The end is nigh: John W. Henry in Kenny Dalglish handshake snub...

In a moment of supreme irony, Liverpool principal owner John W. Henry neglected to shake Kenny Dalglish's hand during the post-match medal presentation at Wembley on Saturday.

As is customary in the FA Cup Final, the losers receive their consolation medals prior to the presentation of the cup.

On Saturday, Liverpool's players trudged up to the Royal Box to receive their losers medals, and as you can see below, Henry shook Steven Gerrard's hand as he went by:

Moments later, Dalglish walked by, and stone-faced Henry seemed to ignore the Liverpool manager, and failed to offer his hand:

The Liverpool Daily Post carried the same picture and made direct reference to the incident in their caption, which stated: "John Henry and Kenny Dalglish pass each other".

It's pretty poor form for Liverpool's owner to refuse to shake the manager's hand, even though I can understand his disappointment with the final defeat, and the overall poor season.

Earlier in the week, Henry revealed his frustration with Liverpool's profligacy in the transfer market, and after yesterday's handshake snub, things are not looking good for Dalglish.

  1. Finally we can see light at the end of the tunnel...Rafa is gonna be back...great times to return.....love him or hate him Rafa gave us them European nites which still live on.

...what has kd given us....a mickey mouse cup which no one else wanted...

Kd you'll not be missed just like Roy Hodgson

  2. KD should do the right things and RESIGN..bring along your misfits HENDO.ADAMS.DOWNING along..4 of you are the main reason LFC in deep shits..pls go

  3. Although I loved those european nights i really think that bringing back rafa will be a huge mistake instead of living in the past we should look to the future with a fresh new manager you know that they say about returning managers plus every1 just seems to remenber the good rafa times there was also bad ones what can i say people have short memorys

  4. Mali341, tone down the disrespect please. Kenny epitomises Liverpool. He will be missed because no-one, even you, wanted things to happen this way.

  5. The owners shouldn't listen to the fans and make a descision of how to bring in as a new coach on there own rafas return will be no good and this time last year every1 was calling for dalglish look how that turned out

  6. Fine lines. I wouldn't read too much into a handshake.
By the way, the ball did fully cross the line but not the crossbar.
The crossbar and the goal line were not in line.
Chelsea would have had the energy to deal with Carrol had he started so I don't think the late introduction was a tactical mistake. Also, I admire the way Kenny didn't bow to sentiment leaving out JC.

  7. Benitez is 4-1 to be the next LFC manager. if its CL footy Henry wants , Rafa will bring that. if its the re-invigeration of waning players Henry wants, Rafa can do that. if its consisently punching above your weight henry wants, rafa can achieve that. its either that or go for the swansea manager or martinez. we are not going to pull a top name at the moment, with a small spend mooted this summer. rafa ticks all the right boxes, and has most likely learnt that politiking is not the way to keep the peace.

  8. Rafa's heading to Germany or Spain. Forget it.

  9. I couldn't give a damn.  Dalglish has screwed the fans around with his stubborness and lame excuses over this season and God knows what he's told the owners.  Seriously can you imagine a guy spending a net of 40 million quid on something you owned promising to make it better only to make it worse than ever imaginable, and then he talks about needing more money and time?  Really die hard Dalglish fans: how bad does his record have to be for him to be sacked within one season?  Having the worst record since 1954 and four wins at Anfield for 2012 isn't bad enough?

  11. Dear fellow supporters, Do not criticise the owners for bringing Kenny, all Liverpool supporters wanted Kenny, and if they had got anyone else, he would be living in the shadow of Kenny, every bad results would have called the chants for the manager to be sacked, and KENNY IN. The oweners did the most intelligent thing, now if they decide that Kenny's time is up, a new manager can start afresh.

  13. As a player he is a legend and will.always be but when it comes to management...this time round he is worse than Souness ..at least Souness won the FA cup....i don't miss Souness and will not miss kd...but full respect to kd for all he has done for us....

bottom line is LFC is bigger than kd

  14. KENNY IS A GREAT MAN AND WILL ALWAYS BE HAILED AS KING KENNY....BUT FOR THOSE WHO REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME AROUND..IT WAS KENNY WHO STARTED TO MESS WITH TEAM SYSTEMS AND CHANGE A STABLE SIDE FOR EACH GAME..JUST LIKE NOW..NO CONTINUITY IN TEAM SELECTION...THATS WHY SO MANY PASSES GO ASTRAY PLAYERS NEED TO KNOW EACH OTHERS GAME..WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT...FOOTBALL IS A SIMPLE GAME..(AND WE ALL KNOW WHO SAID THAT)...I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT FERGIE AS HAD SUCCESS BY FOLLOWING THAT RULE.....COMBINED WITH HARD WORK AND PASSION....WE LOVE YOU KENNY...BUT THE CLUB IS BIGGER...

  15. KD is a great LFC man & always will be but I would live to see the headline "Rafa back LFC" for next season. RB also loves the club & it's obvious he is hankering for a move back

  16. Playing in a final is always 50-50, both teams (as human) will always try to win match, in this case it was Chelsea, clearly they had better squad than us. But  I personally disagree with the owner negative gesture to neglect hand shake Kenny. Even though I am not a fan of Kenny, I feel he should get appraise for what he was done until reached FA Cup final, it is not that easy as Man Utd, City, Arsenal were failed to do so. Henry should have acknowledge Kenny present there. I feel so embarrassed. This is not a professional way. If I was there, I would be so disappointed. Season did not go well, tactics were wrong, transfer was awful, etc etc.. but do not punish him like this. Kenny is human too..

    ReplyDelete
  17. Doesnt look good for Dalglish, but certainly looks good for the LFC fans who wants to see their team win games.

  18. I see Carrol isn't on the list anymore!

  19. It absolutely disgusts me the way some 'fans' deride Dalglish on here. We were all calling for him to be reinstated last year and were delighted when he got the nod and we started playing sublime football. Those with short memories and the need for instant success should hang their heads in shame.
I'm not happy at the way results have turned out nor am I happy about our league position but, up until the Arsenal game, we were playing very good football. For all Dalglish's tactics have been 'poor' we did manage to beat Arsenal at the Emirates, Chelsea at the Bridge - TWICE, Man City at Etihad and were unlucky not to beat them in the league when we outclassed them.
Squad depth was what was called for and we have that now but when he rotates and we lose, he's an idiot?
The squad is bedding in and has seen a massive transition over the last year. The club as an institution almost ceased to exist a little over 18 months ago, for heaven's sake. All that we have missed badly is a greedy goal poacher. Hopefully Carroll's showing during his 30 minute crusade on Saturday is the way he will play from now on and Suarez can be that greedy goal poacher - we all know he can score goals.
We should revert back to a 4-4-2 with Gerrard sitting in the middle until Lucas is fit and play Bellamy or Kuyt on the right for our last 2 games. All Downing needs to do is find Carroll with his crosses and he can either finish it off himself or lay it off to Suarez. This is how we played for that final 30 on Saturday and it worked well.
On a final note, all those who disrespect Kenny Dalglish should just f**k off and have nothing to do with this club again, you are a disgrace!

  20. Get the Swansea manager

    ReplyDelete
  21. you are rite mate..its not the manger but the players

    ReplyDelete
  22. Why Rafa?- We won the European cup with a team that Houllier build. Rafa made the biggest mistake in the history of Liverpool when he sold Alonso and he was the one to start braking down the team. KD has made some really big mistakes. But one of the things that is troubling our club is the fact that we are always swapping managers. Ferguson finished in 7. place his first season. So either we stick to KD or we get a new fresh manager!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Totally agree. Only six poor games this season. However, the motivation seemed to disappear after the Arsenal game. ManU have had more poor games this season but manage to bounce back. We believe the hype after a couple of good games.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sorry but I have to say that playing Jay Spearing is a no go, good ability buy not all round good enough for top four and the lack of form from the five new acquisitions since last year and the loaning out of Joe Cole to get Eden Hazzard and the madness of the Aquaman sale, probably didn't help!

    ReplyDelete
  25. doesn't take long does it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Its not as if beating big teams is a new thing for us, so not sure why you are hyping up those games. We were a bogie side for the big teams when Rafa was here. Its about consistency and showing up with a proper mentality against the lesser sides that has been the problem, instead of half-arsed attitude. We are not some poxy giant killing cup team that turns up for the big games and cup games....or at least, we shouldn't be for a club of our so-called stature. So the league position clearly does illustrate the tactics have been absolute donkey at times.

Squad depth doesn't mean just quantity, also means quality and also means rotating well (The likes of Maxi and Bellers should have been used more).

Carroll plays well when the team resorts to direct football, which is contradictory to the style that KK gets the team playing usually. Carroll's style requires good wing play, we clearly have that in a abundance(!) So we buy a £35m striker and our main style of play is contradictory to his style. Great(!) Suarez will never be at his best in a crossing team, that is why he is often hovering outside the box looking to link things up in a short passing movement in the last attacking third. He isn't a poacher that waits for crosses, he is a striker that likes to get involved in a short passing game in the last third and drift around.

You can't play the way we played in the last 30minutes on the weekend, in every game because its not every game where we are losing in a cup final, desperate and need to throw the kitchen sink at their opposition team. If we play like that from the start, we'd get picked off on the counter. There is a reason why the likes of City and United don't go full pelt until they need to, as its a last resort that is defensively suspect.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Only six poor games, yet we are 9th in the table.

Must be good old 'bad luck' eh(!)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Kenny deserves another season, we lost our influential defensive midfielder Lucas which has made the difference, shelvey and Henderson were supposed to be bedded in., with Lucas back and match fitness of Andy we would do a lot better, remember gerrard was also injured so has been a stop start season.

    ReplyDelete
  29. every rafa lover, and i think he is great too, please get it into your dense heads..........HE ISN'T COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we must go forward, never back.

    ReplyDelete
  30. KD far to slow to react to situations, anyone could see we were a complete shambles the first 60 odd minutes, no pattern of play and midfield "What Midfield" Should have addressed the goal scoring problem in the season a lot sooner instead of excuse's, we need a spy to find out who Pardew & Wenger are going to buy in the transfer market and nick their players.

    ReplyDelete
  31. he didn't in his last season, irrespective of what was happening upstairs.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Supporters wanted Kenny but at the time  there were no other viable candidates and true to human nature many of those fans now want someone else . Great players do not always make great managers. Kenny has made too many mistakes that was obvious to see from the way he handled the racism controversy  this last season to the formation he employed for the first half of the  FA cup. The formation was wrong and chelsea ran circles around us in the first half. I sometimes feel that we are dealing with a manager who is only just learning how to do his job . I am not surprised that John Henry refused to shake his hand. Legend or not, Kenny is losing support of the fans and you can see that with the number of negative comments online. In my opinion he has one more season to get things right and save his job. The owners care more about what he can do today than they do what he has done in the past, and so do I . Let's us stop leaving in the past people.

    ReplyDelete
  33. er.........no.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Its a shame houllier couldn't get anywhere near to winning it with husband own team but Rafa did...must say something about Rafa then

    ReplyDelete
  35. yes lets get some continuity, lets get a new manager and hope for the best.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Couldn't agree more. But my point is that we play excellent football for a few games and the players seem to believe the media hype about a top 4 finish. We then have a poor game and there seems to be a mental collapse amongst the good (experienced) players in the team. We should not revert to changing our style to accommodate Carrol.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm sure J.W Henry will take on board ur comments, you are one deluded fan or a relative of Dalglish and based on your evaluation of the quality of our current squad...well personally, I would not hestiate one bit in shooting u between the ears as u clearly have no purpose in life!!!!

  38. and who brought in Alonso in the first place? instead of some cack like Hendo and Adam? Fair enough, Rafa ballsed up the Alonso situation but he was the one that brought him in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  39. yeah?? than kenny got us to 6th place with Roy's team, which was in part rafa's team. shut the f up with rafa winning european cup with houllier's team, it was his merit that by adding 3 player to this team, having traore in the starting line up he pulled of the biggest come back in champion's league history!!! look nobody wants to swap managers, but if a manager is not up for the ask like roy, and kenny through this season, changes are needed. Rafa will always will be one of the strongest candidates because his Liverpool was one of the best teams in europe and you cannot change that fact

    ReplyDelete
  40. fuck rafa!!!look a pass transfer rafa made lool!!!...he brought a lot of failure player like josemi, kromkamp, morrientes, salif diao, mark gonzalez, bruno cherouy, dossena, aquillani and etc.look about total money he spend to brought all player in...how much?

& besides he signed many good player like garcia, benayoun, torres, mascherano, alonso but he failed to keep that player happy.

before rafa come...the kop like to play 4-4-2...after that he change to negative played 4-5-1, not give a youth plater chance to play although a lot many spend to develop a youth player!!!...WTF

  43. kd doesn't need this hassle. he came in and tried his best and i thank him for putting his head on the line for us. god bless kenny dalglish. i don't want him to continue as manager as much for his sake and sanity as ours. i want him to be the bobby charlton of lfc. an ambassador spreading the word of lfc. if he continues, no one will take him seriously and his immense reputation will be tarnished forever. he will never be anything other than a dignified, humble, genuine, idol, to me and thousands of others. he has the best interests of the club at heart. please kk, let someone else take the flack, you are too much of a gentleman to have to put up with all the crap. whatever has happened this season, you are mr.liverpool to me.........ynwa

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think the decision to play Spearing was purely he was our only DM we have now in the squad, plus I think Kenny thought to let Hendo & Gerrard to be more offensive, but it did not work well because we play lone striker. Spearing did mistakes which caused both goals we conceded. The fact is, we don't have a decent DM. The formation used was a 4-5-1, where you see a DM sitting just a little in front of back four-in this case Spearing. Carroll came in, and people thought that he changed the game. To me, logically, we were playing with Suarez alone in front, it made easier for Terry & Ivanovic. Carroll came in, it gave Suarez freedome to move as he tried to bring ball inside D-BOX and made several attempt (assist) from outside to inside... I think the game has changed not because of Carroll, but because we played with 2 strikers + let Suarez move freely. This is my view.

  45. What worries me is whether we will be able capable to go to the level of expenditure we have used since Jan '11 in the forthcoming summer. Because if not, we will fall even further behind the top 6. We clearly need to spend big again but whether FSG will fund us big this summer and whether KK can be trusted to spend it wisely, is a big question mark. The fact is we have mostly done a awful job with the money we have spent since Jan '11

    ReplyDelete
  46. btw rafa didn't have the funds to strengthen and that was his fall, not that he sold alonso, no player is irreplaceable. he always looked for value for money, he never wanted to overpay, I certainly think that aquilani wasn't the only planned transfer that season, but only one he had the money for. The team from 2008/09 needed strengthening and the biggest problem in that squad was riera who had a good season b4 provided us with loads of different options and there was nobody to step up, plus having kyrgiakos as our cover defensively, he had his good moments but also was at fault for many goals, he and agger just had problems playing together, another issue was carragher, who was playing progressively worse making mistakes that costed us, to name another no money for leftback cover, insua young promising but his game was missing a lot of ingredients to be a solid defender in the premier league. So let's put the myth of alonso behind us, btw i didn't even mention injuries that happened in that season.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Put yourself in Henry position, You paid 200mil from your pocket to buy this club. You paid for the transfer, end of day it did not went well (return). End of fiscal year you lost 50mil because of someone else fault. You don't have 100% confident in your manager of the club. Will you spend more if same manager is in charge? Maybe will you spend little (not 100mil but 50mil?) Maybe sell and buy ? In my opinion, even though we have 100mil to spend this summer, if we don't have effective training and coaching, any player can go from STAR TO ZERO.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think the best signing we could make right now is getting in Newcastle scout, Carr. As I don't see us spending big this summer, unless KK goes and FSG give the new manager good kitty. The likes of Cabaye and Tiote were bought for peanuts. Around £8/9m for the PAIR!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think KD must go - his tactics are wrong, signings are wrong,  he handled the racism issue wrong, sometimes he makes terrible excuses, and he is an average manager. Why did he guide us to 6th from 12th, beating the likes of Man C, Utd, Chelsea and drawing against Arsenal? we may have lost a few bad games, but we were in the brink of CL and this was also Woy's team! we are in the worst position than last year and we could be behind Everton, Fulham West Brom etc!

Those people who want KD to stay - I bet you you want other manager's head! KD's status should NOT have an impact on whether or not he stays. I think FSG should put him upstairs and let someone new in. Those that want KD to stay can f*** off seeing as how you wouldn't want any other manager to stay!

  52. Liverpool Fc  was worth 300-350 mil when they bought it and if they sell now they will get there money back. They have broke even. If you add to that the sponsorship deal they have made then they are doing well financially.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The situation is a bit clearer now, henry wants to sack kenny and he will do it after we play the last game at swansea, finally the moment we're all waited is coming, sorry for dalglish but he did it to himself, i know hes a great man and wants the best for lfc but really how could he buy players like henderson downing and carroll? how can you bring such average players to a club like liverpool? that was unforgivable so its none to blame but him for this sacking, im sure he understands he made some terrible mistakes but as ever he wont admit it, either way its a new era for us, we need to find a good manager who buys ONLY class players, and this is not the end, if hendo downing and the others keep staying here lfc wont change at all even if we change the manager this squad must be cleaned to the fullest 80% of this team is average, personally except gerrard suarez and agger i wouldnt keep anyone else , they're all poor, we need at least 6 new class players to get back into CL, people like kuyt maxi hendo downing carroll reina spearing must all leave before its too late.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I personally would give him a year to get it right. If he fails by xmas he can go.

    ReplyDelete
  55. lol no we just need to address our tactics, Gerrard was spoiling our formation , playing too deep even when we had the ball. I predicted the team but stated Carol should of played and spearing benched. Second half was our strongest team.

    ReplyDelete
  56. A player's performance is defined by more tan just one game. It's easy to try hard in a cup final; where was he against swansea, west brom etc?

  58. If Dalglish is to go i would very much like the great man to do it of his own accord, i dont know how many of u remember his playing days but it would be sad to see him sacked.
In saying that the current position of the club is not just who the club could afford but who wants to come to Liverpool( never thought i would say that).
They will need to get a manager with great knowledge of players outside Britain. one who can find some  players with a great sell on value, as well as having the ability to convince players to come.

  61. ..as for the next manager Im not one of those who wants rafa back, no, he had his time 6 years here failed to do something big, indeed he did some big things but not good enough for lfc standard, i think we should be giving a chance to new men new managers, living in the past wont help dont forget rafa used to buy many useless players as well, he made more than 80 signings during his time and how many from those were spot on? about 5-6 wouldnt say much, so im against the return of rafa, guardiola could be an option i know he wont have the squad he had at barca but at least he could take some players from there, some talents work with them and maybe create a new messi or xavi here, my wish is murinho tbh but dont think he will ever join us.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Jersey sponsorship deal will be counted only in next season. The figure on the paper wont lie, it was made it clear that we lost 50mil and lost is a lost. "If they sell now they will get there money back" --> It is your assumption and you keep it yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Actually, a hell of  a lot. He played one brilliant match after another and scored one brilliant goal after another. This season has been catastrophic and he should definitely go, but don't say he hasn't given us anything. He's probably given us more than anyone else in the history of the club with the possible exceptions - only possible - of Shankly and Paisley.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, Spearing was incapable in that position. If I were KD, I will play in Carragher in that position knowing the qualities of Chelsea Players.

    ReplyDelete
  65. People thought that Carroll changed the game in second half, really? To me logically, we were playing with alone striker- Suarez in front, it made easier for Terry & Ivanovic. Carroll came in as sub, it gave Suarez freedom to move around as he tried to bring the ball from outside to inside d-box, and made several attempt to assist. I think the game has changed not because of Caroll but because the decision to play with 2 strikers which let Suarez to be more freedom to move and create chances. My opinion.

  66. People as stubborn and arrogant as Rafa never learn anything. They got rid of him in Milan after about seven weeks but he knows the LFC fans will put up with his nonsense for years. He can't wait to get back. Don't rule out the return of Voronin either. Ooh, isn't that exciting?

  73. I certainly remember his playing days - he was great! But we have to face facts - he's made a complete fool of himself and should definitely get the chop.  I'm so glad my all-time hero Roger Hunt never became Liverpool's manager - it's an utterly thankless task and his memory would have been besmirched too. You are right about foreign players but...we don't the likes of Voronin back, do we? They've got to be good foreigners. Very difficult. I'm afraid the future at Anfield is very bleak indeed, though some just can't see it and imagine Henderson is going to start spraying Souness-like passes around next season. Good job Juventus is my main team. Haven't lost a match all season and just won the Scudetto.Brilliant.

I dont think we really deserve a change of this mess, i just cant believe but im still hearing and reading here people defending dalglish wanting him to stay more and calling us ( fans who seek his sack) fake fans, personally i never met or knew  stupidest fans like lfc fans sorry to say that but they deserve it, they're so so naive and childish and thats why this is happening to us, because the fans are backing this disaster to carry on, this is just tragic, lfc doesnt deserve that and people say we have the best fans in the world lol, how are they the best when they are satisfied with the 9th place and still want dalglish here that next season we would finish 14th, you people are nuts , lfc dont need fans like you, you're killing the club and ruining with along with dalglish, shame on you, big time.

  77. Truly well said mate, i personally dont want to start hating Kenny, maybe give him till Xmas and if things dont approve, move him into an ambassador role.  The liverpool job has been a tough one to manage since the 1990's and with the poor owners we have had over the last 20 years, especially the dicks who sold to hicks/gillett and even in the transfer market we have always been slow to the fort.  Hopefully with theses new owners, the club will be run as a shrewd business as this is how the game is today im afraid.  We need to be clever in the transfer market and trust me I've worked for americans for over 11 years, they are very result driven and sentimental values do not count for a lot.  I think we have been banging on too much about the past and its the present that counts and not the past.  Reality is going to hit hard for some fans who live in the deluded world.  BE AWARE THE AMERICANS are no fools!!!

  78. As much as I don't think Kenny is the man to take LFC forward, it is highly out of order for the owner to humiliate him in public like this. It says more about the owner than Kenny I'm afraid. If they feel the need to sack Kenny, then so be it, but at least do it with a modicum of dignity and respect and grind your axes in private.

    ReplyDelete
  79. The difference between Roy and Kenny was that Roy's team played the worst football ive ever seen in my 27 years supporting the club, Kenny's team for most of the season have played some great stuff.

The fact is we have an unbalanced squad, we have some top players but all it takes is one or two absentees and the balance of the team is gone, No disrespect to Spearing but swap him for Lucas and the league would look a lot different, and the cup would have been ours.

  80. Maybe the bitter disappointment over weekend made my response a wee bit harsh, but he deserved it for using that sort of language towards other fans!!

NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB, NOT EVEN KENNY!! THE QUICKER SOME PEOPLE START TO REALISE THAT THE BETTER!!

  81. I am so tired of writing this, but here it goes again. How many of the "80 signings" went to youth squad and reserve squad? More than half. Rafa bought lots of youngsters so that people like you can watch future messis and xavis playing for Liverpool. And how many bought players that were worth more than 10 million, flops? Perhaps only 2 (Keane, and arguably Aqualani). The rest were spot on, and on a side note, there weren't that many over 10 million signings cos the man didn't have enough money to spend the cash at one go.

It is all right if you don't want Rafa back, you are not sharing an uncommon view, but don't criticise him for one thing that he actually did a decent job on (arguably, only wegner did a better job with similar budget), he deserves to be treated better than this after all what he has done.

Tactically against the bigger teams was always spot on and got us some fantastic results in big games, but you would be deluded  2 not remember the bad stuff i also remember terrible displays under Raffa ohhh yeah and the year we should av won the prem he goes and gets involved in a public spat with Alex which i feel robbed us in d end.... Who knows what was said behind the scenes by KD?
JW Henry didn't shake Carraghers hand either but he shook Gerrards.

If you want to talk about Respect  KD dropped Maxi even though he's been scoring goals.
KD plays Henderson week in week out with NO JUSTIFICATION  when there are better options...THAT IS DISRESPECTFUL.

Since the Suarez affair and How Kenny conducted himself during it, I lost TRUST in him.

  89. There is no doubt that Kenny Dalglish’s managerial reign at Liverpool is over and I just hope now that even the most distrustful realizes that Kenny Dalglish cannot continue be a Liverpool manager. Henceforth it is the time of the biggest responsibility for Principal Owner John W. Henry and Chairman Thomas Werner since they bought LFC. Now that the FA cup final against Chelsea is over they need to prove factually that they allocate the essential vision and intelligence as they can take this historic football club on the next level and transform it to a real title contender! When they were taking over LFC they promised to all LFC’s fans in all over the world that they would do everything it needed to turn around the fortunes of this club and protect stakeholders’ investments. The most critical moment of their leadership has arrived and they need to make a decision which will either signalize a new golden era for this club or either further extends its decline. This is translated in either appointing a new world class manager which simply means that a new promising period will rise up for LFC or either keep Kenny Dalglish as manager which simply means that no emerge light will be seen at the end of the LFC tunnel!

  94. Why we failed to progress is very simple to understand. All of the players we bought last season were from  lower teams and none of them had played at the highest level. This can be addressed this year if we want to win the premiersip.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Kenny let better players leave the club than he brought in!

Is there a player apart from Suarez that we would make a profit on?
Some shocking signings and team selections this season.

Meireles, Aqualani and Cole should never have been allowed to leave unless we were bringing in players of a better quality, Suarez has been crying out for some decent service this season and would've got it from those 3!

It's not all about the signings though, team selections have been impossible to understand at times, if I was picking our best 11 Downing, Henderson and Adam would not be on the team sheet!

Henderson for me has been shockingly bad this season, I had doubts about signing him from day one and he's done nothing this season to prove otherwise, the players we could've bought for that sort of money?
Besides anything else I think Shelvey is 10 times the player he'll ever be.

Downing is another, never been a fan of his there never seems to be an end product end product with him, we paid Juan Mata money for him ffs!!
Maxi has been in great form but for whatever reason can't get a start, he should be playing ahead of Downing without question and for that matter so should Kuyt, Bellamy, Suso, and STERLING!!

They allowed Insua to leave having no real cover or competition at LB, at 23 I think he would have developed into a good LB, he's a few goals and few assists too this season, what a waste!

Rafa is the answer, towards the end there he was fighting too many battles on too many fronts, he'd sort a few ego's out too, Gerrard had his best season playing out of position for most of it but while these decisions may not have been popular they got us results, Carra has seen better days too and Carra knew that Rafa would make that call sooner rather than later.

You'll always hear fans bang on about the likes of Mourinho and Gourdiola but for me they never inherited a squad like Rafa did and nor do I think they could've operated on the budget Rafa did!

This is not a Kenny out post, it's reality and no individual be it player or manager is bigger than the club, the transfers in and out, team selection and tactics have all been below par and it's time to stop the rot before it sets in!

The time for sentiment is long gone, on the back of this season I'd have to say it's time for Kenny to step aside and Rafa to come and finish what he started, Carra needs to be shown the door too I would hate to see him coaching either from what I've seen on the pitch and whats been reported about his behavior towards others in the squad.

  113. dalglish deserves the same treatment though, because when you weigh it up, dalglish should be doing much better than 9th after having a 120M pound transfer kitty. Hodgson arrived when the club was near administration. I'm not saying we should have given Hodgson a chance, but Dalglish has to be judged the same way Hodgson was considering our league position and our signings.

  114. oh and hodgson managed to pick up meireles- twice the player but half the price of henderson.

  115. Don't you get it? Kenny's legendary status is irrelevant. If it was any other manager you'd be calling for his head too. But he shouldn't depart by being sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  116. If Rafa is a top manager why is he still out of work? If he is one of the best around why aren't Barcelona or Real who look like they are gonna lose their managers in the summer looking at him? Is it because in his last two jobs he's lost the plot so badly that his stock has fallen. Is it because he took a job with the European champions, a team that had dominated the Italian league for years and promptly ruined them. Is it because he has no people skills at all and that players don't want to play for him? Or that he complains that he has no money to spend and then wastes what he's got (Aqualani - Keane)? I think the obvious answers to all these questions is that only some Liverpool fans think he's a good manager and the rest of the footballing world doesn't. I agree that Kenny is not the man for the job but we need a young forward thinking manager such as the guy at Valencia or the Bilboa manager. Let's stop living in the past and look to the future, after all it's the living in the past that's got us into this mess now.

    ReplyDelete
  117. your spot on mate, Rafa's set his team up to be defensive, more scared of losing than actually looking to win games and like you I believe he started the breakup of the team by selling Alonso, at least Kenny has got us playing good football, he has made mistakes but I feel that eventually he will get it right. we just have to keep faith with him and give him another season at least.

    ReplyDelete
  118. i'm not denying that. I'm doubting 'give him time' would have been written to often on this site back then? Fans cheering Adam's season ending injury is a joke. Pretty sad reading really

    ReplyDelete
  124. Everyone has the right to slate players. The current squad will not be a success in two or three years and we will be stuck with negative equity players. Lucas has to do it all again,he may not perform like this again. Certain players constantly torn apart on here, such as Adam, personify where the club is going wrong. If you can defend signings ,using him as an example, you are a fool. Modern football doesn't do 'time' or patience. Right or wrong, that is the reality and you need to deal with the fact we are inefectual and we can't stick players in the reserves like years ago,to learn the 'Liverpool Way'.

  126. What is this thing about biggest comeback in European Night? Rafa made a foolish starting line up ... kewell in first 11 after injury filled game? Hamann left out? During half time, he had no choice but to bring in Hamann as finnan was injured. Otherwise the change would not have happened. It was not tactical change but one made due to injury. Then out of desperation he made formation changes which worked to our advantage ... not forgetting that Milan almost made in 4-0 within the first 10 min of the second half.
As for finishing second to Man Utd ... that was again down to our luck. We were called the comeback team that season for coming back from 1 and some even 2 goals down and winning games. However, all that happened because Rafa played negative soccer and only when he had no choice ( we are down) that he played attacking- leading to victory. We were lucky that season .. if we cannot beat Man Utd to the title that season when Man Utd can even afford a short holiday trip in the name of World Club Competition, we going to never win the league title under Rafa. Forget about Rafa .. really not a good choice to have him back. He was busy finding fault with other team managers and teams when our own team was playing such negative soccer, with so many tactical and selection oversights.

  131. For the record Chris, I've backed Lucas from day one and could see quality in him, great player!

If you look at our team now the backbone of it was signed by Rafa or was already at the club!

Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Johnston, Lucas, Kelly, Gerrard and I'd add to that Maxi and Kuyt who should start before Henderson and Downing every game.

Suarez and Meireles stand out for me as quality players we've signed since Rafa left!

I can't say i was pleased at all about Adam getting injured, but he's not the quality we require.

  140. just read this interesting little article about a portion of lfc fans booing Lucas at a home game

Wouldn't mind betting Titi and H8UTD were there? There was a queer incident during the game against Sunderland that involved a small portion of Liverpool fans when Rafa Benitez brought on Lucas Leiva for their French forward David N’Gog.A fraction of the supporters were heard booing the Brazilian as he made his way onto the pitch. For a club that prides itself with its fans being the 12th man, this comes as a dent in the spirit in which they have played the game for many a year. Therefore it comes as no surprise when reports claim that the 22-year-old is considering a possible transfer to Atletico Madrid. Speaking to Radio Marca, the rotation player said that he has been close to joining Los Colchoneros in the past, and that the possibility of such a move still exists. However, he proceeded to say that he still is happy plying his trade at Anfield.

  141. KK has had a season and a half. Roy only got a mere half a season. At the end of the day, Hodgson may have done a rubbish job but he was barely given anytime to establish himself...yet fans say KK hasn't been given enough time. Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  142. At least Rafa got us finishing high enough most of the time, to get us in CL.

At least Wenger gets his side in CL every season (maybe not next!) with his good football, whilst KK's so-called good football has finishing mid-table.

  143. hey Mark, take off the red tinted specs. Kenny was a great player, he done well for us in the interim, but full time manager, no way. The FA final proves that, his team selection and tactics were poor (and that's being polite). Chelsea where there for taking if we played at least two strikers, but we didn't, so Kenny, why not?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Its a crying shame what has happened to liverpool and I for one was over confident that King Kenny would bring back the glory days. Such is the pain felt is many supporters hearts that most of us have lost all confidence in the king and many of our players. They all need to earn their worth and quite clearly only a few are living up to the liverpool expectation. Rafa did it and even towards the end of his tenure many a fan was frustrated with his predicatable strategies. Its time for new blood, its time to rattle the cage and out with the old and in with new.

  147. You talking about Tomkins? He is as rose-tinted as they come and certainly knows how to portray things in the best possible light when he wishes, regardless of how odd it may seem to do so. So I would hardly use Tomkins as some sort of standard, as he can be ridiculously bias. Stats only get you so far.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I am not saying Rafa is the answer, but he was consistently closing the gap on Man U, until Hicks and Gillet, pulled the plug on money for transfers.  Rafa was then left with little option but to accept bids for alonso and mascherano and to be fair, when barca and madrid come calling, it is very hard for a player to turn them down.  Kenny has had the financial backing of the owners and has had 3 transfer windows to bring in his own players, only enrique and to a lesser extent suarez have been a success.  Kenny says he cant fault the professionalism and effort of his players, so either they are simply not good enough, or the coaching and tactics are not good enough.  Either way KD is at fault and should not be given any more time or money.  Apart from the league cup, which tbh most of the big teams play their reserves, it has been a shocking season, for LFC.  It would be a massive risk to back Dalglish in the transfer market again, one that the owners may not be prepared to take.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yes, we have beaten plenty of big teams over the last couple of seasons, home and abroad but yet have done poor against so-called lesser sides plenty of times. So it means nothing substantial or conclusive positively if Insua did well against big teams.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Yes, and the appropriate word you use 'were' is exactly how it stands. Rafa has had his day as has Kenny & now it's over to someone new!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Well said.. move on!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Well it looks like I have been proven right once again, LFC wont be building a new stadium nor will they be competing for CL football for a long time. League performance is worse than ever. FACT! I would love to know how a club like newcastle are above us if they spend very little and lost in there eyes there 2 best players in Donkey and Enrique? Are they a club rebuilding? Seems as though they doing much better on a shoe string budget. People need to realise that KD has bought the wrong players and that he is to stubborn for his own good like rafa was. He was a great player and a joy to watch but the problem with managers is that they are just too stubborn to admit their mistakes and it is costly to the club and fans. If he is forced to step down or sacked he will be paid off. IF he had the best interests of the club he would not accept the vast sums of money.  I am sorry but have you ever heard a manager not taking his pay off? NEVER!!! The manager like the player never loses out, contract is paid and the club and fans suffer only.

Going forward LFC will need a huge amount of investment and frankly I dont see the owners putting that kind of money into trusting KD. And who can blame them. We live in a different era of giving managers time. The money around now is hugely different to when Fergie had a crap first season. You expect a return on your investment, it is the same thing in any business. Would you be happy with 10s of millions being spent and you actually regressed from the season before? Alarm bells will be ringing loud and clear.

As for a manager that can work magic and get LFC winning and back in the elite will be something in the shankly mold personally. But finding someone is a totally different story. I think all the millions and piss poor management of the club are showing more than ever and as the other clubs have been more prudent and show progression, LFC have been in terminal decline. Some seriously harsh decisions will be done at the end of the season and it needs to be done swiftly and efficiently.

Gerrard is not 25 any more, Carra is way past it, only one decent holding midfielder in lucas. Reina doesn't have his heart at LFC any more. List goes on and on.

LFC might as well field reserves in their next games as they have nothing to play for. It would at least give some of the youngsters a chance to play.

  161. Rafa was great in the first 2 nad a half years when he was accompanied by his fellow assistant Pako Ayesteran, when pako left all things went spiraling down . So my verdict is Rafa +pako or no Rafa. Cappello is available!!

  162. I feel like I did at the end of Rafa's reign but even more dejected. After that last season, despite my affection for Rafa it was clear that he had to go. With Kenny even more so. At least Rafa had the excuse of behind the scenes turmoil and a lack of finances to blame. Kenny's downfall has been all of his own making. Arrogance has been the theme of the season, from the pompous defence of Suarez to the dismissive treatment of the press to the blowhard obstinance in not bringing in a striker during the window even when told the money was available. That's not to mention the terrible signings made during summer.

Probably the worst byproduct of the awful H&G reign is this lunatics running the asylum mentality of the fans now. There has long been a vacuum of power and the owners now have to fill it. The fans cannot run the club. For too long Kenny justified himself to the fans who slavishly follow heroes rather than the owners or in Suarez's case the nation.

It's about time that a new Liverpool emerged. One that is more humble and less susceptible to fan control. One where fans stop demanding things based around nostalgia and start to accept alternative visions and new ideas. We've recycled everything from the past now and it's not worked. Let's allow these forward thinking owners who have shown commitment and have saved the club to steer our future because if not them there is nothing.

  163. give him another year and let s see what happens...ynwa

  164.  stop living in the distant past just to prove a point, yeah your old, what do you want a blue peter badge? ive got personal letters from some of the greats, autographs and all that gubbins but who gives a flying? were talking about a manager who assembled one of the best MF's the english league has ever seen. he made a rag team , aging team of average players win the CL. Thats what good managers do, they organise and instruct players to the letter. GH, souness, KD, evans, hodgson etc etc have all proven themselves to be inadequate-Rafa is the best any of us have had since the golden days, but harping on about them will get us no where.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Absolutely Peter. Liverpool Football Club and all other football club's on mother Earth are bigger than the players, coaches and managers.

    ReplyDelete
  166. like when we turned real 5-0 ?

    ReplyDelete
  167. Get us a new Manager. Kenny has and will never be a tactician. The game has evolved. I wouldn't mind Rafa but not Brendon Rodgers; please! He is still in school. I trust Henry to make the right decision and appoint a man that will bring back fortress Anfield!

    ReplyDelete
  168. yeah he's well proven at the top, a master in europe and bound to attract top players. not.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Henderson and spearing would struggle in the championship.

    ReplyDelete
  170. would you be saying the same if it was hodgson ending up 9th?

    ReplyDelete
  171. wat are u talkin about dickhead king kenny is a legend

    ReplyDelete
  172. chelsea would have taken him if the chav celery lovers had not chanted what they did. they are the thickest supporters out there.

    ReplyDelete
  173. On the merit of KD's job so far he is not good enough. Period. Bring in the good managers - and I for one dont think Rafa is a good mgr. He didnt do well after liverpool in italy.

    ReplyDelete
  174. its not as if any of kennys buys have come good. not one. and dont mention suarez, he was incoming already.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Look back at the stats during rafa's reign. we were the number 1 side in europe-no exception. people can harp on about the league but chelsea have that and look what they crave..the CL. Rafa did very well all things considered.

    ReplyDelete
  176. what, and another 40m to spend on cattermole, fletcher and lennon?

    ReplyDelete
  177. And KD overruled DC regarding who should be purchased..mata or downing. but at least carra's happy because he and his misses can dine with the downings. Carra is another relic who's football ideas need to be kept well away from LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  178. yeah kenny can be the pom pom girl

    ReplyDelete
  179. LFC cannot keep going back to past managers, we will become the laughing stock of English football, imagine the taunts from rival fans like 'when are you bringing back Houllier, Evans, Souness'. IF we change managers it needs to be someone completely different, proven like Capello, Van Gaal or even Guardiola(unlikely). Benitez had 6 years, he had his time.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Yes, lets move on. Get a manager for the long haul. Move on. Move on.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Benitez didnt want silva or villa, google it mate, he ruled out those players. Rafa was sacked because the board would not sanction 20m bids for Carlton Cole or Kenwyne Jones. The myths about Benitez are laughable. He was a poor manager and is now virtually unemployable in the game. Even clubs like Fulham or Sunderland wouldnt take him.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Kenny's failure was the damn players he bought.. Most useless bunch of nothings I've ever seen. Watching Henderson and Downing in the final I was so angry tears where coming out. Downing kept passing on the responsibility to Enrique to do something on the left wing like the coward he is, and even Enrique to me looks useless, all he does is run with the ball and has no quality in attack. If them two are Liverpool's left wing attack for next season we're in trouble. Carroll had 30 good minutes out of the whole season and now people are praising him, again if he's our first choice striker next season we're in trouble. Henderson should just go into the woods and get eaten or lost.

  183. Rafael Benitez - Champion's League & FA Cup winner -  With his formation & His player's & Tactic's & Style of play - Made Steven Gerrard a better player by pushing him forward or wide right - No Gerard Houllier did not win the Champion's League! Rafa made alot of Changes the year he come in & got rid of alot of unwanted players & The team he built with alonso & Mascherano & Gerrard & Torres was the best midfield & Attack in Europe & He Made one mistake in five year's by selling Alonso & bringing in a player who was slagged off at the time in Aquilani & Now so many fans want him back  (1 mistake) Kenny made 4 in one summer & 12 month's of mistakes!  We sit in ninth & One Carling Cup - Be honest now the best anyone as felt in a long time was under Rafa because he made us Liverpool again - He made Europe fear us & People in Europe did not want to play at Anfield with our crowd or the team he had out! - yes i miss Rafa it was a mistake to sack him & To bring in Roy Hodgson summed up the Liverpool board back then!! Would i welcome him back YES i would - I would love him to have a chance to do it with money & His vision & He would probably make both Suarez & Carroll better.

  184. How can u say he didnt do well at inter he won to cups in six months

google the facts if u dont beleive me

he wanted to overhaul an aging squad of players that wer gettin past it...a club willing to spend and invest in a future...inters owners wer a mirror image of hicks n co...promissed the earth to get rafa in once they did they didnt want to spend and invest...

    bring back rafa

    ReplyDelete
  189. carroll is a fine striker, he was 4-5 years ago and when he was at newcastle. we bought him injured incase you forgot. and age is on his side.
    carroll is not the problem.
our below average midfield is the problem, and out wide.

    ReplyDelete
  190. The reason we are were we are is because Rafa fucked us up. He wanted to get sacked in his last season and look at the team he left Hodgson, then Rafa got sacked from the Inter team who won the treble 6 months previous. Rafa is a horrible manager.

If that was your money spent you would say 'See what happens'.
Kenny has failed it's as simple as that

    ReplyDelete
  192. Listen tinty...rafa was in the procces of having a bid accepted for david villa but only gave him 16 million funds instead of the twenty rafa wanted/needed to bring him in...then instead the board went behind his back and bought useless keane twenty million haha wot a joke that turned out to be..he also wanted dani alves and jevotic

i think u need to get ur facts right u plonker

RAFA BEST MANAGER SINCE BOB PAISLEY....

    GET RAFA BACK ASAP <3

  193. the season isnt over and we have won a cup signed new 7 players and we were lower than 9th when kenny took over

    ReplyDelete
  194. Fergie finished 7th but inherited a team in 17th or something. It was a huge improvement. Kd took a team in 7th and finished 8th. You can't compare them.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Get PEP give him 40 million to spend we already have a pass and move system and maybe we can sign Tello, Quencha and maybe a few world class players might come to Liverpool . Who would'nt want to play under Guardiola
