A few weeks ago, Feyenoord very publicly expressed a desire to re-sign Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt, and this week, HSV Hamburg joined the list of club's vying for Kuyt's services. Given his reduced playing time this season, it seems likely that the Dutch international will leave in the summer, and according to his Agent, he won't be short of potential suitors.
Yesterday, Hamburg director Frank Arnesen confirmed that the Bundesliga club is a great admirer of the Kuyt. He told Bild:
"Kuyt is still very fit and strong and still has a lot to offer. He is a big-hearted player with a great spirit, and there is no doubt he can give a great deal to whichever club he plays for. He is an excellent team player, very impressive all round, so we will see what happens".
Kuyt's Agent Rob Jansen refused to confirm if Kuyt was open to a Bundesliga move, but made it clear that the Dutchman is coveted:
"There have not been any talks with Arnesen or with someone else from HSV. Would Kuyt be interested in a move to the Bundesliga? I can't say anything about that. A lot of clubs have made enquiries, but there's nothing concrete for now"
It's hard to believe, but Kuyt - who cost Liverpool 10m in 2006 - has been directly responsible for 23% of all Liverpool's goals since he arrived in 2006. That's a fantastic return for a converted right-midfielder, but I think it's definitely the right time for him to move on.

yeeep and good luck to him, he has been a decent player and i think has been played in the wrong position all that time (as usual being at liverpool, thats what we do). I think he would have been a great poucher but hey. But he always gave 110% all the best mate.
ReplyDeletehe is a great player that never fails to give 100% he stuck with us at the hardest of times such a shame that he didn't pick up that many winners medals all he has to show 4 it right now is a carling cup
ReplyDeleteWud be sad to see him go after all these years and for his contributions but I guess that's the best option for him, I hope Dalglish leaves the buying of new players to someone else and we buy alteast one world class striker .
ReplyDeleteYep, i think it's time for him and us to move on, we need to freshen up the squad IMO, bring some new talent to the Club.
ReplyDeleteCan't see Kuyt being happy on the bench so i wouldn't begrudge him leaving thats for sure.
Another Yep from me JK. Kuyt has been a stalwart for LFC since he signed. Never a prolific scorer but a fantastic workrate. Always just lacked something for me though. But definately time for him to move on make room for some of the youngsters to come through (ha I must be dreaming)
ReplyDeletethink it's time to move him on.
ReplyDeletehe's proven over the years that's he's a big game player.
shame he was never given a proper run as an out and out striker because that's what he was bought for.
i reckon him and maxi will be gone in the summer.
the squad needs freshening and some pace in the wide areas.
Kuyt should only be sold if Liverpool are going to replace him with a proper right winger. Otherwise using Henderson at right wing and selling Kuyt makes no sense.
ReplyDeletekuyt has to be well pissed at watching henderson play ahead of him and put in poor performances week after week.
ReplyDeleteYes think it is time for Kuyt to leave. He's been a great servant to the club but he's had a poor season culminating in that terrible miss against Villa. We desperately need to get some pace and quality on the wings. Adam Johnson would be my choice with maybe Moses from Wigan too. Give Sterling some more playing time too and hopefully we will have a lot more threat from the wings next season.
ReplyDeleteBefore he leave let win the FA cup with him.
ReplyDeleteGreat player. Every side needs a player like Kuyt. Not, the best first touch. But, a work horse who never gives up. Lucas is in the similar sort of vein. Never lets his head drop. That goal contribution is something his detractors should think about. He has come in for some stick from a section of our fan base.
ReplyDeleteKuyt should stay and mentor Luuk De Jong who is a must buy this summer 21 yrs old and 10m a must .Dirk has a yr to run on his contract and a 1m buy clause so why sell weve been a Striker short all season let him run his contract down and go summer 2013 with a big thankyou from everyone at LFC dont forget hes been a great servant for our club
ReplyDeletedo as for me, kuyt is a great player but he as not be featuring for sometime now and for such situation a player would not be fit for his best and more also it will be a great loss for a player like kuyt to be out of liverpool team as stronger and constaint as he is.................
ReplyDeletehe works so hard and the club still needs him
ReplyDeleteget a life jamie
ReplyDeleteI thought you were always a critic of kuyt, jaimie? I remember arguing with you about his respective merits, you were find of saying that we could do so much better than him, that he goes for games on end without any contribution. Now you recognise he has been involved in 23% of goals since he's been here and now that's a 'fantastic return for a converted right midfielder'. Bit of a change of tune. He's been a great signing for us but definitely time to move on and for us to being in some fresh legs
ReplyDeleteDo you ever stop being narrow minded? It's called being fair. Everything I've said about Kuyt in the last still stands, but unlike those who are inflexible of mind, I can also acknowledge the good things he's done too.

Narrow minded? What's that referring to exactly? If you were being fair you would have acknowledged his contribution instead of overly criticising him previously. I remember pointing out that season we came second that he had contributed as many goals/assists as Rooney had for utd but that wasn't enough for you. I make the previous point at your turn around in opinion then get abuse by being labelled narrow minded. Then you'll either delete this response or come back with your favourite line 'go elsewhere then'!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You should try doing research first before making yourself look stupid. I've praised and criticised Kuyt in equal measure over the last 5 years - ah, f**k it; I have better things to do than waste my time on people like you.
ReplyDeleteDunno why you support the club fella....all you do is moan about us.
ReplyDeleteI reckon your a Red scum in disguise.
Has been such a useful player and still been useful off the bench this season. I don't see the club moving on Downing and Hendo off so soon, yet we need to improve the team, let alone the squad. So the likes of Maxi and Kuyt are the likely candidates to be pushed out to make room for newcomers. Like Maxi, he doesn't seem to have the trust of KK to start games more, so he is better off out of here
ReplyDeleteYep, time to move on dirk, thanks for all your effort,a good pro, but never really good enough to play for us in my opinion, we need to be signing quality players if we want to be at least champions league places and challenging for titles, and before any1 disagrees, ask yourself this, would city, utd, chelsea or arsenal sign him, i think not .........
ReplyDeleteI will always love Kuyt. If he does move on this summer, best of luck to an amazing player, not technically, but whole heartedly.
ReplyDeleteAlways gives a 100% even when coming on as a sub, but probably time for him to move on has been a good servant even though he hasn't won anything!.
ReplyDeleteKuyt is in no world woth 10m sadly
ReplyDeleteKuyt failed as a striker at Liverpool before being accomodated with a place out wide.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's directly contributed what, 50 goals in the 6 years he's been at Liverpool? Liverpool have scored a lot more than 200 goals in that time, so I'm not sure where that 23% stat comes from...
Why's would Kuyt be pissed at finally being treated in a manner that his performances deserve?? Kuyt has put in more than his fair share of poor performances, not only this year but throughout his time at Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteEvery lower level team needs a workhorse to help them overcome the deficiencies against superior teams every week.
ReplyDeleteTop teams need technically gifted match-winners that can make something out of nothing, particularly out wide.
Park @ Utd???? As Jamie pointed out. 23% of all goals Liverpool have scored have been directly attributed to Kuyt. You obviously miss the contribution he gives to the team. Kuyt was one of the main reasons Torres flourished when we played utd. dont bother replying your an idiot and will receive no more of my time.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he is. Henderson is skillful with the ball juggling and all that. He would do well in a circus. He should go on loan or for good. He isn't good as a footballer. Not especially for LFC. In the current squad, he is so average....... in the reserve team. He must be related to Kenny in some ways. Nephew ? Cousin or an ex-girl friend's son ? There must be something .... We must find out !!! Hee hee Hee !!!
ReplyDeletei dont know what football was like 20 years ago but im sure dirk would have been class then too....give dirk more playing time.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. He's given his all for the club, won a trophy now and is probably past his best in any case.
ReplyDeleteOne playmaker in the squad could make all the difference. If we could find a Silva, Mata or Modric type player, at the right price, things might improve. We need more flair and less workhorses in future.
we love making uncommon mistakes @ LP, how on earth would some1 explain turning players like Peter Cr out and buy a mediocre like Andy C for such an unthinkable amount. I hope the Ghost of D Kuyt too would not come back to haunt us at Afield. I wish Dirk the best
ReplyDeleteYou're really going to compare the use of Park with Kuyt?? Man U rightly use him as a 4th choice winger and just roll him out for special occasions, whereas we've made Kuyt an integral part of our attack over the last half decade!
ReplyDeleteAnd just because Jamie writes something, that doesn't make it fact. For Kuyt to have contributed 23% of our goals, the team would have had to have averaged less than 40 goals a season over his 6 years...
In your opinion sticking with Kuyt helped Torres flourish against one team; in my opinion, sticking with Kuyt helped to hold Liverpool back from achieving further success overall.
