Last week, Gianfranco Teotino - Fiorentina's director of communications - made it clear that star striker Stevan Jovetic could leave the Serie A club 'if he wants to', and urged interested clubs to make an offer that 'matches his value'. Well, reports in Italy today suggest that Liverpool have put in a bid for the coveted striker.
According to respected Italian Newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool have put in a €22m bid for Jovetic, who grabbed 14 goals and 3 assists in 32 games for the Viola last season.
The report notes, however, that Fiorentina have a higher value in mind, and are not willing to enter negotiations until the Reds raise their offer.
Jovetic was close to a Liverpool transfer during Rafa Benitez's reign at Anfield, and since then, the Montenegrin international has been constantly linked with a move to the club.
Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Guerini insisted recently that the club would consider selling Jovetic:
"The word 'untransferable' doesn't exist. If an indecent proposal were made, and it is possible that one will arrive, then we would take that into consideration."
Fiorentina finished 10 points above the relegation zone in Serie A last season, and a move to Liverpool must surely be a more attractive option that staying at a struggling Serie A club?
Jovetic is definitely a realistic transfer option, and if he wants to leave, the Reds must be in with a chance of signing him...

If you're talking about the new third kit with orange trim...
ReplyDelete*puke*
Great news if true. If we get him and than A Johnson and Ramirez than were in 4 good season. YNWA
ReplyDeleteSuch cynicism! Those two games completely overshadowed the previous 17 months of underperformance, and provided compelling evidence that Carroll is on his way to being one of the world's best strikers. The balance, composure and technique...
ReplyDeleteBrings a tear to the eye.
Let's be realistic. Any player worth more than €22 million is going to attract Champions League level clubs who can probably pay him more than we can as well.
ReplyDeleteWhy would he join us?
Schrulle is the one to go for as he can play in 6 different postions is too footed faster and better all round player than Jovetic, although beggers cant be... so I would happily take either
ReplyDeleteNot just that... Only a world class striker could score such a magnificent goal at international stage.
ReplyDeleteIf he scores for England...then he is world class.
Don't worry about his form for Liverpool, the goal is scored for England has justified his, may I say meagre, undervalued price we payed for him.
AC to score 35goals next season and win Golden Boot. When City then offers us £93 Million plus AJ & Lescott, we will reject the bid out of player loyalty.
(too much? lool)
They could have at least made the trim red!
ReplyDelete22mil? Don't think he is worth the price. BR is targeting players in the region of 6 to 10mil. Another doomed season lies ahead it seems.
ReplyDeletei was told by another poster that carroll would 'a revelation' at the euros when i criticised him awhile back.he really proved me wrong didn't he?
ReplyDeletei reckon we could resign heskey and people would try put a positive spin on it
Has some altruistic rich supporter given the club some money? if not this rumour is going nowhere.
ReplyDeleteJovetic would be right at home wearing purple :]
ReplyDeleteI would prefer Boudebouz and he comes at about £7M as well as being more versatile in roles but then i don't expect either to be bought!
ReplyDeleteThis 'rumour' was exposed days ago as a deliberate hoax designed to see how far an utterly bogus rumour seeded on the internet would spread. Good to see that at least 72 hours after the rest of the world wised up this website still has its gullibility on (or are you fully aware of what garbage it is and just chasing web traffic?)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, more websites are linking him with Chelsea than Liverpool. :(
ReplyDeletenice hair
ReplyDeleteBoudebouz is quality i agree and the right price!!!
ReplyDelete22 million Euro for a bloke that can only just score 1 in 3 while only getting 3 assists, at least Suarez got a bag full of assists. Seems like more overpriced players that hardly score to me. Spurs got a bargain with Gifi.
ReplyDeleteboudebouz would be better value all day long.
ReplyDeleteWould like to see him at Anfield. Got bags of ability. Don't see him as a replacement for Carroll though, as Jovetic is at his best playing in the hole. Though I would have thought one of the bigger Serie A clubs would be interested.
ReplyDeleteNot for me this guy. Good player but in my opinion not cut out for the premier league. I could see this guy going missing in games as soon as he got a kick. He's also one of the worst divers I've ever seen. Any little contact and he hits the deck. There are better players available who are more suited to our league.
ReplyDeleteif it didn't have the tribal desgin i think it'd actually look quite impressive...
ReplyDeleteLet said if Jovetic i would prefer Agbolahor...hmmm least he more possible transfer target n value...least Agbolahor got pace got skill got finishing...n cheap
ReplyDeleteShut up
ReplyDeleteWho told u that?
ReplyDeleteI'll shut up when you answer the question....
ReplyDeleteIF we get Jovetic, Adam Johnson, Ba we will finish 4th for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd guys our serious threats are arsenal. Newcattle and Tot. Hotspurs are overrated teams.
Liverpool unlike arsenal and tottenham are holing onto their best players. Van Persie, Modric,VDV are sure to leave and we still have Suarez. We need Ba, Jovetic, Tello - and then i personally promise u that we will finish 4th.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool are not so low as people are demeaning them. The large no of london clubs mean that the london clubs will find it hard for points to come in derbies.
ReplyDeleteEnam - please do not tell other posters to 'shut up'. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBR needs some time and have to give a second chance for our player
ReplyDeleteSorry i was a bit harsh- its just hard to see that lfc's own fans are demeaning them.
ReplyDeleteApart from Suarez and Skrtel, nobody wants any of our players. If you believe Milan are seriously considering buying Carroll you need an intelligence check to quote King Kenny.
ReplyDeleteWhat has that got to do with anything? Why are you talking about London clubs? I asked why Jovetic would turn down Champions League clubs to join us
ReplyDeleteI'm not demeaning the club, I'm realistic. Why don't we just go and get Messi, Xavi, Ronaldo and Iniesta while we're at it?
ReplyDeleteAre jovetic and Messi the same?
ReplyDeleteis this guy a goal machine that they'll refuse 22mil they crazy they can keep him for all i care we'll get someone better for that amount even younger someone we can rely on for the next 3- 4 seasons to come. stay in italy we dont need you
ReplyDeletetoo much football manager mate.
ReplyDeletehe's no where near to jovetic in terms of ability.
Yes Carroll got a chance to be a revelation at the Euros didnt he?
ReplyDeleteGet off the lads back, if you cant see the improvement he made though out the season in terms of touch and confidence then go an re watch the games.
Liverpool need a good attacking 3 .. Suarez + Javetic + ?
ReplyDeleteJavetic would be a good skilful player I wouldn't mind seeing him at Anfield. Carroll I think would be okay to bring off the bench for a different option, but he has a big ego so won't probably like that idea.
I agree- I think the purple with the bit of orange is different and striking. The addition of the white and the weird design on the sleeves tips the kit into the shite category.
ReplyDeleteSo nobody would want Reina - Agger - Johnson - Skrtel - Suarez - Carroll - Gerrard - Enrique - Cole - Aquillani - then you need to check why so many cklubs are interested ......
ReplyDeleteyou may be surprised to know that their are still a few players with respect, and self respect, enough to recognise the significance of a club beyond money
ReplyDeleteWould be a fabulous signing but I can't see this happening. We'll probably buy (the inconsistent) Scott Sinclair instead.
ReplyDeletethats just stupid. i doubt if city could buy them. but if every club had the same money, ask yourself, would players rather join the 5 times european champions, or for example, never won nothing hotspur .....
ReplyDeletecertainly will be doomed if all our fans have your attitude
ReplyDeletenobody can win with you people on here. if we go for sigurdsson you say we are unambitious and he isn't good enough. we go for jovetic and you say why would he join us. grow up. this is liverpool football club, who along with barcelona, real madrid, ac milan, and bayern munich, are the big five of european history
ReplyDeleteone crazy comment
ReplyDeleteeveryone is getting linked to mr abramovichs shopping spree, but he can't buy them all :)
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is thinking Jovetic would be replacing Carroll....he either plays off the striker in the hole or else as an attacking midfielder....he is not an out and out striker...and never has been. He was wanted by Rafa alongside Aqualini to play while Aqua recovered from his injury...before the Americans pulled the rug with the transfer funds...!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Phil, What are you on? Do you know the difference between an opinion and an attitude?
ReplyDeleteAnd if a fan has an opinion, it is an opinion only. there will be no bearing towards an outcome of a football club.
Get real.
Other than you RedWill, that was the most idiotic thread of posts...each person trying (and hopelessly failing) to make some clever sarcastic comment. As tone of voice doesn't come across in print, you lot would do better to just say what you think (rather than the opposite). Let me exemplify: "I think Carroll actually did well at the Euros, took a great goal with limited opportunities, and I choose to see it as a promising sign. So to echo RedWill, get off his back."
ReplyDeleteGet real pal. Stop living on history. We are talking about now. today. Nobody gives a hoot about history. You are as good as your last seasn
ReplyDeleteAnd who did spurs just sign, oh yes
ReplyDeleteGylfi Sigurdsson, and wasn't he a supposed first signing for BR )if some corners to be believed, a dead cert), a player that was wanted at LFC and then chose to go to spurs. There are plenty of players that have chosen alternative clubs to go ply their trade, other clubs rather than come to LFC. The fact is our history is pretty useless when it comes to securing players, the modern players are nothing more than commodities used by their agents to secure vast sums of money to line their pockets with.
Valid question; however, he might come to LFC for
ReplyDelete1. His current club is not in CL & not sure that his future club 'll be guaranteed in CL
2. Every CL team has multiple options, his total game time 'll be much more in LFC. It's very important for a 21 years old growing player
3. He is still very young, starting for LFC (with no. 10) 'll help his career much better than sitting on the bench, even for Real
4. LFC can still offer him quite a good salary, which can only grow if he can come to a globally viewed & supported club
5. If he wins CL with Real, Berca, or MCity, the show 'll be stolen by CRod, Messi or Auguero; if he takes LFC to CL, a new Totti 'll be born
6. Still, even if we are relegated, playing for LFC is playing for LFC.
Poster add, if I am missing anything
you lot are a bunch of pricks, carroll will come good and you will all look like mugs. support your player knobheads, stop dancing to whiffy bellend kanwar's tune. KANWAR IS A MANC SAUSAGE JOCKEY. KING OF THE BELLENDS. KANWAR LOVES PENETRATING STRAY DOGS WITH HIS MEAGRE TODGER.
ReplyDeleteGaston Ramirez, Stevan Jovetic, Ryan Boudebouz, Matias Suarez, Alvaro Morata, Benedikt Howedes and Burak Yilmaz are players we are linked with that impress me and if we move quick may have a shot at getting.
ReplyDeleteRamirez is the one we might get prized out of.
A player like Benat from Betis can help us in the possession dept. as well.
We have enough homegrown British but if we must Adam Johnson amd Sturridge are possibilities but I would much rather we experimented with cheaper and more technical players from the continent.
Think Alan Dzagoev maybe worth a punt as he is only 21.
I hope we bring Sterling, Suso and Coady slowly into the setup as well.
We will need depth as we have Europa as well in addition to the Cups.
A top 4 should be the priority this season and with Van Persie looking like he will leave and Spurs also possibly unsettled with the uncertainty of Modric, VDV and of course AVB, this is our chance to step up!
ander herrera - jovetic- ramirez - adam johnson- dzagoev- luuk de jong - boudebouz etc etc- loads of quality still out there. Don't get hung up on gylfi!!!
ReplyDeleteMORE CRAP TO LFC
ReplyDeletethat's me told me then.
ReplyDeletei bet you're wearing a carroll jersey and watching his lfc goals on youtube.
To get top 4 Rogers will have to inplement his philosophy quickly, keep the spine of the team and with a fit Lucas back we will hopefully be there or there abouts. We will also need 4 strikers! Carroll, Suarez, Yilmaz and Jovetic maybe rotating in a 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-1-2 depending on who we play.
ReplyDeleteMF will be a headache to pick with Aquilani and Cole also back. Henderson should only be cover for Lucas though. There will be no room for Adam, Downing and possibly Cole and Maxi if we do get some of the targets mentioned. The key is penetration so finding very good passers, dribblers with pace will be key.
THEY NEVER COME TO US
ReplyDeletemaybe we should spend 35million on him instead.
ReplyDeleteMcDermot-esque!
ReplyDeleteMight clash with Carroll's pony tail though
There is one thing that Liverpool can guarantee top players if they come to us - game time. If you go to Chelsea, City, Arsenal or United you might be sat on the bench. Beleive it or not this might influence some players decisions.
ReplyDeleteHe scored a fantastic goal in the Euros, did ok for himself in a rubbish team playing in a rubbish old school way!!!!
ReplyDeleteJK Am very disappointed by some of your recent derogratory comments about Andy Carroll. You also wax lyrical about Liverpool's style of play when BR has held only two training sessions with the few players who've returned. - Surely you must be referring to Swansea's style of play?
ReplyDeleteUnless a club comes in with £35m (plus) would it not be wise to back off with the personal attacks and allow Andy the same opportunity as all the rest of our players. Fairness and an equal opportunity (to satisfy the manager) is certainly my understanding of Liverpool's style of play.
If you cannot await his judgement on them I ask you, meantime, to put all your considerable efforts into redesigning Liverpool's third strip of which you also disapprove - even more than Andy. I'm sure Warrior would be pleased to receive your submissions.
Yeh remember watching Jovetic a few seasons in the CL. The guy was only about 19-20 and looked amazing already
ReplyDeleteJovetic is a hell of a lot better than Sigurdsson. The guy starred in the CL at about 19 that last time Fiorentina was in it. He's quality. Sigurdsson has had 19 decent games for Swansea,he's hardly proven class.
ReplyDeleteyeh and devoid of a brain. Agbonlahor is useless.
ReplyDeleteI think a bunch of LFC fans are going to be pleasantly surprised when FSG stumps up to the cash for a player like Jovetic. I'll say it every day until it's proven otherwise: the owners are still happy to spend cash on players they know will help the team. Sure we got burned last season but that's why they fired Comolli. If they don't trust the manager, scouts and transfer staff that we've got now what's the point in even being involved? We all know the price of quality players these days and if that's what the market demands then that's what we'll pay. We are not going to be a second rate club, the owners have made that very clear in every statement they make. That means they know what it will take, Rodgers will know what quality of players we need to buy and the final price, be it 10 million or 30 million is what we'll pay if the target is genuinely worth that much. The only thing last season will mean to FSG is that they will be more careful with their signings, but there is a difference between being careful, wanting to pay the right price and then just being plain spendthrift for no good reason. The only thing that I see being different is that we won't pay over the odds like we did for Downing, Henderson and Carroll.
ReplyDeleteActually, you're right. Carroll does play as if he had someone on his back.
ReplyDeleteRealism is the very last thing to appeal to LFC fans. They much prefer the bubble of unreality they have existed in since God knows when.
ReplyDeleteJovetic is an absolute star and can play up front or out wide i say yes even if it were to push the great Downing onto the bench.
ReplyDeleteSchurrle would also be a great buy but i cannot see him leaving Germany.
Pardon my ignorance, but all this talk of strikers make me wonder, should
ReplyDeleteAdam Morgan not be given a chance?????
So what if he is?
ReplyDeletecount his goal n compare with ours...with 2nd tier team he played constantly provided goal for last few season
ReplyDeleteIT WASNT CARROL,S FAULT FOOLGLISH PAID £35 MILLION POUNDS FOR HIM :{ HE HAS ZERO CONTROL ZERO ABILITY ? JUST THINK £80 MILLION POUNDS FOR CHARLIE{FAT BOY}ADAM,STUART{I CANT TAKE DEFENDERS ON}DOWNING,JORDAN{MR INVISIBLE}HENDERSON,ANDY{ZERO CONTROL,CANT BE ARSED}CARROLL ? THE MIND BOGGLES :{ THEN FOOLGLISH GOES AND TOPS THAT BY GIVING JAY{HEADLESS CHICKEN,LIABILITY}SPEARING A NEW CONTRACT !!! WHAT A DISGRACEFUL MANAGER THAT FOOLGLISH WAS,CHEERS FOOLGLISH FOR DESTROYING ARE FOOTBALL CLUB :{ WALK ALONE...
ReplyDeleteThe answer to your question is, when agents start to tell the media that this club and that club have approached them with offers, then state that a club has approached them with what is a unrealistic offer, IMO its just a club or agent trying to sell thier player for a unrealistic price to the highest bidder. Although Stevan Jovetic, is a decent player within the Fiorentina team, in the Serie A, He`s untried in the EPL, so if LFC did have intentions to persue Jovetic, the asking price is a little high in my opinion, for an unproven player who would come with a big risk, for the reported €22m. IMO Brenden Rodgers should play it safe and go for a reknowned EPL player ie Demba Ba, the buy out clause within his contract, is less than half the reported asking price of Jovetic, and with the added advantage that he has proven he can play at the top level in the EPL, its a no brainer in my eyes, and i know BR could secure his signiture, within a week or so, if he did it would be a fantastic bit of business for LFC and Rodgers. But i can only dream for now. LFC4EVER.
ReplyDeleteI think Demba Ba, C, Dempsey and A, Johnson, would be really good business on behalf of BR. Lets keep it real. lol
ReplyDeleteWe're not prepared to pay the going rate for anyone, so it's not going to happen. If he's any good, he'll sign for another club, because they'll pay him realistic wages.
ReplyDeleteSigurdson's wage demands were 'unrealistic' in the opinion of FSG. Swansea and Spurs didn't think so.
If we know this, the opposition know it, too, and the players' agents know it.
So your mentality is that we should only concentrate on average players because there's no point in going for the good ones? Great way to get back into the champions league.
ReplyDeletei'm sorry,i clearly rumbled your secret crush.get a sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteSwansea were offering less it was not until Liverpool joined in that Sigurdssons wage demands go through the roof Rodgers himself decided he wasnt worth it.
ReplyDeleteright well... reading through some posts on here I'm shocked to the general stupidness of some peoples ideas as to who would be a good player for us.
ReplyDeleteJovetic is a fantastic talent and would be extremely interested in going to liverpool as he wants to test himself in the best league in the world, playing for a world class football club in terms of reputation and with new ambition and his style of play, a realistic chance of playing most games, with the best supporters around (maybe they are not on here).
But yes would fit well in a three prong attack
jovetic carroll suarez
One hell of a creative, forceful and skill full front attacking line, could easily be the best in the league in terms of threat and skill.
On the people slating carroll the improvements he has made are like night and day. Bad opinions on him are based on when he was out of form and not finding his feet... Now he is totally different in terms of fitness for one and has found his feet and form. For the price liverpool paid people are just hoping it was a waste and he fails, but you lot should probably start opening your eyes rather than living in the past on him as soon your opinions son blinded dislike will soon be exposed.
And finally as for the quality of the squad liverpool last year were hitting the frame of the goal for a record amount of times by the end of the season if only half of those had gone in they would have been in the champions league, Liverpool out played over 85 per cent of there opponents last year in terms of possession and clear cut chances fact.
So with a few additions to the squad a couple of tweaks here and there liverpool could easily be the force they were with out results last year but even better.
For the chap talking about sigurdson choosing spurs over liverpool stop in that thought process straight away. He chose a bigger pay day over liverpool not club. A liverpool player is required to have more about him than money thoughts.
For all you doubters and doom and gloom merchants and general leg pullers i believe your hopes of liverpools demise may force you to return back to your hiding holes quite soon. As the style the new manager wants to bring to the club will be an attractive option for most professionals out there and the without question huge pull of liverpool football club.
Thanks Paul
