Former Barcelona star Patrick Kluivert believes that Liverpool target Luuk De Jong has the potential to be one of the become one of the best strikers in Europe.
De Jong has been linked with Liverpool several times in the past year, and last week, his Agent, louis Laros, confirmed that the young FC Twente star is being 'closely followed' by Liverpool.
Kluivert, Steve McClaren’s No.2 at FC Twente, has high hopes for De Jong, and when asked about his potential, he raved:
"Luuk [de Jong] is going to be the No.1 striker for Holland in the very near future. He has everything a striker needs. Here at FC Twente we are grooming him for a future with one of Europe’s biggest clubs. He can become a European giant"
Twente manager Steve McLaren is desperate to keep De Jong, but the former England manager admitted recently that the youngster is an ‘English style striker' and is 'made for English football'.
If Liverpool want the De Jong, he won't come cheap, and Twente president Joop Munsterman insisted this week that bidding for the player would start at €15m.
De Jong has made it clear in the past that dream is to play in the Premier League, the question is, will Liverpool be able to get him?
If the club is serious about signing De Jong, the priority is clear: try and him before Euro 2012!

He looks like a really good finisher, something we have lacked this season. Bring him in and let him compete with Suarez, Carroll and Bellamy for a starting place. It looks like Kuyt is leaving so we would need to replace him. This guy could be that player if we can get him at the right price.
ReplyDeleteLet buy him and turn him into a right midfielder!
ReplyDelete€15m , pocket change compared to our recent track record. He knows where the net is. YNWA
ReplyDeleteif we could really get him for that price its a no brainer. we need some guile up front to go with suarez trickery carroll's power and bellamy's pace. i still think we need a winger and another holding midfielder. suso and sterling should be promoted next season to get some much needed first team experience and we should be ok. i really think herderson and downing will improve next season but they need quality competition to force them to up their game.same with carroll. with another option up front there will be less pressure on him and he can focus on his game
ReplyDeleteat that price he comes at pennys he definatley knows how to finish would love him at liverpool but cant see them acting before the euro's falcao would be perfect but would come at neraly double-triple the price at roughly 30+mill if we could move quickly to tie him up that would be even better but would settle for this guy
ReplyDeletehe's shit
ReplyDeletewait a minute- 15 million? for someone with absolutely no pace from the comparatively "easy" erideviese, he is surely overpriced. at 23 goals, he may be the league top scorer but so was suarez - and finishing wise he simply hasnt done it in england. don't get me wrong he looks a good prospect, but the price thats being touted around is definitely inflated. we could buy demba ba (a proven premier league goalscorer) for half the amount.
ReplyDeleteso did suarez...
ReplyDeleteIt's now or never,so move your ass and go get him, now!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewould that be the same Demba Ba that has scored 0 goals in his last 13 starts????
ReplyDeletethe very same, yes...
ReplyDeleteno, but seriously in the first half of the season ba was outstanding with 16 goals- it was only after cisse arrived that he was asked to play a slightly different role which allowed cisse to get all the plaudits. hes a top, top striker.
so did Ruud Van Nistelrooy
ReplyDeleteWould be a decent signing IMO, composed in front of goal, good with his head, looks like he can pick a pass also, not sure about his pace though, hard to judge him on that evidence.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. In fact this summer is going to be VERY interesting...
so did ryan babel. we could go on forever.
ReplyDeleteNeed better if we want CL tbh
ReplyDeletewell mr "suarez", can you do any better?
ReplyDeleteSo did Huntelaar
ReplyDeleteYou're a manc, what are you doing in a Liverpool blog?
ReplyDeleteThe winger, I think its Ola John, looked lively too!
ReplyDeleteDo we've any kind of relationship with Twente?
I noticed Mihaylov was loaned out quite a bit and is now there permanently, plus wiki says they play YNWA before their games..
So did I...
ReplyDeletehe could end up like another Dirk Kuyt or Ryan Babel
ReplyDeletewe have been linked with him for ages, he was top of comollis list, question is will we buy before a director of football is appionted.
ReplyDeleteMclaren is one of Fergie's henchmen.
ReplyDeleteGet the Blackburn boy - he is the one.
