'Balkan Cruyff' to Anfield? LFC Scouts 'keeping an eye' on exciting £4m attacker...

Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of young midfielders over the last few months, and the latest name to enter the fray is Heerenveen attacking midfielder Filip Duricic, who has been labelled the 'Balkan' Johann Cruyff.

20-year old Duricic is one of Serbia's brightest talents, and according to one source, Liverpool are actively watching the youngster:

"Filip Duricic is another player Liverpool like the look of.

"Scouts have been keeping an eye on his performances in Holland, and believe the 20-year-old could fit into the Anfield set-up.

"The Dutch club are adamant they want to keep him until the end of the season – but Duricic could become available for around £4million at the end of the season".

Manchester United tried to sign Duricic in 2009 after he impressed during a one-week trial, but the transfer fell through, with work permit issues rumoured to be the reason.

In a recent interview, the Serbian international admitted that he definitely plans to move on soon. He said:

"I could have joined a bigger club this winter [January 2012 transfer window] if I had wanted to but I preferred to finish the season here, though.

"We'll see what happens. My goal is to earn a move to Spain. The football there suits my style of play best"

Duricic's stats are pretty decent for a 20 year old:

* Last season: 10 goals/11 assists in 34 games.
* Goal/Assist every 136 mins.
* This season: 2 goals/2 assists in 11 games.

  2. Realistically we are going to have to look at taking a punt on some younger strikers from overseas.

    Looking through the list of all strikers in the premier league the ones that stand out as being realistic targets of sufficient quality for me would be Dzeko (big money but might be prepared to stay in the north east, Darren Bent, Demba Ba and Walcott, Sturridge, Lukaku

    Sturridge, Dzeko and Walcott being the only wons worth breaking the bank for imo.

    Other than that we I can't see anyone of quality who we would have any chance of signing.

    Thinking outside the box i'd ive liked us to have gone for Bentdnar from Arsenal, I think he could have come good for us.

    If Chelseas want to keep Sturridge, Torres and sign Falcao then maybe a cheeky bid for Lukaku could be worth a short on potential.

  6. He looks good, but he won't come as this is only speculation and we have been linked with every decent foot-baller who can kick a ball lately. Only BR really knows who he wants in January.

  9. ??

    Theo Walcott is one of the fastest players in the world. He is clinical, intelligent and tricky. He has scored 55 goals in 257 appearances which were undoubtedly mostly substituted appearances. In that career he also has 42 assists...

    His England Career is a similar one... he comes on mainly as a substitute, yet he has scored 4 goals in 30 caps and I'm sure he has some assists to his name there too.

    He is 23!

  10. Do you know why he comes on as a substitute? He may be all you say he is. But not for the asking price. Not gonna happen. LFC is on a wage cap exercise now.

  11. THe asking price is slike 6 - 8 mill apparently.

    He comes on as a sub cos Arsene is a twat and sour frenchman has no idea how to get the best out of a solid english player with a die hard attitude. He's a great player, can turn a game on its' head. put him in his natural striker role and he'll run back to fetch, play in the centre.

    He's a Liverpool fan for goodness sake! Get him in there!!!!!

    Huntelaar and Walcott would represent an amazing summer window for us.
