'It's very cool!' - £20m midfield maestro responds to LFC transfer rumours...

Ajax star Christian Eriksen has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United several times in the past, and today, he responded to renewed speculation linking him with a move to Anfield.

Speaking to Tipsbladet.dk, Eriksen - who arguably had an underwhelming tournament for Denmark at Euro 2012 - addressed rumours linking him with Liverpool. He said:

"It's very cool that one of the big clubs is interested in me.

"It's very special, but I have not really thought about a club transfer in any way"

£20m-rated Eriksen is a player with great potential, but Liverpool legend Jan Molby is not convinced he's ready to move to one of Europe's big clubs yet. He told Goal.com:

"There is a lot of hype about Christian and there is certainly a lot of potential there as well

"All the top clubs have been looking at him because he has clearly got all the ingredients to one day become a top, top player.

"But Eriksen is nowhere near being the finished article. In my opinion, I don’t think he is anywhere near ready to move to one of the elite European clubs".

Molby appears to be right: Eriksen showed nothing in the Euros to justify the endless hype over his ability, and good performance in the Eredivisie is not an indicator that Eriksen will do well in the Premier League.

  1. Hahaha, last time he say he only want to go to Real Madrid only now change mind? Btw we should focus on finding a clinical striker rather than midfielder

  2. I have never been overly impressed with him to be honest and I don't think he's the type of player we need. The real star is Viktor Fischer who destroyed us in the next gen series for Ajax. A real goalscoring threat.

  3. If we can't get NURI SAHIN at the end of the season we should be looking to get this guy.One bad tournament doesn't mean you're a bad player or not ready to make the next step.
If you don't judge players by what they do in their respective leagues EPL clubs would just take the safe option and only buy PREMIER LEAGUE players (we wouldn't have got LUIS SUAREZ).
15 million would be a more reasonable amount to pay.I would welcome CHRISTEN ERIKSEN or ANDER HERRERA!

  6. First of all remind me to hurry to the record store and pick up a copy of that song used in the back ground of the Eriksen clip. Those guys deserve all my money.

Secondly Ericksen is an arrogant young prick. There is nothing wrong with his foot-ball but when he was pursued a couple of seasons ago by Sir Alex he made it clear that he didn't think too much of of Man United, and the top clubs in England for that matter, he was interested in Barca, Madrid, Inter , Milan or any other of the other clubs in the world. He , like a lot of other people at the time were under the impression that the big English super clubs dominated the world of football in the transfer market due to the fact that they could outspend the competition. He was obviously referring to domination of United and Chelsea in the transfer market and in Champions league competition some time back. Both these clubs especially out of England outspent most everybody and always finished on top in Champions league competition. There was a period when there existed more than a little jealousy of the big clubs in England. Wesley Sneider is a player who rejected a move to English foot-ball due to the fact that he wanted to tilt the balance of power.

The Eriksen snub occurred about 3 years ago when Sir Alex aggressively pursued him. At the time the likes of Anzi Makhachkala of Russia, Malaga of Spain, and PSG of France, had not reached their present super club status, so Eriksen directed his frustrations at English football as a whole. Glad to hear that he has since changed his tune and is actually flattered by attention from an big English club. Should i really be upset that Eriksen hates United and shows slight favorism towards Liverpool. I guess I shouldn't but something about his general arrogance a couple years ago has put me off this player. We do need a striker more than we need him though.

  8. Dont rate him, a hard working player with nothing special to offer. Would rate Gylfi Siggurdson higher, and he cant hold down a regular place at Spurs.

  10. I would get him if we possibly can based on his poterial. Rather then wait until he becomes too good for us to obtain like Hazard was.

  12. A real talent at only 20 years of age. I hope Agger's presence in the team shall tilt him to our favour when we finally have the funds to bid for him
