'You never know' - €13m goal-machine responds to LFC transfer rumours...

Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis is in fine goalscoring form this season, and several clubs - including Liverpool - are interested in signing him in January. Alas, it seems like the 27-year old is determined to stay in France until the end of the season.

When asked on RTL Radio last night about speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool or Spurs, Gomis insisted he was not 'polluting' his mind with thoughts of leaving, but added:

"You never know what can happen in football, we all realise that there are players who can be bought, but I want to finish the season here. After that it is true that there are championships that I like, where I would like to evolve"

The Reds have reportedly scouted Gomis recently with a view to negotiating a January deal, and a recent report in the Daily Mail stated:

"Spurs and Liverpool have stepped up their hunt for Bafetimbi Gomis after the player's representatives flew to London for a meeting last week. His representatives saw both Spurs and Liverpool [Reps]"

Gomis - nicknamed the 'Baby Drogba' - grabbed a hat-trick against Marseille in November, and last season, he scored a stunning 7-minute hat-trick in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb, the fastest treble ever recorded in the competition.

The 27-year was on the scoresheet yet again last weekend, banging-in the winning goal against Montpelier, a victory that put Lyon 5 points ahead of PSG at the top of the league table.

Gomis - who is second only to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Ligue One goalscoring charts - cost Lyon €13m in 2009, and his current contract expires in 2014, which puts him in a strong bargaining position, especially as he's integral to Lyon's success.
