'LFC are interested' - Reds 'in contact' with €30m star who impressed Fergie...

It's no secret that Liverpool plan to sign a new striker during the January transfer window, and in recent weeks, the likes of Klass Jan Huntelaar, Fernando Llorente and Charlie Austin have been linked with the club. The latest name on the Reds radar is FC Braga striker Éderzito António Macedo Lopes, aka Éder, a player who is also interesting Arsenal, Manchester United and Napoli.

According to a report in Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today:

"The number of clubs on the lookout for Éder increases with each passing day.

"After Manchester United and Napoli, Arsenal and Liverpool are now interested, and the duo have already made contact with the striker's representative.

"Éder has a €30m release clause in his contract."

Arsenal, Spurs and Everton have all scouted the Portugal international, and Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson was so impressed with the striker's performance in Braga's recent Champions League game at Old Trafford that he made an enquiry about the player after the game.

24-year old Eder has started this season with a bang, grabbing 6 goals and 2 assists in 8 starts for Braga, but his overall career record is nothing to get excited about:

* 12 goals in 83 games for Académica.
* 11 goals in 41 games Tourizense.

Additionally, the 24-year old only joined Braga in the summer, so it seems unlikely that they would sanction a move only 6 months after arriving at the club...unless, of course, some club is stupid enough to pay the €30m release clause.

If Braga are to sell, there's no way that they'll get €30m; I'd be surprised if they got €10m for someone completely untested outside Portugal.

  11. Off topic but Carroll still hasn't scored for West Ham yet, despite being a regular starter. Guess it was an extremely bad idea to let him go huh !

  14. not to late will not get him as cheaply now but for 15million i would still rather have him than a lot of the players we are being linked to

  15. not surprised looking at his goal to games ratio in a minor league i cannot understand how we did not contemplate a move for rhodes at 8million a proven goalscorer young,how can you lose its not as if we would not have got our money back if it had not worked out cannot remember the last player we signed from the lower leagues [and i dont mean future prospect]dont we have a scouting system in english football anymore or are they all at academy matches lol

  16. Please no. As soon as a player scores against English opposition they are "magically" linked with several english clubs lol!

    He is average.

  17. The fact you cant find anything of real note tells you the type of player he is dont you think?? lol

  18. I would be amazed if we spent more the £7 million on a player during January, i know there is a lot of talk coming from Rodgers and Werner about us needing a striker but the same things were said during the summer and well we all know how that turned out, I just cant shake the feeling that Rodgers was the cheaper option during the summer and the cheaper option will always be the preferred choice regardless of whether its the right one.
