Toulouse star Moussa Sissoko admitted two weeks ago that he would leave France this summer, and with Liverpool arguably in need of another dedicated holding midfielder to compete with Lucas Leiva, the France International must surely be a realistic and viable option, and his latest comments suggest that a move could easily be arranged.
Liverpool have been persistently linked with the energetic midfielder over the last two years, and in an interview with regional newspaper La Depeche yesterday, Sissoko revealed that he has gentleman's agreement with Toulouse President Olivier Sadran:
"The President (Olivier Sadran) is a man of his word - We met at the end of the league season [in May], and we came to an agreement: He said that I could leave if an offer came in that satisfied all parties.
"It's no secret that I have a desire to test myself in other leagues, especially the Premier League, which I think suits my style of play".
£17m-rated Sissoko confirmed Liverpool interest in May when he told Reporters:
"I've had contact with English clubs, notably Liverpool, but I preferred to commit myself to Toulouse, the club where I have been educated, to get more experience"
More recently, Sissoko's representative, Bakary Sanogo revealed that he'd received 'interesting offers' for the player from 'Spain, Germany and England'
Liverpool need a top quality, strong, athletic central midfielder, and Sissoko seems to fit the bill:
* At the age of 22, he fits Liverpool's 'buy 'em young' transfer policy.
* He plays for a club that's not in the Champions League, which should make him a realistic target.
* Liverpool lack real height, strength and athleticism in midfield.
* Lucas will need time to bed into the team again, and another season with the likes of Spearing, Henderson and Adam as back-up doesn't sound appealing.
Sissoko's contract expires in June 2013, so there's definitely potential to snap him up for much less than £17m. Worth a bid?

Great player. But The asking price is too much for a backup MF player for the Yanks. No deal.
ReplyDeleteYawn, your really grasping at straws Kanwar
ReplyDeletenever happen, not with allen coming from swansea? although i would wellcome it, if you let spearing @adam go get some cash from these sales and lets get at least 18 million for caroll
ReplyDeleteSpearing and Adam out - Sissoko and Allen in. Wouldn't that be great!
ReplyDeleteWorth a bid ? Yes . Will we bid ? No. We might land Allen , but other than that i think Brendons hands are tied. If only Brennan had Kennys budget. How Spearing and Carragher got a contract extension under Kenny has got me stuffed. How Adam was getting a game has got me stuffed. Don't care about his assists he could have had more if he didn't have the blinkers on and go for the goal of the year most time. Anyway I hope there might be a surprise sighning before the window shuts to get the club and fans buzzing and someone to help the team and compliment Suarez and Borini . Go the mighty Liverpool. Best club in the world.
ReplyDeletei think it could happen.
ReplyDeletethere are funds for allen and dempsey but any other incoming players will have to be financed by selling players, hence the need to sell carroll and to recoup 15-20 million.
spearing did get a new contract but dont think carra got any extension....just has 1 year left....
ReplyDeleteYeah they would look great sitting on the bench. Splashing 17m on a position we don't need someone who will probably pick up higher wages the players above is not something I see Pool doing. Gerrard, Lucas, Aqua, Henderson, Shelvey and to lesser extent Adam will do just fine.
ReplyDeletea cdm isnt exactly an 'exciting' player
ReplyDeleteThat's a matter of opinion, is it not? I have my view, you have yours.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we need any more central midfielder. I think, we don't even need to buy Joe Allen.
ReplyDeleteWe can't accommodate our existing central midfielder and how are we going to fit some more in team ? Jordan had to play on right wing last season as there are too many central
midfielders.
Why do Liverpool need another holding midfielder? Rafa has gone.......... we won't be playing with one
ReplyDeleteyes im one liverpool fan that doesnt see this any diffrent then buy before sell and the last americans with rafa . I like many fans cant see how the italian that we signed who will be good in two years is good right now . Other clubs have 4- 5 fowards it was clear for us all over the world we needed 20 goals a session man up front help suarez . carroll was home sick he thought when he went back to newcastle that they will love him open up there arms that treated him like shit thats when he become a liverpool player. And jonjo shelvey show massive improvment that one day he could replace steve g . dont forget he was injured from most off two years.spearing and adam did bad real bad they need to go we got nothing from wide men. So where is our goal scorer world class our wide men yes allen and sissoko great or gaston which we all want. but the yanks want 30 year old dempsey and cole is like a new signing bullsit he is 32 . why did we let Kuyt go with no testamonial no thanks from fans FSG he is liverpool he is family you dont do that no respect.
ReplyDeletehenderson-big season for him.shelvey-relatively unproven.
ReplyDeleteadam-not up to it,prone to rash tackles because his positional play is dreadful.'will do just fine' suggests we should put up with mediocrity rather than improve our squad and have competition for places.
allen will improve our squad.
ReplyDeleteshelvey will probably go on loan, henderson had a poor first season and i can't see him being guarantted a starting place.
spearing will probaly be loaned out or sold, same with adam.
aquilani is exactly over commiting.
this video wasn't a very good promo was it? can't shoot, can't pass over 5 yards, poor control, falls over, no pace, we should offer £20 mill for him.
ReplyDeleteDon't do that Jamie, you will only gets us all excited haha!
ReplyDeleteWe don't need him - that said just like with Adam and Downing last year they will buy him !
ReplyDeleteat last i finally agree with you about something spearing would be complrtly hounded by the fans if he was not born in liverpool one of the worst players ive ever seen in lfc shirt
ReplyDeleteOk which will bring us more money financially- qual. for CL or winning Europa League
ReplyDeletetotallt agree fsg are here for the money and before people start slagging kenny off we have fallen way behind over last few years actually thought we were unlucky last year.think kenny should have got more time afraid to say it but think rogers will be a yes man for fsg the signings that we are linked to allen; dempsey will not improve our team one bit rather keep caroll than some chelsea reject, cole aquaman your having a laught really hope iam wrong but could be a long hard season we played good football last year so rogers has got to win something more than kk to justify his sacking or run the club on a nice fat profit for the yanks
ReplyDeleteGreat opinions from everyone. My opinion is that our midfield as a whole is pony. Only gerrard and Lucas are worthy of a place. Despite his age, gerrard is still the man. He plays without fear or distraction. He has dragged us through so many games. So determined. Lucas has worked incredibly hard at his game to become arguably one of the best defensive midfielder in the premier league. For me charlie Adam lacks vision. He is too slow, lacks anticipation. Positionally poor. Clumsy tackling usually in front of our penalty box. Poor set pieces and shooting. Spearing is ok, but that's it for me. Shelvey has promise. Lively player. Henderson can be better. Cole is just a no. Aqualani has never wanted to play for lfc- hence 2 seasons on loan. Waste of time. Downing- 0 assists 0 goals. Great £20m purchase! Maxi was our most creative midfielder and he's gone . Kuyt gone.
ReplyDeleteOut: aqualani/cole/downing/spearing/Adam minimum
In: players who have skill, trickery, pace, composure and determination to really push this 4-3-3 system and lfc forward .
jason one question i wasnt kenny fan but like all supporters love the legand kenny.but sacking him i know people will say he wasted 100m i totally agree. The part kenny did bad was buying english players a world class players price. rodgers is looking only at players that he managed at low price bargins . we all seen that liverpool needed a goal scorer that would get us 20 goals we all cryed out for world class we sign a player that will be good is that what we need now . we are been made out to be so dum with joe cole hes fresh like new dempsey owners want him at 30 . stadium were is it rodgers is no diffrent right now then Rafa benitez and when kenny got sack 75% fans wanted him back . we are wanting gaston and tello like hell?we are told how good team going in america its mostly kids there . the owners dont want great team or club they want profit on sponsors and just to be competative. we need back up in every postion we dont have it or world class forigen players.
ReplyDeletelets have a good clearout befoe we buy again spearing adam henderson shelvey they are all second rate get rid first
ReplyDeletelook what impact C Teote had w NC..
ReplyDeleteexciting is a player with flair cdm dont usually have them
ReplyDeletesome very good points you make about our midfield.
ReplyDeletewe have some very average players and we'll struggle to offload spearing and adam aswell cole and his massive wages.
at least cole is an inventive player but whether he can have an impact remains to be seen.
Lucas Moura = exciting
ReplyDeleteWe will play with 3 in midfield, and one will be capable of being disciplined defensively like Busquets or Xabi
ReplyDeleteSpearing looked good in Lucas role v Toronto, looked like he understood exactly what BR wanted from him.
ReplyDeleteGood backup for Lucas.
Hendo is a blank canvas. With skill, good passing and shooting and the ability to run all day. We are lucky to have him, he will be a revelation under BR, he is malleable.
Shelvey can also achieve something.
Downing - don't care if he leaves
Adam has slow feet alright, not like the great Xabi, but you are being unfair by stating he has no vision.
ReplyDeleteHe has a wand of a left foot and amazing vision! Google Charlie Adam Motd and then have a think about how you define vision
See my reply regarding Charlie Adam and vision below
ReplyDeletekenny bought players on the yanks instructions eg young british and that is why the prices were high rodgers doing much the same buying potential rather than class.dempsey will please there american audiance cole just waste of space big mistake to sign him in first place
ReplyDeleteForget about your affelays, Ramirez ,sissokos etc cause we ain't goner get any players like that. All our signings are coming from teams that finished below us in our own league and players rogers has worked with before.if rogers had his way we would have 3 Swansea players in our team now at least. Were Swansea really that amazing last season? They finished behind us and we had a dreadful season. Norwich finished on the same points as Swansea so how come were not getting Norwich players? What makes rogers more special than lambert? Lambert has learnt barca's secret to Tika taka football like rogers has yet Norwich finished on level points. Surely that was an even better achievement considering Tika taka is so much affective and lambert didn't use that philosophy lol.I know what rogers is trying to do. He wants his whole team from last year to play for us so we can finish 10 th again lol. Would Swansea of done just as well or better this season if rogers stayed there ? That we will never know I guess. He's only had 1 season in the prem so far.I really hope he can be a big success with us but I'm not building my hopes up just yet.I'm not too keen on our new signings Including Allen so far. If Wales do have such a special player in Allen then surely team gb should have a good chance on going far in the Olympics also maybe Wales might qualify for world cup cause Allen is that special. Yeah right no chance
ReplyDeleteCorrection to my last post I meant lambert has not learnt Tika taka
