Things are quiet on the transfer front at Liverpool right now, but most fans will be hoping that steps are being take behind the scenes to find a prolific goalscorer to play alongside Luis Suarez. The Reds have been linked to lots of strikers in the last two months, and Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz is the latest goalscorer to allegedly be on Liverpool's radar.
With 54 goals in 77 appearances for Trabzonspor over the last two season, the 26-year old striker is in the form of his life.
Indeed, last season, Yilmaz broke the club's all time scoring record in the league scoring 51% of Trabzonspor's 65 goals.
In a recent interview, Yilmaz revealed his desire to move to Europe:
"I dream of a big European club. I have talked with the technical staff and president Sener and I told them that my dream is to grow as a player.
"We will soon know my future and I hope it will be a good club where I play, but I do say thanks to everyone at Trabzonspor."
It certainly sounds like Yilmaz is leaving, and a comparatively minor release clause of €5m, he's an eminently realistic target for Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.
Additionally, Trabzonspor president Sadri Sener confirmed a few weeks ago that the club had received offers for Yilmaz, and in an interview on TRT's 'Stadyum' program recently, the Turkey International admitted that he would love a move to the Premier League.
For €5m (!) surely Yilmaz is a potential signing that should, at the very least, be considered? I see him as a Nikica Jelavic-type player - a relatively unknown quantity coming from an inferior league, but with amazing potential to score lots of goals. Everton took a chance on Jelavic and that worked wonders for them.
Should Liverpool be looking at Yilmaz?

you are the worst gossip on the internet
ReplyDeleteInteresting but i haven't really seen him play, for that money he must be on everyones list???
ReplyDeleteget him
ReplyDeleteThere was a piece on him at turkish-football.com
ReplyDeleteLiverpool set eyes on Turkish Goal King Burak Yilmaz
http://www.turkish-football.com/news_read.php?id=3013
Mille Clode that comment has nothing at all to do with the article? childish to say the least!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you wrote about him, Jaimie. Many people may not rate him but he has one of the highest goal to game ratio in league after Messi and Ronaldo.
ReplyDeleteI think he is a great player and at peak in his career now. We need to buy someone like him who can hit ground running.
All young and potential players take years before becoming real quality and sometimes managers are fired before the team reach there.
By the way, Tottenham was linked with Yilmaz before some days. It will be satisfying to snatch him.
First while I do expect another striker at the club, we must remember that 'Buck' Rodgers will most likely play with one central forward. If we take this into account and look at his Swansea team Carroll will play the Danny Graham role and Suarez most likely will play the Scott Sinclair role. As for the article I place no hope in a 26 year from Turkey who has failed at both Besiktas and Fenerbahce being any better than what we have (he'll be worse in my opinion). Finally although Turkey is a country which is part in Europe and part in Asia, it is in footballing terms European so why say he wants a move to Europe when he's after a move to a bigger European club
ReplyDeleteluks like a v gud player, similar to sauraz but he has a better finish. i think lfc sud grab him now
ReplyDeleteI don't think any1 will be coming ,we're just linked with every tom dick and harry ,or we would have signed Sigurdsson
ReplyDeleteGood finisher and for £5mill would be a bargain.Would he be able to make the cut in the Prem though?
ReplyDeleteI live in Turkey and i have watched Burak Yilmaz. He is a real good player. He is stong, good in duels, fast and clinical finisher. We need player like this. Worth thinking about the possibility to sign him. Pefect value for the money they are asking. I my oppinion he is at the level of Jelavic at least. So lets not make same mistake.
ReplyDeletemy friend, do you expect Andy Carroll to fit in Brendan Rodgers' passing game just like messi fits in barcelona's?i dont think so!mind you, we want to get back to where we belong(world domination).so for a we dont have that type of striker who fits in the passing game.thats why i think we should get this very cheap striker & another one for back up and competition.maybe you didnt notice,Suarez had no competition so he was relaxed even if he missed silly chances (even a stable penalty), he could still play the next game without fighting for his place.
ReplyDeleteu r right friend,i v been saying the same thing on & on .when will we make the actual moves?gilfy was a god given player to lfc but we let him slip right under our fingers(yet we r expecting top 4 finish).
ReplyDeleteLFC fans, i think i need a reply on this comment.
ReplyDeletewhen we bought Charlie Adam from Black Pool, he was the captain there & was playing good football there despite the fact that he has no pace.dont you guys think he failed at LFC because he was used to the passing game at Black Pool?Stewart Downing is a flop no doubt about that, but as for Hernderson, he has been played out of possition so what do you expect from him? i wouldnt be shocked if i see Charlie Adam been given first start this season, the manager would have seen something in training.if LFC are to play the passing game as of Swansea & Black Pool ,i personally think we are yet to see the best of charlie.as for Downing and Carroll, i really dont see anything from them.but for me which ever way it is ,whoever we sign & whoever we play, i dont care, all i want is to support my Liverpool fc and to see them win like before.
plz reply me if you are a Liverpool fc fan.i do want to hear my fellow supportes' views.
He looks quick, strong and a natural finsher I think this guys is more of a complete striker then suarez and at 5 mill euro's its a snip, tell you what swap carrol for him...lol
ReplyDeletei couldn't get beyond the cheesy techno!
ReplyDeleteThis dude has good goal scoring instincts. Go grab him. A real Bargain
ReplyDeleteHe certainly looks good on YouTube, but so have so many strikers that have been linked to LFC. Having said that, I was impressed by what I saw of Jelavic on YT and so far he has turned out to be an absolute bargain. If he does arrive at Anfield, let's hope he turns out to be a Turkish delight and not a turkey. ( audible groans ).
ReplyDeleteI`m starting to get really pissed with brendan rodgers. What the heck is he doing? Is he gonna sign players or not? He is being so f*ck#ng slow in the transfer market. Every top team in the league has already signed players: chelsea got hazard, arsenal got giroud, man utd got kagawa and tottenham just stole our target sigurdsson from under our nose and AVB just came one day before. There was already a big gap between us and the top teams and if this continues like that we are never going to catch up with them. We need at least 5 new quality signings and we need to offload all these brit sh*ts polluting our squad. I thought brendan knew what he was doing when he forced FSG to give him full control of the transfers and refused to work under a director of football but it would seem that he actually aint got a clue about what to do. Brendan if you are reading this, in a nutshell this is what you should do:
ReplyDelete1. Move your ass from your chair!
2. Sell all the under performers from last season namely: Reina, johnson, henderson, downing, spearing and caroll.
3. Replace them with technically better players who are more suited to play the tiki taka.
note:
1. Dont buy rejects from other teams so no kalou, johnson etc please!
Lets leave this for the likes of QPR and reading
2. Dont buy british players, they do not adapt faster than foreign ones.
Dalglish already tried this stupid strategy. Go ask him what happened...
3. Dont buy players that would not even make the bench in the top4 teams, so no moses, davies etc please...
4. Do your research and look for players with good value for money OUTSIDE the premier league. Just buying players from other teams in the league is laziness. Leave players like demba ba, clint dempsey etc to their teams. Do your own freaking scouting and buy your own freaking players and let these freaking players play for their freaking teams. Show that you have the eye for talent by discovering world class players that others did not see before. They will be cheaper and you can even sell them later on for 4-5 times more, like alex ferguson did when he bought ronaldo for 9 million and sold him for 90 million.
No brainer, well worth the risk.. Look at the risk we have taken on carroll.. Go for it. FC
ReplyDeleteAbout 95% of those goals would be saved by an average Premiership keeper, no thanks
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about the music on these player compilations?! Is there an archive of disgusting, yet anthemic, dance tunes that I dont know about?
ReplyDeleteShocking comment that wrong on so many levels...give rodgers has been in charge for just 2months and you expect our transfer business to be done is deluded. as for dont buy british we cant have a team of non brits due to uefa home grown ruling. id take adam johnson straight away...as for ronaldo bought for 12mill sold for 80mill.players like that are one offs
ReplyDeletedeath die ya fkn moaning cunt stop banging ya sister ya nonse
ReplyDeletenot bad we are link to a lot of players all lfc have to buy is 3 world class players like faclco turan and mebe bring torres back he lookin good on the ball
ReplyDeleteHow does he know who to sell and buy when he literally just started pre-season.
ReplyDeletefor all we know players like cole and aquilani could be perfect for his game plan.
Give him some time. Everyone else buying players had managers from last season and tottenham just offered a high wage with i think could signal the end of VDV or modric at tottenham.
I would gladly sell AC for 5 mil pounds in exchange for this boy. I guess most of us don't know much about this boy but at 5 mil pounds, he's definitely worth a gamble. I think I've seen enough of AC last season, so he's a failed gamble, a miserably huge one.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me for asking but did you not see Swansea last year? Our manager had a big striker up front in Danny Graham (as they did the year before in Dobbie). I'm more than aware when we fell down last year and it became bloody obvious that Carroll had drastically improved by the end of the season. His goal for England against Sweden shows if you give him the right service he will score. It also seems you have forgotten Suarez looked like a fish out of water in the cup final on his own as he went looking for the ball rather than stay up front. If you do a little research you'll discover that while Buck Rodgers will place great emphasis on passing the ball, he doesn't avoid the chance to get the ball in the box and if players don't do this they'll soon be dropped. You say we should sign this guy but apart from youtube clips (which i could make and have Heskey look like Rushie), he failed at two top Turkish clubs and is 26 sp if he's that good why haven't anyone signed him? Buy in haste repent at length or did you forget Diouf?
ReplyDeleteResearch is something you need to do, it's Blackpool not Black Pool and if you'd bothered to look at Adam you'd have been shocked. He was frozen out at Rangers for 18 months! Now trust me the SPL isn't as bad as some make out but it's not better than the Championship. So why did Adam succeed at Blackpool and fail at Rangers abd Liverpool? Well it's quite simple, at Blackpool he played in a 3 man central midfield where he was the man the team was built round, he just had to pass the ball and get forward. This was never going to happen at Anfield as Stevie Gerrard is the key man in our midfield, therefore Adam became a small fish in a huge pool where he'd been the big fish in a small pool at Blackpool. This isn't being wise I checked his career out and hoped we'd not sign him but we did and unfortunately he failed miserably last year.
ReplyDeleteibrahimovic scored 20 goals for barca why cant carrol
ReplyDeleteThe facts belie you. Elmander scored about the same amount of goals in Turkey as did in the previous three years at Bolton in the Premiership. The difference between European leagues is much smaller than most deluded fans in England think.
ReplyDeletelol ..
ReplyDeleteO my God this is just a daft question and the answer is simple we don't have Dani Alves, Iniesta, Xavi and Messi even I would get a couple for Barca. I'm beyond sick off so called fans attacking a player who has markedly improved
ReplyDeleteYeah man, maybe 44? Get some more info on Burak Yilmaz, watch some videos and then make your stupid comments. The lad is real good player, natural born striker. Last season 34 and the one before 20. We can get him for 5m.As it seems we will buy some british ''talent'' for large amount of money and not even considere good bargain deals. Remember Demba Ba, Jelavic?
ReplyDeleteEven if he didnt fit we can sell him without any losses, he is 26.
