Video: Liverpool's Sebastian Coates scores a great scissor-kick goal vs. QPR

Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates scored his first ever goal for Liverpool tonight, and what an fantastic strike it was too.

Liverpool came out of the blocks like gangbusters at Loftus Road and notched up eleven corners in the first 20 minutes of the game.

QPR came back into it during the second period of the first half but then Coates came up with a sublime finish to put Liverpool 1-0 ahead.

Coates 1-0

  1. Does the assist for Kuyt's goal go to Downing (first league assists)? If so, miracles truly do happen, even if it was via keeper save

    ReplyDelete
  2. Downing gets both assists

Pity Coates couldn't challenge Derry for the ball instead of trying to impede him

    Pity Skrtel did similar

Pity Enrique made a rare mistake

    Embarassing to throw that away

  3. Knew we would get punished for allowing Zamora to receive balls to his feet just outside 6 yard box, what was that all about??

  4. And QPR shows LFC what bottle is, and win!

  5. 15 minutes of players thinking they had won the game at 2 nil.

  6. Terrible result just had to see the game out.

  7. Spurs drop 2 points, it was a chance for us to eat up some points but i guess CL football doesn't matter to some and its all about domestic cups, so who cares.....

  8. maybe Jamie is right and kenny isnt the man for the job. these performances are becoming the norm for us and not the exception. diabolical. just pathetic.

  9. and before anyone suggests that was KK's fault, i am sorry but the players stopped got sucker punched and then capitulated, KK was like the rest of us watching in utter horror. Did the players find out the score to the tottenham and chelsea game???

  13. Kenny = no tactics ....what was that about at 2-0 ... bringing on Carroll? To make Carroll happy? When last have we controlled a game? Arsenal win 1 - 0 at Everton, and we can't hold a 2-0 scoreline. speechless

  14. Disgusting display 2-0 up and to throw the game away. The players should be ashamed of themselves.

  15. Totally agree. Taking Suarez off was a mistake, and completely pointless. He wasn't happy about it either, and was shaking his head as he left the field. QPR were given a psychological boost when Suarez went off, and Liverpool paid the price.

  16. Dalglish shud be nowhere near Anfield next season...and take the dross o players that he bought with him!

  17. Thats what you get in believing in KD. Proven so many times that LFC are years behind and people are in fantasy land once more. Maybe tonights result will actually put some sense into people

  18. Last game I will be watching
    Get kenny out now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. why on earth do we not play shelvey?? he is better than both adam and henderson already, it seems to make no sense leaving a player with that talent on the bench week in week out he will only get better

Don't count on the Kenny Dalglish Fanclub calling for him to go.
They will be clinging to the FA cup now.

  23. Kenny is the effing manager!!! of course it's his fault!! He bought the damn players he works with them everyday..

  24. i`ve come on to this site,to defend kk,the trouble with liverpool,is we have a very poor keeper, pepe is over rated,by a good playing lfc side, when put under the slightest threat, everything is going in,defend him all you want, with his record, but thats down to a good defence, eventually he will cost kk his job, there are many better keepers, hell i`d rather have paddy, from qpr,the guy is a complete joke.i know people wont agree but i find his performances, very poor, when the last time he got a descent rating of seven and above,or man of the match,as last defender,he has got to be rid of for next season,if kk,not seeing it now,he will not last,no matter how much he spends in the summer, the guy could`nt stop a beach ball.

  25. BTW I notice the 'Arry for England chants have gone deafeningly quiet in the press these days! Dalglish is in over his head...his tactics are always shocking and his selection suspect. Its like the fellow doesnt know how to read a game...know when to hold the ball...slow it down....absorb pressure etc. The squad we have is woefully thin. Most of our players would never make first team for any of the top 6 clubs, bar probably suarez, stevo and pepe. some major surgery needed. Could never even dream of taking such players to europe...this is a carling cup team with a carling cup coach! fookin Dalglish!!

  26. KD has to justify his buys why he keeps playing the same crap over and over. If nothing is changed next season lfc will be fighting relegation and will go down

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm not gonna overreact but kenny should go he's not good or smart enough to take Liverpool forward That Athletic Bilbao manager would have Liverpool playing with passion and style I'd get him

    ReplyDelete
  28. i think kenny feels he has to play his signings as they were 'his' signings he needs to summon up the balls to admit he might of been wrong and give other players a chance, there is nothing to loose in playing some of the reserve players now and it will probably turn out more positive than how it is going right now

    ReplyDelete
  29. IF KD was HODGSON he would have been hounded OUT, and his CR*P signings OUT with him, he is just as CLUELESS as Roy, and this is coming from KD's supporter!.

    ReplyDelete
  30. And...........WHY bring Carroll with 2-0 up????????, totally CLUELESS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. And we saw what a diff a change in Management can do, as happened at Chelsea.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Agreed, got worried as he was substituted

    He hounded QPR all night

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lol...at least something to laugh about..good one

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kick Kenny's Carrol has to go>  They are pathetick, they DO NOT belong to LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ridiculous! How can we lose from 2-0 up ffs! They have to go, Downing, Adam (especially, gives possession away more than the academy lads) Henderson, Carroll. £100m piece of crap signings. Sack the frog commoli as well the guy should have done some scouting. We will just get worse with these predictable mid-table players with the exception of Gerrard, Suarez, Skrtel, Reina, Agger and Bellamy

    ReplyDelete
  36. don't worry guys. we're 3 points ahead of swansea! and in the europa.  :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. What was KD saying earlier about anyone coming in during the summer would have to be "a hell of a player" to improve the squad? Yes, Kenny, they will have to be.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sorry to say it but have to agree with you. Been thinking it but not saying it

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't know whats worse really, having to endure this shitty season in the league or having to endure the kind of BS that follows results and performances like this........

Why is it that nobody can see what is really going on???

Its not fcuking difficult to work out FFS, let me spell it out...P.L.A.Y.E.R. P.O.W.E.R................

We have been throwing games....and this is yet another one which we chose to throw....and by "we" i mean a certain clique of players consisting of REINA SUAREZ ENRIQUE along with a few others. but NOT Gerrard, not Downing not Hendo not Carra not Carroll not Kelly not Bellamy and not even Adam and that is how it really is.

Kenny is being made to look like an idiot by these fcukers......and the Club owners have a huge problem on their hands to deal with.....

I've said it before and i'll say it again this problem will not go away by itself, we will have to ship out at least 4 or more players in the summer IF we want to progress next season, for sure there is a cancer at the Club and it seriously needs to be removed once and for all.

Roy was brought down by the players, and now Kenny is being brought down by some of the same players..........

Shocking state of affairs considering the money they are on, of course this isn't to say that Kenny has not also been adding his own negative imput by constantly tinkering with a winning formula, why oh why did he not play Carroll tonight???????

Some serious changes needed, things have to change.....

    ReplyDelete
  40. Henderson, not Coates to blame for 1st goal, sorry Seb!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, i was concerned that the management could not get the team up for picking up as many points as possible and that all this nonsense about winning stuff would start to make the team lose intensity in the league games. And, sure enough, when they needed to roll their sleeves up, they were not up for it and got turned over by a team they had dominated. And while Tottenham and Chelsea are dropping points. Explains why those teams are so far ahead of us already. We could have put pressure on those teams but now we have certainly blown it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Been saying it for weeks! But was told that it is not easy to find a keeper of his level! I say that, for the fee he would command, we could get another keeper at half the price and strengthen the team elsewhere. Even if we'd brought in someone like Friedel for a season, on a free, we'd have made a huge profit. I think Reina could have done a lot more for the first two goals.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It was about Spearing not marking him. Lucas, Masch or Agger would never have allowed it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. LOL! Have to agree on this one. Kenny trusts the players too much. We are in sore need of drills to impose an attacking shape and to eliminate blindsides in defence.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Like? He was caught out of position. He was facing where the immediate threats were.

    ReplyDelete
  46. He hardly ever commands his area, the number of goals we concede from that close in are too many. He hardly ever comes for anything.

And people believed that winning the Carling Cup was going to introduce a winning mentality into the team? Looks like it has done the opposite.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with you. I only like Reina's personality, and distribution skills. Hes very quick in closing out breakaways, and clearing the ball as well as dishing it out. But in my mind he isn't no game changer, like Hart or Vorm, that will put out a world-class save. Ye sure Reina does it here and there, but its all about consistency, and the real fact is that Liverpool hardly get shots coming in from opposition most of the time, but there is always a goal conceded. If Liverpool were peppered with shots , I just wonder how Reina would handle it, I am not too optimistic. Could just be bad luck eh, Kenny.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great goal from Coates, especially for a debut goal. The power of the shot was unreal. He's a center-back, and Carroll can only dream of scoring a goal like that let alone attempt one in real life. Maybe that's a little unjust because not many players can do this but why can't Dalglish just raid the South American Leagues for their players. British players are just so over-rated and hyped up by the fame and recognition from the media. Go and watch the Brazilian league and see how the players maintain possession with control, and play with passion, skill and flair. I seriously think some south-american teams would piss on some of the teams in EPL. EPL is just barbaric in terms of tactical play except for the top teams, and play physically clumsy. Liverpool are starting to look like one of those teams because of some "players" in the squad. Bring's me back to the point of British players. Why are they so expensive? It's a rip-off to think you can buy a player like Yohan Cabaye, while British players are priced as jewels.  I think Carroll only made it at this level because hes tall, and was potentially seen as a talent to dealing with the physicality of the Premier League, I don't see any strengths other than he's tall.

  49. Carra the legend....he could only dream to score a goal like that..not in a million years...

    ReplyDelete
  50. I disagree with you! It is manager who injects the discipline and approach towards a game in players. A player knows very well what he can get away with and what he will be held accountable for by his manager. So players act according to manager's directions and his grip over the players.

I would blame Manager for the disaster. Kenny is acting like a blind man and has got a few favourites in squad. A culprit should be punished immediately but it does not happen at the moment. Pepe Reina screwed up a number of times. In last a few games, Enrique is caught is possession on too many occasions and let the opposition cross in the box but he was not punished for his mistakes though Aurelio is fit.

Adam and Henderson are not stepping up when needed, yet Shelvey is not given chance instead of them. Carroll flops again and again but manages to get in team.

It is clear that Kenny favours certain players he bought. This is going to create division in squad and performance of the team is going to be affected.

  51. I think we should give Coates chance as a striker instead of Caroll, he just showed that he knows where is what in the penalty area

    ReplyDelete
  52. Give Kenny his dues, he has restored the Liverpool way to the squad and we have been playing some fantastic football at times.  He has also brought it back to LFC as a whole and fixed a lot of the damage Hicks & Gillett left behind.  That being said there is clearly a problem on the pitch which he is not dealing with quickly enough.  A lot of comments mention how he is sticking with his signings despite their poor performances but then I would say that most managers do that...  Look at Rafa with Lucas?  People were questioning Lucas from the start and now he is one of our best players.  Yes some players need the belief and encouragment from being regularly started etc but there must come a time when action is taking if they are showing no progression.  Lucas was weak so he went away and bulked up and steadily developed his game.  Henderson is young and needs time to develop his game too, especially being played out of position on the right but he will come good but should such an attacking position be left regularly to someone who is not quite ready??  Same can be said for Carroll.  We all saw what he was doing at Newcastle but at LFC he is being playing in a different system and is struggling to adapt but there is no question of the talent he possesses - we just need to find the best way to get it out.

However on the other hand Adam and Downing are supposed to be proven premiership players yet neither of them are consistent or getting anywhere near their potential - they both need to be moved on as soon as possible.

It is clear to all that we are playing excellent attacking football at times but that it is all falling apart in the final third so my question is, if we can keep giving Carroll, Henderson, Adam & Downing chance after chance in the first team yet they all continue to fail why can we not give some of our reserve players a shot??  Sterling, Suso, Coady and Morgan are all on fire for the reserves at the moment so why not give them their chance to shine in the 1st team.

  53. I am sorry but i hear some say Reina is the problem , some say that he has to go, well i think that we panic all the time, Enrique slipped that was shit, we could blame a few players for how the goals went in. In the end we let them back in the game and its not the first time. Now i don't know if Reina is the problem but i think we have bigger problems than Reina and he is one of the best goal keepers in the game. We need players who can finish teams off and a manager that whats to finish teams off, i do not think that KK is the manager LFC needs to take us back to the top, why take Suarez off at 2-0? why would you stop at 2-0? it just amazes me, i think KK is trying too hard to correct his mistakes and maybe he is wishing that Carroll,Downing,Henderson & Adam might be the players he hoped for, but now i think that we are going to be stuck with these players or lose huge on them. People can say what they like but Rafa is a better manager than KK in my opinion, whether its him or not get us someone please because it is one thing to be patient and another to watch our club give games away.

    ReplyDelete
  54. You mentioned Lucas, you just cannot compare him to the likes of the very, very average players, KD signed, for MASSIVE outlay.

For one, Lucas is brazilian, Carroll,Adam,Downing and Henderson, are all totally overpriced british players, why he went and wasted so much LFC funds, on these players, to put it bluntly, is a disgrace, my grandad could have done better, or anybody, for that matter!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. that's what have you saying for days now.....Kenny is not the man for this job, because he doesn't have a good tactics. we need someone like Benitez who we could reply on or some good coaches out there who could take to to CL. Kenny doesn't have first 11...how can that be ?

    ReplyDelete
  56. bring back rafa and give him the funds so he can buy average non english players like alonso, macherano, torres, etc etc lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. If I was manager this would be my starting line-up for the rest of the season.

                      Reina
          Kelly-skrtl-agger-enrique
       suso-gerrard-henderson-sterling
                suarez-carroll

And if hendersons form continues drop him for shelvey also start to play coates more for the remainder of the season because I think he should be in our starting 11 next season even if he isnt as good as skrtl or agger.
