What a goal! €20m LFC target scores vs. UAE. Next stop Anfield? (Video)

Earlier this evening, Liverpool target Gaston Ramirez scored a superb free kick goal for Uruguay, who came from behind to beat the United Arab Emirates 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Reds striker Luis Suarez was also in action, and deservedly predictably, he was booed constantly throughout the game.

€20m-rated Ramirez has been persistently linked with a move to Liverpool over the last few months, and his Agent is in London right now, allegedly negotiating a move to an unnamed Premier League club.

With Suarez and Sebastian Coates already at Anfield, Liverpool would seem to have the advantage in the race for Ramirez, but as we all know, money talks in the modern game, and like most self-serving mercenaries footballers, Ramirez will probably sign for whoever pays him the biggest salary.

Anyway, until a decision is made on the Uruguayan's future, here is a glimpse of what Ramirez could bring to Liverpool next season (skip to 1.40 for the goal):

  2. What point are you trying to make by writing things then putting a line through them

  3. cant see us spending that amount of money till we get some of the dross from wage bill tbh i expected few to have left by now but hard to do deals when you know your taking big hits on what you have payed an other teams struggle to match there wages

  4. Typical Liverpool, though. Linked with a player for ages, fanny about trying to sign him, then he scores a goal that will have ten other clubs sniffing about him by tomorrow morning....

Just a moot point, Jay. Why was Suarez "deservedly" booed?
I know those loveable Mancs will say it was 'banter', 'good humoured', 'pantomime', but to me it was just inane.

    A bit like Manchester......

  6. Well according to you he's coming. I'm watching this space and hoping your right.

  7. This might just be me, but if he's in london negotiating a deal, doesn't that mean LFC are out of it and he's either going to arsenal, chelsea or tottenham?

  8. Yes because it's impossible for anyone from Liverpool to get to London to have a meeting isn't it!?!?!?!?!

  9. I think His Agent is Uruguayan, so apart from negotiating a deal, he would have also wanted to watch the Match tonight. So I guess he is in Manchester, not too far from us at all.

  11. I'd like to ask the same question? Cheap shot at Suarez ?

  12. I really think he is going Tottenham, they have a long tradition of stealing Liverpool targets even when they did not need them or just because! I will not be getting my hopes up about him coming to Liverpool, I really hope he does but I doubt it, BR will probably be moving for Dempsey and Allen instead spending like 25M! I would sign Ramirez, Afellay, Capoue, Kjaer and Belhanda, sell Carroll, Spearing, Cole, Downing, Bellamy, Adam and Skrtel (does not want to stay) and play 4-4-3 with GK: RIENA LB: ENRIQUE CB: KJAER AND AGGER RB: JOHNSON DM: LUCAS CM: GERRARD AND BELHANDA (OR AQUILANI, HENDERSON OR SHELVEY) FRONT 3: RAMIREZ, SUAREZ AND AFELLAY(OR BORINI)! Thats what I would do, but it won't happen YNWA

  13. From the highlights, I thought some of the UAE players played exceptionally well, & some of them have skills that wouldn't look out of place in the BPL. They would not cost a hell lot of money...worth a try?

  14. if jaimie was wrongly accused of something and punished for it. he would just keep quiet and not retaliate because that would be the right thing to do.

  15. Jamie is a Liverpool FC supporter, (really)????

  16. £15m is a lot wiser to be used on this guy rather than over-rated Joe Allen IMO

  17. Suarez should be booed constantly. Not because he deserves it. He thrives on it. Get the most out of him. Bring it on you mancs.

  18. He is sad bitter Liverpool supporter who needs to find a new hobby.

  19. Instead of Signing Allen , Brendon shold Sign Gaston Ramirez
I think he will bring some improvement in Liverpool's squad

  23. And your point is...what, exactly? Suarez has defended himself several times in public, the most recently being last week. I didn't say anything. Plus, I actually defended him during the Evra situation, and wrote a very detailed post outlining why I believed he should appeal against the FA's ruling. So again, what is your point?

  24. It is a fair point, though. Why travel all the way to a foreign country but choose an airport 210 miles away from the one you could have flown to.....?

Sounds like his agent is hedging his bets.

  25. Players in: Gaston @ 20, Dempsey @ 10, Boroni @ 10 , Allan @ 15, total spend: 55 mill. Seems like a lot of money but. Players out: Carrol @ 17, Downing @ 10, Adam @ 7, Spearing @ 2. Total: 37 mil. Or a net spend of 18million. I woulds also think that Cole has to move on. 90000 a week! Must be having a laugh. Not bad business I would say. Nobody can deny that those coming in would provide more skill, penetration and would suit BRs style better. Also those coming in are young with sell on values except for Dempsey BUT, with him you get shirt sales in US, he also builds his profile and brand in US market, in 2 to 3 years he will move back to MLS, and a large % of his purchase price could be recovered.

  26. Liverpool have offices in London in case people don't know!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. when did they open that???

  28. Several years ago under H+G to make it easier to meet business partners and all that jazz..............100% true!!!

  29. no way we can't afford him

  30. Clever stuff by the FA today, concentrating on the "abusive and threatening" behaviour of a certain Mr J Terry, and then making a secondary charge of "using words in a racist context".

Anyone who still think Suarez was not stitched up big time is either so PC they book an appointment to fart, or Paul McGrath......

    ReplyDelete
  31. That wasn't an Office, mate. It's the High Court. They can't keep popping in there whenever they want.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Remember when Molby or Barnes used to take them, and you'd think "We'll score from this" with almost 100% certainty?
Nowadays, whoever is closest to the ball I just pray they don't humiliate themselves too much......

    ReplyDelete
  33. His point is that you keep making sly digs at him. There's enough people trying to hound Suarez out of English football without your help. That's all.

    :)

  34. A move from Bologna to Liverpool would surely represent a large salary increase.

He seems to have a good understanding with our best player.

Seems Spurs are our only rival. No room at Chelsea, not expensive enough for Citeh, Man Utd are adequately represented in his position.
