'It's no surprise' - El Geta respond to LFC's interest in exciting €9m winger...

Liverpool were linked with a move for Getafe winger Abdel Barrada several times during the summer transfer window, and although the Reds ultimately signed Oussama Assaidi, the rumours continue in Spain, and this has prompted Getafe to directly respond to the speculation.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier today, a spokesman for the La Liga club - nicknamed 'El Geta' by its fans - addressed the Liverpool rumour thus:

"We are not surprised because Abdel is a player who has progressed enormously, but in this moment we are not negotiating with any club and have not received any offers for his services"

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also admirers of the €9m-rated Moroccan winger, who scored one goal and made another in Getafe's 2-1 victory over the Madrid last month. After the game, Barrada could barely conceal his joy:

"It is a joy to beat the best team in the world and we will enjoy this week. The group is very happy that we have done our homework to get the three points"

Liverpool definitely need more decisive attacking players, and I'm sure this link will arise again in january.

  1. The Americans can't afford this guy. He is €9m too expensive. Not forgetting he will want wages.

  4. Presuming a Striker will be the priority in January, and they dont come cheap, alas, players like this may be just wishful thinking.

Only around 13/14 weeks till the Jan window Jaimie, Get your thinking cap on, and list the top 4/5 Strikers most likely to arrive, taking into account, Age, Availability, Transfer Fees, Salary, Suitability, % chances of signing etc etc. Suppose you would have to include Carroll so make it 5/6.Perhaps do a poll, after the the list.I dont think we will sign an unknown or surprising Striker. Hope i'm wrong but I cant see us making any other meaningful signings other than a proven goalscorer.

  5. Good talent. But come January FSG will probably fork out a measly sum for a forward. If we think there will be a spending spree in January? Think again.

  8. Would disagree there completely...the guy has come on leaps and bounds and has started this season with a flyer.
