Earlier this week, Former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart confirmed that Liverpool had put in a huge €20m offer for Hamburg team-mate Son Heung-Min, and this has prompted the club's general manager Frank Arnesen make yet another public plea for the South Korean to stay.
In an interview yesterday with German newspaper Hamburger Morgenpost, Arnesen was asked about the possibility of Son leaving in January. He responded:
"As I have said, Heung-Min Son is under contract until June 2014.
"We want him to stay at Hamburg. He simply has to believe in the future of this club.
"We have the ambition to challenge for a place in a European club competition during the next new season, and we need our players."
Speaking to Reporters yesterday, Son seemed to suggest that a move away from Germany is a distinct possibility. When asked about renewing his contract, he said:
"It’s very hard to say that I will renew at the moment"
Son has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last few months, and in a recent interview with BILD, Van Der Vaart specifically referenced the Reds' interest in the South Korean striker. He said:
"It is tempting when Liverpool informs you of a twenty million offer, but he [Son] must stay here! He has the confidence, he plays regularly and can be better. For us he is a very important player"
Son - whose current contract expires in 2014 - is known for his dribbling skills, close control, and electric pace, and Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink believes his form in front of goal has drastically improved recently. He enthused:
“He practises shooting in training every day and it shows that doing more than others pays off.”
That may be the case, but Son is hardly a prolific goalscorer. Last season, he grabbed 6 goals in 31 appearances for Hamburg, which is nothing to write home about.
Still, he looks like an exciting player.

not the type of player we need we need an out and out striker huntalaar would be good and cheap imo forget about the 30 million pound men cannot see it happening
ReplyDeleteSon is a really talented player and i would really like to see him at Liverpool but 20m price tag is too steep, if we could get him for under 10m then he would prove to be a great signing.
ReplyDeleteCavani
ReplyDeleteDon't think he's worth 20m, but it may go down well in Asia if we signed him. One thing that keeps me wondering is, why would van der Vaart know how much another club bid for another player. Is he their MD or something now?
ReplyDeleteHe reads Daily Mail, daily.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone listen to buck? false 9? luis the best in the EPL right now?
ReplyDeletewe may need a back up 'striker' but what we really need is someone to alternate with raheem when the season kicks on, and someone for the other side(theo/mertens/son) to create a super quick, tricky, interchanging attacking trio..with suso behind them.
this is the style we are going for. get used to it and stop craving a centre forward. we have the best there is.
Talking of the Daily Mail, today, they are going with Downing to Arsenal for £10m...haha
ReplyDeleteGot to be a Spurs fan that wrote the article
or Liverpool fan
ReplyDeleteDowning starts today by the way
ReplyDeleteno i dont listen to buck thank god the only time i listen to him is for is perfetic excuses when we lose he picks the side the buck[pardon the pun]stops with him and today is no different
ReplyDeletewhats rodgers playing at he tells a player to look for a new club then starts him insane
ReplyDeleteAnyone want to comment about Liam Ridgwell penalty?
ReplyDeleteWatching the match and already its clear its one of them carry henderson games... seen him do nothing but jog an walk about he dont chase back or anything what an absolute joke of a player he is
ReplyDeleteThats Rodgers for ya
ReplyDeletehes been shocking also think we signed the wrong player from swansea lol
ReplyDeleteam sure someone will ;-]
ReplyDeleteno more excuses rodgers is not the man and allen do not even get me started can,t pass can,t tackle 15 million only in rodgers eyes .i wondered why no other club even tried to sign him and now i know why also why switch enrici when he was one of our most potent threats
ReplyDeleteapart from Suarez and at times Enrique we havent signed the right player for a long time lol
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately due to it not been Suarez diving its probably going to go un-noticed mate by certain individuals
ReplyDeleteWhy leave it 75 minutes to replace Henderson and Downing when they basically were not even in the game or making an effort to be in it, Rodgers is losing the extremely little faith i had in him, look at WBA under clarke, on paper we are arguably a much better team yet they are playing great and flying high whilst we are average and thats been polite, there can be no excuses as if clarke can do it at WBA with the players at his disposal then why cant Rodgers? simple really.. He aint up to it
ReplyDeletewe were playing for a point mate damage limitation ...
ReplyDeleteLol just so funny reading some people overhere. Last year we were losing these kind of games and they still wanted to give KD 'more time'.
ReplyDeleteGarbage.
Playing for a point at Swansea kind of sums it up eh
ReplyDeleteOh honey! Your comment is so similar to BR's - That team has shown progress since last year when they lost against Swansea. You know what? We won vs West Brom away and Drawn vs Man Utd at home last season, now do you take that into account before you delivered your statement? Garbage, eh really? You know what Garbage is ? Having a better than most of the teams between 5-10 in PL but still below them, KD was bad and BR is equally bad if not more. Pure average. As much as I want to trust BR, more I see of it more I feel he is average as hell.
ReplyDeletespot on
ReplyDeleteYou are average
ReplyDeleteThat explains it for sure.
ReplyDeleteTony Pulis probably has to say a thing or two about that one.
ReplyDeleteCan't tackle, can't pass. Where have I heard all of this before. Ah right, back in the days when Lucas was three years younger than he is now.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't turn up at all in last seasons corresponding fixture.
ReplyDeletei always liked lucas you could see his effot also he was i young lad learning a different language on the other side of the world allen put in about 6 tackles yesterday giving away about 4 free kicks good stats?
ReplyDeleteSon we dont need you go play in the backyard.
ReplyDeleteBTW Carr Theo Walcott has 9 goals 7 assists in 15 games, im pretty sure you should be praying he moves to Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteplease do not post me with false info the stats above are they for his entire carear at arsenal hes played ten league games this year and scored 3 goals as a side who attack a lot like arsenal they are poor stats
ReplyDeleteJason, I didn't want to suggest that you booed Lucas back then, but enough people did it.
ReplyDeleteAllen has been pretty poor in the past few weeks, I've agreed to that before. But I simply don't see the useless and poor player you seem to make him. It's your opinion, fair enough, but I don't agree. Look, until two weeks ago Enrique was so badly out of form for almost a year that even I nearly started thinking that he is rubbish. Now he's been named MOM twice in a row. Don't be so harsh on Allen.
Heug min son is a wonderful player i watch the bundesliga an in sum years time he will be one of the worlds bestt hell fit in wonderful in liverpool 2 me the money wasted on sturridge should have gone towards buying son -_-
