Benfica raid? LFC eye cheap deal for €18m star who equalled Eusebio's record...

In May, Oscar Font, the Agent of Manuel Agudo Durán - aka Nolito - confirmed that Liverpool were 'interested' in signing the former Barcelona midfielder. Speculation resurfaced in October, with the Portuguese press linking the striker with a January move to Anfield. Now, with less than a month until the transfer window opens, it looks like Liverpool could be about to reignite their interest in the 25-year old attacker.

According to the Daily Express, Liverpool are planning a January move for the €18m-rated Spanish midfielder, who grabbed 15 goals for Benfica last season. The report states:

"Liverpool hope to revive Nolito’s flagging career at Benfica by bringing him to Anfield in January".

Nolito is struggling at Benfica right now, and with just one start all season, now could be the right time to launch a transfer move.

It's massive all from grace for Nolito - at one point, the winger scored in five consecutive games for Benfica, equalling the record held by Portuguese legend Eusebio.

Nolito is contracted to Benfica until 2016, and he reportedly has a €39m buyout clause in his contract, which probably rules Liverpool out of a January deal.

Loan deal, perhaps?

  1. I don't think he is that good to be honest. Would rather us sign Rodrigo. Excellent young player with an eye for goal. Don't think that could happen though.

  2. Us linking with midfielders all year long is a joke. Dont know where these journalists come up with these rubbish stories.

  6. We need strikers. With Lucas back we have ample cover in MF.

  7. Do you ever make sense ? Buy-out clause simply means that a player can not leave if club is unwilling to sell for the lower price, and they would rather sell then to loan him out.

Liverpool is probably unable to afford big money signings, and by big I mean not so big money signings.
Best the club can get is maybe 7 mil. player and/or a loan deal or 2, but I doubt Benfica would send him to PL on loan, as he, most likely, would not impress. It would be his first taste of PL football.
