'He's special!' - Boss responds to LFC interest in exciting Barca star...

Liverpool have been actively pursuing Cristian Tello for the last few months, ever hopeful that a deal could be concluded. Reports in Spain recently suggested that the youngster wanted to stay at the Nou Camp, and now, Barcelona boss Tito Villanova has publicly confirmed that Tello will not be leaving the Nou Camp anytime soon.

Speaking to Reporters on Saturday, Villanova was asked about rumours linking Tello with a move to Anfield. He responded:

"Tello has never been on any list of players we wanted to move on. It was clear to us that he’d be staying with the first team.

"He is a player with some special characteristics, he’s young and he has to improve, but he has the ability to open up the pitch and to take a man on. There are very few players at that level".

So there you have it: another one bites the dust. To be honest, Clint Dempsey would arguably be a better option on the left at this stage, and I remain hopeful a deal can be done before the transfer deadline.

  4. Hi there. Thanks for posting :-) I wrote about Remy yesterday, and I agree with you, I'd love to see him at LFC. He's definitely for sale (his club publicly confirmed that), but it look like Spurs are interested, not LFC.

He scored 12 goals in French league(not a very good stat) arsenal brought giroud who scored 25 goals an he struggled to score...

  6. I heard that Tello decided not to come because he feels Kanwar is too negative and if Kanwar is representitive of the club's fanbase, then Tello thinks we are all tits. Is this true?

  7. You going to blame the club for not signing him as well despite the fact that he isn't even for sale?

  8. All we need is a Torres type player and then I will be happy for the season ahead

  9. He's an idiot. And so are you if 1. you think he's the right man. 2. if you think remy should be signed as the front man is suarezs spot

  12. Same as Freddy and would'nt cost that much " bread "

  13. "Dempsey would arguable be a better option or the left at this stage".

I don't agree with that. I'd much rather see Suarez to the left and Dempsey in the center but each to his own an'all I guess...

  14. Jordan Rhodes would be a good buy, he knows where the net is, and he would be a good price, some one will buy him and in 2 years they will triple their money, should we take a chance? I would...

  15. I meant a better option that Tello on the left, not in general.

  16. apparently we made enquiries about rhodes last week.
we definitely need a finisher, suarez is infuriating at times.

  17. Tello is ok but look at other players such as Dos Santos and Bojan who came out of Barca. They are average enough.

We have given Sterling a debut in a huge game, when BR was under a little pressure after opening day defeat. What an amazing vote of confidence in the young lad.

Surely he will rack up 15+ starts now.

I would assume that Dempsey deal will be done late on in the window, for a price closer to our ideal terms.

  18. I know there hasn`t been much talk, about prem teams looking at Jordan Rhodes, as a potential goalscoring machine, with the step up to the premiere league, but this lads got all the attributes that all good goalscorers have, he`s instinctive, and has the ability to hit the back of the net more often than not? So i think we should go get him before United, City or Chelsea do? We will be so stupid to let this lad show once again how good he his, and like i said miss out on a true goal finnisher. to one of are rivals watch this space!!!!!!!.

  19. I think it's been shown Suarez can't be played central striker. he works better out wide or from deep...

    Dempsey!!

  24. Well, there's only a few days left before the window closes, we need another striker, Suarez is infuriating to watch, can't believe that so many people were saying how great he was against City, had it not been for that free kick his overall performance was simply not good enough, so many times our attack broke down when the ball got to Luis and its not like this has been a rare occurance either.....more like a regular one...

For me he has shown himself to be a very selfish player at times who seems to want to go on random runs out wide, doesn't link up well with others, misfires in front of goal, i don't see how him playing out on the left will help if THAT is how he is going to continue playing....in fact i think he's better suited to playing centrally because he's so selfish with the ball.....

Very questionable performance's from him so far this season ditto last season as well.....albeit for the odd moment of brilliance....hence our desperate need to find some competition for him, perhaps he is waiting for Gaston Ramirez to turn up before he starts playing properly again...?

Whatever it is....we NEED someone else up front, someone who WILL at least provide the much needed goals that we lack.....

    ReplyDelete
  25. We need another winger and a striker for sure! And I feel we need a player that can play left and right back!

Tello was a good dream while it lasted but I could not see it happen to be honest! Promising player though!

  26. Mitzu..... I hope I never have to watch a game with you.. Suarez is a close to God at liverpool.. as for him being selfish I only notice it in the bigger games. 3 assists vs gomel if i'm not mistaken? OPEN YOUR EYES and stop talking OUT OF YOUR ARSE

    ReplyDelete
  27. Close to God? That kind of sycophantic attitude is the problem with today's football fans. Do you worship at his shrine too?

  28. @ Selby Urban - Lol....shocking isn't it..? I mean how DARE i question a near GODLIKE figure like Luis Suarez....Jeez, your right i should OPEN MY EYE'S... and stop speaking OUT OF MY ARSE... :)
But seriously this is exactly why i only bother to post on this site, mostly ALL other LFC sites are completely blinkered re "sensitive" issue's at the Club or within the team like player issue's etc...

There is almost what i'd call a blanket censorship on other sites led by Uber fan's like yourself who think all Liverppol fans should just toe the party line....whether it is right or wrong....

Fact is Suarez had his best period of play when he first joined the Club, the following season his form dipped considerably...and his impressive POSITIVE impact slowly started becoming a NEGATIVE one...

I suggest you watch the City game again my friend, you and your ARMY of Suarez worshippers, see how many errors he makes...see how many times he squanders a good attacking move, see how he doesn't link up well enough with others round him at times...almost like he's oblivious that they're even there to link up with...IF it wasn't for that freekick he would have been largely ineffective...as his shots on goal were pretty wayward also....

Believe it or not i don't take any pleasure in highlighting these things....it infuriates me because i know he is better than that....., no player should be allowed to under perform consistently and get away with it, all iam doing is criticising the guy where i think criticism is warranted, and it is....otherwise we would not be talking so desperately about the need to sign ANOTHER striker.....

  29. his runs out wide, as well as his unpredictability are what makes him such a great attacker- as likely to get an assist as a goal, or at least play a part in an attack.  he's strong, fast and tackles back.  he's a proper nuisance to defences.

the only question mark over luis is his attitude, but probably 80% of the time his hunger means he gets us the ball back.  he barely ever makes rash tackles.  how can you talk about his performances this season after 2 games, and when he's still getting back into the swing of PL football after a summer of internationals.

man city would have loved to have had luis up front for them on sunday.  any team in the prem would.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Man City have Aguero....a player who helped them to win the league.... so im sure they would have preferred to have him up front instead....the quality of Suarez without the bad ass attitude...

Lol just trying to imagine Suarez and Ballotelli playing together... :)

Anyway, i don't see your issue with my criticism's of Suarez after 2 games....GERRARD had 1 bad game against West Brom and was rightly criticised for it.....

AND if me memory serves me right Suarez (in the same game..) missed a couple of sitter's did he not...? I mean its not like this has been a flash in the pan mate....at least be honest about it Suarez has not been playing well consistently (for us..) for a long time now.

Last season he under performed and it seems like he is intent on doing the same this season, yes he played well in the Europa game but our bread and butter is the prem and he hasn't been cutting it.....

By his own standards he is/has been under performing....the only reason a top Club would want him would be because of his potential....and the hope that they could get him performing to the level we know he can play at....but hasn't been....

I'd swap Suarez for Aguero in a hertbeat tbh.

  32. again a poor and misleading title.. the most important information from what rodgers says is the fact he is not in his wish list. this is what should have been the title if this article instead of what you have written

  33. He was never even for sale. Why do you write this tripe???
