'He wants to leave!' - Ferrari confirms €11m LFC target wants Prem move. Bid?

Lyon star Aly Cissokho has been linked with Liverpool several times this year, and the player's Agent today confirmed that the coveted left-back is ready to leave France.

In an interview with France Football today, the defender's agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, said:

"The preference would be to depart. Aly wishes to discover a new challenge. If he has to stay he will and will do his job, but if there is an opportunity he will seize it. The priority is England or Italy. However, there have been no concrete offers as yet".

In May, Ferrari admitted that 'English clubs have been observing the player', and soon afterwards, Lyon released a tetchy statement insisting that the player would not be allowed to leave on the cheap. It read:

"Contrary to what has been written in French and Italian media in the last days, negotiations with clubs will not begin for less than €11m [£9m]. Lyon would like to remind clubs that Aly Cissokho has played 91 Ligue 1 and 29 Champions League matches at the club and became an international for France after joining from Porto in July 2009"

Jose Enrique is Liverpool's only senior left-back right now, and he basically has no one challenging him for a first team spot. Additionally, the Spaniard's form tailed-off dramatically in the second half of last season, so it would be good for him to have some real competition next season.

Granted, left-back cover is not the highest transfer priority this summer, but it should not be ignored, and from a squad-building point of view, Cissokho for £9m would appear to be good business.

  1. Would be a great addition, cant see it happening though, for financial reasons. Enrique has been a worry for the past few months, and no one to challenge him for his place.

  3. We're not going to spend 9 mill on a player we dont need

  4. I think this would be a good move as when pushed we could throw the lad at centre back, he has a good jump.
Plus this would help rubbish the apparent tag of Liverpool being racist

  5. Erm Sky have this fella a 5.0 player rating on the low side for someone with so many appearances.  Checked out a you tube video and Cisokho is good in the air, pacey  has a good work rate.  Would certainly be suitable to give Enrique a kick start.  £9 million might be pricing him out of a move though. However he's only 24 and has his best football ahead of him.

  12. Your choice in a perfect world. Tell me when the last time Liverpool and the Toffees did buisness ? Anyway our owners are to busy strengthening their real love, Red sox . I hear they once spent 90million on two players a few years back. Time to fire up and deliver. No more bullish*t about how we can compete with anyone in the transfer market.

  13. A decent left back is definitely required, but understandably not the number 1 priority. Enrique seems to have picked up where he left off, and looked poor in the preseason games I saw. Maybe a loan deal will be a realistic option if the lack of transfer funds rumours are to be believed.

  14. Nope. Every player makes mistakes in games but his class is apparent every time he touches the ball.

  15. In fairness 90million USD is about the equvilate of 50million Pounds! FSG spent close to that for Downing, Henderson & Adam last season.

  16. I agree. With FSG's current transfer (money) policy. Not going to happen.

  18. Not Liverpool, we  had only one manager that only
signed one black player, and that was his mate.

I mentioned this back some time ago and was castigated for saying it.
I stated that Dalglish only ever in his entire career signed one black player be that at LFC, Blackburn,Celtic which is ODD
    Rafa Signed Babel BTW though.
