Sort it out! Aldo urges 'struggling' LFC star to 'learn' from Everton mistakes...

Liverpool youngster Andre Wisdom has been a revelation since he burst onto the scene earlier this season, and he's consistently put in strong, mature performances in every game that he's played. In a very short space of time, the 18 year old has become the club's first choice right back, but Reds legend John Aldridge believes that his performance against Everton last week revealed some flaws to his game that need to be resolved.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo this week, Aldridge criticised the 'lightweight' nature of Rodgers team selection for the Everton game, and highlighted Wisdom's performance:

"Kevin Mirallas was having a terrific game and made life difficult for Andre Wisdom.

"It was the first time Wisdom has struggled.

"He needs to sit down with the coaches and learn from it".

Wisdom definitely found it difficult to contain Mirallas, and most of Everton's best attacks came down the right-hand side, including the move that led to Steven Naismith's goal.

Having said that, the entire defence collapsed for Everton's equalising goal, so the blame cannot entirely be placed on Wisdom's shoulders. Additionally, he's been solid in practically every game, and he's bound to have a small defensive lapse every now and again. After all, no player is perfect.

It's a testament to Wisdom's quality that Glen Johnson seems to have been permanently moved to the left-back position, a change that benefits the team on both the defensive and attacking fronts. In fact, I'd be quite happy to see Wisdom permanently replace Johnson on the right, and I hope that is Rodgers' plan going forward.

Despite his rapid rise to first-team eminence, Wisdom has his feet planted firmly on the ground, and he exhibits a pleasing maturity about his place in the team. He told LFC TV:

"I know it's easy for people to get carried away but I've only played a few games. I also realise that I play for Liverpool and sooner or later, the manager might choose to leave me out.

I know there will be difficult moments, but you have to take everything as it comes. The minimum you can give is 100 per cent. If you don't you're letting yourself, the team, the fans and the coaching staff down."

  2. Kelly is the most suitable right-back for me. He defending skill is awesome and have the speed as well.

  4. How about Johnson as RB and Downing as LB ....

That would give us great width for once !!!!

Defensively .... well, we just need to experience it first before we can make any judgements ....

Nonetheless, I think we should give it a try !!

  5. with downing and LB we will finally have someone who is as useless as going forward as he is defending instead of someone like johnson where altleast his defensive capabilties are average

  6. We have to understand that our youngsters are still not first team regulars, or at least shouldn't be(not even Sterling).
That is why we need Johnson and Enrique(or Downing) to be consistent so that Robinson Wisdom and Kelly can fight for one spot, and a striker so that Sterling, Suso and Assaidi fight also for one spot.
If we can get the pressure of their backs, they all will turn out to be great players- otherwise they will simply burn out...

  8. The only reason johnson has been played out of pos is beause we don't have a decent LB. Johnson over Wisdom at RB any day

  9. Anyone knows whether dubious linesman who disallowed Suarez goal in injury time, is officiating any premiereship game this weekend? Hypocrite Whiskey nose has come out in support of Manure fan referee Claytenburg and claims that he does not think the referee would have called the Chelsea player a racist name. What a plank, when things are going for his team, the referee is a great guy. It is ok Fergie, there is your favourite referee Howard Webb ready to step in if Claytenburg is unavailable in the near future. Chelsea were smart toraise their compalin with the FA as well as the police. Everybody can be sure that, the Kangaroo court will clear Claytenburg of all wrong doings, but the police will charge him, once he fails the lie detector test. Anyhow Chelsea have got rid of one pain in the arse referee who would never referee their game again. Next target must be Howard Webb now. Funny that the referees are thinking of boycotting Chelsea games. Good then, as FA can now invite good foreign referees to officiate games. At least you would not get dubious decisions against your team whenever your team plays manure. Even today, manure gets a penalty from a referee who seemed to be waiting to give one. The moment the ball hits Santi Cazzola, who was turning his head away and protecting his face. This was a clear ball to hand siuation, which the referee could have denied a penalty. However justice was done has Looney hit a curling effort past the post and missed a golden opportunity to put manure 2-0 up before the break. You have got more work to do referee in the second half to give all three points to manure. This one penalty is poor showing by the referee. If Ar-se equalisers, please send off two Ar-se players and also give seven minutes of extra time to make it certain that manure wins at the end.

  10. Wisdom has been really solid so far except for Everton game and done really well overall but he doesn't offer anything in attack so if Enrique can get his form back then i would prefer to see Johnson at right and Enrique at left as i prefer to see us playing with attacking fullbacks rather than defensive minded players.

  14. I wouldn't exactly label Wisdom a "Star" just yet, he has had only a handful of games for the first team and has yet to establish himself. He did get lit up against Everton, but that was by far the most intense game he's been a part of, so I've no doubt he will learn from that experience. I would be more inclined to criticize a seasoned veteran like Enrique for his part in the equalizer.

  15. Wisdom is a damn fine player, defensively superior to Johnson who is his senior. Wisdom will not have a perfect game each time and being so young, the pressure on him is immense to perform at his best. Do not know what Aldo is on about to be honest, does he think Wisdom doesn't know what went wrong against Everton and that our coaches haven't discussed with Wisdom what went wrong already? Have a laugh Aldo.

  16. wisdom wasn't the only player to have an 'off day'. that was the first time i could say that about him since he came in. of course he will learn from it, he is learning every game. do not doubt the 'wisdom' of playing him, he will be a top player.
