'We're in trouble!' - Ex-LFC boss blasts transfer window 'mistake'

After yesterday's deadline-day transfer debacle, Liverpool are now faced with the prospect of competing in four competitions with only two recognised strikers at the club. Brendan Rodgers made it clear last week that signing a goalscorer wasn't a major priority, but former Reds-boss Roy Evans has broken ranks and accused the club of making a mistake.

Discussing Liverpool's striker situation on LFC TV last night, Evans could barely hide his frustration over the club's failure to sign a striker before the transfer window ended. He said:

"It's a worry. Letting Andy Carroll out on loan before having a replace is a mistake.

"Yes, we've got Adam Morgan, but he's not tried and tested, especially for a team that's trying to qualify for the Champions League.

"It's going to be a difficult year, and if we don't sign a striker, we're going to be in trouble".

It's definitely disappointing that the club didn't sign a striker, but I disagree that letting Andy Carroll go was a mistake. He is just not good enough for Liverpool, and even without a replacement, the club is (IMO) better off, for the following reasons:

* Carroll's absence means that players like Adam Morgan, Samed Yesil, and maybe even Jaoa Teixeira may - through necessity - get more chances, which will accelerate their overall progress.

* If Carroll was still at Anfield, the team's approach would have to change every time he played, which would've stunted the progress/implementation of Rodgers' football philosophy.

There's surely no way that Liverpool can repeat last season's incredible bad luck in front of goal, and if the likes of Suarez and Borini rise to the challenge, and Assaidi, Gerrard and Sahin chip in with goals, Liverpool should be okay until January, when I think it's safe to assume that the club will definitely sign a striker (!) Having said that, we made that assumption last night too, and look what happened!

The thing that concerns me is whether the club's players can deal with the massive goalscoring pressure that's now been thrust upon them. The club's problems in front of goal have been massively publicised, and without a new striker, the pressure is well and truly on Suarez and Borini to deliver, and if they don't, they're going to be attacked from all sides.

Let's just pray that Suarez and/or Borini don't get injured any time soon :-o

  1. You better watch West Ham's game now to see how good Carroll is playing. I think, it is manager's duty to get the best out of a player. Agreed that Carroll is not a world class player but he is not as bad as we think. We could have used him if we can't buy better strikers.

  2. Penny pinching yanks strike again. Breaking promises as usual.

  3. Hahah I wish Carroll success...he is looking good as anyone playing with hammers. Last year he cost Daglish his job .....this time he will cost Rodgers his job...for the opposite reason of course...:D...Thank god...he is gone on loan and not sold...

  5. C'mon Michael Owen!!!

  6. Andy Carroll is brilliant playing for west ham winning all the balls! That's a big player we have lost! Stupid management. Wish he comes back next year!!!

  7. In a successful team that wants to compete for a Champions League spot, midfielders should be scoring a decent amount of goals as well. If our current midfield manages that (and I believe it does have the ability to do that, in contrast to the mish-mash collection of underperforming midfielders under Dalglish), and the strikers contribute their part, we'll be fine.

  8. He is going to be sold for 15m next season. Why do you think BR loaned him in the first place. However WHU has to survive relegation

    ReplyDelete
  9. To rely on Suarez goalscoring is extremely risky. He is selfish and plays for himself before the team. Bore-ini is underwhelming and looks far away from an £11m player. So where does that leave us?
Rodgers has been made to look very naive and foolish. Those above him look very amateurish at best and dishonest at worst.
Am wondering if Rodgers is a Patsy!

    ReplyDelete
  10. In one way we lost nothing, because Rodgers wasn't going to play him. But it's appalling business to leave yourself so short up front. We're vulnerable to injury and short on goals, unless Suarez and Borini hit form (a gamble I wouldn't take).
Rodgers said he wanted 3, he's got 2, this wasn't what he planned or hoped for.
Even if Carroll is ill suited, he is still a body, one that can play at prem level. The youngsters aren't. FSG should have backed their new man with a striker of his choosing.

  11. I would rather see Morgan playing than the donkey that is Carroll! He just always looked so out of place and I'm glad he's gone.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No one is saying Carroll is a bad player but he's not the right TYPE of player. No top modern day team plays with such a slow lumbering player up front anymore. Top teams that do have a big striker upfront have characteristics that AC does not have like pace, acceleration and great technique. I'm not happy that FSG wouldn't sanction the signing of a striker but I am glad AC has gone. Never rated him as I love watching the probing passing style of football and AC would never fit into a team that play that style.

  13. Amazed we didn't sign a striker. To let a senior striker go and not have a replacement lined up is madness. Yes carroll was not best suited to our new style or any style lfc will ever play but he wasn't that bad. He will play well at west ham because they will hoof the ball up and that suits Carroll.

It hurts as we all assumed either sturbridge or Dempsey would come in.

If FSG don't have the funds or are it willing to put in the money where their mouth is then they should get out now. How could we not find 7m? We got 4m from Adam sale and would have got something from Carroll loan. Something is not right.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Jamie

Your right about "presuming" regards January, if they wouldnt find a lousy 2 mil now for a proven scorer, why will they in January? There is only one reason they will and that is if they have'to ie because we are mid table and not scoring goals, as we know only to well the problem with buying in January is the price inevitably goes up depending on how desperate you are, so it might be right to sum FSG up as....penny wise and pound stupid !!

    ReplyDelete
  15. If he plays well...why will LFC sell him? Its just an option to buy not commitment...

    ReplyDelete
  16. There is no way on god's green earth that Adam Morgan at 17 can be a top team's third striker. They better get Michael Owen quick for even a semblance of credibility "Okay until January"; you're having a laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Watching the W Ham game and all I'm seeing is classic Big Sam hoof ball. It's this style in which AC thrives and that's why you're getting the illusion that Carroll is "playing well". I would never accept L'pool to ever play this style of football hence the reason I never rated AC and never will

    ReplyDelete
  18. rogers is full of shit..looks how andy carrol played now..and the yanks also full of shit..liverpool will fight for relegation this season..borini will be liverpool jordan henderson for 2012-2013..i hope suarez & gerrard will leave liverfool..and liverfool will never ever be the top 4 team again..champions liga will be dreams forever..

    ReplyDelete
  19. If rodgers liked the player he would have kept Carroll. Although 20 goals might convince him

    ReplyDelete
  20. The issue is not Andy leaving; the real piece of worryingly amateur management is the lack of a replacement. Could Rodgers etc have handled it any worse?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Surely you're being sarcastic right? And people wonder why England have never won anything since 66 and never look like winning anything again!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Rodgers future is not certain, is it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Some of the comments in this article is really petty.............we let andy go on loan and bam!!end of world. its good we saved money for 6m we can buy yilmaz in january.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Do us a favor go & support someone else, call yourself a fan
its you thats full of shit....

    ReplyDelete
  25. The issue is not Andy Carroll's abilities; its the bad management that let him go without a replacement.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thats my concern about Rodgers... He has no real experience, fair enough he may have worked under certain managers but until you take the reigns yourself at a big club you have no clue, and more to the point he seems to be pointing to a footballing philosophy he seems to think he created at Swansea, which he didnt they played that way before he arrived and still do now! Anyone can write a dossier on how football should be played, its putting it into practice thats the problem and if you trim an already weak squad and not strengthen accordingly the problem becomes even bigger

  27. are you talking to me?

  28. Enam they offered 3 mill for Dempsey when they could have offered more look for a 3 mill pound striker on low wages

    ReplyDelete
  29. Full of so much anger and hatred. Why?

    ReplyDelete
  30. If Carroll bags 25-30 goals we get a comfortable 20-25 million. Carroll has gone on loan to raise his stock.

Carroll's situation in terms of value is similar to that of Xabi Alonso. When Rafa first tried to sell him he struggled to get teams to match his valuation of 13-14 million because of ho poor Xabi had been playing for us in recent seasons. One exceptional season later and we pick up 30 mill.

Here's hoping Carroll has a stormer of a season under his mentor, tutor and football philosophy professor Big SAM ALLARDYCE. Very uch a match made in heaven.

In terms of strikers, if Suarez stops shooting every chance he gets and lays it off more often than not, the goals won't be a problem. I'm getting tired of seeing Suarez appologise when he misses a clear chance to assist. Surely sincerity suggests his apologies mean he'll not shoot so often hen the pass is quite clearly on.....but no...Suarez wants the glory............expect more apologies from Suarez on a footy field near you!..

    ReplyDelete
  31. playing young doesnt just accelerate development you silly boo, it also causes injuries that will ruin their careers by age 26, michel owen, robbie fowler if i had the paience id make a full list, instead i'll just say fsg has screwed us. not ayre, not brenda, not carroll, but fsg. record shirt and sponsor deals, yet spending well below our earnings.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You are correct Keith about Suarez being selfish,
a good example was the winning goal against Hearts.
Sterling was competely unmarked with an open goal,
Suarez ignores him & goes for glory luckily the shot
hit the Hearts player & went in,same against City.
Borini completely unmarked this time Suarez shot
    went wide.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I hate him but at this moment I would take him on a pay as you play deal in case we have an injury to Suarez or Borini

    ReplyDelete
  34. Suarez is our main striker its his job to shoot! if he didnt shoot fans would be complaining about that more! I think the problem Suarez has is the fact he is feeling the burden of been the man they look to for the goals, something he didnt have at Ajax as he had a decent partner, and he was prolific! Release some of the pressure and watch him go!

    ReplyDelete
  35. We also have to wonder about Rodgers' role at the club. Based upon his own comments over last 48 hours I am left asking was he lied to? Was he lying to us? Or was it all honest incompetence that left us in this awkward position? What ever reason its very disturbing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. you must have a very small penis to have to come here and act like such a tw@. i pity you.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Or we could buy Snoop Doogy Dog in January! This is beginning to look like deja vu (all over again).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Should have sold him instead, to conjure up some more transfer funds. For me, it was either sell him or keep him in the squad, not loan. Very risky to go into a season with only two first team squad strikers (not inc. Morgan for now).

    ReplyDelete
  39. It was incompetence mate regardless of who lied, they made Dempsey look like a fool as he was desperate to come and waited as long as he could, but more importantly have made LFC look complete idiots

    ReplyDelete
  40. Suarez played wide in a front three for Ajax. He wasn't the main striker because he is not a main striker. He has proved that he is unable to finish 'bread and butter' chances on a regular and consistent basis. Suarez said this recently

"In Holland I scored a lot of lucky goals. If you look back on my goals in Holland you will see that, a lot of times, I didn't even hit them properly but they went in. If there is one thing that is missing in this country, it is that bit of luck.

That can make a big difference. I am hoping that it will return and then I will score more."

Bloody hell, hows about aiming for the corner of the net or relying on something more substantial than luck like technique. I don't think he'll ever be considered 'deadly' here.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Maybe he wasnt the main striker there, but he is here, either way he is still looked upon as the man to get us our goals.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This episode has made Rodgers look dishonest, stupid or totally irrelevant.

    ReplyDelete
  43. For some reason my reply needs to be approved...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree with Jamie. Young guns have a real chance. They aren't the finished article but they may cope better and return more than Carrol did... Moreover I really believe that Gerrard can and should be deployed as a striker now that our midfield consists of Sahin, Allen and Lucas/Shelvey. I am not a manager but but my best 11 would be
Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique/Downing, Allen, Lucas/Shelvey, Sahin, Suarez, Assaidi, Gerrard.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No-one?? I suggest you read through this thread again mate

    ReplyDelete
  46. To be honest I would prefer a striker with a better team attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am concerned on 2 fronts...1) I thought Brendan Rodgers was supposed to be a quality coach who can get best out of players, so far he doesn't seem to think he can do anything with a 20 year old Henderson or a 23 year old Carroll and in doing so save the club big losses. I genuinely felt he would back himself to work with these guys and improve them, but made his mind up on Carroll before even meeting the lad. All talk is of how he needs to buy the right players..Seems he is focused on wheeling and dealing...very different to how he did things at Swansea, where he took guys who werent performing and coached them into prem quality players. I thought he would at least state his aim to get best out of AC in this system (who IMO is at least as good as Danny Graham, so should have been able to) therefore not pissing fans or player off and maybe get people bidding more than the minimum, which leads onto 2) between him and Ayre, we seem to have got the worst outcome in all our transfer dealings. I am a terrible negotiator, but even I could buy Allen for his release clause and give away Aquilani, Adam and AC for minimal fees. This shows that FSG were probably right to try and force a director of football model on the club. A David Dein or similar could have got some deals done with his connections and nous. Instead we have an inexperienced manager inadvertently driving player values down with his honesty in pressers and a non football MD bend over and taking it both ways on every deal in and out. I trust Rodgers, but I really thought he would have done things differently

    ReplyDelete
  48. We have to remember BR thinks he is Josep Guardiola and Del Bosque rolled into one. Not having an out and out striker won't necessarily bother him excessively. Barca and Spain regular win trophies without one. I'm not saying it is right, I'm just saying it is something BR can probably experiment with now without the pressure of fans calling for a striker to come off the bench.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree Stevie should be used as a striker, he can save our manager and owners again like he has been for the last 10 years

    ReplyDelete
  50. Is that a serious comment? Have you seen his work rate? The guy never stops trying!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Being smarter with our other dealings could have at least got us Dempsey in the end...a little more for Aqua, a little less for Allen etc. could have got us the 2mil we needed

    ReplyDelete
  52. does anyone know what was written on his shirt?

    ReplyDelete
  53. 1 problem we dont possess the players they do, but i totally agree with your summing up of Rodgers's way of thinking

    ReplyDelete
  54. Even if he has a great goalscoring season, I doubt anyone will step in with a £20m+ bid. His reputation is that low now, as everyone and their dog knows Liverpool want him off their books. But who knows, we spent £35m on him, so I'm sure we aren't the only club who does something stupid like that in a transfer window.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Here's a new quote: "Club owners Fenway Sports Group are furious over the collapse of Clint Dempsey's proposed move to Anfield, and have deemed Ian Ayre responsible".
If this is true, then who the feck does Ayre think he is?
Or is he being scapegoated publicly?
I think there's a whole load of nasty politics going on at Anfield. Either Ayre has delusions of grandeur and should be sacked immediately, or FSG are sacrificing him to get themselves out of this mess.
But I am left asking why Rodgers or somebody else didnt get on the hotline to FSG before this happened?
Also why was it all about one man, Dempsey? Why wasn't there any room for maneouvre to buy somebody else?
Why weren't FSG in constant hourly contact with Rodgers yesterday?
This whole thing is starting to stink very badly.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes it said "HELP ME"

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ian Ayre to be demoted at the very least, maybe sacked altogether. The buzz is FSG are furious that Ayre made a mess of lastnight, they insist money was available to do a deal????................Who do we believe???

    ReplyDelete
  58. Kuyt worked hard to. But end product is absolutely essential at the highest or lowest level. Kuyt, Suarez and the second coming of Kuyt (Borini) really need to make the most of good link up play with a goal or assist.

    ReplyDelete
  59. He plays as the main striker here and he plays as the main striker for Uruguay a lot (his performances for them seem to be one of the reasons why he has a lot of admiration from some fans). Play him where ever you like, I just think he is just not that great a finisher at this level of league, for the hype he gets.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Be strong Lucas, nice touch.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Comment from Brendan Rogers " i need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that is it until January. I have got [Luis] Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll. I would need to be a nutcase to even consider at this moment to let Carroll go out, unless there are other solutions for that"

    If the shoe fits......

    ReplyDelete
  62. well i wouldnt swap Suarez for anyone else in the league mate, i think he is a class act and just needs help, something we havent given him

    ReplyDelete
  63. Totally agree!!!..............Allardyce is a dinosaur and that style would never be accepted at Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  64. If he does well for England and West Ham this season I thoroughly expect Stoke and West Ham to break the bank for him. He's still young and with bosses of the calibre of Pulis, Allardyce and Hodgson Carroll will be treated like a king in a playing style that suits him down to the ground.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Not just Owen but there are several strikers out of contract, they were injured when their contracts expired and are currently free agents!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not questioning his work rate at all. But I do question his ability to bring other players into play, he usually disregards the pass to a better-placed teammate. Instead he goes for personal glory too many times; he needs to mix it up more.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I will go back to Brendans "I am in total control" quote and now wonder what that meant, as i would have thought like Gylfi it was his choice on what to pay.

    ReplyDelete
  68. We got £1.5m in a loan fee + saved £4m in wages on Carroll, If we get £15m in the summer that is £20m + at the very least altogether, maybe more if he does well????

    ReplyDelete
  69. Instead he'll get the pressure from the fans on why the hell there isn't a striker on the bench.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Stoke spending more than £20m+? Bonkers. Absolutely bonkers, notion that.

Hammers maybe stupid enough with their owners but considering Carroll rejected the original attempt which was accepted by Liverpool a good month ago, which contained a buy out fee of £17m, I highly doubt even the Hammers were stupid enough to include a buy out fee much higher than that in their latest and successful offer. Maybe might reach the £20m figure if the loan fee was considerable but that was apparently only £1.5m.

Very hopeful thinking that Carroll would go for more than £20 but than again, we spent £35m on him.

    ReplyDelete
  71. BR comes out ok. The owners do not.

Press conference will be interesting tomorrow. Does BR come clean or do a cover up?

    ReplyDelete
  72. There are few players in our team that creates the chances he does if any.

    ReplyDelete
  73. So you are suggesting that liverpool play direct football and become a stoke city. why dont you leave liverpool and join the stoke support.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Weird! I remember last year everyone was against Carroll! Anyway I think Jaimie mad e a good point here, Carroll doesn't suit the gamplay BR whats to install, so better give the chance to other strikers to find their form and maybe get one or two that are decent.

We all knew from the beginning that since BR came in, we are a team in progress which will take more than one season to get to where the vision of management wants. So rather we all back that process and give time or we can keep ourselves floating in this crazy disaster, remember we changed owners twice and managers 5 times in 10 years! And the team had to pay for it, so we need steady progress and stability on both managerial and coaching fields.

Last week, we all had a taste of what BR can achieve while watching the City game, although it's one game but the indications and positives were all there to see. Also I remember at one point we were crying to give a chance for the youngsters, here we have it, Pacheco is stil here, also with our new young signings and some lads from the academy, and who's better suited to pave their way in 1st team football than BR?

If we want a team we should better act like one, let's all stick together and give time for everyone to take their chances, we just started the campaign, we are in Europe and that's 6 games guaranteed for BR to play more players. I think all this takes a lot of weight of BR shoulders and the opportunity to show what he is made of!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Maybe Rodgers genuinely believed that at the time or maybe it was PR. But it seems likely now that its just not true. From the outside it looks like a power struggle and even more in-fighting. Just like when Rafa was undermined when he was manager.

    ReplyDelete
  76. In a slower league or playing International football Savo Milosovic, Kuyt and Alfonso Alves were also fantastic.

I just think feel the prem forces most strikers to shoot earlier than they would like forcing some players to come to the actualisation that they are not the natural goalscorers they thought they were.

Suarez realises he is not scoring as freely but still forces the issue. He has so much more to offer but has yet accepted that he needs adjust his game slightly.

    ReplyDelete
  77. He tried to square it tonSterling you dolt

    ReplyDelete
  78. Southampton spending 12-16mill on remirez is also a bonkers notion, happened though....

    ReplyDelete
  79. Agreed. Suarez creates at least 3-5 chances per match. He is a flawed wizard.

    ReplyDelete
  80. i was saying the same thing to my mate who is a liverpool fan. That you cant tell me that gerrard cant do what dempsey can do and do it better also.I'm not a liverpool fan but i can say that gerrard is a class act and could do more and do it better than what ever dempsey could.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yep, it was bonkers. Most wouldn't have thought they wouldn't spend that much on a single player if you asked them prior to the transfer window. The few that would have, would have to have been 'very hopeful'.....

So again, very hopeful to think Carroll would go for that much but like my implied disclaimer implies, we were stupid enough to spend £35m.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well hopefully we will find out over the coming days mate, i think we deserve to know the truth, but i have a feeling its down to Rodgers and his inexperience dealing with a higher level of transfer target, you can get players on the cheap at the lower clubs as theres not as much competition it doesnt work like that at this level theres always a rival waiting to step in.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Seriously dude, I think KD and DC screwed us instead of FSG. If I'm John Henry, I will be even more cautious in splurging money on players wanted by a new manager. How much do you think we can recoup by selling those players bought by KD? If you are some manager of EPL clubs, how much will you pay for, say SD? So be fair, please.

    ReplyDelete
  84. spurs have caulibally at 17 years old gonna be a top name this season so why cant adam morgan, if he is good enough than he is old enough

    ReplyDelete
  85. It is not necessarily my hope that we get more than 20mill for Carroll. I do however feel that is the hope of the owners. Like I mentioned earlier the only reason I believe Carroll has gone out on loan is to raise his stock. The owners are obviously incensed with how Kenny spent their money and want substantial traces of the Kenny Era erased so that next time any money available can be spent wisely

    ReplyDelete
  86. Jaimie - of course it would be better to still have Carroll instead of current situation, are you serious??

So we will be ok IF Suarez and Borini don't repeat last seasons incredible bad luck and score some goals, IF midfielders start scoring, IF no one gets injured and IF we sign a striker in January. Lot of IFs.

Also, if we were incredibly unlucky in front of goal last year that must mean that KD was, in turn, incredibly unlucky to get sacked.

Yesterday was a complete joke. Can these owners manage anything? Ayre getting the blame now, if he is so incompetent why is he still in place?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Stupid doesn't do it justice. It was utterly irresponsible.

    ReplyDelete
  88. yanks in the ranks...
    playing a prank..

    on us... for lfc fans
    worse than gillett and hicks
    no common sense at all
    money minded and shortsighted

    ReplyDelete
  89. Well said, anyone trying to back the decision to loan Carroll regardless of the consequences of leaving us short...is either deluded or just defiantly stubborn.......

Hilarious that FSG are now blaming Ayre...

    ReplyDelete
  90. Dont forget Stevie regularly misses a chunk of each season through injury.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I still believe that we still can compete with other team in Prem Leag. Big price is no a guarantee, take a look at last season...we spent big. Take a look at Newcastle and Swansea, they recruited or had a player with unknown name (ex: Ba, Cabaye, Papis Cisse, Allen, Gylfy, Sinclair etc) but they are recruited by the top club and the club succeed to compete. So, no need to panic...we still have January and I believe the players still have faith in our club. Stop saying Negative Things coz it will spread Negative Energy to all of us. I believe the manager, owner doesn't want this to be happen but there are certain things we must accept and then we can move forward. YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  92. then again the reds may go on a winning streak dempsey flops and all you ballbags may have to eat humble pie....

    ReplyDelete
  93. Lets be fair, he also wastes a shed load of chances. The goal; stats don't lie, and his conversion rate is below average. He is not a main striker. His stats dont match those of Rush, Aldo, Robbie or Owen.

    ReplyDelete
  94. So who misses these 3-5 chances each game?

    ReplyDelete
  95. "There are better owners of Liverpool than the owners of Boston Red Sox [NESV]," Hicks told Sky Sports on the 16th of October 2010 and by no mean I imply H&G should have remained LFC owners!
Since taking over the reigns of one of the most historical clubs/brand names in the overall history of world-wide football John W. Henry and Thomas Werner have promised us that they are up to the challenge and they would do whatever it takes to turn around the fortunes of the club and bring back the glory days. What they should realize is that by being the owners of this club is all about keeping up to the challenge of LFC’s world-wide recognized name and heritage. LFC is a club whose sole purpose is to always being competing for titles and win. They should realize that this isn't an easy club. LFC is a way of life for all its fans worldwide. You've gotta want it bad being the owner of this club and keep it successful. As LFC institution we have serious problems to solve and serious decisions to make, and we need serious people for doing that. And whatever the particular problems are, by not investing on a world-class manager and on world-class players then we have no chance on being successful. Nobody has the right to put the name of LFC and its heritage up to jeopardy and most importantly the owners. It is time for them to decide if they are up to the challenge or not. If not, with dignity and integrity they can indicate weakness and sell the club to really strong-capable financially investor(s) who can grasp up to the real LFC expectations and challenges!

  96. Its all just a big old fcuk up in Dixieland....

So far FSG have proved themselves to be untrustworthy and very naive....

And Brendan Rodgers have proved himself to be very arrogant IMO, i mean like its not like the guy has won fcuk all....yet he seems to think he has by the way he has behaving....

Suffice to say i am extremely angry by what has transpired, thye club is rotten from top to bottom, someone has been advising FSG and that someone has a bitter and vengeful agenda.....

Players like Reina and Suarez were very much the reason why Kenny was sacked with their underperforming antics and Luis racist jibes....., and it seems like the monster in the mist is not satisfied with the blood of a legend, it is still hungry for more blood.....

Watch your back Gerrard, your next...

Fcuking livid about all this, LFC is shitting on its legends....never before have i wished bad things on this Club but atm i am struggling not tbh, absolutely sickened and disgusted!!!!

  97. "There are better owners of Liverpool than the owners of Boston Red Sox [NESV]," Hicks told Sky Sports on the 16th of October 2010 and by no mean I imply H&G should have remained LFC owners!
Since taking over the reigns of one of the most historical club/brand name in the overall history of world-wide football John W.

  98. Can't agree. BR either lied to us or was lied to. The former speaks for itself. But if he was lied to then we have to ask what power he actually has inside the club?
Something is seriously wrong when the manager assures us one thing, and the exact opposite happens.

    ReplyDelete
  99. there's one player out there who we can still sign and thats MICHAEL OWEN!

    ReplyDelete
  100. We have been screwed ever since Moores old out. Both sets of owners are guilty. And he egoes of Parry and Ayres have also played a huge part.

    ReplyDelete
  101. We have a squad of teenagers and a few injury prone players. We are meant to be competing in 4 competitions and for a top 4 position. It is madness to put the pressure on teenagers and risk injury and burn out. We have lost so many experienced players in Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy, Aurellio, Adam, Spearing, Carroll, Aqualaini and in their place we have a few teenagers and other players who have never played in the Premiership before. We have Lucas injured, an out of form left winger told to play left back and yet we have 4 goal keepers all of whom haven't been good enough in the last few seasons. The club has had all summer to sort the squad out it shouldn't have come to the last 24 hours of the window to be doing last minute shopping. It is so amateur and is a sad reflection on the baseball loving owners.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Couldn't really give a fcuk what happens now tbh, we have too many cunts at the Club with agenda's, i include sections of the fanbase in that too....

This Club has changed beyond measure, gone are the days when we were respected.....

These days we are more a target for ridicule than anything else....

I won't get much enjoyment watching us play anymore esp knowing what i know about how we have certain players still in our squad were working towards bringing Kenny down last season....

Seems like they have won that particular battle with the help of FSG.....

Rotten from TOP to BOTTOM, thats LFC!!!!

    Hope you enjoyed the feast....

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yep, that was quite an arrogant statement from Brendan, dishonest as well....

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yep Stevie could do that job. But why not supplement him for a relatively paltry £6m? Or even £2m. if we used the money from the Adam sale. It made no sense at all to let the competition (i.e. Spurs) strengthen at our cost.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Spot on hsingh29 my thoughts exactly, i just cant believe FSG could not find that money for dempsey, a proven prem league goalscorer. For gods sake it costs you more to buy a decent championship/league one player. utter madness, a blind man can see whats missing from this team and has been since opening fixture of last season. Lets hope it does not come back to haunt us

    ReplyDelete
  106. I fear you may be right Jobsy. Is BR out of his depth?
But the bigger question this reveals is exactly how much power does he have?
I suspect Ayre has the ego of Rick Parry.

    ReplyDelete
  107. If its Ayre's fault then he should be sacked immediately and publicly. He is not bigger than LFC.
I suspect ayre has the ego and self-importnce of Rick Parry.
There has to be something learned by this fiasco.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Are these owners any more honourable than the last? This fiasco suggests they have serious questions to answer. If Ayre is the problem he should be publicly humiliated and sacked.
I suspect that Rodgers has been undermined.

    ReplyDelete
  109. At last we are now debating the real issue. How much power Rodgers actually has. He publicly stated the need for replacement strikers.
So we need an explanation of why this did not happen.
    Was it dishonesty or incompetence?

    ReplyDelete
  110. I would rather get Ryan Babel on a short contract since he is a free agent..

    ReplyDelete
  111. agreed as well as a company man

  113. never knew carrol has been playing since 66 he he he

  114. if owen comes back to liverpool i swear i will start supporting city

    ReplyDelete
  115. louder pls i cant hear ya .lol

    ReplyDelete
  116. newcastle get 30 percent of any sale of carol so steady tiger lol

    ReplyDelete
  117. I think it was a well balanced combination of both tbh....hard not to see it any other way.

This Club is now rotten, nothing would surprise me...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Well said Adam. We are in trouble and yesterday saw us slide further behind Spurs. That is the benchmark for us nowadays.
It is a COMPETITIVE business, and we just let the competition move further away.

PS you are right about keepers; Reina is becoming a liability that nobody seems to mention.

    ReplyDelete
  119. except of course if we bought Snoop Doggy Dog.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Pathetic comments, its a fact that we have left ourselves short up front when we were virtually promised another striker....

Forgive me if i sound a bit pissed off, but im not happy about that, the whole thing stinks of something rotten......

All you ballbags who are trying to justify somehow that it is alright are deluded, 1 injury to Suarez or Borini and we are fcuked.....

And i fail to see what difference it makes if Dempsey flops, fact is we wanted him, YOU wanted him, JAMIE KANWAR wanted him.....if he flops i guess it will just make you lot look like even bigger plonkers then won't it....

    ReplyDelete
  121. BREAKING NEWS: Rodgers bids £37m. for Andy Carroll.

    ReplyDelete
  122. the rot started with moores period ....for selling us to hicks and co....the reality is my friends we will have to get used to being a mid table club who may have the odd good season ...we are never going to be able to compete with city.united and Chelsea when it come to money ...that said we have spent an awful lot of money on an awful lot of crap

    ReplyDelete
  123. Just heard that Luis Suarez has got 4 games to play for his country in the next 6 weeks....

Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

    ReplyDelete
  124. I suspect now sterling and morgan will be playing much more, with sahin playing more advanced roles. At least our second striker is not Ngog- a waste of space in my opinion. Come on youth - nows your chance to shine; you've got until January!

    ReplyDelete
  125. You can't use Carroll's performance at West Ham to judge him. I have always maintained that he is a good player but need a playing system to fit him. I am sure he will do well at West Ham as he will be their main target man and probably most plays will revolve around him.

Letting him out on loan is the right move as I can't see Brendan playing him very often. But sadly, no striker was brought in. Brendan had to take the hit for last season's massive spending. But all is not lost. Its time to speed up the introduction of the youngsters. Some of them looks good. I particularly like Suso. All top class players were once potential players coming through the ranks.

Perhaps the current situation will also tell how good the manager is given the limited resources at his disposal.

    ReplyDelete
  126. The only good thing to come out of this is there will be more opportunities for Pacheo, Suso and Morgan to play.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I don't know if the owners are that naive or hopeful but who knows. I can understand why the owners are being rather frugal in this window and back them in that regard as implied by other posts I have made, after the mess with KK and Comolli but whether or not it is their fault, we shouldn't be only having just two strikers in the squad (not counting Morgan for now).

    ReplyDelete
  128. Again i am saying he is our main striker! and if he isnt used to been a main striker it will add to the pressure

    ReplyDelete
  129. I think your right mate about the ego

    ReplyDelete
  130. It absolutely amazes me how many people are backing AC!!! What did he do for us in 18 months??? Yeah, plan B option...blah, blah...whatever! I'd rather have a manager who is strong enough to stick to his believes and let a player go than roll over just because of a price tag, loyal fans, risk that is might backfire etc. I like everything BR has done and hope that these short term fans don't hold AC against him. Trust the man in charge, yes we got caught out a little bit yesterday, but I'd rather be caught out not spending a single $ than fork out a record transfer of 35 million on big player (pun intended) in desperation like we got caught out 18 months ago and people are still laughing at us.

Let's give the project its time to rebuild, I'd rather see management hang onto the $ and spend it wisely when the time is right than splash it on the final day "just because we have to replace a guy who has only scored 6 league goals". Let's get behind the team, support them all the way.

Watched AC today and he did a great job, I'm truly happy for him and will support West Ham all the way to stay up so they can make his move permanent. He seems like a good bloke, but he does not fit into our way of play, he never looks comfortable passing around, much better in Sam's direct system. LFC fans move on, we should be getting skilfull players with more to their games than flick-ons...lets start dreaming about a Suarez / Cavani and/or Falcoa partnership...

  131. a true redman then are we !! ihope he does come back and then we will have an got rid of you

  132. There are 2 international fixtures next week and 2 in October for Uruguay.

But all other international teams have qualifiers on the same dates

  134. I don't think people quite get it. I am a Liverpool supporter and i am hurting just like the rest but Carroll going out on loan was not a mistake. Not bringing in a strike or an attacking player was a mistake. Just like what Roy Evans has said to keep Carroll and get the best out of him then we would have had to change the way we play and therefore it would take atleast a full season for Brendan Rogers to impliment his style of play and Philosophy (due to changing games to accommodate him). All us Liverpool supporters are excited to see us play in the Swansea way but when push comes to shove we want Carroll to stay who we know his main strength is his heading ability. Carroll should never have been bought in the firs place so we should not be trying to play to his strengths. Spearing contributed more than Carroll last season but everyone is happy to see him go. Is that because he dd not cost £35 mil?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Berbatov £ 5 million worth a shot

    ReplyDelete
  136. I will answer that for you. He left us and went to Real Madrid for a poultry £8mil, misses out on a Champions Leagu WINNERS medal. Goes to Newcastle for around £16mil then ends up at Man United and collects a premier league winners and is too good to play in the Champioship. Robbie Fowler is GOD and true legend and even he played in a lower league. Who the hell does Owen thinkhe is?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Well it is what it is Brendon's showed he's got balls big ones at that borini not convinced myself suarez love him but not a 20 a season struggle to see where the goals are coming but do think we will Finnish better than last season top four get falcou

    ReplyDelete
  138. I agree with Simon, why would BR leave Swansea who play good football and are on the up to manage Liverpool purely to help them make a laughing stock of the club. He was made false promises. I have watch Tom Werner's interview a few weeks ago when he said that we culd compete finacially with anyone. If so what happene yesterday when we failed to by a singe player!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. This issue is not about letting Carroll go without a replacement. It was right to get rid of Carroll as his qualities are more suited to the style of play teams like west ham play. Keeping Carroll whether we had a replacement or not would mean whenever we played him we would have to play a different style to suit Carroll which would defeat the object of bringing Rogers in in the first place. The issue is about us not buying a striker yesterday period and not if we should have replaced Carroll.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Same here, Owen is not welcomed back

    ReplyDelete
  141. Winning everything in the air you mean. Ideal for the way west ham play but not Liverpool. Can't believe people are praising how Carroll played for west ham like they are a top 4 side blessed with some of the worlds best players. Carroll is probably their best player and therefore should stand out. Lets bring him back and pay like west ham yeah!! We won't need a midfield then because it will go from keeper to striker all game!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I don't see how he is not suited to our style of play we are still putting in plenty on crosses and I'm pretty sure I have seen him pass a ball lol

    ReplyDelete
  143. Then you have shown your true colors my friend... go support city! Owen's blood is Liverpool and whoever is bitter about his unfortunate past I pity you! Poor guy got ousted by the club he loved.

    Come home Michael!

  144. could"t agree with you more, suarez could"t finish his dinner, i tink we should forget top 4 this season, make sure of a europa league spot, play morgan and suso in the group stages as there the future along side sterling, allen, kelly and shelvey.
