Liverpool target Jakub Blaszczykowski has signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, bringing an end to speculation linking the Polish star with a move to Anfield.
Liverpool's interest was confirmed on Blaszczykowksi's official website last week, but in a statement a few days later, the 26-year old made it clear he had no intention of leaving Dortmund. He told Kicker Magazine:
"I am under contract with Borussia Dortmund and I am feeling great. We are actually in talks with Michael Zorc [Dortmund's general manager] regarding a new contract. I really have no trouble staying on for longer than [June] 2013. I have had five great years at this club thus far."
It seems Blaszczykowksi is a man of his word, as Dortmund have just announced on their official website that he's signed a three-year contract extentsion. The midfielder is clearly delighted with the deal:
"I am very happy to continue to be in Dortmund. There are not many clubs that have so many people who have managed what we have done over the last two years. I am very happy with the new contract."
Blaszczykowksi is a quality player and it would've been interesting to see him in the Premier League, but given Dortmund's success over the last few years, the chances of Liverpool actually signing must have been pretty slim.

Were we ever really interested? Just because the player('s agent) said so? Maybe in order to squeeze as much money out of Dortmund as possible?
ReplyDeleteTitle of this news is a bit harsh imho. ;)
he claimed interest to get more cashish at dortmund. hes not the first guy to do it.
ReplyDeleteHow do we lose out when a player decides to stay put?
ReplyDeleteAnd Liverpool are interested in signing me too - must be true then eh?
Sigh...
I'am Polish and I think It's a good news, he's not good enough
ReplyDeleteSo if i come out and say id love to play for LFC does that make me a target too? These stories are such rubbish, if you want people to visit your site why not say LFC are interested in Lionel Messi? If your gonna lie then go big or go home!
ReplyDeleteWe probably didn't have an interest but we do miss out on targets it seems more than any other top team? Ramirez is the one I want but it won't happen due to price, same for Adam Johnson, we r struggling to buy clint Dempsey, top four a long way away I'm afraid to say
ReplyDeleteThis player was never a target, never mentioned by the club at all. Only ever bigged up by his agent and the player. Have you seen my website today I have confirmed that Liverpool are interested in signing me do you think they are.
ReplyDeleteThis is just more rubbish designed to lead LFC fans to believe we missing out on transfer targets which is not true
We have not got the money coming in from the champions league so we have to be creative with out signings, look at the prices the KD spent over the last 18 months, none of the players he spent money on were worth those prices, over the odds for adam, downing, carroll, henderson. Let the new boss identify his targets and then bring them in. May have to shify some dead wood first but just seen the werner interview and he says there is money to spend but its not a never ending pot. May take a few years to transform the fortunes. KD and comoli have a lot to answer for with the over the top buys.
ReplyDeleteFulham will hold out for the highest price so they will do anything in order to push the price up. Eventually Dempsey will put in a transfer request. END GAME.
ReplyDeleteAdam Johnson has been a long time rumour who's astronomical wages will turn any club away.
Gaston Ramirez also just another rumour.
Don't believe everything you read...
Don't think that this guy was ever on our radar. Just the usual garbage churned out by the media. If we were to believe every bit of so called gossip, Liverpool would be able to turn out at least two teams comprising only midfielders !! Just leave it to Brendan, he knows what he is doing.
ReplyDeleteNothing secial - average player no big loss JK
ReplyDeleteThe problem with a headline like this is all the knee jerk fans will call for rodgers to be sacked because we haven't signed every one we have been linked with. We have signed players on the back of good tournaments ( diouf and salif diao) who turned out to be crap, so im not bothered by this.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a matter of us not having the funds and more a matter of not been seen as total mugs that will pay over the odds (like last season). If, for example Andy Carroll does go for £20m, that would be enough to bring in Johnson, Ramirez or Walcott, so making out that we're skint means we won't get over charged if/when we do make a move for one of them.
ReplyDeleteFSG are bring in cash left and right at the moment (Warrior Sports deal, Standard Chartered deal, Chevvy deal, US Tour, Being Liverpool etc), so I wouldn't believe we're as skint as they're making out.
You are so full of excrement
ReplyDeleteExactly!! A pathetic title for a fan site, sort of thing I would expect from a tabloid!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really bothered to be honest either, we didnt loose out because I don't think we really wanted him and he is nothing overly special anyway. Chris de Burgh's a Liverpool fan and a little lepricorn told me that apparently we are going to sign him to play just of the strikers now thats a rumour to start
ReplyDeleteIf an Agent claims LFC interest in a player then it is news. Whether it's true or not is irrelevant, and depends on whether you choose to believe what Agent's say. After writing about LFC for years, it's my experience that there is truth to what Agents say publicly 90% of the time. Why would they lie? It makes no sense, especially since people who run football clubs are not stupid, and know how things work in the real world.
ReplyDeleteThat makes no sense at all. How does claiming interest automatically = more cash for the player? It doesn't - that is a total myth.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Depends on the player.
ReplyDeleteRooney did it successfully at United and it has led to greed from their young talent - Pogba, Wellbeck, Fryers etc
Suarez will get an improved deal with Liverpool after the Olympics because we fear losing him, mainly because someone is inventing / leaking all the rumours about him to panic Liverpool into giving him better terms.
Someone is trying the same thing with Skrtel only that it's not working. An offer of £15 million and he's sold.
Why would agents lie?
ReplyDeleteBecause they make their living off every signing, contract extension etc.
Every comment, whether true or not can eventually add to their bottom line.
Kuba is an excellent player, I never really believed the links over the years but he would have been a brilliant addition. Best of luck to him
ReplyDeleteI think Liverpool were interested in some point but only to get him as a bargain buy, and it was pre-Rodgers as I doubt he would go for him.
ReplyDeleteI personally never seen as a very good signing, really don't care about him, I want Liverpool to focus on younger players instead.
Looks like Arsenal could be getting Cazorla :( Would love him at Anfield
ReplyDeleteI dont know if we ever were interested in Kuba but definitely a player we could have done with, he has lightening pace but can also cut inside effectively, unlike the likes of speed merchants SWP.
lose out . typical jk headline
ReplyDeleteIsn't it only a transfer fail if we bid for the player and we get turned down by the club/player or if our bid is gazumped? We failed with A Young and Phil Jones, but hardly with Kuba as we never bid. Jaimie are you seriously saying that 90% of the time agents are telling the truth and have no motive to lie? Just this past few weeks Rodgers and Redknapp have talked about agents stoking up interest and exaggerating transfer links. Agents have very big reasons to invent rumours. If there are contract negotiations going on, a rival club being involved will help strengthen your case. "Kuba wants to stay, but you know LFC are interested. They are willing to offer 80k pw. Give us 85 and he'll stay". As has been said, agents get a huge slice of their fees via contract renegotiations as a player will generally get transferred once every 3 years, so an agent needs another big pay off in between then, hence contract negotiations.
ReplyDeleteSurely Jaimie being one of the more inquisitive bloggers, you don't take 90% of agents on face value...I mean would you trust Eric Hall? It's no different from Max Clifford drumming up stories about Simon Cowell, so nobody thinks he's gay. It's all about exaggerating stories to help their client maximise their earnings. I'm not saying all agents are liars but seeing the percentage of transfer rumours (usually perpetrated by agents) falling by the wayside, it is reasonable to guess that they are not always telling the truth.
Your level of trust is impressive, I would love to be your lawyer or MP.
Guy who wrote this u r a bit of a bell end u must know this so do us all a favour dont write anything else . Thank you .
ReplyDeleteyeah that is the way to manage to top four! Fu..... arsenal is getting Cazorla for 15m, and we are "torturing" to buy a fu..... Alen for almost same price:((( Not saying they already got Giroud, and Podolski...Our only hope is to get fourth spot (sounds bad, but place behind utd, city and god damned blues) so we could next year get real reinforcement...And now you see arsenal, and in some hand spurs also, have better team than ours, and we are trying to get player like Allen, with all due respect, is "middle" player, hoping he will lead us to CL. I know i am sound like a troll, but i am tired of watching posts every day, hoping to see some progress in transfers, but only thing i see is "we will try", "we can`t" , "it`s hard", etc... Same time, believing medias, our best players are on brink to leave. And at the same time its possible that we can get humiliation from spurs next sunday. F@K!!! I DON`T KNOW THE WAY OUT OF THIS SITUATION!!! I am a true RED, and i will always be with the club, but this situation is making me so sad...:((( YNWA
ReplyDeleteTbh, Adam wasn't really over the odds, he cost less than 10mil, which in the current marketplace, is peanuts. However, British talent is overpriced, which is funny, because the majority of British talent is crap. Keep the transfers that Kenny made, at least for a season or two as they will add much needed depth to the squad. Of course there is money to spend, but the money to spend is money that LFC alone brings in, they are not going to dip into one of their other franchises to finance our transfers, that is bad for business, they wouldn't take our money to finance the purchases of players for the Red Sox either.
ReplyDeleteThe link that was most likely to come off and very nearly did was when Rafa was linked with him, back when we were successful and Dortmund weren't. Now the roles have reversed a bit, he won't move and I'm not sure whether he is a Tiki Taka style of player
ReplyDeleteBit of a bell? What does this even mean? But good way to get yourself banned mate. I don't particular like the "journalism" that "guy" does either, but to come out and call him names, and not even use correct grammar, bye bye.
ReplyDeleteI am glad we didn't buy him. I watched him playing in Euro. He is a good player but in many ways similar to Downing!
ReplyDeleteTransfer fail! Why that is twisting the truth as it was never a fact. For somebody who talks about truth. Liverpool-kop fail
ReplyDeleteWe failed with A Young and Phil Jones, but hardly with Kuba as we never bid
ReplyDeleteYou see, Carroll9, this is the issue right here: how do you know LFC bid for Young and Jones, but not Kuba? No one from LFC stated publicly that those bids were made, but you're happy to believe the press, yet you question me for believing Agents (!)
Re my '90%' comment: I've been monitoring Agent comments re LFC for years and on most occasions, there is truth to what's being said, but often, you don't see the truth of their comments until months or years later when someone connected with the club confirms interest in a player.
Prime example: Stevan Jovetic. Constantly linked with LFC for the last 4 years. At the time his Agent claimed interest, people were skeptical, but a few months ago, Rafa Benitez admitted that he tried to sign Jovetic when he was at LFC, thus confirming the Agent's prior claims.
That's how it works - Agent comments are usually confirmed after the fact. Of course, there are a minority of Agents who blatantly exaggerate all the time but that's just the way it is.
I don't believe everything Agents say, I just report what they say, and it's down to readers to decide if they believe it or not.
Why would agents lie. It makes no sense!!! ZOMG. In this one comment you show, really, why you shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard to comment on LFC or regurgitate other news pieces on LFC
ReplyDeleteand add a quesion on the end to make it "your own".
I'll give you one reason of many why they'd lie. TO PROMOTE THERE PRODUCT, the 15% they get on every pay check or transfer, for the fre cars ad houses ad whatever else they get to sweeten things, @During contract negotiations with his current club, a players agent suggests LFC want to sign him . . . Duuuuur I wonder why!! Oh to get a better deal for said player and himself. Why do a load of no mark players get linked every transfer window, to give the column inches from DUMB writers, to allow them exposure, that may get them a move to a lesser club, who'd never heard of them before. You're a lazy hack Jaimie and generally disrespectful to the club you say you support. You facts are oft wrong and most of your posts are negative in the season and tabloid trash in the summer.
The headline "Transfer Fail!" is, in a way, a failure on the writer's part of his failure to oversee the fact this player is as only good as Stewart Downing. Well we dont want plays as good as Stewart Downing. Im glad we didnt sign this average player who is only worthy to play in an average football team, like Everton.
ReplyDeleteO dear we missed out again.
ReplyDeleteStory must be true because Blaszczykowksi's own web site says it's true.
Never mind Jamie , one of your stories will be true soon
OK then, we failed with Gylfie. That's a transfer fail in my eyes as we were beaten by Spurs. Although, we were linked with Kuba, doesn't mean a bid was forth coming. Plus the Kuba link is pretty old, not a Rodgers link (I think it was Rafa or Roy that may have been interested at some point). Once a new manager comes in I tend to dismiss the old targets unless the new manager hints that he still wants the said target.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not with A Young but with Phil Jones it was widely reported we put a bid in, although not 100% official. Whereas with this Kuba guy absolutely no mention at all of a bid at any time. I take rumours from papers with a pinch of salt, but pay more attention when they say there is a bid. Rumours are easy to spread, but confirming a bid takes more balls. Not saying so and so may/will bid, but actually saying a bid has been submitted. Still wouldn't totally trust it, but for me that's more concrete than saying so and so is "interested".
All I'm saying is that we are linked with about 100 players each summer, a good chuck of these links come from agents and a vast majority will turn out not to be true. LFC just don't have the time to deny or confirm every rumour. Agents and journos know this so often spout a load of nonsense. I'm not saying we were not interested at some point in Kuba, but to call it a transfer fail is harsh as there is no evidence at all that a bid was placed. And in my book you can only fail a transfer if a bid was turned down or a player chooses elsewhere after having talks ala Sigurdsson. You can't fail if you don't try.
The Kuba link is not old; the player's Agent stated that Liverpool were interested *now*, and he said this last week.
ReplyDeleteI will always believe what an Agent says over press speculation. I believe quotes, not sports Journos trying to fill column inches.
You say it was 'widely reported' that LFC made a bid for Jones, but that means nothing. It could've been The S*n that started thr rumour off, which then got picked up by the other newspapers.
This is why I never post articles based on transfer speculation in the British press. For example, as is often the case almost every day, a British newspaper will post a story stating that LFC is interested in signing X from Y for a fee of Z. No quotes; no source, just speculation. To me, the majority of such stories are meaningless and probably made up.
When an Agent/manager/CEO/Sporting Director makes a public quote about a player, that is far more reliable, and I would definitely report that. Quotes are what matter, not sourceless speculation, and although there is always a risk that person making the quote is exaggerating, the providence of the quote cannot be questioned.
Agents, players, managers etc are involved in football; journos are not.
I don't think anyone would let Škrtel leave for less than 20 mil., not in this transfer window .
ReplyDeleteJaimie, I have 10 years of working experience as a lawyer in professional sports and I know a lot of agents.
ReplyDeleteWhat happenend is likely this: Someone from Kuba's camp met with anybody from the "a close source from within the Anfield hierarchy"-category and briefly discussed any of his 15 players he has more or less direct access to.
"You know, Kuba's had a terrific season. He'll be a mayor success at the Euros, too."
"Yeah, did a good job when Goetze was out injured. Not sure we're looking for a right winger right now though. I think the Kuyt situation needs to be solved first and then we'll see. If we need to buy, Kuba's certainly someone to consider for any big club in Europe, so keep me up to date on developments please."
That's enough to go back and publicly claim "interest of Liverpool FC" without necessary lying or getting sued.
Does that reflect real interest on our part? Hardly. So "transfer fail" is completely misleading.
why has my post on this thread been removed it was not insulting, in fact it was amusing
ReplyDeleteYou are making it out as if I always believe the papers, that is clearly not true as I've stated. As I've said, I don't always believe transfer rumours but do take notice when they say a bid has been made. As I've said not "may" or "will" bid, but "has" bid as they are sticking their neck out slightly more. I know that isn't always correct, but I always take "interest" be it via an agent or newspaper with a pinch of salt.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am saying is that the agents do have a lot of other agendas and will exaggerate or make up stories. My main point however, is that it is not a transfer fail when we have not actually bid for the player. There is absolutely no evidence of a bid and I know you like your evidence.
Plus a lot of journos get their sources from the agents trying to spread the rumours.
we did not fail to sign him because we never tried to sign him 100% fact anybody can say this club or that club wants to sign me but it is far from the truth. Also fact is that your sensationlist headline tries to show that the club failed again which is just not true
ReplyDeleteanother perfectly reasonable post held by the gestapo because it is true and says something that kk doesnt like .
ReplyDeleteJamie Kanwar football genius..lol.
ReplyDeletejk if 90% of the time agents where correct Liverpool FC would sign 107 players in every transfer window. I have supported the club for ove 40 years and since the advent of the transfer window I would say only 10 % of agents comments about the club and players turn out to be correct
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been interested in Kuba since Rafa was in charge. We didn't lose out. Hyperbole at it's finest.
ReplyDeletequite and average player is you ask me! although without CL football its quite difficult to attract the best.
ReplyDelete
