'He must commit' - Boss demands that £15m LFC target signs new deal ASAP...

The Theo Walcott transfer saga rumbles on (!) Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger appears to be growing tired of trying to convince the 23-year old to sign a new deal, and in a press conference this week, he delivered a veiled warning to Walcott, and urged him to show commitment to his club.

Speaking to reporters this week, Wenger hinted that his patience is wearing thin. He said:

“He has to commit, and as long as you do not do that, you are not completely at ease.

"It is important for our squad as well that he [Walcott] is completely committed. At some stage it has to be concrete.”

Despite the contract stand-off, Wenger seems certain that Walcott will not leave in January:

"Will he [Walcott] stay until the end of the season? Yes. We continue [with contract talks] in a positive way. We have until the end of December to sort it out."

Wenger's comments suggest that a January deal for £15m-rated Walcott is dead in the water, but he also states that he has 'until the end of December' to sort it out. What happens if the situation is not resolved by then? Surely, Wenger's hand will then be forced, and he'll have to consider selling in January?

Walcott's existing contract runs out next summer, and Rodgers has already contacted Arsenal about the possibility of a deal, but is yet to hear anything back from the the London club, who are allegedly 'willing to enter negotiations with both Liverpool and City'.

  1. I have lost all hope this season. Sign anyone or don't, owners, manager and players are unambitious. Only graceful thing left about LFC is fans who still harbor greatest of ambitions. I wish BR is sacked if LFC don't qualify for Europa but it will be difficult to attract any better manager, maybe Rafa, I don't know as it might be same old no transfer money saga. Again, I am tired of this transitional period which is quiet frankly an excuse to hide poor results. Initially, I believed it and trusted BR but now I feel we are being fooled by already deluded manager and very smart ass owners. They have no money at all, they are selling Red Sox and I hope they sell LFC too. We need proper funding in at least 3 summer transfer window every year to have a proper world class league winning team, which can be termed as transitional and not the current period which should be called Leeds Utd way.

Anyway, now I can seriously prepare for my CFA exams and go away from LFC for a while. Ta-da..!!

  2. can we swop Allen for Walcott

  3. This is passion that could only come from a true fan owners definately to who wouldnt allow rodgers to bring in a striker far too many draws and we look frail at the back we need lucas back to his best asap

    ReplyDelete
  4. Can we swap any of the following players, Downing, Henderson, Shelvey or even all 3, but please dont spend £15 million on him as that would be ludicrous..

    ReplyDelete
  5. We did have proper funding except Dalglish wasted it on average players. Over £100m wasted, could you imagine the players that could have been bought? I think we need to give Rodgers time, he is an ambitious manager and it is far too early to be calling for his head.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I really don't understand how you see him as ambitious maanager if he is constantly praising team when they are under performing and also when he is happy/content when we fail to win. If that is ambitious then we have surely fallen way too low that a win against Wigan means world to us fans nowadays.

  7. in your dreams job dodgers

    ReplyDelete
  8. why does he need time? Clarke has walked into WBA and turned them into a great little side with seemingly inferior players

    ReplyDelete
  9. i do agree completely on the wasted money though and can only imagine the quality we could have bought.

  10. I just don't want to have a 5th manager in the space 3 years. Rodgers is playing a lot of young players and I believe he should be given the time to nurture them into a competitive squad

    ReplyDelete
  11. I actually like Shelvey and have been very impressed by him this season

    ReplyDelete
  12. It is very frustrating when you think about it

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think the fact people are impressed with him tells us a lot about where we are as a team as in years gone by he wouldnt get anywhere near the first team, i respect everyone has their own opinion on these things but in my personal opinion he is average at best on a very good day or against mediocre opposition

    ReplyDelete
  14. I understand where your coming from with the manager's in 3 years comment but i would happily have a 5th as long as he was the right guy

  15. Thats why i try not to lol

  16. The state of LFC and how far we have fallen was laid open for all to see today. If anyone thinks Brendan has improved Liverpool, then they are simply blinded by cheap talk from the man himself and media talk. Every time I see and hear Brendan speak, it is cringy and makes me embarrassed. He's trying to suck up to too many people and that is how he got the LFC job in the first place. Today was awful as it has been. It simply isn't good enough.

Not only that but we then have to watch one of our greatest ever managers, Rafa Benitez, in one of our most severest enemies dugouts simply because we made awful decisions in the past to get rid off him and then, crucially, not to re-hire him. It was awful listening to Rafa being humiliated by Chelsea fans. He deserves better than that. I have never been more angry with Gillett, Hicks, Broughton, Purslow, Ayres, Henry and Werner than I have been today. All of them have let the club and fans down.

  17. We can only blame King Kenny for the situation we are in now,he wasted £100 million plus on rubbish, why doesnt Rodgers get Carrol back in January if he cannot afford a decent striker.
The answer is Rodgers is to wrapped up in his philosophy of making Liverpool a top 4 team, well MR Rodgers I have a philosophy for you,why dont you try having a Plan B philosophy, your Tiki Taka football style aint working and you are dragging us down the pan with you.
Get Carrol back and give yourself that plan B option, your passing game isnt winning games.
Try the long ball philosophy(plan b) and give our big Andy a chance.

  18. and rodgers has had 30 million plus and completly destroyed the team times up worst manager in living memory and believe me i am old

    ReplyDelete
  19. you say we can only blame kk well there you go go ,givig rodgers another excuse . i would rather kk be in charge now bet we would be higher in the league, also he wasted 100 million byt you want his biggest transfer back give your head a shake lol

  20. can we swop allen for fosters anyone will do

    ReplyDelete
  21. Have Benitez back anytime once most feared team in Europe now going to struggle to Finnish in top ten. He did really well with average team

    ReplyDelete
  22. agree but hes better than allen ,assidi, and that itie rodgers revolution my a£$

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jason Carr....paraphrasing Didi Hamann, please name a team that spent over 90 million & none of the players have had a significant impact?
This will take several seasons to undo, this is no excuse but reality! We are where we are because of an influx of mediocrity.

How about Arsenal? season on season they have cashed in on their top players why is it they are able to maintain their top 4 status? IMO our scouting is woefully underwhelming.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Rodgers is a mid table manager, with mid table mentality, fsg sack this guy now, diego simone will do a wonderful job at lfc

    ReplyDelete
  25. Amazed at the negativity on here! Rodgers worst coach in living memory? Hodgson? This guy will make us top 4 again and the footy is good to watch again. He's brought through wisdom, sterling, suso and shelvey and believe will buy us further god quality when supported in the transfer market.

Be patient and your patience will be rewarded.

As for Walcott, is he the answer? If Suarez can play as well wide right or left with Walcott in the middle then has to be worthy of consideration.......

    ReplyDelete
  26. agree but the fact is rodgers has had 30 plus million and still put the team backwards no ifs no buts .... and kk would have persuaded players to come to the club because of his standing in the game were as rodgers just buys players who have played for him before who are crap?you can only make excuses for so long and they are getting thin now.he [rodgers]still tried to make out we were good today progressing well i for one think he talks shit3 you carry on believing in the tikka takka with allen as a world class player and i will carry on in the real world

    ReplyDelete
  27. What are your excuses for KD's abject failure ? I'd really like to know

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jason..you refer to KK's standing in the game, the same standing that wrecked Newcastle & sent them back years. Remember Keagan's team he left the one that ran Man U so close & see what KK did. The only standing KK had was back in the 90s only true die hard fans like Craig Bellamy will ever think of coming to LFC, KK's fame was NOT worldwide (don't confuse LFC as a worldwide brand) only restricted to the UK. So I disagree with your assumption that KK would have persuaded players to come!
As for BR's transfer, Allen bash all you like but until we see him play as an attacking midfielder (when Lucas returns to full fitness) then we can judge him. He's trying to do a job & is not the sole reason for where LFC reside, if anything Gerrard could do alot more!

As for Borini, injuries cannot allow for accurate judgment, but considering how much we spent on him, even if he didn't work out the damage to LFC is infinitely less. Lets hope he gets fit so we can really scrutinise his quality.

As for BR as a manager, what makes him already head & shoulders above KK's last tenure was that he's considering global talent not just UK. That to me is a massive step in the right direction. As I've said time & time again KK's demise was purely based on misguided xenophobia. Added to the fact that BR has been endorsed by undoubtedly one of the top club managers in Mourinho. BR needs to be backed in atleast two transfer markets before we can really assess his quality!

  29. another disappointing transfer window, expect nothing from the owners. even though they should make amends for the summer.
crap team selection today by the way, I don't care if we have a squad of 15, downing, cole, and maybe Henderson need to go

    ReplyDelete
  30. Henderson needs to be first out the door

    ReplyDelete
  31. The footy is good to watch i agree, but only when we are losing as then we play attacking fast football, if we are not losing its like watching paint dry, its just side to side and backwards most of the time, there were times today i thought a few of our players were going to fall to sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  32. All you Rodgers bashers need to calm down and give the man a chance,he is doing the best he can with the resources he has and bringing through some good young players is the way forward. This team just needs some proper striker like Cavani and a good left wing back and we will be far better. The owners need to invest some money in this transfer window to state there intent because till now they have spent hardly any on players considering the money we have made from selling players

    ReplyDelete
  33. Great solution sack Rodgers then sack the guy after him too. Instability has been proven to be a key to success, especially when the club does not have $100m available for transfers. But seriously we might have to Arsenal it for a few years, the only thing worse than impatient owners is impatient fans

    ReplyDelete
  34. yeah well, u might like to know that it was the great Hodgson that has built Westbrom last year so the credit is not just to Clarke. Also , Westbrom will not sustain this and will finish below us at the end of the year. They are basically the Aston villa of a few years ago, playing well but never gracing Europe.

    ReplyDelete
  35. compare that 30 mil "wasted" on allen and borini, to the 100 on Carrol, adam, henderson, downing. outside of henderson, the rest are utter failures. Allen and Borini have not even been here for a year.

    ReplyDelete
  36. stop blaming BR, give him a chance and as for all the liverpool fans moaning about getting wallcott just look at the player he has become in the last 2 years and with his best years ahead of him just imagine and its not like you can be picky, wallcott will stroll into your first team, actually any of arsenals sub can play 1st at liverpool, and thats saying something

    ReplyDelete
  37. rameys/allen, arshavin/downing, chamak/borrini, oxlade/sterling, coqualin/shelvy, diaby/henderson, jenkinson/glen johnson. U PICK WHOS BETTER arsenal bench or liverpool starters

    ReplyDelete
  38. in truth only suarez and enrique would make the arsenal first team

    ReplyDelete
  39. Is Walcott worth 15mil?
Rodgers has confirmed that there will be no big signings this Jan. FSG apparently want to balance the books. What a whole load of bollocks. If there are no new signings forthcoming in Jan.
Out with FSG. Enough of these Yanks.
Buck Rodgers better buck up and stop giving excuses for under performing players. It was a no brainer how the game will turnout when the team sheet was released. Woeful performance.

  40. Get real mate, the owners have been good for LFC and they don't deserve the kind of vile nonsense you come out with. They've brought unprecedented sponsorship deals, they're moving along the stadium plans and they invested millions in players. They can't help it that Dalglish wasted all the cash he was given.

    ReplyDelete
  41. kds failure 1 won carling cup 2 fa cup finalists 3last xmas we were 5th or 6th in league before losing suarez also lucas injured .rodgers as replaced lucas with allen 15 million and also had suarez .when we lost suarez last season the club went into turmoil so we lost out on competing for champions league imo, like i say rodgers as had another 3o million and just imagine where we would be now if rodgers had lost suarez for 8 matches .it does not bear thinking about

    ReplyDelete
  42. any body who knows anything about football knows the name of king kenny one of the greatest players of all time as voted for in 4 4 2 magazine which is european magazine why did torres join lfc if were not a worldwide brand ,and why do we have people from all over the world posting on this site if were not a global brand

    ReplyDelete
  43. there 3 wins and a draw in front of us and how many wins we had in league this season lol

    ReplyDelete
  44. I remember the old saying 'be careful what you wish for'
I admit i was not one of RB's greatest admirers. I believe his negativity cost us the premiership and the way he hoovered up players was too dangerous to our finances, ie Voronin, Degem, Keane etc BUT we would not be in this weak position now if he had stayed

    ReplyDelete
  45. check fsgs net spend on players its hardley playing with the big boys under fsg we will continue to be also rans the best players will leave soon and be replaced by lesser players leaving us filling there pockets while in midtable no mans land

    ReplyDelete
  46. With the consequences of relegation? I think not. what's the point of having a new stadium and be in
    the championship? Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  47. cavani your having a joke yes,fsg have said they need to do some more balancing of the books, why dont they just admit there hear to bleed the club dry said it at the begining of the season saying it now we will be going nowhere under fsg at least it will free up thursday nights for next season lol

    ReplyDelete
  48. The club is not buying much in January because there is not much in the way of funds i fear the likes of Walcott can be forgotten no dough.
I am also a little concerned that unless Carroll and Downing are sold for decent money the funds wont be there in the summer either.

    ReplyDelete
  49. l Lucas does'n't know how to position himself to make a tackle! Running alongside an attacking player and making a lunge with your closest foot to the other player is suisidal! It does'n't supprise me that he was injured so badly!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Clarke should have stayed 'as manager'.

    ReplyDelete
  51. they look a much better side under clarke, and the great hodgson? oh dear

    ReplyDelete
  52. outside of Henderson? are you seriously suggesting he has been a success? if you are then you really need to stop watching footy and maybe watch golf or something as u no nothing about footy so u may aswel stop wasting ur time

    ReplyDelete
  53. i don't understand Liverpool though am a big fan. They spend most of the time talking and talking about the players which they want to buy.Why cant they do the deals quickly rather than leave it till last minute.Clever teams like Man u,city Chelsea and Arsenal they are very quick to act in the transfers market.Other teams will end up taking players liverpool are targeting because they are very very slow i have to say

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why is that funny. If the owners are serious they could at least try and sign someone like Cavani who with some convincing from Suarez might be interested,I admit its a long shot but I just cant bare the thought of our new striker being someone like Sturridge. If they want to balance the books they could start by selling Carroll,Henderson and Downing because they are useless.
As for your statement that you would prepare Kenny in charge. Are you having a laugh he threw away our chance of making vast improvements in the squad was so annoying and arrogant in his interviews. He will always be a legend for everything he has done for us but he was shocking this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  55. due to allen steve g's performance also have become dull..he doesn't know whether to leave him back alone n go forward or stay back where he will take ball n square it or simply play back to defenders.
and now manager saying have to balance the bills means clearly they won't be able to bring much quality player in January even.

    ReplyDelete
  56. garbage he wasted £35m net and got suarez, henrique and I still have hopes for Henderson, so hardly a waste

    ReplyDelete
  57. spot on. the guy does not actually read what he writes

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh for goodness sake stop this Dalglish witch-hunt
    Call yourself a liverpool supporter.
You should be ashamed of yourself

    ReplyDelete
  59. what rubbish.are you aware of shirt sales world wide despite our weaknesses

    ReplyDelete
  60. Do we really want Walcott or are we all just caught up in the fact that he seems to be the most realistic target given his contract status and the fact that he is/was a Liverpool fan?

If he comes to us it won't be for CL, so that leaves me thinking he'll come to us expecting to be played as a striker - This seems to be why he is stalling on his contract at Arsenal.

Is Walcott really going to be better than Suarez as our main striker? I know who I'd rather have playing through the middle of our attack.

If Suarez is moved out to either wing will he still score as consistently? Maybe he will. Will Walcott score more than he is at the moment for Arsenal if he's the main striker? I don't know about that, maybe, maybe not.

The thing that worries me about signing Walcott is that we will essentially be buying either an untested striker (he hasn't played this position regularly) or a winger/wide attacking player who is unhappy at not being the main striker.

If we even have £15m to spend on player, I'd rather it was a real striker and not a wanabe.

  63. We cn learn a thing or two from the Club that has overtaken us in terms of trophies. CONSISTENCY. SAF took 7 yrs to win.

BR is promising, got the potential to be great. Only 1 way to find out.Give him time.

Not saying give him an eternity.

He should show consistent (even if slight only) progress.

None of the top managers past or present were born Top Managers, or were they.

Our great Fan Base, is right to be impatient.

But please blame the right persons.

We didnt invest when we were near the top n could attract the world's best. But our rivals did.

Example : When Ferguson bought Rio for 30m, who did we buy?

We cn try a Poker, but like KK ( and leeds) has shown it won't work, we need to build gradually, without putting the Financial Health of the Club at stake.

If we want to blame we need to go as far as Moore.

Lets all pull in 1 direction. Please.

U cn do much worse than give ur unconditional backing to BR

  64. the "great" was a reference to the "adoration" that LFC fans had for the charismatic leader of the three lions

    ReplyDelete
  65. the reference is to Hendo's age rather than his current accomplishment. He is not worth the money but he has age and lack of options on his side. As for the golf comment, that is an insult to the great game. As for my knowledge, I know enough not to play a winger as LB and LB as winger, what is the point of that. Rodgers "genius" is getting to me lately.
