'You will pay!' - £30m star warns Team GB over LFC's Luis Suarez...

As a result of the Patrice Evra last year, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is being incessantly booed during the Olympics, but his striker partner Edinson Cavani has warned other teams in the competition that crowd negativity will only make the striker more determined to succeed.

Speaking ahead of Uruguay's crunch game with Team GB tonight, Cavani - who has persistently been linked with a move to Liverpool over the last two years - said:

"Luis knows that the crowd might be against him, but that is the worst thing that they can do. He can punish any team in the world, but if you antagonise him you will give him more of a reason to punish you"

£30m-rated Cavani is not the only Uruguay player to show public support for Suarez; yesterday, national captain Diego Lugano argued that the 'abuse' of Suarez 'is a sigh of respect and a 'little bit of fear', adding:

"When these people take that attitude it is because they clearly see you as a rival and deep down there is a lot of respect. If the fans applaud you like they do for the Arabs or the Senegalese it is because they think you are inferior"

Despite the abuse, Suarez remains in good spirits, and is still confident of progression despite Uruguay's shock defeat to Senegal:

"A loss that hurts a lot, but we still rely on ourselves. Let's all look forward to the the next game!!"

The Olympics is a major inconvenience for Liverpool, and it has undoubtedly hampered Brendan Rodgers' pre-season preparations, but on the plus side, Suarez and Sebastian Coates should hopefully return to Anfield fully fit and raring to go, which can only be a benefit for the club.

  1. It`s a rumour the mancs don`t want g/b to win, so Suarez won`t start the season with lfc, so they will all be cheering him on. Typical mufc supporters, most are from the south anyway

  2. Wonder if Suarez can influence Cavani to come to Liverpool but will Cavani fit into Rodgers style? He is kind of target man player.

  3. keep dreaming mate we can hardly afford the likes of Allen what makes you think we can pay over 30 mill for Cavani and pay top notch wages on top, besides Man City, Madrid, Chelsea would pay a lot more.

  5. I think FSG might pay for someone like Cavani. FSG got the money but they are probably afraid of bad signings. As much as I love King Kenny, he wasted the biggest transfer kitty any LFC Manager ever had. FSG are more conservative now, they don't wanna rush and sign inflated players but they have the ability, like they signed Carroll. How can owners without money can sign players at last minute for such huge money? DC and KD are still giving FSG nightmare and they won't trust on any manager again so early. But with the likes of Carroll and Aquilani outta club I see LFC saving around 25mn in a year in wages and transfers income, so money is/will be there soon.

  6. agree Vyas, i think they have the money to spend Liverpool FC don't want to waste any more money on over rated and over priced players. If a quality world class player is being sought i think the money will be granted

  7. Getting rather boring, the way some of his cheerleaders are still coming out with these comments in the media (even if they were prompted to do so). Suarez put in some decent work rate in this tournament but overall, his occasional dribbling aside, he has been poor in this tournament. So much for the boos motivating him, Cavani (and Cavani was even worse).

  8. If LFC can pay £20m for Downing and Henderson and £35 for Carroll, Cavanis a bargain at £30m if Allen is worth £15.   Were just crap at buying and selling these days...

  10. It isn't just the Evra affair, that was the icing on the cake. His petulance, diving, rolling about, hair pulling and failure to act in a respectful fashion (despite telling his manager he would) stuck in the craw of most people. Hopefully he behaves with more humility next year because he's a ticking timebomb.

  13. I think the booing is a lot more boring than people (quite rightly) speaking their minds....

  14. Sorry. I forget. He's been found guilty of speaking Spanish.

  15. Both booing and people speaking can be just as repetitive as each other, just like some people's sense of humour...

  16. For the love of God and all that is holy on Earth!!!!! what a piece of narrow-minded, garbage news eating douchebag you are!!!! Did you eat all of that from the press? Are you even capable of thinking critically or do you just let the press spoon-feed you all its crap?

  17. Are you serious? If Liverpool wanted to pay 40 million for Allen they could, but they don't want to repeat splurging out cash for players again like with Carroll and Downing.

  18. Yes Peter, it really is that frustrating to hear people munch away on secondhand shit only then to regurgitate it in the fashion of Chinese whispers; worse and ten times more outrageous.
In these times of twitter and the Internet one has to stand out somehow, so why not just be repulsively exaggerative?
    It seems to be catching!
