West Ham vs. LFC: Predicted Liverpool line-up

With Luis Suarez missing against West Ham this afternoon, Brendan Rodgers is forced to shuffle the team around a little. Who should start the game in his place, and what team will the Rodgers put out?

Based on Jonjo Shelvey's comments yesterday, it seems likely that he'll play upfront. He said:

"I am excited about it. I supported West Ham as a boy but it is not easy to fill the boots of a player like Luis Suarez.

"I will just give it my best shot. I played against Young Boys in that role and I did all right. It is the same in any successful team. The goals have got to come from all over"

Jordan Henderson will probably also get the nod after good performance midweek. Plus, West Ham are a physical side, and Henderson's energy and stamina means he has a greater chance of making the team.

I think Rodgers will go for the following team:

--------------- Reina

Johnson ---- Agger --- Skrtel --- Enrique

---------------- Lucas

---------- Allen ----- Henderson

Gerrard --------------------- Sterling

--------------- Shelvey

I don't see the sense in playing a central midfielder as a striker, especially when there are several young strikers desperate for a chance to make their mark for the Reds. I would prefer to see this team:

--------------- Reina

Wisdom ---- Agger --- Skrtel --- Johnson

---------------- Lucas

--------- Allen ----- Shelvey

Gerrard --------------------- Enrique

--------------- Morgan/Yesil

  1. yesss i agree with the team that that jk has said we seem so much stronger in the attacking 3rd but personally just cant c that happening i see rodgers going for a cautious line up but hopefully if thing are not going well we can have morgan and yesil on the bench just in case theres a need for a re-shuffle or we need a goal in the last 15-20 mins

  2. They need to play a young striker as it would continue to build belief in the youth ranks that their opportunity will come. If not they will begin to lose faith and believe their futures lay elsewhere

  3. I don't see or want to see Morgan or Yesil starting against West Ham as neither of them has looked ready for first team role, but on the other hand i would like to see Ngoo or Pacheco getting a chance.

  4. would have Sterling playing, and not the type of game to be playing Morgan or Yesil upfront on their own. reina> wisdom>agger>skrtel>johnson> lucas>allen>gerrard >sterling>enruque> shelvey

  5. Shelvy in Europe has been more clinical than Pacheco and Yesil and i rather Assaidi on the wing than Gerrard

  6. Sterling or Shelvey through the middle for me. I'm not a massive fan of Sterling on the wing and can kinda see why Kenny didn't start him there. From what I've seen, he's such a cautious lad for one so young and struggles to go by his man consistently. His main strengths from my view point is his pace and ability to get into goalscoring positions. 1+1=..............

  9. How Sterling has picked up an England cap I will never know. If he were playing for someone else based on the performances he has put in this season I wouldn't sign him, and certainly wouldn't cap him. Macca, Rooney, Owen and Lennon were streets ahead of Sterling at 17 but they deserved the hype they received.
