take off attacking players and just ride out the last 20mins

    ReplyDelete
  86. Be nice to see Borini get a goal

    ReplyDelete
  87. No, that username is not banned. The only possibility is that you posted under a different username with the same IP address and that username got banned? Did that happen? If so, let me know the other username and I'll unban the IP.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'm pleasantly surprised! We have indeed scored 5, but it's amazing how we haven't conceded!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hit em for six lads!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90.  Not being negative but as soon as Allen comes on the attacking threat is gone.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Jamie i believe you have it right we have 2 computer,s here 1 user name arthur blundell but on my computer i can,t post

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yea i can only agree

    ReplyDelete
  93. haha edit again quick lol

    ReplyDelete
  94. i have to stand corrected. Downing played very well, even sterling was sharp from bench

    ReplyDelete
  95. might be also dueo the fact that we were leading 5 to 0. not much point in all out attacking when game is already over.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I wouldn`t say it went completely, but Allen does seem to make us less attacking. I`m not into the whole he is a bad player thing tho, I think he is a good player, just maybe not right for what we need right now.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Well I had a great night first saw Del Piero score 4 goals live and now saw Norwich get dominated from the first whistle to the last :)

This time last season we dropped off and it was all downhill from there. We seem to be picking it up a bit now which is great. Fantastic turn around after a difficult defeat to United. Really hope everyone cracks on and this sort of stuff can continue.

Happy for Hendo as I always said he had it in him, Sturridge was pretty good, so were Downing and Gerrard. We must keep going now.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Great win lads, time we got this monkey off our back & beat a team above us now

    ReplyDelete
  99. well...well was that a five star performance ? A worthy three points well done lads .

    ReplyDelete
  100. agree m8 the big tests are the next two matches hopefully we can pick up a few points and keep the momentem going

    ReplyDelete
  101. had the same thoughts me self mate !?......a win nonetheless don't feel like picking on him :)

    ReplyDelete
  102. next one against Arsenal is massive for us, we have to win if we want to keep any hope of getting into top four alive. Even then I think it would a hard push to do that. Winning though at Arsenal will be a good start

    ReplyDelete
  103. a man u victory is too much to take a draw will suffice!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I don't understand why anyone would want to make such a statement? Of course you are being negative. In the same bracket as 'I'm not being funny'; when people invariably are doing so.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Im amazed too, thats 7 clean sheets out of 9 at home apparently! The defence doesnt convince me though.

    ReplyDelete
  106. We gave up one clear headed chance in the entire match

    ReplyDelete
  107. see for me, i don`t mind them winning, we aint going to win the league this year, and i would rather they won this game and we  were then in with a better shout for fourth. As much as I may dislike Man Utd, I actually would rather they win the league than City. Man Utd for me have earn`t there place up there, City got it brought for them, and that goes against my love for football. All big clubs will spend a lot, we have, Man Utd do etc, but when it gets to the realms of spending half a bil in hardly any time, inflating players wages to sums that are so out of touch its unreal, and having your own company sponsor your stadium at a over inflated price so you can get round FFP, I would rather see a rivial win the league than a team like that, purely out of my love for the game.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Downing has been playing well since Xmas, so for me has earn`t his place in the team, just like Hendo has.

    ReplyDelete
  109. why not i thought the aim was to stick the ball in the net...im sick of people making excuses for allen ...he came on against a team we where crushing and was crap....this is liverpool you need to able to do more than pass it sideways 5 yards ....at least everyone can see what ive been saying since we signed him that hendo is far better than allen...hes faster bigger fitter with more tools in his locker....

    ReplyDelete
  110. well ill be negative Allen is crap.......its plain for  everyone to see that hes not up to scratch

    ReplyDelete
  111. At the last count (and I'm open to being corrected here) it was £903m in, what is it now, 4 years?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Sack Rodgers now! we should have scored 10!

    ReplyDelete
  113. you maybe right, i wasn`t sure of the actual figure so went low lol. I appreciate techincally almost all teams buy the title, but normally that comes from doing well over a number of years, sometimes decades to build up your commercial side, stadium size, fanbase etc and prize money to give you more to spend. I am no fan of the massive influxes of money into clubs who are playing a bit part in many other clubs trying to keep up, and risking going bust.

    ReplyDelete
  114. And you my friend are perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Its plain for everyone. You mean 'you' but you thought you'd give your argument some weight by inventing some. You were probably on Henderson's case before but now the sun shines out of his backside.

    ReplyDelete
  116. By 'everyone', I'll take it that you mean 'you.'

    ReplyDelete
  117. Try again now and let me know if you can post. Cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  118.  no but im pretty good at the job im employed to do..Allen isnt...whats the point of saying hes good when hes not?...

    ReplyDelete
  119. why do you think hes good....make you mind up ..is he good bad or average

    ReplyDelete
  120. i do not think hes been on the pitch when we have scored against norwich, sunderland and fulham that must tell rodgers something

    ReplyDelete
  121. aye. skipper didnt put a foot wrong today. i hope he continues to perform this level, crucial games coming with arsenal and city.

    ReplyDelete
  122.  dont get carried away this is norwich ....we should be able to beat these with the tea lady in charge....

    ReplyDelete
  123. i have to agree with latter part. henderson is more versatile player than allen. He has developed since last season.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Very well said and I totally agree. I can't stand united but they have done things properly as we did (far better than us in fact) and fair play to them. City and Chelsea however..........

    ReplyDelete
  125. i dont care about other teams results.......its ours that matter

    ReplyDelete
  126.  if he keeps allen off the pitch jase we have a great chance

    ReplyDelete
  127. sorry m8 but i agree with gilstrap complete waste of money as i,ve already said last 3 home games 12 goals not one when allens been on the pitch

    ReplyDelete
  128. need to push on now ,not sure about man ure winning ,its more than i can take draw

    ReplyDelete
  129. Villa winning 2-0 against west brom, which is great for us. Lets hope villa can keep that score line till the end of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Gilstrap, due to the fact we are lower down, other teams results do matter, and if we are to have any chance of getting into the top four, we need them to lose, otherwise it wouldn`t matter if we won all our games, they would all still be ahead of us.

    ReplyDelete
  131. we won 5-0, you can`t do much more than that, you can only play the team in front of you, and we did, and we played very well, and won.

    ReplyDelete
  132. interesting if that is the case. Although I still don`t think he is a bad player, just maybe we play better without him. We must remember when Lucas was out, he filled that role well, so has his uses

    ReplyDelete
  133. have you been reading the football bumper book of anicdotes

    ReplyDelete
  134. Would have to disagree with you on that one mate, i loved it when city snatched it last year, all the stuff was already being manufactured celebrating man ures title win & it all went down the swanee, we all know cityy have bought success but id prefer them to win it again than taggerts lot, theyve already topprd us in titlrs now, i dont want them winning anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Is right mate, can never hope for a manc win

    ReplyDelete
  136. Our worse result of the season imo was losing to villa, they are absolute pony

    ReplyDelete
  137. I guess it is very much a case of horses for courses, and everyone prefers someone different to win it for there own reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Now that was fun to watch.  That second goal was just artwork.  I'm wondering if Sturridge knew to let it roll or whether Gerrard yelled for him to leave it...anybody know for sure?  That's the way to score...4 different guys: both strikers, the AM and Gerrard and one of theirs.  If there's no own goal it's either in or Downing nods it in. Couldn't ask for more in this game...keep going guys.

    ReplyDelete
  139. if it means we got fourth this year (in the grand scheme of things) then I would hope they did win, us getting fourth, would mean so much, not just money wise, but also in terms of what players we could get in. This could then push us on to challenge Man Utd in the seasons after.

    ReplyDelete
  140. No, but winning 5-0 is a good thing, and in no way will I put the team down after, or for winning 5-0

    ReplyDelete
  141. we played better cuz he brought sturidge on , whos to say if he keep Lucas on , took allen of and brought sturidge we wouldnt have taken something from the game ...

    ReplyDelete
  142. why imo he cannot tackle either sorry but i think allen will not make it at anfield never will he will get plenty of chances under rodgers but at the cost of the rest of the side

    ReplyDelete
  143. yea that was a bad game, so was the first game of the season against West-Brom. Prob our two worst games, which is kinda funny as I just posted the score from theres lol. The Arsenal game was prob our third worst.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I understand your logic mate but i was breastfed to hate mancs, lol

    ReplyDelete
  145. Fair enough, i just take exception to people using psycho babble to back up an argument.

In terms of a player i try to think of their position and how criticism can weigh on them (not that i think he is reading gilstrap).

    ReplyDelete
  146. I think, and might be wrong, that Suarez shouted at him to leave it.

The Own Goal, was prob going in, so should be Sterlings, and it was Borini I think at the back post, who would have slotted it in of not. Was nice to have goals from different players like you said. That has been our biggest lack this season. When you look at the players who have scored for us before today it was Suarez on 19, next up was Gerrard on 5, then Shelvey on 5, then Sahin on 3, then a few on 2, and some on 1. Suarez has been doing well, but the rest have lacked in goals massively. No threat from anyone other than Suarez. Made us easy to play against. Now we have Sturridge, that seems to have changed a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  147. i really hope BR learns from Today match , Had he played the same team last week ( minus Carra for Skrytl ) we could have honestly beaten ManUre ....                                                                                        BRs main mistake was BUYING ALLEN and NOT Sturidge in pre season ...we coulda got Sturidge but BR only want a LOAN and not a perma move ... BIG MISTAKE as he is seeing now ...                           who know where we would have been if Sturidge was in from the beginning of the season and Allen neva came ...                               Anyways EVERY1 knows im one of his biggest critics BUT this week he did 2 things right by me , that i must in all fairness give him credit for          1) he commented in the media against his Puppet Masters that we REALLY DO NEED EXPERIANCED PLAYERS and                                       2) he played Hendo in place of Allen ..... Look at the differance to the Liverpool team Hendo made , pressing , pressing , toke the attack to Norwich , accurate passing , assiting Lucas , creating space for Gerrard ( In Fact Hendo makes Gerrard a better player IMO and Allen makes him Worse IMO )

now BR PLEASE PLEASE if you want my support keep allen on the Bench , keep playing hendo as he is proforming and not mess with his confidance by benching him jUST soo u can justify your 15 Mill EFF UP ( as long as we winning we dont care )                                                                       Bench sterling and Shelvey and bring them on when the opp is getting tierd ..this will improve their games and give them confidance ...AND BUY 1 really experiance Creative mid or a wing wizard to assist Saurez and Sturidge  ....If you do this TOP 4 is very possible IMO

If you Start Allen against Arsnel or Man City ...U will feel my wrath ( poision pen LOL )

    ReplyDelete
  148. i just hope BR keeps learning his leason and KEEPS ALLEN ON BENCH DUTY and not suddenly get over confident against ARSNEL and put Allen back on

    ReplyDelete
  149. I think you're right about Sturridge and unless one of them needs a rest because PL, FA, UEFA games in quick succession, then I expect them to play together every game from here on out.  I can see Sterling's confidence growing...which will also be a big help because he is very dangerous with the ball.  He just needs the confidence to finish. Lucas holding and Gerrard playing up makes another shooter that must be accounted for...which gives the strikers more opportunities and space. And I think Gerrard trusts Lucas to do his job correctly.  Henderson's goal was a great strike...but I'm still suspicious of him.  He works hard, but he doesn't think quickly or move quickly and is prone to making horrible passes when the pressure is on.

    ReplyDelete
  150. i agree whats to say if allen didnt go off instead of Lucas and sturidge came on we wouldnt have won

    ReplyDelete
  151. i really pray he learns ... if he starts going backwards AGAIN after this he will loose even more support

    ReplyDelete
  152. he had an assist .... and a half decent game ... he hasnt been bad the last few games

    ReplyDelete
  153. hahahahahahahahahaha seriously BR must shoulder the blame not allen ... allens out of his depth but BR wasted 15 mill on him ...and BR didnot even have Camolli lol

    ReplyDelete
  154. Lucas and Hendo BOSSed the Mid thats why ....

    ReplyDelete
  155. Assidi is aTOP NOTCH winger from wat ive seen ...hes got pace and takes on defenders ...Dont laugh but in the very FEW games that BR has actually played him he looks like avery young raw Christino Ronaldo ......I just have this feeling KK must have signed him last year for this year cuz BR just treats him the same as Coates < time BR gets his head out of his #^6 and do wats BEST for the TEAM and NOT HIS EGO

    ReplyDelete
  156. the next two MATCHES is the BIG TEST for BR ( By the way Jaime you should give me points for resisting Calling him BrenDOOM ) against arsnel and man city we MUST pick up MINIMUM 4 points or its back to square 1 .... a victory against asnel and a draw with Man city

    ReplyDelete
  157. pls i pray that as well .... Allen could be BRs downfall just as how Carrol was KING KENNY ...Carrol that ponytailed ponce ...

    ReplyDelete
  158. absolute Class this boy is remainding me of a rather young Stevy G

    ReplyDelete
  159. OMW hope not as it will be a Classic BR 1 step foward and 2 steps back as we need a top notch keeper and if he lets pepe go WITHOUT replacing him ( like the Carrol saga ) he WILL get sacked at the end of the season

    ReplyDelete
  160. and they say we have a weak squard ....its not te right played squard ...play the right team IMO and you will get results like this 9times out of 10

    ReplyDelete
  161. I really dont care AS LONG he doesnt feel forced to play those bench warmers at the team expense to justify the 26 mill he wasted .....

    ReplyDelete
  162. sorry right now the only time theres space for Allen is when we winning minimum 4 nil and in the 80th minute ....not a minute before ...

    ReplyDelete
  163. its the Lucas , Hendo combo that improves him ....hes terrible when allen is on cuz Stevey G dont trust Allen as D Mid ...go check ....

    ReplyDelete
  164. im 100 % on your page .... spot on

    ReplyDelete
  165. wat was MORE SCARY was that BR wanted to get RID of hendo pre season ...can u imagine

    ReplyDelete
  168. agree as should fsg for hiring him

    ReplyDelete
  169. please can u justify your faith in him ...and if u say cuz BR does it doesnot count

    ReplyDelete
  170. and just for the record i had faith in both Lucas and hendo from the moment they were signed 1) becuase of their pedigree and potential and 2) because i had faith in who signed them as very knowledgable

    ReplyDelete
  171. the win means nothing if he accomodates allen next game and we get beat.... thats the differance between me and you zanatos why be happy with 5 when it could have been 8 thats the diffence between good and great managers amd avrage and great clubs

    ReplyDelete
  172. if hes crap hes crap ...if he reads it and has a winners mentality he will get off his ass and do sumpting about it ...Lucas and hendo had enough grief and look at them now

    ReplyDelete
  173. chelsea beating arsnel and Spurs drawing with manure and its gonna be a prefect weekend and god know we dont get many of those ...srry but the tought of manUre getting 20 gives me nightmares

    ReplyDelete

  175. each to there own thats why were on here to try and put our opinions over not everybody agrees with each other(thank god otherwise it would be boring)and to be fair gilstrap normally sends his post with a touch of humour

  176. Oh man! DS is the man for LFC! BR is getting himself right, finally, in the transfer market. Looks like JH is coming good, great for the club and player. Let's hope with that same lineup, we can achieve some positive results against Arsenal and Man City, both away. By then, we can position ourselves positively in the fight for 4th spot. It's a do-or-die mission for LFC!

  177. hate to see ManUre winning 20 bUT if i had to choose between ManURE getting 20 with us getting TOP 4 i will take it ....Bottom Line WE NEED TOP 4 really Badly for us to be able to get a better balance of talent

    ReplyDelete
  178. maybe its a bit early but it kinda looks like a King Kenny Rush coombo IMO

    ReplyDelete
  179. That's all down to experience though. The most important thing at the moment for him is to prove he has the ability, to prove he should be in the team. whenever he is confident he shows great ability and his drive and work rate is top class. But he hasnt made it yet.

  180. cheers jamie.

    ReplyDelete
  181. cheers Jamie

    ReplyDelete
  182. Happy to oblige mate :))))

    ReplyDelete
  183. Good post mate, man ure may be top of the league but i think they were there for the taking last week, especially without grab a granny in their team, shame we werent more positive from the start

    ReplyDelete
  184. Hope you're right.  I think Downing had another good game so maybe he's finding a groove too.

    ReplyDelete
  185. In full agreement here. Lucas and Hendo not only work so hard, they do the pressing without getting pressed themselves. Allen is prone to getting pressed.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Normally, winning 20 games a season is enough to secure Champions League football. That is 20 out of 38, which is only slightly over half. It would certainly be a better strategy to be able to beat 10-11 teams very comfortably and attempt to do it twice each. That is in fact the backbone of Chelsea and Man U's success in the last decade. Smaller teams are pretty much guaranteed wins for them, unlike ourselves and Arsenal who always come undone to bottom and mid-table clubs.

    ReplyDelete
  187. The other way around is more likely though. Shitteh is easier for us to draw with or even beat than Arsenal. We always struggle against Arsenal and Spurs.

    ReplyDelete
  188. An assist from Downing and a clean sheet should be vindication enough for the decisions!

    ReplyDelete
  189. I would definitely start Hendo without fail in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. He has some serious pace and skill and is like an upgraded Dirk Kuyt played in central midfield.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Yep, we owe west brom a good stuffing, that was another awful defeat

    ReplyDelete
  191. So beating Norwich 5-2 away from home with Allen in the team is accommodating him?

Just like Henderson last season who was ripped apart for being an overpriced British flop and in the end just needed time to settle.

Now Henderson is the best thing walking after being told that he is utterly useless?

Egg in the face to those who did not give Henderson a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I've not seen the game yet, but from the highlights it looked like we had finally started pressing the opposition consistently again.

It was great to see Gerrard and Henderson smashing in long range efforts also, as those have been lacking from our team for awhile.I saw Downing's assist and all I can say is that hopefully that attracts a prospective buyer to put in a bid for him. We can, and must do a lot better than him in our front 3 - Suarez and Sturridge are both quality players with something to contribute. If either of them are below par on any given day though, we need another option of a similar standard to pick up the slack for them. Downing is just never going to be that guy. Get rid and replace him asap.

    ReplyDelete
  193. not me red ive always rated henderson ...check my posts..the thing with allen is he lacks two things pace and size which no matter how hard he trains he wont have....im not being harsh i just see better options ...allen is a very specific player for a very specific role ........i hope it works out and he proves me wrong but hes not bigge enough to play he defensive role or skillful or fast enough to play an attacking role

    ReplyDelete
  194. Great results.

Due to the correct team selection. Hendo brought more stability to the midfield and i must say categorically :

Dropping Skrtel and Reina is the best thing for Liverpool !

Just look at the stability in defence and the sureness of the backline when Skrtel is not there. He is always out of position and Carragher's positional awareness makes him a far superior defender. Just look at how successful LFC defence has been through the years when Carra was in central defence.

Reina needs to be dropped till he finds form again. He is an absolute calamity in goal and the whole team is left dumbstruck by how easily the opposition gets goals against us. He cannot seem to hold onto his gloves let alone the ball.

Jones brought a certainty to the backline and the team was better of for it!

On the whole, great result, but bring back the disasters that are Reina and Skrtel and LFC will wallow in Mid-Table fodder...
