Still 'upset' over LFC move? Reds star admits regret over missed Zeman opportunity...

In October, injured Liverpool striker Fabio Borini admitted that he was 'upset' to leave Roma, and insisted it was the Serie A club's decision to sell him to Liverpool. Borini has struggled to make an impact since arriving at Anfield, and in a new interview, the 21-year old has once again hinted that he's unhappy about laving Italy.

Speaking to TMW today, Borini - who has scored one goal for Liverpool since his summer move - admitted tha would've liked to play under Roma Coach Zdeněk Zeman. He said:

"I admit that I would have liked to play under Zeman, and I would've scored goals. I even bought a house, which I now have rented"

Roma are 6th in Serie A under Zeman, a manager that Lazio coach Vladimir Petkovic recently labelled a 'legend'. When asked about his former coach Luis Enrique, Borini replied:

"I liked him more as a person than a coach. His 'tiki taka' did not work at times, and didn't match the Italian mentality".

Despite his apparent homesickness, Borini ruled out a return to the 'Giallorossi':

"In the future, I do not think I will return"

Borini's season has been cruelly interrupted by the foot injury he sustained on International duty, and although he's flattered to deceived so far, Brendan Rodgers is convinced the Italian will come good. He told LFC TV:

"Fabio was brought in for the present, but also for the future, and over time he will get better and better, and I'm sure he'll go on to become a great player for the club".

With the emergence of Suso and Raheem Sterling, plus Oussama Assaidi and Jose Enrique as excellent options for the front attacking three, Borini has a real battle on his hands to regain his place when he returns from injury.

He's clearly not going to dislodge Suarez from the central striker's role, and all four of the aforementioned players are more effective than Borini in wide areas, so it's difficult to see where he'll fit in.

  6. One of the best teams I've enjoyed watching was when Spalletti was in charge of Roma, and his style of play wasn't typically Italian. Spalletti was the first manager in recent time to bring back the 'false nine' role with Totti, than of course the likes of Wenger, Del Bosque and Guardiola did the same with Van Persie (for not long, as Cesc & RVP picked up injuries), Cesc and Messi. Roma weren't that successful in the league under Spalletti but they were great to watch. From the little I've seen, Zenit are pretty good to watch to, under Spalletti. So it was interesting but understandable risk they took in taking Luis Enrique, maybe they hoped for some of that lovely football that Spalletti brought. Not easy to be successful in Serie A with such a distinctly different style of play, especially in such a short time. So I get where Borini is coming from, even though it is a pity as Spalletti's Roma were great to watch. Luis Enrique, a novice coach bringing a totally different style of play to what is normally seen in Serie A was a tough ask in his first season

  8. Just hope Rogers doesn't try play favourite with him when he gets back... all of the above mentioned players deserve a spot ahead of him for me

  9. i like Borini seems nice , saw him in the Liverpool documentary "Being Liverpool." Still think he has been a failure at Liverpool so far. Yeah i know the Liverpool faithful are saying that the lad needs time. Well i say that we need a striker who is ready to come into the squad and make an immediate impact. Since Borini has played for us I haven't seen his presence on the team. He has not been very creative nor has he stamped his influence upon the team. I think he is certainly one for the future but not one for right now. Someone else is needed to lead the line and Borini should be nothing more than a glorified substitute. He gets a failing grade.
