Unhappy Luis Suarez reacts to Liverpool's abject league form...

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is not a happy man. The club's season has spiralled into abject league mediocrity, something I'm sure the Uruguayan never expected when he signed on the dotted line in January 2011.

After Liverpool's incredible defeat to QPR recently, Suarez admitted the team had 'returned to Liverpool very upset by the score', and he apologised to fans for the performance.

After the club's 6th defeat in 7 games against Newcastle yesterday, Suarez took to Twitter again to express his frustration with Liverpool's plight. He said:

"Difficult moments after the last matches. We must continue to work until the end. YNWA"

'Difficult moments' is an understatement (!) I honestly can't see how Liverpool are going to pull this (league) season out of the fire.

If Liverpool won every league game until the end of the season the club would finish with a points total of 62, which would be, at the very least, respectable. However, I think we all know that isn't going to happen.

With only three goals in the last nineteen league games, Suarez clearly needs to step it up on the goalscoring front if Liverpool are going to rescue this season from mediocrity.

  1. I don't think any achievement would make this season look respectable.

  3. Unfortuanately Suarez's form has been brought down a shit load of levels since playing with the below average crap Dalglish brought. I bet Fernando Torres is cheering now that he left the mid table club we have become.

Unfortunately I think Luis is all but gone in the summer!

  4. if i was suarez i would be looking for another club, then there's andy (pandy) carroll who should be sold to any willing farmer looking to spend around £250 for a cart horse

  6. You really believe that winning the FA Cup would make the season where we crossed all limits of self-respect, made ourselves a laughing stock after pouring in some ridiculous amount of cash, set new standards of disastrous league performance (which is what really counts in terms of team assessment) and basically set ourselves back several years, respectable?

  7. I think Dalglish has lost it. All of players can not flop together. Problem is Manager. He seems to have no plan for bringing a change in the results we are getting recently.  Recently, Dalglish looks so lonely on touch line. I feel sorry for him. I think, he should realise and give the job to someone more capable.

  8. I can't blame our players directly for not scoring. It seems like they have been following a tactic for quite some time to stay in between the big box and the midfield for some very strange reason. You rarely see any of our players in the huge box, let alone in the small box to tap in a cross. We have been doing this since the beginning of the season, no wonder we have not scored a lot of goals this year!

I just cannot understand why this issue has never been tackled in a whole year in the training ground. Our tactics are completely out of order and they do not allow our players to score. Like Pardew said, we should be playing more direct, this means we should be getting more people in the box because that's the only way you can play directly effectively. I hate to mention Man.UTD, but look at how much direct they are in their play! They take every chance they have to penetrate the opponent and do so very well with Valencia's pace and trickery and with Rooney's finishing.

Oh, and Carroll should stop flopping around the pitch. His play has improved immensely but he remains prone to toppling over himself like a donkey. I believe he can come good and also believe we should not be selling him because he provides good tactical options, but there are a lot of things in his play which he must iron out, like staying on his feet, challenging defenders and not go down too easily and run towards the box (should be joined by two other players as well!) after he wins the ball in the midfield.

We have not been scoring because our players have been lurking too much in the middle of the park and our rigid tactics and lack of direct play are causing this attitude within our players. Dalglish and Clarke have been getting this wrong since the beginning of this season and shot themselves in the foot by selling Meireles.

  9. Our current team consists of very average players with the exception of perhaps 3 players and add to that a lousy manager. Now even Newcastle have much better players all round plus a decent manager. So what do we expect to achieve? Our recent form is among the worst in the league and yet some people think those who criticise need their heads checked!

  10. NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN LFC,SO IF KENNY DONT STEP ASIDE,HE SHOULD BE SACKED AND ALSO DAMIAN COMOLLI,THEY ARE THE TWO PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TEAMS POSITION,BRING IN CAVANI IF THATS POSSIBLE AND OR RAFA AND RANIERI

  11. If Liverpool lose to Everton in the cup (which is very possible) this would have to be the worst depressing season ever.

  17. I find it strange that the board and owners are getting stick . They listened and acted to the fans raging that Hodgson was beneath them, listened and acted on their call to get the Messiah to the Anfield hotseat and then bankrolled him beyond reasonable expectations.

They now sit and watch Kenny Dalglish make a fool of himself and the club in interviews wherever he feels aggrieved - almost weekly it seems and in supporting players beyond what was prudent and necessary. They sit and watch players who they paid many many times over the odds for, lumber around the pitch being beaten every week.

Comolli isnt buying players , and isnt making recommendations on anyone that isnt British. He was brought in due to his continental contacts.  Only one person demanded Carroll, Henderson , Downing and Adam.   It's not those players fault that they are pony.

Its a shame - Liverpool are a big club but they seem further away from their League success back in the 1980s than they have ever been.

Stick or twist ... its a gamble either way...

  18. not entirely, remember when sourpuss shipped out beardsley, houghton, etc, for the likes of kosma, piecnik, stewart and other non entity signings? he got rid of the boot room and basically destroyed us. that along with the awful kits was more depressing. by the way, i refer to him as sourpuss when speaking about him as a manager. as a player it is simply the wonderful souness, chalk and cheese.

  19. LFC wanted Rafa out,I wouldnt blame Reina Lucas Kuyt  Agger Skertle if they left these players signed for Rafa.Since Rafa left 16 players have been signed by RH and KD,and people go on about Rafas high turnover of players,at least most of Rafas players were free transfers were he had to take a gamble due to H and Gs meanness in backing him.Weve gone from regualarly being champions league semifinalists and finalists to a laughing stock, under Rafa every game was a big event, now theres nothing now no anticipation no excitement.KD will be sacked in the summer, they wont sack him now due to us having 42pts were safe for next season, but we cant improve our position so JH will be mindful of disrespecting a legend by sacking him now as  it would hurt KDs pride and ego. Those people who wanted Rafa out even after he refused Real madrid 3 times should hang your head in shame.

  20. I dont know if winning the fa cup would be good for us, I mean it would be fantastic to win another trophy BUT it would be bad as well because then the owners would back kenny more and keep him for at least another season which would be a disaster for us, kenny has to go regardless we win the cup or not so I just dont know but seeing this form of lfc cant believe we'll even go in the final everton looks way better atm plus we dont have reina for that game.... I think we'll go out, even if we go in the final we surely cant beat chelsea or spurs with this team weve got now our confidence right now is -0.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes , FA cup win is must for us .. it won't make our season any worse.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's not what the talk was about in our comments.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bottom line is that the blame should be placed on the whole club. The new players that KD brought in this year are playing worse than they did with with their previous clubs last season.

In theory it should work out. Big money buys like Adam/Downing/Henderson/Carroll should be playing now that they're surrounded by a better cast but it's not happening.

Before the start of the season everyone was optimistic but I think that's largely due because we were among the top spending clubs in Europe. However it was not money well spent. When you spend 35, 20 and 20 on 3 players they need to be established world class players (and not fringe internationals). You don't spend that kind of money on potential. How confident is ownership going to be this summer when Comolli and Dalglish ask for transfer funds?

Having said that, he fan in me still hoped that they would've been alot closer to 4th at this point. A very disappointing campaign.

You'll Never Walk Alone . . . If it means not putting up with the constant whining and moaning and total destructive nonsense comments I think it would be far better to walk alone.
Kenny is only in his 1st season, just stop with the moaning and get behind the team and the club, "Together we stand, divided we fall".

  29. Personally, winning the Carling Cup was a good trophy in the cabinet but it's not very respectable. And let's face it, if we beat Everton in the Semi-Final at Wembley, then we have to play either Chelsea or Tottenham. Both of which could destroy us in the Final at the moment.

Suarez can leave. Have PSG pay an outrageous amount because we know they have money in the bank and let's say good riddance to the little pox. Then we could get a strong 20 goal a season striker with no drama...

  31. so we sack KD now? .....who we gona get as manager? moaninho? wont come bcos he wont have 100s of millions to spend. best thing for all the so called liverpool supporters( who probably never been to anfield) that want KD sacked...go support Chavski. to all the so called Liverpool supporters moaning rather than getting behind the team... go support some one else. do you really think KD wants to harm the club??? grow up!!
lets see what the management does in the summer. does it really matter where we finish in the league this year? we all ready in europa league....lets win the fa cup & see what happens next season....TRUE LIVERPOOL FANS NEVER WALK ALONE.....the rest of you can are just glory hunters

  32. Heee heeee !!! so funny doughas !!! But if that's Andy Carroll's, Jordan "Passenger" Henderson must only cost 250 rupees. He has the 1st one I get rid off along with his uncle Kenny. He's been hiding in the middle of the field returnig the ball everytime he recieves the ball he doesn't want. He's so easy to please . Give him the jersey and sit him on the bench , he is fine. He doesn't want the ball and don't want to be responsible losing the ball that's why he gives it back to whomever that passed it to him or he'll pass it all the way backwards all the time even when we are chasing the game. He is one player who loves his jersey so much he hardly gets dirty at any game. And believe me, he's one player who'll not be on any injury list all season long. He'll track the opponent back anywhere but they're never worried they'll lose the ball to him. Cause they won't and they know so. He'll never make that tackle. Good for the medical staff indeed.  So KK and JpH has to go in pairs. I'm trying to investigate what their relationship actually is. There has to be something between them two. Cousins, distant relative, ex-gf's and old crush's son ??? What !!! Imagine Hendo in the center-stage playing as a striker or goalkeeper where he can't hide ....  then Carroll joins the exit after. I'd give Carroll another half a season on second halves to proof himself. Not Dalglish not Henderson.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I was referring to the comments not your article, you provide insightful topics for fans to discuss, it just seems all people want to do is moan and whine. Kenny came out today and said "Let's stand united and together we will come through this".
I can't believe for one minute that fans really think Kenny just shrugs his shoulders gives a few excuses then goes home for a cuppa. The man is Liverpool to the core and he will give his all to make LFC successful. Maybe one day his all may not be good enough but the man deserves a chance  and deserves more loyalty than what he is being shown by so called supporters. I repeat again, he is only in his 1st season.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Be honest, Adam - when Hodgson was in charge, were you arguing for the same patience; were you saying 'united we stand, divided we fall'? I seriously doubt it, and Hodgson's results were nowhere near as bad as Dalglish's.

People are moaning for a very good reason: as David Fairclough - a staunch apologist most of the time - said the other day, there's something 'fundamentally wrong' at Liverpool, and burying our heads in the sand is not going to make it go away.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I really like the way you put it. I'm so frustrated at him. But you put it the way it should be put. Respect the way you use your words. I was too blunt . Too angry and frustrated for too long with Kenny playing ten men instead of eleven when he starts Henderson. And when he plays both Henderson and Carrol at the same time, we are 9 n a half  players vs eleven.. He should give way to someone else the job to put LFC back up where it belong.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Totally Agree,....I also think that Suarez should be sold, his ability is great but he brings bad attitude to all the players.

    ReplyDelete
  37. "Then we could get a strong 20 goal a season striker..."

After last summer's dealings, it's hard to have faith in management to sign the right players. They blew that chance with the Torres/Meireles sales

    ReplyDelete
  38. Another good article Jamie, fact is people just don't want to accept that we might for instance have a few key players wanting out come the summer......

IMO they should be shipped out regardless due to how much they have unsettled the side this season.....BUT the plain fact is IF Kenny stays we will struggle to attract quality replacements......

Its just unrealistic to think we can keep Kenny and keep all our star players at the Club replacing the ones that leave etc and all will be rosy in the garden....

The truth is we are an unsettled side with problems.....most neutrals can see that.....in fact most fans can see that....but what do they know of our problems.....the truth is just too depressing and means accepting a whole lot of awkward and difficult realities....

I think this has gone beyond the point of being fixable with Kenny in place....the damage has been done....Suarez can bleet and tweet on about how "unhappy" he is, but he is very much responsible and he knows it..........

Its just going to make leaving LFC a lot easier for him and a few others.....very convenient that......play like shite all season....the Club's profile goes down......our chances of recovery and re establishing ourselves look more and more remote.....etc.......then they fcuk off elsewhere in search of CL football....or more money and fame.....

Lost loads of respect for Luis this season, the one doubt i had about him coming to LFC was his temperamant and ability to court controversy......After seeing how well he adapted to playing for us i was like most other people delighted with his footballing skills and will to win etc, but this season..........he has shown his ugly side IMO and tbh during that whole racism saga i wished him out of the Club and hoped that FSG would move him on come the summer.

Quite disgraceful behaviour from him this season, didn't seem too bothered about the ban either because he came back and was as nonchalent and reckless as ever.....certainly didn't look like a player who wanted to make amends by upping his performance and more importantly his goal tally.......

Really don't give a flying fig what he says in his tweets etc, pisses me off when players do this, Lucas and his tweets used to grate me no end, so obvious that some of these players have agendas, tweeting IMO allows them to manipulate the fans and how they think.....Glen was at it the other day also....sticking up for his mate Reina.....i just wish that they'd do their freaking talking on the pitich.....nothing worse than listening to them bemoaning their lot or pushing agenda's when our season lies in tatters......

Anyway as good a player that he might be....Suarez can leave in the summer and he can be replaced, we thought Torres was irreplacaeable....then we signed Suarez....fact is there are plenty of players who would jump at the opportunity to play for this Club, though we might however have to rid ourselves of our "problems" first to attract them here.....

    ReplyDelete
  39. I know why people are moaning, it's because we are going through a bad spell. But sack the manager and other such ridiculous comments are a disgrace and totally disrespectful to one of LFC's finest servants.
I'm not burying my head in the sand and I'm certain neither is Kenny and the coaching staff. I repeat again this is only Kenny's first full season and he has earned and deserves our support.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Haha good one. Very related to LFC..

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sacking Dalglish would be repeating the same mistake with Hodgson.

Personally I think Kenny sticks his neck out for his players way too much. They don't reciprocate. The players are under performing and should take as much blame as Dalglish is getting at the moment

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree that it's wrong to call for Dalglish's head; he doesn't deserve the sack, but he should step down at the end of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  43. At the moment YNWA stands for `YOU`LL NEVER WIN AGAIN` mate...and this comes from a LFC fan of over 40 years ok!!...does`nt mean we can`t criticise this team and management if it`s fully justified. If you don`t do your job properly at your place of work, your boss would soon let you know eh???no different here..except we have to get this you`ll never win again scenario ditched immediately. So if that means Messers Henry and Werner sack KD and we get rid of our overpaid under performing players ,then so be it.Adamplatt,if your happy supporting mid table mediocrity, hoping that we may come right in the next 10 years..that`s your call....I WANT LFC TO RETURN TO IT`S FORMER TOP 4 STATUS AND EUROPEAN GLORY,NOT TO BE SATISFIED WITH A CC WIN(LUCKY AT THAT ON PENALTIES)AGAINST A CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE.THIS MANAGEMENT,THIS SQUAD=NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO REPRESENT EVERYTHING THAT IS LFC!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hodgson was a lame duck put in place that new owners could sack easily

He was never a serious candidate

    ReplyDelete
  45. Spot on Jamie...Messers Henry and Werner have a lot of decision making to do between now and the end of this season. They have to act this summer and `put the broom` through this current management and squad, otherwise we`ll be have these same dicussion posts this time next year!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mate, you must be the Chelski supporter, if you are, and you think we LFC fans(and I`ve been one for 40 years and will continue to be ok!!!),have to accept this mid table mediocrity, then you are a fruitcake for thinking our league position does`nt matter??!!Are you for real???do the math..on current form(the worst in the EPL ie.6 losses out of the last 7!!!!!!)...we`d be relegated if the season had started in Jan!!!Get your rose tinted KD glasses off and just accept these stats for a start....THIS IS THE WORST PERFORMING LIVERPOOL TEAM IN TERMS OF GOALS SCORED AND LEAGUE POINTS ATTAINED THE SINCE 1956-57 SEASON MY FRIEND!!!So if your happy with that and with your take on things, go support Bolton or Wigan!!!I want to see change this summer, for LFC to rightfully be top4 and in EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE within the next year or 2,NOT IN 10 YEARS TIME!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I used to support you Jamie but your agenda against Suarez and your negativity against Dalglish (following on from negativity about Rafa) is annoying. Suarez is not to blame for the abject performances. Lack of decent ball in box is the key issue. I wish you'd just try and say what you feel the solution is rather than slagging off what's happening and who you believe is responsible

    ReplyDelete
  48. The problems are deeper. The supporters think Liverpool have a right to be better and the management seem to be the same. The players are playing for the end of the season and nobody is looking forward to the next game.

The problems at Anfield are far deeper than anything that the owners can implement in the short term. But Kenny does need to go for the club to at least start a proper process of rebuilding, free from sentiment and delusion.

  49. in our team there was too much English

  50. suarez is surrounded by incompetent players, hence he does so well at international. i can remember thinking the same when torres was all alone up front with no service and a midfield so deep. but im not comparing the 2, suarez seems like genuine man who would fight till the end.
can only hope for fa cup glory then a massive shake up in the summer.
i dont care if half our team is under 21 next season, and its looking like a new man in charge is needed, with maybe a plan a, b and c for starters.

Doni doesn't even get a run, even in cup games!
Coates has been made felt like he is incapable and prob has no confidence after an outstanding competition in the Cops Libertadores!

just can not remember seeing such a team of gutless players.
we will not beat everton. then wat? will it hit home.
very unlike liverpool fans leaving games bfore the end, which goes to show. hard earned money to watch wat?

  65. SUAREZ is Liverpool! He has absolutely no one to play with , its sad he has to set up most of the goals instead of getting chances himself. Alot of times Suarez has to take on 3 guys at once just to get a shot off cause no one even cares about the rest of the crappy players liverpool have. Bring some young talent that can atleast give one two's! I hope Suarez leaves Liverpool cause he can be really effective on a team with structure and hes proved it on Uruguay and when he played for Ajax

  67. "Unhappy Luis Suarez" Wow, you like creating headlines, don't you Jaimie? He's unhappy cause we're not playing well, thats normal for any player.

  68. Kenny had the team purring again last season when he took over.
He brought in a few British players so we will be in line with the new FIFA "Homegrown" rule whenever it comes in to play.
He spent money last season as it was, possibly, the last season to spend big and not fall foul of the FIFA fair play rules which will be coming into force soon.

Some of our performances at the start of the season were very good, apart from getting humped at Spurs. All we really needed was a more clinical finisher - think about it, we've hit the woodwork more than any other team, there's 20+ goals, we've missed, what is it, 5 penalties? Again, games could have been won had they gone in.
Lucas & Gerrard being injured have cost us and we seem to have hit a downward spiral since Suarez was banned.

The players brought in since FSG took over are NOT shite players, well, they weren't last season but, for some reason, they have failed to perform to their expected standard for Liverpool. Personally, I put this down to trying to settle in and having too many new players in the team at the same time. I know they're professional sportsmen on ludicrous wages who commanded even more ludicrous transfer fees but, at the end of the day, they're still human beings. Ronaldo wasn't the player he is today when he first signed for UTD, RVP was always good but never THIS good, the list goes on.

Sacking Kenny would be the stupidest thing since appointing Roy. He can and will steady the sinking ship. All this talk about player power is nonesense and, if there is a slither of truth in it, the players are trying it on with the wrong guy - this is Kenny Dalglish we're talking about, not some mediocre manager from an eternal relegation fight. This man has lifted every trophy from every competition he has ever played or managed in, with the exception of the Premier League in it's new format. He WILL get it righ if he is afforded patience and time. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to make us a competitive force, the players brought in to make us a force on the field also need time and a bit more support, not complete berating from certain members on here, the media or anyone else for that matter.
Stop being plastic fans and get behind the team and manager.
    YNWA

  69. it only takes one or two players to flop for the team to play poorly..thats how competitive the PL is..the onyl fault dalglish is at is his signigns..apart from that hes a great manager..

  70. It's good to see that there are still high sales of Rose-tinted spectacles. Keep on looking through them! Who knows the goal faerie might arrive.

    ReplyDelete
  71. With Hodgson it wasn't so much the results it was the way we played.  Way too defensive, we looked like we were trying to survive in the PL rather than going for top 4.  Hodgson didn't have the mentality to manage a top team.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Right on Mark, we don't need plastic fans. Dalglish will deliver. We have played better football on most occasions without deserved rewards. Give the players time. This is definitely not the time to be slagging of our players and our manager. What will all of the moaners say when we do start winning matches as we surely will. This is not a deluded fan speaking but one who knows that building a successful team takes time and patience. YNWA must mean something. Don't just pay lip service to what makes us Liverpool fans.

  73.  I agree with u my brother. Just you did not add that kenny  daglish and pepe reina should go.

  74. I love it Fuwee that is the perfect description of Hendo. Fuwee i can not stop laughing seriously you are absolutely spot on i have seen ever since he came at first i thought he was nervous and now i know i was right thank you best comment i have ever read on here....... thanks mate.

  75. Between the looks in the good old days as a player and now on the touchline, its either we are seeing a caricature or ...... And I laugh because he has once coached,  is it Newscastle or Blackburn for the love of Liverpool. Just can't sum it.

  76. What about Fabio Cappello as LFC Manager. Hes

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hey Mark you talk about FFA fair play bullshit if this is the last season to spend big than why did he spend big on useless English crap, if you say that they will come good than you know shit about football not to mention wouldn't you prefer (if last season to spend big) to get some real world class footballers to Anfield, so that our academy boys will learn from some of the best.  Fuwee up above has described the way Hendo plays to a tee. Sterling showed more class, power ,speed and passion in 15mins of football than Hendo has showed all season yet he has played 15mins of football for the whole season. KK is living in the past and by the way KK really came good at Newcastle too didn't he?
Im sorry Mark KK has lifted every trophy he has played in and managed in... he inherited a good LFC side when he won the title and it is not the shit he has been in that will bring the club the money and the players it needs,  the CL is what todays players want to play in and owners want to win because of the money involved. Wake up because you and KK are still stuck in the past, we need a manager to take us into the future.

    ReplyDelete
  78. So the main concern for fans like you is 'the world' not to see that we're unhappy how the things are going? Just wake up - 'the world' is not universal enemy of the club (or any club) and everyone can see what's going on anyway.
If this is not the time to go criticizing the people who caused this trouble, what time it is there for that then? And I don't know about you, but 'faith' is definitely not the number 1 reason I support Liverpool Football Club. I support the club because I love it, and that's not the same as faith, as much as some want to portray it.

  79. So when do we start talking about Rafa coming back?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Chi Bai lu. I told you guys a  manager's second stint at the club will end into a failure. Look  across Stanley Park and see how Howard Kendall bungled even after 5 years interval, what more 20 years ! My Puki Mak wishes to all the players in the team. Time to kunkit now.

  81. tornike. your a toss bag.
    end of story

  82. Love seeing how some realize they can't manage proper argument and switch to name calling. Cheers for another illustration of clueless head-in-the-sand 'fan' army I was talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Liverpool's wound will be cured by Rafa. With limited transfer funds, he is the only manager that came close to dethrone Ferguson's devils. Bring him back.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The difference between Rafa and KD....Rafa spent with the money he generated from CL prize or sell before he can buy. Even big portion of the money spent by KD was made by Rafa. Torres was signed by Rafa with the CL prize money after the 2007 CL final but KD wasted the 50mil from the sale of Torres on Carrol and Downing!!! Under Hick and Gillett Liverpool paid 40 mil loan interest per annum whereas under Henry KD was given RM120 mil to spend in just 2 transfer windows. Under Rafa we wacthed CL football week in week out beating elite clubs like Barca, Madrid, Milan, Inter....under KD we can't even beat the likes of Wigan, QPR, Swansea, Norwich at Anfield....if Rafa was given the 120 mil in 2008 he could have added Silva, Aquero, Alves to the squad and very likely we would have won the EPL in that season but of course the racist English media and pundits may not like it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sorry about that, Tornike. That idiot has now been banned.

    ReplyDelete
  86. ......and you think KD has? We are STILL trying to survive in the EPL man!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Tornike, you cannot dismiss everybody who disagrees as being unreasonable and governed by blind faith. At the very least, you are guilty of gross exaggeration. You talk about a 'terrible season'. Well. Let's just imagine that we win the FA Cup, to go with The Carling Cup .... would you rather be Arsenal (winning nothing again), Man City (looks like winning nothing) or Chelsea (likely to win nothing), or even Spurs (about to lose their manager and several best players to follow). So, according to your reasoning, almost every club is in crisis. Once we 'unluckily' lost to Arsenal, the 4th place was gone. In the league, we have no great incentive beyond professional pride. So when you meet teams fighting for survival or champions league qualification, you are likely to have problems, especially if you rest 3 when you have 5 out injured. You need to get some perspective and balance. It is disappointing, but nothing like as bad as you paint. 18 months ago, there almost was no Liverpool FC, we were sinking in a mountain of debt and interest payments, and had an awful manager nobody believed in. The club is now in the hands of responsible owners, and a management team who truly cares about the club's future. Seems to me thats a very positive place to start. And yes we are only starting. So let them get on with it and stop all this insane panic, fueled by 24 hour nonsense media coverage.

  88. go support utd tossa

    ReplyDelete
  89. sure, because torres and mereiles have been massive successes at chelsea, right, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  90. stupid comment. lucky cup win against championship team on penalties, right LOL, after winning AWAY at STOKE, CHELSEA, AND MAN CITY. get some balance

    ReplyDelete
  91. actually i have supported liverpool for more than 30yrs. im not happy with the way the team is playing or the league position we are in but there is nothing we can do this year about getting into the champs league. if youve watched the games this season you would see we have been very unlucky with refereeing decisions aswell as hitting the woodwork maybe next season we may get a bit of luck. all im saying is give KD a chance, see what he does in the summer & if we are in the same position next season then he has to go. theres no point changing managers every few years. ok tell me who should be the new manager??

    ReplyDelete
  92. are you mad get rid of raina you are mad think about it mate

    ReplyDelete
  93. it's not what they are doing at Chelsea, it is what we've done with the money that was the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  94. shut up ffs..... we've had a bad season, and dalglish has done a poor job managing and in transfer markets..... wish you people could look beyond our carling cup win and look at the bigger picture...... sure hes basically hiding all the cracks by saying ''we've made progress off the field'', this is just hiding the truth or how badly we're doing on it... if it was any other manager ya would be callin for his head..... FACT!!!!! as fans, we have the right to criticize, we pay the wages, we make the club what it is..... so basically ur saying, if the club was languishing in 15th position, we still shouldnt criticize the players or management??? catch a grip of yourself...... frustration, criticism and voicing an opinion is what being a fan is all about, if your happy enouh in 8th position and 16points behind fourth, then your not a true fan.....

    IN RAFA WE TRUST!!!!! YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  95. 8 points out of 36 is not bad? Only Wolves are playing worse than us this year. Lucky we played them this year.

Winning cups is great, but normally is done by teams who are actually one of the best in the country. Pompey and Birmingham are exceptions to that rule, and we are looking like being the same. What happens when we don't have cup runs to fall back on? We've had no european campaign this season, which makes our performance even worse. Other clubs are overtaking us and catching up with us. Where is this improvement for next season going to come from?

All the teams that you mention, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City, are more likely than us to win cups in the future because they are, basically, better teams than us. And why do you class Chelsea as 'likely to win nothing' but say 'just imagine that we win the FA Cup'? I reckon they have a better chance than we do.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Even if Kenny an Comoli identify some real talent in the summer they will not want to join under the current management.
Even without champions league football I think Rafa could attract some quality players because he is such a well respected manager and with the current owners he would make us a force again.
Kenny does not deserve another season and neither does Comoli, the club has gone backwards not forwards.
He has not earned the right as a manager to have another season.
I really hope he can swallow his pride and step down because these fans that just cant accept that he is not the right man for the job will cause problems with the owners.

Fans saying he needs more time, that is only justified when progress has been made and it clearly hasn't.

Get a grip on reality and accept it legend or not he is only making us worse.

    ReplyDelete
  97. kenny has had the right line up and kept on changing it, a good team sticks to their star players and whats the deal by not playing maxy.
love kenny as a man x player but as a coach he just don't cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Well, if that War is a 'go over the top' World War 1, lambs to the slaughter style campaign, I don't think i would want to be rushing head first into battle with you either!

    ReplyDelete
  99. They're not rose tinted mate, far from it. I'm being a realist and, as most successful teams have shown, it takes time to build a successful team. If we change manager at the end of the season, it'll mean even more disruption to what we have. Look at Chelsea now, they've been changing manager every season (or less) since Jose left and what have they won?
Man City spent big under Hughes and they have only 1 FA Cup to show for close to a BILLION pounds spent and a start studded squad.
Arsenal have won less than us in the last 6 years, fair enough they are in the Champions League every season but they still will nothing.
The only consistent team in the PL is Man Utd and they've had Fergie for ever but do you remember the start he made when he took over?
It's like reading the ramblings of Kevin & Perry on here, too many dummies being spat out of too many prams.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Patience, not many people know what that means any more!

    ReplyDelete
  101. If you read his book, you'll find out why he never made it at Newcastle.
Useless English crap? Is that a racist comment right there?
Arsenal were slated for years for playing a team of foreigners, now Dalglish is getting the same criticism for fielding a British core to his side. I've read all about 'foreign mercenaries' going to UK teams for a payday and people moaned now you're moaning about a team of mostly Brits!

I agree with you about Sterling though, he's going to be a world beater.

Finally, do a bit of reading, please, Barnes, Aldridge, Houghton & Beardsely were Kenny's buys, not inherited.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Racist English media pundits not liking what, buying foreign players? So we should buy British instead?

I don't care where a player comes from, what colour, religion or orientation they are, if they can play football and are good enough to wear the red shirt and wear it with pride and convicion, then they're good enough for me.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Totally agreed mate - fwiw, over the summer, all that I can remember Comolli going on about was Matuidi. Another ball winner in central midfield. We brought in two central midfielders, neither of which can be characterised as ball winners, so I think that says quite a lot about Comolli's 'control' of transfer decisions.

btw, sticking with the wrong man is even more detrimental to a club than taking a gamble with an unknown quantity. Just look at how long it took us to recover from Souness' reign!

    ReplyDelete
  104. There are PLENTY of managers that could do a better job at LFC, regardless of their current profile.

And luck can be talked about over a handful of games, but over a whole season it no longer carries any validity as an excuse. Liverpool are where we are in the league because of the mismanagement of the squad; both on matchdays, and in the transfer market.

(fwiw, Rijkaard, Bilic & Vilas Boas are names that instantly come to mind as available upgrades over Dalglish, but there are many out there waiting for the opportunity to work with the tools that Liverpool would afford them)

    ReplyDelete
  105. Waiting around with sitting ducks is never any good for the club.

We did it with Houllier, Benitez, Hodgson and most notably with Sounnes, and on each occassion things just got worse rather than better...

    ReplyDelete
  106. I wish he never came to LFC. Realistically. What are his contributions To us??  How many goals has he scored? Cash in on him if a good offer comes. Let's move on. We have bigger problems at hand right now then Luiz S. He has caused the club big time Grief and .........

    ReplyDelete
  107. The owners need to sack Comolli for his blunders. The burden is on KK to perform with the load of expensive mediocre players signed by Comolli.
