After a disastrous league campaign, Liverpool face the depressing prospect of a third season in a row without Champions League football. Failure to qualify for Europe's elite competition has cost the club significant amounts of money over the last two years, and that is set to continue next season. Something obviously needs to change at Anfield, but as the latest club accounts show, FSG plan to stick with their vision for the club, irrespective of Champions League qualification.
So - what are FSG's priorities for Liverpool FC? John Henry has spoken at length about his vision, but the club's goals are also captured in the latest accounts:
It's great to see that LFC's number one priority is good quality football. You can look through the accounts of all other premier league clubs but none of them state that playing style is the most important goal.
We've already seen evidence of a 'positive' playing style this season, but there's definitely still room for significant improvement, especially when it comes to core attacking skills, i.e. conversion, crossing, shooting, and set-pieces.
It's also refreshing to see that increasing revenue is (seemingly) only the third most important priority. In an age where football is predominantly about greed, maximising profit and ripping off fans, it's heartening to see that the club is trying to be different in this regard.
In my view, FSG have made quite a few significant mistakes since taking over at Anfield, but the group's priorities seem to be perfectly aligned with the way things should be done at Liverpool.
Strong leadership is required this summer, and some tough decisions need to be made - including (IMO) a change of manager - and if FSG can do these things, then the club could be in for a bright future.

i really dont care about "positive playing style", we need results and Kenny himself, has said that Liverpool need to start to win ugly.
ReplyDeletethe future is bright!who are you and what have you done with the real Jaimie?! just kidding its nice to see some positivity. lets hope FSG invest abit more and next season we can really push on. theres very little margin for error in this coming window
ReplyDeleteIt's true, very good of you to find and publish some positive news about the club for a change.
ReplyDeleteFSG definitely have the right attitude.
If Kenny remains in charge he needs to stop playing players based on their potential, where they are from or how much was paid for them.
ReplyDeletePlayers like Spearing are nowhere near good enough for LFC and were he not a Liverpool lad he would have been out the door long ago. Its time to start playing the players who consistently perform in the league. No more hiding behind cups because in truth this season has been horrendous.
Its good to see the owners demand a good brand of football. Now I wish we could just find a manager who would call as it is, engage with the media and do what a football manager should do and play his best players, prioritising the league.
Oh and a manager who can spot decent talent without paying the world for them would be nice.
lucas is shit
ReplyDeleteHas Jaimie gone on vacation and left a substitute in charge?
ReplyDeleteliverpool will never win anything with a defensive midfielder like lucas
ReplyDeleteHiding behind trophys what kind of idiot are you.?
ReplyDeleteAdrian - if you want to keep posting on this site then stop insulting other visitors.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool? Swimming pool more like. Seacrest out.
ReplyDeleteWould you call this season a success?
ReplyDeleteKenny has pointed to the Carling Cup and deemed it a successful season even though we have been in relegation form since Christmas.
And you say trophys as in plural. What else did we win idiot?
Last time I checked Birmingham won the Carling Cup last season so would you call their season a success?
Which means Europa Cup and Top 4 finish. I suppose.
ReplyDeletePriority for FSG, for the good of the club should b new mngr.
ReplyDeletejust seen a news somewhere that fsg has decided kenny to stay but his budget will get axed, that more misery for us, kenny still here plus no money to buy replace these craps we have in the squad, absolute joke, hope that is a fake news, if its true, im out.
ReplyDeletedisagree kenny deserves another year, if he does not get it right i beilive he himself will step down. anyone needs more than a year except RH he was the wrong choice for lfc, kenny can turn it around and i for one think he can...
ReplyDeleteI agree. The football has been positive this season. I'd like to see Kenny given another season, but if FSG find a man they think better suited to take us forward, then why not?
ReplyDeleteCan't stand you Jamie! Change a manager??? You are not a liverpool fan!
ReplyDeleteJamie, I dislike perfectionists like you. I am sure you are so perfect that you never make mistakes on the job; everything about you is so perfect and nothing needs improvement? Guess what? Your critical analysis needs improvement mate. You are such a pessimist who never reports positives. Let me ask you; if you bring in a new manager and things get worse, what would you say? FSG recently changed mgt at the Red Sox and results haven't improved; I used to like your blogs, but you have become annoyingly pessimistic. I guess LFC would have to recruit you as manager someday so we can see how great a football manager you are. U piss me men
ReplyDeleteWhy does Juanpablos not get lambasted for his retaliation? Is it because he agrees with you Jaimie
ReplyDeleteAnd now I take it back, thank you Jaimie for editing that post. Was beggining to think you were showing favouritism lol.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit that at first I was happy we appointed Hodgson and then I was one of the first people to say get rid of him and bring back Kenny. However, looking at our current form it looks we are no further forward from Hodgson and all we've done is increase our wage bill? We shouldn't have got rid of Benitez because, although sometimes he made some rash decisions (saying he wanted to replace Xabi Alonso being the worst) he had a clear idea of what he wanted to turn Liverpool FC into.
ReplyDeleteWe all know we still need some new players but is looking for bright talent really the right way forward? Jordan Henderson is one of the brightest prospects in England at the moment (lets not forget Man Utd wanted him as well as us) but he has been slated for his performances in most games where he's still learning his trade. We need to bring in some quality players with a bit of experience (Clint Dempsey would be a target for me) and blend them with youth so that we can continue to grow as a club for years to come.
Get me as manager I'll sort it out.
I definitely do care about a positive playing style. Winning and style aren't mutually exclusive. Positive performances can mask underpar results, but obviously results this season have been way too par to be disguised by anything.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if you're playing ugly, you damn sure better be winning a lot though!
strong leadership is required to keep the current manager amidst all the naysayers.
ReplyDeleteJaimie.....nice to see a positive story for a change!!! Cheers...!!!
ReplyDeletePS - Chesey1 has "just" delivered breaking news on the Hodgson/Murphy article...the same breaking news I delivered LAST NIGHT (as a reply to his comment LOL) on the Rasmus Elm article.
Kenny will step down after the Swansea game.... He briefed the players at Melwood yesterday afternoon. Ian Ayre will announce it after the dust has settled on Sunday.
I know you will be happy...I'm gutted.
Oh and I apologise for my previous comments....won't happen again...was just frustrated...!!!
ReplyDeleteRemove the Chappo ban?
ReplyDeleteIf FSG were serious of success KD would be relieved of his duties and a new manager brought in to overhaul the mess KD has overseen.I think its too expensive to replace KD his backroom staff and all his flops. As Rafa will have to bring his own people in and get rid of KDs flops for a massive loss, then buy his own expensive buys to compete.FSG I feel have taken the option ,of we might as well stick with KD his management team and his expensive flops in the hope they come good. Its the cheap option,a lot of fans believe the team will improve so the revenue will still come in to a certain extent. If FSG dont back KD in the summer then to me they are definitely going for the cheap option.
ReplyDeleteI'll remove it if you stop sniping about pointless non-football related issues.
ReplyDeleteTbh what gives me hope is point number 1.. i.e. improve our style of play etc....
ReplyDeleteMy ONLY fear for the summer is a return to the Club of rafa benitez...that would IMO negate that proposal...as well as bringing up a lot of division amongst the fan base....
IF Kenny has to go then so be it BUT please FSG for the love of God, bring in a new manager to the Club with fresh ideas to move the Club forwards NOT back....
sorry Mark I didnt see your posting saying what you said about Dalglish resigning so if he does you said it first fair enough but rumour sweeping city centre now in the pubs by workers having lunch.
ReplyDeleteIf he goes everyone will want a tried and tested manager from a big club but Roberto Martinez is the one I would go for (my opinion only)
All I can say is we have a similar philosophy....stated Martinez on numerous occasions recently.
ReplyDeleteIf we don't get him and let him establish himself as a top manager at LFC another top european club will...Unai Emry another shout.
Controversial 3rd choice - Slaven Bilic...he's leaving Croatia job after Euro's....
The first and last of those aims require visiting the transfer market again, although it would make sense to start incorporating more of the youngsters next term also. Hopefully it means an end to this buy British policy which contradicts both aims. Whatever happened to this idea of buying a quality asian player?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you reckon the chances of Dalglish leaving are? If rumours are to be believed, the transfer budget seems to be shrinking as the months go by (admittedly they are just rumours). Surely any new manager will want to bring in his own players. If there is insufficient funds for that, surely it would be difficult to attract a worthy replacement.
ReplyDeleteI echo the comments about being positive for a change, Jaimie, but be careful what you wish for regarding the manager. FSG sacked the manager of the Boston Red Sox after a very poor end of season in 2011. He was a World Series Winner. Under the new manager BRS has made a disastrous start to the new season, especially at home ( hello? familiar? ).
ReplyDeleteThose goals seem kinda wishy-washy and not hugely specific to me. Not to mention the first two seem to be intended to get fans onside. Still, if we can get some players in who can convert the chances on a more regular basis improvement won't be hard to come by (though getting players who'll do that might be).
ReplyDeleteGuess we're still in the wait and see mode for now.
The pubs round Dale Street and Castle Street at lunchtime are a great source of info about Liverpool and Everton. You hear all sorts many of which came true, for as long as I can remember. Today I was in a pub in Tithebarn Street, the Railway. Everyone talking about it, the Ship & Mitre another good pub for info.
ReplyDeleteSadly the 3 hour Friday lunch has gone they make you come back now haha but we didn't have the internet now to amuse us then.
A couple of years ago a bloke from a major bank said in the Slaughter House at lunchtime that Everton have just bought US$ 9.5 from his bank I expect they will sign someone from outside the Euro zone. We laughed as Everton have no money next day they signed Billy from Russia.
Sadly Simeon there isnt many quality Asian players about, there about as rare as an England cricketer born in England, maybe Honda thats it. How many Japanese and Koreans have come over here and vanished after a short stay. Park at Man Utd is probably only one who made it and he doesnt exactly set the world alight.
ReplyDeleteSo basically same old, same old generic aims. Hope they fulfil it as we have neglected the commercial attraction of this club for the last two decades, especially when compared to Man United have exploited their brand potential really well. We are playing catch up but better late than never.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see us play like in the mid 90's (the Roy Evans era). Extremely beatiful football :)
ReplyDeleteWell I can't see Honda coming to LFC, may be before Charlie Adam's arrival. That much is sad!
ReplyDeleteless money 4 kenny and invest in young taiented players wot a fucking joke we have all the young players we need we need players that can come in the 1st team ie a forward and 2 wingers fsg do there know wot they doing and i sick ov fans saying fsg hav spent big bollock 35 millon is not big
ReplyDeletei hope this positive outlook continues on sunday with sterling been given a start.
ReplyDeletehis first touch on weds night could have led to a goal but it was the fact that he cut in from the wing and got on to the end of the flick on was the positive for me,you don't see downing anticipating the play like that.it's the last game of the season and can't do himany harm to give him a start.
go away jamie
ReplyDeleteyoung players get a grip
ReplyDeleteYeah, it would be such a tragedy to bring back the best manager the club has had for years. A man who has given his all for the club and city and achieved relative miracles while dealing with incompetent to poisonous management. Would just hate to go back to that.....
ReplyDeletenobsack
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that for a top club, our scouting system doesn't bring in foreign talent like Falcao the way that Porto does, and now he's priced out of a potential move. Porto bought him young for €3.93 million in 2009 - and then sold him for €40 million 2 years later. And Porto has done that numerous times over the last decade, so it's not just luck - ie/ Lisandro Lopez (as Liverpool supporters we should all remember him from our last Champions league game in Lyon when he scored in stoppage time - bought by Porto for €2.3M, sold for €24 plus up to €4 in bonuses), Lucho Gonzalez, Deco, and now Hulk is tipped for a big money move... just to name a few examples. If only Liverpool can scout these players and bring them in at a young age when they're relatively cheap and still young enough to adapt their game to the premiership...
ReplyDeleteBenitez was the best we've had in recent years but that doesn't mean that he's the best, or only man for the job moving forwards. I want to win the league. Benitez was not going to do it. Hodgson was never going to do it. Dalglish isn't going to do it.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for a fresh approach, instead of constantly looking backwards and glorifying the past.
i think these priorities are spot on. lets face it, we havent a chance finishing in the top four next season, not with the increased competiton from sides like tottenham and newcastle and the emergence of man city. our best bet is to focus on improving the youth and hopefully in 3-4 yrs we will be back in serious contention for top four. until financial fair play well and truly kicks in we wont have a chance otherwise; hopefully in 5-7 yrs time the fianancial muscle of man city and chelski will have been negated, and our focus on youth development will be rewarded.
ReplyDeletei really do think that ffp is the key to liverpools future. without it, i think our big club (synonomous with top 4) status is permanently dead and we would be heading the same way as leeds nottingham forest etc. have a little faith in the owners, their long term strategy is sound.
Change the manger what are you lot CFC or LFC?
ReplyDeleteIt's grea sayingchange the manager look at AVB young current championship winnerbut unemployed because previous success means nothing.
So rather than get a stranger to do the job in the hope they will repat former sccess stick with Kenny. He is Mr Liverpool.
there was a LFC before Shankly but what he id was instil some core values it i sthose value which eventually brought success success that last long. I want an LFC that do it for decades not a one off wonder like MANC are going to be.
Boston Red Sox currently lie in last place of the American League Eastern Division played 31 won 12 and lost 19.
ReplyDeleteSo why are we putting so much faith in FSG and what they plan to do at Liverpool. Americans are very good at writing things they want us to hear the previous lot are a good example of that
Under their ownership Liverpool have just had their worst league season in memory. Boston Red Sox have gone from World Champions to bottom of the league in the past 3 years.
Below is a comment from a top American baseball writer about them made earlier this year.
John Henry was walking off the stage after a television interview during his team’s first full-squad workout of the spring when the Boston owner was confronted by a lifelong Red Sox fan holding a bright red sign with white letters.
“All we ask is that you make us proud again to be a Boston Red Sox fan,’’ the sign read.
“We’re trying,’’ Henry told her.
From banning alcohol in the clubhouse to apologizing to a wronged player and planning to be “more present’’ this season, the Red Sox ownership group called the 2012 season “a new chapter.’’ The last one was a doozy, one that included a stunning collapse on the field and embarrassing conduct in the clubhouse that brought about sweeping changes to the front office and managerial staff and sullied the team’s image with its devoted fan base.
SOUND FAMILIAR apart from banning the ale
On the basis of these 3 strategic elements -- anyone surprised Hodgson was fired?
ReplyDeleteThe next question is whether, judging on the same 3 strategic elements, the owners will keep Dalglish?
People are putting faith in FSG because what other choice is there right now? Is someone going to sweep in and buy up Liverpool from them? Not likely, they're who we have and will have for the foreseeable future, unless Liverpool suffer a massive, and I mean MASSIVE, collapse then there's little to no chance that they'll pack up and leave.
ReplyDeleteSo we've just got to look ahead with what the ownership situation is now and make the best of it.
im sorry but your post reeks of xenophobia. how on earth you can compare these owners with the previous ones is beyond me- we're still reeling from the effects of their short term decision making ! FSG have a long term plan in place, and the fact they dont waste their time making extravagant promises actually reassures me! with ffp coming into play in a few years, rich arab sheiks will be no use to us and we will thank our lucky stars for the pragmatic owners which we have.
ReplyDeletebeware of short term fixes for long term problems.
sam alladyce for manager then!
ReplyDeletei didnt say they were like the previous owners apart from the fact American businessmen are very good at writing what people want to hear. They seem to thing we are gullible lot who will take all in which we are not.
ReplyDeleteThey have appeared despite their wealth and the fact they have owned the Red Sox for quite a while cocked things up there.
However not for one minute do I regard them as anything but ethical businessmen unlike Hicks and Gillette.
I have worked an American owned company, nice as pie to your face and ruthless as f##k behind your back your 50th birthday present was normally a redundancy cheque.
found a really funny article...
ReplyDeleteFriday, 11 May 2012
There was near-chaos on Merseyside tonight when crowds gathered outside Anfield stadium, the home of Liverpool Football Club, where, earlier in the day, the club announced that it had dispensed with the services of car park attendant Ted Dalglish.
Dalglish,
who has been traipsing the car park at Anfield for more than 60 years,
has seen the comings and goings of all the greatest of Liverpool stars
such as Phil Boersma, Ian Callaghan, David Ngog and, of course, Jon Arne Riise, but, at 91, has outlived his usefulness, and has been shown the door.
"Ted has done us proud service," said one fan who did not wish to be named for fearing of 'grassing', "but he's just the wrong side of 90."
But others weren't so complimentary. One supporter who wasn't entirely happy with Dalglish's car caretaking, said:
"Ah left me car heer beforra derby game against Everton, an when ah came bach, the fuchen thingg wuz up on brix! Old bastard!"
Note: This reporter wishes to point out that Ted Dalglish is no relation to the beleaguered Liverpool Football Club boss Kenny Dalglish, who will probably be sacked soon.
hakeeeeeeeeem get out and don`t come back and take all the other moaners with you i bet you were one of them idiots who called carrol for everything and now he`s brilliant see ya later ya dope
ReplyDeleteI feel that i have to reply to your comment about Jamie. Jamie is probably not perfect but he made some good points. I think his article was positive enough. There is really not a lot of positives this season to be honest other than we won the carling cup on penalties because Anthony Gerrard is terrible spot kick taker. In all fairness Daglish has had to deal with a lot on field and off field issues in his first season in charge, but I think it clear to see that he made a lot of mistakes as manager in player acquisition. If the season started in January Liverpool would be struggling with relegation. I think Jaime is spot on with his article. He is not afraid to call a spade a spade. When there is more good news to report I am sure he will do that. The reality remains that a team of Liverpool's stature in the game is only a shadow of it's former self , losing to a couple of teams fighting for relegation etc. Kenny lucky to have a job has a lot of work to do to build on the few positives we can take from this season. One of which has been the reemergence of Andy Caroll.
ReplyDeletekanwar your a cunt
ReplyDeleteWinning the Carling Cup hardly defines a successful season, we beat CARDIFF on penalties! Sorry but if your'e happy to see Adam, Henderson Spearing and Downing in our midfield next season fine, but forget about Champions League qualification! We need a Manager who won't keep playing these avarage players hoping they will come good, just cos he bought them. When Maxi, and Kuyt leave the squad we will be weaker, just as we were when Aquilani and Miereles were repaced by Adam and Henderson. If Kenny were a career manager he would have been managing clubs for a living, he wasn't. He's a fan being paid a fortune to oversee the decline of the club, he needs to go!
ReplyDeleteI don't think KD is the capable man for taking LFC to next level, which is a top 4 finish, year on year. He is 61 & was 10 years out of club Management. Since his hay days as player or Manager, 20 years have gone by & English football has moved from it's hit & run long passing game. This League is now dominated by mainland Europe & Latin players. Taking out Sir Alex, there is hardly any top British Manager in EPL.
ReplyDeleteYes, sticking with KD is the cheaper solution, because it 'll cost to settle the deals with KD & the new Manager will bring his full set of back room staff; but it's worth spending. Another year of missed CL 'll cost us at least £25mn, as I don't see KD taking us there. He is very much one dimensional & time & again teams have chased us down in second half. Someone correctly mentioned that Rafa knew what he is trying to do, but not sure about KD. Also, KD is an unknown name outside UK & I am not sure how many top quality U19 or U23 players would love to join LFC to grow their career.
I feel, our next Manager should be young, aspirated & educated (gone are the days, when most of the club Managers finished studies at school - Managers today are not only Football Managers, they are actually business Managers). Apart from Rafa, there are few top quality young Managers are available now - Guardiola, Emre, AVB; we should approach any of them. Apart from them, I feel Jurgenn Klopp, De Bore, Deschamps, Blanc (if FFF allows him after Euro '12) are top class Managers to take us to next level.
Personally I think Rafa with some decent ownership would be a fresh approach. He led us to 86 points in 2009. A total that would have won the league the last couple of seasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to throw a fit if he doesn't come in. There's other options. But to not even consider one of the best managers in the world would be a catastrophe. Especially given his close ties to the club.
It's all about winning.
ReplyDeleteWe're hindered by work permit restraints, mate, a player from outside the EU has to have played international football in 75% of his country's matches in the 2 years prior to any British club signing him (unless they are under a certain age, think it's 21, and they have huge potential and the club can appeal against the decision; hence all the South Americans playing in Portugal, Spain, Holland, etc
ReplyDeleteIt can be frustrating when you see the talent coming across to Europe for a fraction of the price they are sold to British clubs for but I suppose it is in place to protect young British players. And we've all seen how that's worked out!
Like the strategy as set out byFSG. Positive football is an absolute must ! The standard of performance at the end of Rafa's reign and under Roy Hodgson was absolutely dire. There was no enterprise or excitement. When Dalglish took over the style of play changed and we had some really good performances, with hat-tricks occuring quite frequently. And then it all went belly-up. New personnel certainly had a negative effect and we were again subjected to dire and mind numbing games. Don't quite know how Dalglish will fund the purchase of new players as he will not get back half of what he overpaid for certain players, who should be shown the door at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteSorry mate, but Kenny Dalglish is known worldwide. Have you ever been out of the UK? I work in Malaysia, the only visiting team to sell out their 80,000 stadium in Kuala Lumpur has been Liverpool. No other club, including Chelsea & Man Utd could manage this.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool need a real savvy operator to make the transfers and cut the deals ...how come other clubs get mugs like us to loan players and pay the wages for them....its about time we started adding clauses left right and center for our benefit.....sick and tired of us paying over the odds in wages and fees....
ReplyDeletelets cheat then.
ReplyDeleteA lot of interesting comments on here today that's for sure. I think that our style of play definately needs to changed. The club was right in making it priority number one. I feel that the club has for too long depended too much on the magic of Gerrard and now Suarez and the same for Torres when he still was with us. If you take a club like Barca they have many ways with which they can kill you. Messi being the biggest threat of them all. What we need are more creative attack minded players who are capable of creating chances for themselves to score or even creating it for their team mates. Many times as I watch the our team I feel like we lack attacking creativity. That to me is our biggest priority to date. We need more creativity which will lead to more scoring.
ReplyDeleteKagawa....
ReplyDeleteAnother ilconsidered and misinterpreting blog. I have kept a close eye on Mr Kanwar's blogs for a week or so and I can honestly say that they are consistent tripe. The FSG strategy elements he refers to are not numbered therefore I fail to see how he can consider there is an order of priority.
ReplyDeleteTo Mr Kanwar, leave writing to the professionals please and if you want to continue with your blogs, please ensure you do your homework first. I'd also suggest you keep opinions regarding the managerial position to yourself, particularly with your evident severe lack of understanding and knowledge.
Actually I think he said 'cups', which at least is a real word.
ReplyDeletePretty much all of his comments were right, too. Calling people idiots because you disagree with them is so typical of the aggressive oafs which so many Liverpool fans have become. Although I realise it's caused by years of failure, I still lament bad manners.
I feel I have a right to reply you as well. It goes without saying that I have followed this blog for sometime, and I tend to see too many negatives without any attempt to acknowledge some positives at least (that is not to say there are no negatives). I am just a bit pissed that someone who tends to use statistics never really considers the effect of unobservable outlier in his analysis. I dont have a problem with changing the manager, but does that solve all of the problems at LFC? What about other statistically significant issues such as bad refeereing dec isions etc? I am just saying you can bring in pep Guardiola and he may still struggle. Jamie has made it a habit to call for the head of the manager as a pre-condition for success. Learning to remain calm in the face of a storm is a virtue which I think people like him need to cultivate. The bad times are there to make us appreciate the good times. I acknowledge Kenny has made a whole lot of mistakes, but where I come from in Africa, we say atimes, change can be the last stroke that breaks your back, so beware!. You can rant about what's bad without citing some of the posistives too. He has always called for the head of Rafa, now it's Kenny and am sure he'll do the same for the next manager. He needs to take a chill pill men
ReplyDeletearsenal play beautiful football, but what silverware have they won recently... dont get me wrong, every team would like to play a great pass & move style like barcelona, but at the end of the day, i will take trophies any time of the week over playing style...
ReplyDeleteForget the new red jersey it should be blue or at least have a red Devil!!! Come on u true fans our manager has had a full season and we have not won the Premiership or the champions league, forget the Man City & Chelsea wealth, the large grounds and revenue at Man u & Arsenal or the 4 years of stability and investment at Spurs, we should have surpassed all them despite that and if we haven't let's blame the clubs most iconic player and loyal servant. As they say on twitter #prodtobered. Sometimes I ask what is a real supporter???
ReplyDeleteOur style of play needs 2 be changed huh??? Are u 4 real choccy did u watch the game on tues? Shredded the rent boys like they weren't there!! We need a decent right winger a centre bk and a world class striker and we will challenging 4 honours! Any1 that wants kk sacked needs 2 have a jog across Stanley park. Some of u lot should b ashamed
ReplyDeleteimho i believe that the only way forward is to bring RAFA back, the man is slated due to his last season but look what he had to put up with, two cowboys, got some of the best players we have seen at Anfield, told us fans wtf was going on at our club, had to get in the champs league to make sure he had money to spend, sell players to buy and finally stripped of all money in the end, no wonder players wanted to leave, really really hoped Kenny would make it work but think his timje has passed....Bring back RAFA ffs, going to have to rebuild anyway two yrs with FSG and the league will be ours!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRemi i can tell that you are a passionate Liverpool fan and that you definately have Liverpool blood pumping through your veins. I myself have followed this club since i was 7years old . I even watched Kenny play. To say that this is a new low in Liverpool performance of all time would be quite the understatement. You make some very valid points in your response, the reality is that when you spend over 100 million yeah that is million pounds on fringe players that wouldn't start in any of Europe's top clubs you will get that reaction from the fans. It is safe to say that the honeymoon period is over for Kenny most people no longer care about his cult hero status, they only care about how he leads the team to victory. Your point are well taken and a lot of people feel the same way you do yes, even the owners do which is why Mr Daglish still has his job regardless of what Jaime says in his blog. If Kenny Daglish did not have cult hero status at Anfield he would have already lost his job. Managing at the highest level is a results driven business, and nothing else. If you can't deliver you are replaced. If Mr Daglish had been working at Chelsea he would have been fired. Mr Roman Abromivich (Chelsea owner) is not a patient man. He spends heavily on his team and he demands the great results in return. Just ask former Chelsea coach Andre Villas -Boas who still got fired even after he got the the dreaded vote of confidence from the Chelsea owner after a string of bad performances by the team. One last point to make is that it is obvious that the John Henry the owner of Liverpool is not happy with Mr Daglish because he failed to shake his hand as he came up to be presented with the runners up medal at the FA cup finals. It is documented feel free to to look it up. Daglish will get his chance to make amends next season so that is more some other coaches have received.
ReplyDeleteShouting for change of manager only does not help. Pray tell, JK, who do you have in mind and more importantly, is he attainable? You seem to be joining the myriad of tweeter generation on spewing venom without actually being, IMO, constructive about it! Fergie indeed pays you well, doesnt he?
ReplyDeleteWhere does it say or reported that KD will be manager next season?
ReplyDeleteNope. I'd rather support Swansea than Stoke. Why watch a game if you're just hoping for an ugly goal mouth scramble and then try and hold onto you're one goal advantage. Fact is that you lose fans when you don't play attractive football, and losing fans means losing money.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough more positive football leads to better results. I'd love to see a more attack minded manager at our club. I'd rather lose one in four than draw half our games.
Its been awful. Hitting the woodwork a lot doesn't count as positive. Completely bypassing the midfield by hoofing the ball to big Andy is not positive. Negative nineties english football. Its like whole sections of liverpool fans never watch any other football aside from us playing. Most of Europe is laughing at us, even in the EPL we are not feared anymore. That alone should be enough of a reason for a change in manager. Its embarassing to be a Red right now.
ReplyDeletei love the he is 61 comment, have you thought that through, fergie, wenger, rednap, 3 of the top 5 teams have over 60 managers so your piont is exactly ?
ReplyDeletewe have a good attacking style, that why we have the fourth best shots on goal stats this season, of course one doesnt talk about positive stats on this board but its exists never the less, its conversion we suffered with.
ReplyDeleteGo watch some other 'top four/six' teams across Europe play and then compare them to how we were against Fulham and maybe you will start to see why we need to change our style of play.
ReplyDeleteTom Werner of FSG has openly stated in an interview that I saw that I saw on Fox Soccer Channel that Kenny enjoys his full support. If Tom says it then you can assume that he is speaking for John Henry too. When FSG took over at Anfield the first thing they did was to bring in their own man and that man was Kenny Daglish. It was a popular move at the time because of his cult hero status. Kenny has since failed to deliver what was expected of him. FSG will stick with him and give him every chance to make their vision a reality. I believe he will get one more season to turn things around. If you remember Daglish was made to write a full report on the going s on at Anfield (some thing very unsual for a manager). In this report he was to state what went wrong with the team's performance , and also what he Kenny would do about it. It highly unusual for a manager to have to write such a report on a yearly basis. It is easy to understand why the owners wanted Kenny to write the report. In light of the Luis Suarez trouble and how it was mismanaged by Daglish it the report seemed like a good move. The report is essentially nothing but a promisory note containing actions Kenny will take in order to turn things around. If he fails to do that sufficiently then he would have indeed hung himself out to dry. Yeah i think Kenny will be around for next season , but i could be proven wrong. In football anything is possible.
ReplyDeletewhat if by december we're already in the relegation battle?
ReplyDeleteSo some of you want a change of manager after ONE FULL season of Kenny Dalglish?
ReplyDeleteIF your chosen NEW manager has a similar year will you want HIM replaced after ONE FULL season too?
Rafa, Hodgson, Dalglish & A New Manager!!!!
FOUR different managers in TWO years is really going to make things rosy isn't it?
Dalglish has made mistakes in the transfer market and WILL (& rightly so) be given another season (at least) to put things right.
If you want 'instant success', go support Man City.
Hey Mark if you read closely MMHS is actually saying that more of the better footballers in the world would play for another manager other than KK
ReplyDeleteso much negativity. ridiculous. no chance of top four in a season that hasn't started ? i'm sure newcastle had no chance of top four looking ahead a year ago. total nonsense most of the comments here. also about 'only beating cardiff luckily', never mentioning away wins at stoke, chelsea, and man city, to get there. time some of these so called fans grew up and grew a set.
ReplyDeleteThe only way forward is to bring Rafa back ?
ReplyDeleteWhat a statement
Clearly you have NEVER paid to watch a
Rafa LFC team play .
Those of you who think Rafa never made mistakes
Clearly are deluded
He got rid of the second best midfielder in Europe for a start
I got stay here till Monday and I would still be listing his mistakes
But the main thing that irritates me about all this
Is the negative comments , from people who've never go the game .
Guys LFC was the greatest club in the works for 30 years
However , the foundations , the platform , to that success , was not laid in one season .LFC built momentum
In the last 6 seasons , this is our best season .
Why ? We WON something .
Good football teams are built on momentum .
Success breeds success .
Those of you who doubted Carroll , Henderson , downing
Now focus on Henderson and downing ?
Didn't you make a mistake in slagging Carroll ?
Henderson will come good . No doubt about it
Downing ? Gives 2 or 3 crosses every game other teams would of scored
To get the best put of Carroll he needs then crosses
Jamie FSG priorites for LFC ? Not bad at all
Lets have a fans priority debate
1 anfield a noise of sound ,like the old days
What's number 2 ?
Arsenal haven't won trophies because their players haven't been good enough, not because they try to play a positive style of football.
ReplyDeleteThere are a plenty of teams winning nothing, while playing a pretty uninspiring brand of football. And winning trophies or not can come down to one single bad performance at the end of the season. I'd rather enjoy the majority of the season (but be competitive at the top end) and win nothing, than hate the football on display all year and still have the chance that my team misses out on a trophy at the end of the year anyway.
If previous success means nothing, why are you going on about "Mr. Liverpool"??
ReplyDeleteLFC made the mistake of sticking with a former legend (Souness) that was out of his depth, and that decision ended up setting the club back a decade as the financial landscape changed due to Sky, the Premiership & the Champions League.
The FFP rulings are going to make it ever more difficult for clubs on the outside to break into the elite as time goes on. Sticking with Dalglish, talking about long term aims and seeing that gap widen in the short term, could very likely have similar impact on the club...
Yes, if a new manager proves himself incapable of just treading water while he makes his changes, then I would want him replaced too.
ReplyDeleteDalglish has made massive, inexplicable mistakes in the transfer market, and WILL (and rightly so) do the honorable thing of accepting that he failed and stepping asideIf you want "mediocrity" and "stability", go support Everton or Crewe.
Hey T-Tommo66, you tell us to go support Man.C if we want instant success, but who do we support for instant improvement please tell me because if you think we improved after 18months and 100mill than my friend you need your head read. KK says that we are back in Euro and we won our first cup in 6 years what he forgets is, this is all from one game(Carling Cup). It's not like we did this by being consistent through out the season.
ReplyDeleteI am sick and tired of people telling other fans that if we want instant success than support someone else, what's so wrong with wanting our great club back to where it was, one of the most feared clubs in the world.
What you fail to see is that we had a great chance to change our future with the money that was spent and KK could not see past English players because they were proven, well they are proven, proven SHIT.
He left players out that earn't the right to wear the shirt and played crap, even when they proved they were crap, so forgive us if we do not have the confidence in KK because i for one believe he is no Modern day manager the game is to fast for him.
Having the wrong manager in charge for too long is far worse than changing managers in order to find the right one.
ReplyDeleteName one world class player who would leave a Champions League club to come and play specifically for Dalglish. You're not able to use players from the 1980's or current members of the MOTD panel...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you totally that football has become more result oriented. You are also spot on with respect to Kenny's player acquisition. Kenny's British acquisitions have let him down. Charlie Adam and Steward Downing especially, given their age. I always thought players like Juan Mata, Mario Gomez and Adam Johnson would have been significant upgrades to the team. As I said earlier, I am not necessarily pro-Kenny, however, I appreciate that sacking him may not be the bullet solution. It is possible that the team plays well next season with 2-3 new players
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me mr kanwar .you don't like it when someone is critical of you .
ReplyDeleteYou ban them from replying .well you don't like it don't be critical of l.f.c
Blackwog:
ReplyDeleteNo manager on the planet can GUARANTEE putting LFC back to where it once was unless they have Man City's finances.
Dalglish was given a 3½ year contract and told to build for the future and he is being written off after 1 FULL season?.......
Truly unbelievable.
2 Cup finals & back in Europe is a good platform to build from considering where we were heading under Roy Hodgson.
Dalglish is as disappointed as everyone else at how the league season went and you can be sure he knows where the problems lie and will fix it for 2012-13 season, IF he doesn't then FSG will act.
The biggest problem is far too many people don't have any patience.
Great idea!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's sack Kenny, pay off his remaining contract and bring a new manager in and if he fails after 1 FULL season, we'll sack him too and pay off his contract and then we keep hiring & firing managers and paying off their contracts until we find someone who does the job.
With all the contracts we'd be paying off (between £3m-£5m per year) we'll either be bankrupt or there would be no money left to spend on players.
Great thinking, wonder why FSG never thought of it?????
Or we could just let Dalglish keep spending £60 million a season for the likes of Downing, Henderson, Adam and Carroll; watch performances continue to decline, suffer from the lack of funds from being out of the Champions League again. We could lose Suarez, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas because they want to play for 'big clubs' too. That would be great for the finances wouldn't it you financial wizard, you.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever thought that few managers could prove themselves to be so grossly out of their depth, that basically no-one could do a worse job with the money spent.
Einstein's definition of stupidity was doing the same thing over and over again, and hoping for a different result. Dalglish seems to think it's just persistance. You appear to fall into the same category.
That was Chelsea's second string side and our full strength side. Big whoop.
ReplyDeleteat this point any new player will add a lot to the team. I understand that Kenny will have less of a budget this time around , but I am happy with one target he intends to get . A 22 year hold Uruguayan by name of Gaston Ramirez. This is the king of player we have been missing at Anfield. This youngster is light years ahead of many of our players in development. He and Suarez being countrymen have a high foot-balling IQ. I think he will make a huge splash in Anfield. I do hope we sign him and two more just like him.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Funny comment, mate!
ReplyDeleteSo as well as writing Dalglish off after 1 full season, you also write off Henderson, Adam, Carroll & Downing after just 1 season too?. Were you one of those writing Lucas & Skrtel off too during their early days? Lucas & Skrtel are perfect examples of the rewards of 'patience' in how good a player can be when given enough time.
ReplyDeleteThe MAJORITY want Dalglish to get another year at the least and thankfully, FSG will give him that time and the financial backing to bring in the players to make the difference.
Changing managers too often will cause a lot more damage to the club in the long term so have a little bit of patience (something you seem to be lacking) and let Dalglish get on with the re-building job that FSG asked him to do.
You may think Rome should have been built in a day but it wasn't and neither will LFC be. 1 Cup, 2 finals & European football next season is a very good foundation to build on and not bad for a club that was almost ruined by Tom Hicks, George Gillett, & Roy Hodgson not that long ago.
I agree no manager can guarantee success that but KK has been quoted as saying that this season has been a success, now if you agree with that than your entitled to that, but if we do not than that to should be respected as well so you and who ever else keeps telling us that we need to support other teams, would be wise to remember that if we all did, than where would that leave LFC.
ReplyDeleteAs for patients you must understand that we have been and when the time came that we finally got things together, not to mention the huge amount of money to spend, he bought average English footballers not to mention the fact he kept playing the same crap players. I don't know about you but when i played football i had to earn the right to walk out on that pitch, not our new boys, the players that had proved themselves were having to try and do it again to me that is very bad management that used to happen back when i was playing junior football and the coaches kid used to play even when he was crap.
So mate you want KK thats fine i don't your going to get what you want i am not, now i really hope that your right and i'm way off because if we stay the same than KK will have set us back that far that it might not possible to return to the top.
ya we cheat and we r sure to be in the same ranks of manure, chelsea and juventus.....hahahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeletei would only say one thing...give jordan henderson some time..i guarantee u that he will be a top quality midfielder in the same line of lampard and gerrard..
ReplyDeletedont put him in the same bucket as you did with lucas leiva some years before..u moght regret ur words uttered today in the fututre..
why does anyone dont say that we have played without suarez for 10 matches.stevie was out for half season..lucas out for half season..agger out for 2 months..glen johnson out for 2 months!!!!did any of the big teams had musch of these injured players during the season???however deception for this season has been downing, woodwork, adam,PEPE REINA,and poor january transfer window management.
ReplyDeletethink we should get luuk de jong or lewandowski...
ReplyDeletewings affelay or ola john
midfield rasmus elm or joe allen
and we should give the likes of suso and coady and sterling more first team chances..
suso=david silva
coady=jack rodwell
sterling=pedro/alexis sanchez
all comments T_Tommo66 yo da best overall people- i like yo comment
ReplyDeleteyo right no manager on the planet can Guarantee putting LFC back to where it was- i like dat.....yo comment was da best overall comments- if was J.Henry i go with T_Tommo66's comment.
