Kenny Dalglish was clearly shell-shocked after Liverpool threw away a three goal lead against QPR earlier tonight, and after the game, he admitted that he couldn't explain how Liverpool ended up losing the game.
Speaking to LFC TV, Dalglish revealed that no one had said a word in the dressing room since the game had ended, and when asked about what went wrong, he responded:
"I think maybe there was a bit of apprehension over how they were going to react after the semi-final.
"We started fantastically well; we controlled the game and could've been 4-5 up at half time. Then, Out of nowhere they scored three.
"We don't have an explanation, except to say they [QPR] deserve a bit of credit. We should've been out of sight before that stage though.
"It's a difficult one to take. There was so much that was positive about the game. For much of game passing movement was positive. We just have to learn that it isn't over till it's over".
I agree that there were positives to take out of the game but the reasons for the defeat are (IMO) blindingly obvious, but that's another article.
Reminder: Anyone who personally insults Dalglish or any of the players will be banned. Criticise, but do so in a civil manner.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Should Kenny be embarrassed by this shocking celebration of mediocrity?

pretty shell shocked myself. don't understand why he continues to change a winning team. time to blood some younger players now and regroup for next year
ReplyDeleteWe lost for a few reasons
ReplyDelete- we didn't capitalise on our chances and possession when on top
- we allowed Zamora to receive the ball into his feet far too often
- we didn't honestly try to challenge for the ball for QPR's first 2 goals
- Suarez should have stayed on the field for full 90
- we rejigged Carra out to right full when Kelly got injured, could we not have made a straight swap Flanagan for Kelly
Pretty obvious that this guy has no clue what he is doing... he is so out of his depth it amazing! FIRE DALGLISH NOW! And please clean out all fo the garabge he burdened us with! ... NESV.. FIRE DALGLISH NOW!
ReplyDeleteDalglish must go. Im just tired of the same old inconsistency problem
ReplyDeletei totally agree with simon 100%
ReplyDeleteYeh gud job kenny.. bringin on pretty boy hendo 4 adam.. it shud ov been shelvy at least he can PLAY!! N suarez duz too much in the box.. for god sake SHOOT!! 2 much dribblin.. n 2 headed goals! 8 place it is den
ReplyDeletei completely agree,we have nothing to lose throw young sterling in and morgan they have been doing well in the reserves, lets see what they got.also don't know what you guys think but reina has to come out for crosses a little more, cisse's goal was perfectly avoidable and the third as much as i like enrique,it was a joke.
ReplyDeletePosted this in another thread but it is more suited to this one....
ReplyDeleteI don't know whats worse really, having to endure this shitty season in the league or having to endure the kind of BS that follows results and performances like this........
Why is it that nobody can see what is really going on???
Its not fcuking difficult to work out FFS, let me spell it out...P.L.A.Y.E.R. P.O.W.E.R................
We have been throwing games....and this is yet another one which we chose to throw....and by "we" i mean a certain clique of players consisting of REINA SUAREZ ENRIQUE along with a few others. but NOT Gerrard, not Downing not Hendo not Carra not Carroll not Kelly not Bellamy and not even Adam and that is how it really is.
Kenny is being made to look like an idiot by these very "professional" football players......and the Club owners have a huge problem on their hands to deal with.....
I've said it before and i'll say it again this problem will not go away by itself, we will have to ship out at least 4 or more players in the summer IF we want to progress next season, for sure there is a cancer at the Club and it seriously needs to be removed once and for all.
Roy was brought down by the players, and now Kenny is being brought down by some of the same players..........
Shocking state of affairs considering the money they are on, of course this isn't to say that Kenny has not also been adding his own negative imput by constantly tinkering with a winning formula, why oh why did he not play Carroll tonight???????
Some serious changes needed, things have to change.....
Hey jaimie ... Why Max didn't play to night. Or is he pay as you play contract
ReplyDeleteShell-shocked? I'm speechless!!! Something is terribly wrong with this team. Jaimie, I feel worse than Kenny; I'm desperate to blame someone, but I don't even know who to blame. Maybe you can help me out on that one. I dodged from worked to watch this match. Now I don't know how I'm going to finish my work today, because my spirit is so low. I wish I was in England now, so I'll just settle for a few bottles of beer and then go to sleep, but it's still 6pm in the Missouri!!!
ReplyDeleteGutted!!!
kenny and the players have brought this on them selfs they dont care about the club and fans. this clubs has being brought to a new low and its not going to get better sacks kenny and these so call players
ReplyDeleteFulltime review: A DISGRACE as per usual, spineless letdown merchant chokers, they cant pass, cant dribble, cant shoot, sack Dalglish its never going to change!! and clear out the dross he brought in!!!.
ReplyDeleteKeny just doesn't rate him it seems, even though he and Suarez always link up really well. Suarez did an interview with the official site this week and he was full of praise for Maxi, obviously an indirect plea to Dalglish to play him more often.
ReplyDeleteSo all of the shitty Brit players are with queen kenny.. but all of the foreign players with actual talent are against him????
ReplyDeleteJust like with Houllier, Benitez and Hodgson, the buck ultimately stops with the manager. 99% of Dalglish's LFC career has been receiving plaudits - and rightly so - but he has to the criticism now for what's going on at Anfield.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Dalglish was severely let down again by some of his players (i.e. Reina, Enrique, Skrtel, Henderson etc), but he bought/picked the players, and he made all the 'tactical' decision during the game that ultimately led to Liverpool's downfall.
Jonjo shelvey didn't start a game since Wigan game. Do you know why ? He gave some enter view expressing himself.that is why Kd don't play him. It's so sad really Kd is sticking with his buys. This time is nothing to loose bring on some youngesters
ReplyDeletedon't worry guys. we're 3 points above swansea etc. and in the europa league. : :)
ReplyDeleteHey genius, how did you figure all that out. I certainly hope its not about pointing fingers at all the foreign players and excusing all the Brits.
ReplyDeleteIs it not the manager doing himself no favours by continuously overlooking everyone else other than his purchases?
In light of our results, would we be any worse off if Maxi, Shelvey and Sterling got a run out?
Oh wait, we have won the Carling Cup and may win the FA Cup so we have had an exceptional season.
I really can't explain Henderson's role in that team to be honest. Why did we not play Maxi, who can draw out players, link up well with Suarez, who can scores goals and bring other players into a game. One word to describe Henderson's performance tonight, as always: anonymous!!! How he gets playing time week in week out is the greatest mystery of this season. I'd rather have a young Sterling or Suso get all that time to graft into the team. This is so annoying.
ReplyDeleteAre you out of your mind? That is the most non-sensical thing I have ever read!
ReplyDeleteNot a mystery at all... He's British..and Dalglish bought him... that's his free pass..
ReplyDeletethe performance was good tonight, but the result was pathetic.
ReplyDeleteMark Hughes interview is a joke
ReplyDeleteJust seen the highlights on MOTD and good god there was some shocking defending going on, Liverpool may as well have gift wrapped QPRs goals for them and, once again, had so many chances the game could have been dead and buried, but they just couldn't take them.
ReplyDeleteWith the best will in the world for QPR this game should be a banker for a team with the players and resources of Liverpool regardless of whether its home or away.
12 points behind 4th on equal games played and any remote chance of that has surely gone, now its at the point where Liverpool will need to win the FA cup to make this season look like something other than a complete disaster.
Fact is that the pitch was extremely poor tonight and the team were well on top for most of the game. Once Barton went off, the crowd got behind their team, they seemed to go up a gear and our bench did nothing to try to take the sting out of them once they got a head of steam up. Two crosses, right into our 6 yard box, not properly contested. Derry and Cisse are not exactly towering headers of the ball. And the last goal was a joke, had Johnson been responsible for such a blunder, people would be calling for his head.
ReplyDeleteUltimately, though, the mental weakness the team displayed, once under a bit of pressure, was a real concern, and once the game started to run away from us, Kenny seemed clueless to stop it. There cannot continue to be excuses for these types of results, sure, the performance was better than some of our recent away performances, but when teams contrive to lose games that they ought to be winning comfortably, there is something seriously wrong.
Chelsea lost, Tottenham drew, we were 2-0 and should have been closing on those teams to give an outside chance of 4th place. And yet they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and now there is absolutely no chance that they can sneak into the top 4. If you cannot find reserves of determination and fight when you are 2-0 and have a chance to close on the teams above you, something needs to be changed and, in my opinion, it is the coaching set up, as much as any particular players.
ok ... switching off the telly now .. BBC News can't stop going on about "the big upset of the evening". sickening
ReplyDeleteWhat a goal by Coates, though! You don't see centre backs scoring goals like that every day, all the more disappointing that it did not contribute to a win.
ReplyDeleteWhat semi final Kenny ? You sound like a geezer from down the pub . Your the Manager of Liverpool Football Club . They haven't scored 3 goals in there last 20 games ( maybe exaggerating ) and they score 3 in last 20 minutes against us , for fucks sake Kenny go ,you've give it a go , cheers but . . . . .
ReplyDeleteNo, thats the point, they are NOT shitty Brit players.....but they are being made to look like it........
ReplyDeleteAnd Kenny is NOT a shit manager....but he is also being made to look like one....
Okay its fair enough to suggest that the buck stops with Kenny....it does, BUT how is it that we were actually quite dominant in this game and looked to be cruising when we went 2-0 up?
Individual player errors.........leading directly to goals cheaply conceded......, where was Reina??? What the fcuk was Enrique up to??? Its been happening all season......and with Reina it was also happening when Roy was in charge.......
Surely even you can see that there has been a pattern of this type of flip flopping form this season costing us points from silly errors.....?
Add to the fact that we have actually beaten some of the better sides albeit in Cup competitions but still.....we have at times played very well and Kenny has been praised etc....but just when we build up some momentum "we" go and fcuk it up.....again, in the same manner....
I have simply lost count of the amount of times Suarez has failed to capitalise on a good through pass etc or where he just loses the ball by running into a player looking like he's going to take them on but not really pulling it off...., our build up play has at times been very good, Spearing has been playing well, so has Gerrard, but the whole thing breaks down when it gets to Suarez......
Yes, he might be "trying" at times, but that should be expected shouldn't it????
Anyway, i'd like to hear anyone else try to explain exactly what is going wrong with our season again....
Blatantly obvious to me that like Chelsea we have player power issues which are largely dictating how are season pans out....
Kenny can be blamed for making some errors this season for sure, but IMO there are forces at play that NO manager would be able to deal with....
Basically IMO Kenny is in a lose lose situation just as Roy was....
ReplyDeleteIf certain players are not being totally professional and its costing us points then Kenny will have to face the music, thats how i see it.
He cannot drop Reina....he cannot drop Suarez....he cannot drop Enrique.....and if Lucas was in the side he wouldn't be able to drop him either.....
Yet, they have ALL put in some dreadful performances, way below their potential.....funny how we are quick to blame the Britsh shit....
Kenny can't explain!.. well I can.. three glaring mistakes in defence from a team who thought it was all over.. simple!
ReplyDeleteIt isn't over till its over , we'll keep doing what we're doing and see where it takes us ? Thank God your fast asleep Bill Shankly , what are they doing to our club ? THEY WILL HAVE TO SEND A TEAM FROM MARS TO BEAT US seems a million years ago , sorry Bill we are letting you down and you Bob
ReplyDeletePerfomance in the Main Pretty good as they have been all season.
ReplyDeleteStating the beelding obvious, lack of cutting edge has cost us.
we can moan whinge and play champ manager all day long, but I personally don't think that we are that far away from being a top 4 team again. The Plan, or what I would like to see rectified is the following.
a) choose a base formation and pick players that suit it
b) if there are weakness in positions, identify the player to play that position.
c) Sign a goalscorer, one that will fit the sides pattern of play.
d) sign intelligent footballers who can play anywhere!! (long shot!)
the contradictions of our signings and the failiures to perform I feel are down to positions and formations they are not used to playing.
1)adam can play in a 3 (433 or 451) mid or one of the 2 holding spots (4231) he cannot play in a 442.
2) downing can play wide in a 442 with the other players in the positions contributing, he can't really play in a 433 as his movement and passing is not technically great, he is an old fashoined winger, at best.
3)henderson is a central midfielder, not a right mid, you don't see wiltshire or lampard play right mid, and if the do it is not very good.
none of the above are bad players, they maybe average players but we are not getting the best out of them as we are not playing to thier strengths. this goes for carroll too.
a casing point is Skrtel at centre back or at full back. playing full back does not make him rubbish, its just he cannot play there.
some players can play in more than one position some can't, this need to be identified when scouting and signing players, otherwise we waste money on square pegs in round holes.
Fact is, in case anyone hadn't noticed, we are a million miles away from being good enough to make 4th place, for lots of reasons, and are just as likely, at this point, to slip further down the league than move up considerably.
ReplyDeleteOnce Swansea and Norwich get the extra premier league funds to pad out their squad a bit, they will be capable of contesting the carling cup with us and even that avenue might be closed to us. We had no european football this year, and all those with rose tinted spectacles were saying that this would help our league campaign this season. God help us if that has proved to be the case. The buys have been average, the squad has been poorly managed and the team simply is not up for the fight week in, week out.
Far too many fickle so called LFC fans on here quick to stick the knife in to Kenny and twist it smelling blood. Pack mentality. Kenny is being let down by individual player mistakes eg Reina...far too complacent in his position at the moment; shadow of the keeper he was and costing us games far too frequently; last three: Arsenal (beaten near post) Sunderland (beaten by his own head) QPR (beaten by his sheer apathy). 3 attempts on target by QPR when he's required to react quickly and actually spread his arms as a keeper to help stop the bloody ball going past him or come for a cross in the 6 yard box and help the defenders stop 2 headed goals! Nutmegged for the 3rd after Enrique's error - total humiliation! But that's right... let's all blame Kenny!
ReplyDeleteSo are you saying that the Brit crap brigrade that he brought have been putting in good performances?? Your a delusional moron... FIRE DALGLISH NOW!
ReplyDeleteyou really are obnoxious arent you GM yet another detractor based where ?
ReplyDeleteabdi nunez can i congratulate you on your firm grasp of the english language. also maxi didnt play because he isnt good enough
ReplyDeleteold and chesnut spring to mind
ReplyDeleteHe's only the manager, after all!
ReplyDeleteOne explanation is that KK, you have breeded a team that simply turns up for Cup games and don't give a monkeys about developing the strong and steel-like mentality that is required for a high position in the league.
ReplyDeleteWe turn up for big games and cup games, like we are some little club. Embarrassing.
Weak mentality has been bred at this club, partially by Rafa and now continued by KK. This includes going on and on about 'bad luck'. 'Bad luck' is a pathetic excuse for the weak.
Sadly no longer player manager!
ReplyDeleteSeriously ??? Your comparing the player power debacle at CFC to whats going on at LFC ???
ReplyDeleteYou pick out 3 players and try to fabricate this fantastical 'player power' reason for the dire straits we're in .
So Reina, Suarez and Enrique have gone out like the Chelsea mercenaries Lampard Terry Drogba & co and delibertly under-performed in order to undermine the manager.. They're involved in some gran masterplan to oust King Kenny.
Again .. Seriously ???
Take the 3 players in question.. Reina, certainly having a poor season by his standards, but lets not forget the 6 years of outstanding service that have forged those standards !! Enrique, admitidly has been poor in recent games, but has had an outstanding debut season by and large. And Suarez, well where to start, but ultimately while guilty of not scoring enough goals, I still think he's quality, and we're pretty short on quality at the moment !! plus whatever is said about the guy, he never stops running and trying, not the type of behaviour of someone trying to exercise some sort of 'player power' ..or with the other two for that matter.
Its quite simple really .. We are where we are at the moment because with the exception of a few games this season(Bolton, Sunderland spring to mind) we have been unable to convert the possesion and chances we've created into goals and points.
So forgive me for saying but devising this 'player power' therory is somewhat delusional, especailly when it inolves our goalkeeper, right back (who are part of the 3rd best defence in the league) and our top scorer.
Think about it...
Tevez puts in 110% every game he plays in but he clearly is a giant chump off the pitch. So just because Suarez 'tries' on the pitch, doesn't mean he is an angel off it.
ReplyDeleteThis ain't no BNP-sponsored website, so why the focus on someone's use of the English language
ReplyDeleteAll good points Simon
ReplyDeleteDelusional is it? I don't think so, you just carry on watching our games with your head in the sand and i'll keep a little bit of perspective and realism about whats REALLY going on at the Club atm.........
ReplyDeleteI don't think we can fault our attacking play too much in this game, except we are trusting the players a little too much. We should learn something from Man U, Swansea and QPR's second goal or our own, which is about having players wait for the final delivery or be in positions to score. We try to play the ball into goal which is fair play, seeing as that's how Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea get their goals and we'd like to think we have the players who can do it, but it relies heavily on very fine margins, like Kuyt's final pass that was almost perfect for Suarez to capitalise on. Our players really have to be drilled into finishing shapes, otherwise goalkeepers are always going to stand a good chance against us and the woodwork will always deny us - the count is now 25 denials from 26 hits.
ReplyDeleteAs to why we lost, it's simple enough. In short, we missed Lucas. It is always Lucas making the important clearances our defenders miss, constantly reading potential danger. Expanding on it, we were careless. I was watching the live broadcast of the Man City match before watching the delayed telecast of our match. Man City were playing a very Rafa brand of football that ensured mostly that while we're attacking, the entire team is behind the ball and doesn't allow its backline to get wrongfooted. The goal they conceded was a typical Rafa concession too where the team trusted the rules too much to actually cater to 'accidental misses' by game officials. We were caught out for all 3 of the goals against us, Reina stood no chance for the first 2 - they were scored on our blindside. Once again, it is all about drills to make sure we don't have blindsides. 5 aside in training is great to develope understanding between the players but some things absolutely need to be drilled.
Spearing has the heart, but not the brain. With both Agger and Lucas out together, there's always that chance we would concede goalscoring opportunites and that is what happened twice in this match. I have no complaints about the attacking but for the lack of a system. The team attacked well, but they were complacent or inadequate defensively in this match, and we paid dearly.
True!
ReplyDeleteredredman, can I congratulate you on your poor grammar and punctuation, plus your discriminatory douche-baggery!
ReplyDeleteNot to mention the opinion, being repeated around here all the time, that getting silverware, even if other clubs are not that bothered about it, is more important than getting a decent league position. KD's comments about people complaining about the league position is a good point to start, when you look at how the team surrendered today.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just the money earned and the star players who want to come when you are in the top 4, its the kind of players that teams like Arsenal, with a good scouting network, get on the cheap because they are always competing near the top of the league. Even flops who come on a free transfer will make them money. Unfortunately, Kennys comments about the cup wins compared to the league seem to betray a philosophy which is well out of date and not in keeping with most modern players. He's looking like a bit of a dinosaur, to be honest.
To compound it all, there are plenty of good players who went to teams that are not in the Champions League, but our signings just are not as good as many of them.
LOL we lost becuse we missed Lucas, now that one is a real gem, if only it were that simple....
ReplyDeleteJeez, i despair, i guess we are getting what we deserve as a Club if we can't work out what our problems are then how the fcuk will we ever solve them.....?
All your points may be, technically, correct, but the main fact is that we have a different set of reasons for each different defeat and our team just seems to be good at losing. A lack of heart and intelligence seems to be the main issue in a lot of these games.
ReplyDeleteKenny said people who criticised the league position needed an intelligence check, but now he claims to have no explanation for the defeat. Maybe he is the one who needs the intelligence check. If you are going to make statements like that, you should be sure that your players are capable of backing them up, because defeats like this evening just make the manager's comments look stupid.
It's really simple to get Liverpool playing constantly good football ....
ReplyDelete- Just play your best players in a certain formation with a certain philosophy week in week out !!!!
Mitzsu, so it's Suarez's fault. Exactly what did Gerrard do in the game?
ReplyDeleteSo it's all down to Reina, Enrique and Suaerez.. ??? LOL
ReplyDeletePass the bong mate.. or lay off it .. one or the other.
Mitzsu, are you nuts or what? Don't like foreigners by the look of it. In your eyes, that 83mil that KK wasted on, is carrying the team. WAKE UP!
ReplyDeleteI never even said he angel off the pitch ?? So you agree he's inolved with Reina and Enriue in some sort of 'player power' thing going on at Liverpool ?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone noticed that all the young players that Rafa brought to the team are getting little playing time, or are not playing at all. They are much better than the players that KK bought that cost millions.
ReplyDeleteWow, you don't have a clue to the role of DM.
ReplyDeletehenderson is better??? LOL
ReplyDeleteIs that redredman or whitewhiteman?
ReplyDeleteYou cannot expect Gerrard to bail out the team everytime certain individuals decide to throw a game.....i thought he was having an okay game tbh up until the point when we literally gifted Q.P.R. those goals.......
ReplyDeletePlus i think Gerrard has done enough for this Club over the years......Suarez on the other hand has brought shame to the Club so far by his antics re Evra, hasn't hardly scored fcuk all goals this season, been selfish with his passing, not fluent with his overall play, throwing strops at the ref, diving, kicking opposition players and generally behaving like a jumped up and rebellious teen on a mission to court as much controversy as he can whilst NOT doing his job on the pitch even if he is picked week in week out.....
Just go back and have another watch of the Carling Cup final where Suarez was trying his upmost to either lose posession of the ball or avoid taking a shot.....when he clearly could have been in a position to he swerves it......its akin to acting, quite laughable really....
Its all there as way of proof IF you can be bothered to see for yourself, blatantly obvious....
Mitzsu, did you know that foreigner, Sebastian Coates, a defenceman, has more goals than your little sweet heart that cost millions, Stewart Downing?
ReplyDeleteYes LOL it is.....along with 1 or 2 others, funny isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh, you mean im funny for saying what im saying, now i get you, LOL.
Duh.....
Did not watch the game but to read the way we lost was upsetting. The one player that I always thought was rubbish is Henderson. He does not add quality to the team. He is so lost on the field most of the time.
ReplyDeleteAt least Adam can produce quality passes. And I just don't know why Kenny does not use Maxi more often and maybe even Coates rather than Carragher, who should be retiring. Even Shelvey can contribute more than Henderson (over rated by Kenny and over priced).
And Caroll just does not fit into the team. He is supposed to score goal but his positioning on the field is way off. A lazy player who does not attack the goalmouth and he wants to score!
Kenny is taking too long to sort out the team's formation and system of play.
Hahaha, now your telling me we needed a DM against relegation fodder that have been on a shite run of form and beaten by most mid table sides....
ReplyDeleteLaughable., i'll just remind you that we were not playin Barcelona or Real Madrid.....
I like the look of Coates very much, i have nothing against ANY foreign players playing for the Club, in fact i would say that they are a necssity to ANY side with serious intentions of getting into the top 4 or having a lasting success, Hamamn Hypia Riise Alonso Garcia etc etc etc all very good players with personalities that seemed to fit into the Club, nicely, NONE of them had agenda's and ALL of them gave it their best shot everytime they played.....
ReplyDeleteThats the difference....
Kindly don't talk about a man's color!
ReplyDeleteFA might decide to close this website!
No, I don't agree, as there is nothing concrete to go on but I wouldn't use a player's behaviour on the pitch as a suggestion as to how he is in the dressing room either.
ReplyDeleteNo, you are the one who needs to WAKE UP fella, we have players who are not putting it in, and that to me is worthy of some exposure......
ReplyDeleteANY player regardless of nationality....who is not fullfulling their commitments to the Club should be royally and swiftly fcuked off, and i hope that come the summer they will be.................
Kenny might have made some mistakes but tonight like so many games this season he was let down by certain individuals intent on throwing the game....that is my p.o.v. that is how i see things at the Club atm and that is the root cause of our problems this season and to a lesser extent last season esp under Roy.....
You don't agree, fine, we can agree to disagree.
He had it sorted in the second half of last season as we were the best team in the second half of last season in the league but than he was given money to spend and it has spiraled out of control since then.
ReplyDeleteA real shame really, as we were damn good in that period last season. Just don't see how we will get back to that as he has changed things dramatically in terms of tactics, personnel and mentality.
We should be holding onto 2-0 leads against the likes of QPR, with or without a first choice defensive midfielder.
ReplyDeleteThe likes of Gerrard and Adam have got a big problem when it comes to tactical discipline in midfield. They really are suspect defensively, in terms of stemming the flow.
This is simply not acceptable at all. Let's really keep our emotions in check and view this objectively. In the EPL, we need to be results driven and it starts from the winning mentality. I may sound extreme here but none of us (fans, owners, players, etc) should ever even accept a draw, not to say a loss in any competition. We need to be ruthless to win and senior management in Liverpool should put in place a strict performance management system and culture where manager, player, whoever does not perform should step down themselves or be asked to leave quickly if results don't show.
ReplyDeleteWe always talk about building a team long term but this is a cognitive bias in itself - there is no such thing as building a long term team, every EPL team is transitional and measured by its performance each week. Only after 10 years later when we look back on our achievements will we know whether we have built a good club. Kenny, while we love you as a person and past contributions, please do justice to Liverpool and step down for the next better manager to take over (regardless of whether we win the league or FA cup, which in my opinion are just red herrings if we do not win the EPL).
Please please please please please please please please sack Dalglish....it's so unbearable to listen to him...
ReplyDeletedeluded
ReplyDeleteKenny, you should stop making these excuses posed as someone else... player power! ha!
ReplyDeletedude the stuff you type is comedy gold
ReplyDeleteI've said earlier our inability to finish games off and lack of a winning mentality is one of the reasons LFC has been losing or drawing games it has just been proven once again. I don't know how many more games we might be losing or drawing due to inconsistency and lack of killer instinct but one thing for sure is were not going to finish higher than 6th . The sad thing has been KD trying to justify his signings who have taken too long to adapt and impress . I would really like to see KD start more with Shelvey and a "few more youngsters" other than Henderson a good run of games coz he has been pooor right through the games he has played and how bad can it be other than the way we already are
ReplyDeleteNo worries, we were a better team in passing and movement, and according to some past comment authors in here, that is what counts when assessing the team at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Dalglish 'can't explain?' I doubt he will ever be able to. According to him, we're great in every game, with efforts, commitment, skill all being up there, we just don't understand how the opposition manages to win.
ReplyDeleteAnother dark night of absolute humiliation and
ReplyDeleteembarrassement by Kenny Dalglish and his squad, the squad he has personally
chosen and set up for the current season. Kenny Dalglish and his squad tarnish
the heritage that Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley left for this historic club.
Kenny Dalglish and his squad are committing the biggest crime in this club's
history by molesting on this heritage. Everybody is feeling fed up by listening
and reading all the time different irrational statements by the side of Kenny
Dalglish as he can persuade first and above all himself that under him the team
is progressing! Everytime he leads this team to another humiliating and
embarrassing defeat he needs to realize that he places a gravestone to LFC
fans' dreams and expectations in all over the world to see their beloved team
returning back to where it really deserves to be! I personally can't explain it
otherwise; Kenny Dalglish is on a denial stage! He doesn't realize that by not
seeing the raw reality, that he is not a capable manager for the modernized
football and the manager who can turn the fortunes of this club around and as
long as he behaves in a selfish manner he causes a serious damage! Back in 1991
he stepped down as LFC manager in a period which that was unnecessary and now
that it is imperative to do so, why doesn't him? ISN'T THAT A REAL PROOF OF A
SELFISH, EGOISTIC, AND ARROGANT BEHAVIOR?
I TOLD YOU SO! Two wins and a KD is a hero, why could he not explain why we lost? His Boys were playing with more experienced player on the bench, its time for all supporters to be weaned from the KD legacy, he was a good player for us but not a god, he has no clue and Rafa should be brought back YNWA
ReplyDeleteYou are always an idiot in all your responses and some of us have had enough of yer dribble mate, what player power? you do not know that 'NO PLAYER, MANAGER OR INDIVIDUAL IS GREATER THAN THE CLUB' -PAISLEY. Well iknow you just started your app in supporting the Reds, for f...sake SHUT UP gO Support Chelsea thats you f..team
ReplyDeleteyer a f.. mach stop diverting the subject of the article to yer dillusional thwots yer need a shrink m...f...
ReplyDeleteYou fellas need to know that this Mitzstu is an idiot! lets not waste time replying his posts, lets discuss the gane the Liverpool Way, she is an idiot, the name suggests that its a her not him LOL
ReplyDeleteJamie I have always stated that KD is an ostrich with his head in the sand and always arrogant in his interviews, making fun of us the Supporters of LFC. Why is he not playing Maxi, Bellamy, Shevley or the Juniors? HE IS TRYING TO JUSTIFY HIS ERROR IN THE SUMMER SIGNINGS... He is a failure its a good time for him to walk the plank....Bring Rafa back
ReplyDeleteAnd unfortunately we've been doing it for years.
ReplyDeleteAnd won the Carling cup too.
ReplyDeleteSpot on! I've been saying this all season, we've been playing teams off the pitch and not getting the right results that our performances deserve. The players have been getting themselves into good scoring positions and not finding the net - more times hitting the woodwork than any other team, that's just bad luck!
ReplyDeleteAs far as Kenny getting sacked, give me a break! Wrong tactics? seriously? The facts are that we're playing, for the most part, slick, flowing pass and move football. Sometimes it's too slick, too many touches, especially around the opposition's penalty area and there seems to be either a lack of confidence or responsibility from some players when it comes to shooting. I'm not going to dwell on him too much but, when he came to Liverpool, Fernando Torres took a shot whenever he had a sniff at goal. If we had a striker with his instincts and half of his ability up until the injuries started, we'd be top of the league right now with the chances we've made. Would I have him back? 100% YES! Liverpool make more chances per game than Chelsea this season, if he's the leading striker and can get a couple of goals early in the season, his confidence flows and he'll score bucket loads, hence the reason he was our fastest to 50 and the league's record debut high scorer for a foreign player.
How would I change the team for next season?
Sign Torres or a striker with the same presence & ability but I'd prefer Torres.
Go for Walcott, he's free, fast and I rate him.
I'd sell Adam. He's too slow and clumsy and his left peg has run out of magic.
Shelvey needs more playing time, he's an arrogant sort of player as he's confident in his own ability and he has tons of ability.
Morgan, Suso, Sterling, Coady, Silva, Adjoran et al should start to get squad time and cameos to get them used to the atmosphere at the games and feel a little bit of the pressure and expectations.
And, lastly, why does Kenny rotate the team? We all saw what happened when Torres & Gerrard picked up injuries. We never had squad depth as much under Rafa's reign so our backup players weren't up to the standard of those they were filling in for. Kenny's trying to make sure we have equal quality on the bench as well as the pitch.
Liverpool can now do nothing to reach the top 4, so its better to play and give youngsters few chances. Kenny should now start playing Coates, Shelvey regularly and give Sterling and Suso a run in the first team, so that we'll more and better choices next season. Clearly this team isn't good enough to finish in top 6 and i can see even Newcastle finishing above us. It was a mistake not buying a quality striker in the January window and it has been proven again.
ReplyDeleteHe is 60 years old now, he wouldn't be able to keep up!
ReplyDelete2 things. Lack of character and absolutely awful league two standard finishing. As I watched the game I was made uncomfortable by the realisation that had United been playing QPR tonight they would have been 3 up in half an hour, we had yet to score. When we were 2-0 up i wanted more, partly because the best teams want to crush the opposition and also because we had so much of the ball that QPR looked like they wanted the game to be over. What happens instead? Well our players started to try no look passes, little flicks that were not on and other tip tap football that was not the order of the day. They had the time and space to be direct, just pass it normally cos QPR were not getting near us! Well, the inevitable happened. QPR realised that we were intent on being they got one back and we crumbled. Dalglish made it a bold statement after the debacle at Bolton, but Sunderland and now this goes to show they are not listening.
ReplyDeleteAll i can say is that liverpool players thought the match was over after the second goal from kuyt. They wanted to kill the match to that score. Thats one of the thnings i always hate abt liverpool players, they should continue playing till the end. There was 15mins of play(!) This time i won't blame Kenny for the defeat but i think he should trust his young players a lil more.
ReplyDeleteIt's the foundation to winning mate, when the players fine tune their finishing, or we buy a natural finisher, all the pass and move football will pay off - or would you rather we just hoofed it up the pitch and hoped for the best?
ReplyDeleteGetting beat by a lesser side happens now and again , and it's hard to explain , but talking about how the lads react after making it to a cup semi final etc is a joke . Conceding 3 goals in the last 20 minutes is a joke . We are not good enough , and our manager and back room staff can't explain why . So I think it's time to get people in who can . I've said it before it would be the greatest if it was Kenny who led us back to the top , but it's not gonna happen is it ? Kenny's " we'll keep doing what we're doing and see where it takes us " is pathetic , it's taking us down lower and lower week by week , and his plan is to keep doing it . Maybe with fingers crossed aye ? Kenny has said in the past he will always put the clib first and I think he always has , I think he should do that now and resign , not in shame he's give it his best shot , but come up way short , way short . We really can't go thru another season like this . I mean how many of us were confident of a win last night ? Not many me thinks , against Q P R and the state there in . The dream is over . Time for change
ReplyDeleteYou have to blame Kenny he's in charge . Only he can fix it . You can't say the players let him down , he picks the players and if they are not good enough or their attitudes are not right he should get rid of them .
ReplyDeleteThat is completely different matter. You probably didn't see the comments I mentioned. Nobody here is saying we don't need good passing and movement.
ReplyDeleteThat is completely different matter. You probably didn't see the comments I mentioned. Nonody here is saying we don't need good passing and movement.
ReplyDeleteTo all those who have been proclaiming Stevie G as the best LFC player ever and who cannot understand why he isn't given the England captaincy, here is your answer.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is a fantastic player, a phenominal footballer. However, he is not a natural leader and not a great midfielder. There is no way Man Utd with Scholes and Keane in their pomp would have let a 2-0 lead slip away against QPR.
Kenny needs to stick Stevie on the right wing or else play him behing Suarez. That way we maximise his contribution and minimise his weak points.
The team also badly, badly needs a natural leader. If we had a John Terry, Roy Keane, Patrick Viera type captain we would be top 4 without a shadow of a doubt. You need a leader to unite the team, ensure the managers will is instilled in the way the team plays, and respond to adversity when things go against you.
i jst don't blame kenny cause he actually managed to build a team who scored two goals, and the same team, i felt like, underestimated QPR. I was always angry at kenny, well i am, he could do better than that. But my point here is that in the game there was a life missing frm the players after the second goal which i ddn't like at all. In all, i agree with you, kenny lacks experience and is not worthy to be the liverpool coach we really need.
ReplyDeleteFirstly we sacrificed league with Carling cup and now with FA cup. Maybe league was never a priority this season and maybe players too wanted to win Cups rather than finishing in top 4
ReplyDeleteNo, i won't go and support Chelsea, you my friend are as blinkered as most other LFC fans who just can't accept that we have a real problem at this Club with certain players, funny how idiots like you always have to abuse other fans for having a p.o.v that doesn't tie in with your own agenda driven drivel, i suppose we should sack KD and get back Rafa back then......
ReplyDeleteLOL, what a joke some of you lot are, either blind as bats or in complete denial, laughable really.
Ditto. His tactical discipline has always been the drawback that has held back from being CONSISTENTLY good in central midfield. Simply doesn't have the patience or the 'bigger picture' awareness in the middle. A 'roy of the rovers' performance here and there simply doesn't cut it. Better off on the right or behind the front man.
ReplyDeleteNope, not deluded at all, just offering a realistic explanation as to why we are and have been flip flopping this season in the league, oh yeah, i forgot its ALL Kenny's fault, and the shit brits..........
ReplyDeleteLaughable.
Top post, Kenny needs to be fired and then slapped??? Caroline??? Downsyndrome??? Brit crap???
ReplyDeleteWay to go to support your team.......
Nice one fella. Real nice...
The subject of the article is that Kenny has no explanation as to why we lost that game......I am offering an explanation other than the usual Brit crap....sack Kenny....blah blah blah....
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like it, and don't agree, fine, funny how you choose to be abusive without offering anything constructive or vaguely yourself as an explanation of went wrong last night......
Perhaps a trip to your GP to sort out your anger issue's?
You may have a point. I'm getting increasingly concerned at the way Reina doesn't bother diving for anything any more.
ReplyDeleteHe would keep up with Adam.
ReplyDeleteJesus Christ! Now its Gerrards fault......and the old chesnut about him not being able to play anywhere other than RW or in the hole is rolled out to explain why we lost that game....
ReplyDeleteHow the hell can that be the case when we were playing some fine football and leading 2-0 with only a short period to see through, and then defensive errors by certain individuals cost us the game....
Oh yeah i forgot, Gerrard is a defender and is also the goalkeeper....so yes i guess it must be his fault.....
NOT.
The midfield play a part in defending too. You defend as a unit, you don't just leave it to the back four. The game against Bolton was all about Gerrard doing bugger all to stop the Bolton runners coming at the defence, he simply let them waltz past, along with the immobile Adam. Possibly one of the most defensively and tactically inept displays I have seen from a central midfielder for a top club, that game.
ReplyDeleteNot saying Gerrard was a key reason as to why we lost yesterday (never said explicitly that he was a key reason did I) but the midfield didn't do enough to stem the QPR and didn't do enough to protect the defence. Defence were the main reason but the midfield didn't help matters. Like it or not, he was a part of that midfield. In the last 20 minutes of the game with a 2-0 lead, EVERYONE has to be switched on and determined to see out the game.
Mate, he's been doing it ALL season......and last season under Roy also....remember the Arsenal game at home where he let the ball just roll into the net....we would have won that game had he not done that......, it was obvious as all the other supposed attempts to "protect" his goal....
ReplyDeleteFact is Reina wanted out of this Cluba long time ago, he was pissed off about Rafa being shown the door and Torres leaving in the way he did, those bonds are very close one's and this is his way of either preparing his departure from the Club as he can blame the lack of ambition etc......
Or he is hoping that Kenny will be sacked (like Roy was....) and somehow Rafa will be reinstated.....just like many of our fans.........
Agenda driven for sure, he's not alone though, you can counter in Enrique...(new recruit) Lucas.....(Rafa fan..) Suarez (new recruit...) Maxi...and possibly Dirk Kuyt also to that list....
That is why we have been flip flopping with our form....these players are playing for each other NOT for the team, what i mean by that is that they are willing to drop games in order to make certain other players look shit.....Enrique Suarez and Reina are definitely the core of this group, they want Maxi to play (note Suarez's recent comments....) and they don't want Downing....they want Suarez up front WITHOUT Carroll, they don't want Spearing to succeed becuase that will take LUCAS's place...basically we have a player clique problem which has gotten well out of control......
Those players know that Kenny is being made to look like an incompetent fool and his signings are all looking like Brit crap as others in here have termed them.....
They also know that he (Kenny) will probably get the sack for us finishing the league in such a low position......as looks like happening now.....
Goals in the letter stages of a game usually hint on a lack of fitness resulting in a lack of concentration. That will have to be adressed by the coaches.
ReplyDeleteBut there could be a simple reason behind our defeat: QPR simply wanted the three points more, because they need them more urgently. That results in a lack of maybe only 2 % in commitment, but that makes all the difference between a top side in the EPl and relegation strugglers. Without 100 % from the start until the dying end of a game you get these mixed results.
So in the end it all comes down to the character of every single player. It is a matter of character from the players, who let Kenny and the club down not for the first time this season.
You are another person who assumes that Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Swansea, WBA, Sunderland, Everton, Norwich, Fulham and others will not be 'fine tuning' at the same time as us.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to England's Golden Generation? That's right, Spain had one of their own. If people think the world is going to stand still, while we fine tune, they will have another thing coming. And, on all known evidence, i.e. results, Swansea and co are fine tuning better than us and, at the current rate, will soon be in a position to overhaul us. Everything else is subjective nonsense, results are what count and ours have not been anywhere near good enough.
Yes, and anyone else who says otherwise needs an intelligence check, although they can probably explain the loss better than he can. Those comments were embarrassing and the fact that he follows them up with comments that say he can't understand how we lost makes him look clueless and out of his depth. Which probably explains a lot of our losses.
ReplyDeletespot on. I didn't see much resistance from our midfield for the last 15 minutes last night. You wouldn't have thought that 'one of the best players in the world' was in there, that's for sure. Or a great leader. Kenny can probably take some responsibility for not putting another player in the middle or maybe putting on more defensive options than Carroll when we were 2-0 up.
ReplyDeleteI cannot debate any further with ANYONE who thinks that Gerrard was at fault for last nights result, that is (even by my standards) an astronomical stretch of the imagination.....
ReplyDeleteScapegoating our captain and a player who has just recently scored a hatrick to help win us a game.... is shameful and simply wrong!
I might have highlighted Gerrard but my overall point is to do with the midfield, which includes Stevie. The lack of control they showed in the last 15 minutes was really really poor. Yes, Enrique, Skrtel and Reina should have done better but we should never have been in that position in the first place. The midfield should have to got to grips with the game in the last 15 minutes or at least got into QPR and stemmed the flow. For the millionth time, I did not say Gerrard was a key reason for our defeat. Scoring a hat trick in the derby means nothing in the QPR game, nothing at all. Not 'shameful', simply how it is in my view, that once again, a midfield including Gerrard, failed tactically to stop the opposition from getting to our defence.
ReplyDeleteOkay fair enough, but why join in the Gerrard bashing? When in fact Gerrard had nothing to do with that IMPLOSION last night???
ReplyDeleteYou see the point is that he is yet another easy target......
The truth re our woes this season is however far from that......
Gerrard CAN play midfield, He is world class, he does drive the team forward when he can.....he does marshall the midfield.....to critisize him in the face of last nights fiasco is just wrong, totally and utterly wrong, for so many reasons on so many levels......
Put simply Gerrard is NOT the problem, the problem lies elsewhere, go figure.....
The midfield did have something to do with the way we fell apart last night. You defend from the front or at least from the midfield, otherwise it is far too easy for the opposition to get at the defence. Yes, silly mistakes from Reina, Skrtel and Enrique but the bigger picture is that the midfield lost control of the game in the last 15 minutes. You lose control of the midfield, the defence become more vulnerable. No excusing silly mistakes but there is no excusing the lack of calm and control the midfield, including Gerrard showed. In my view, its not wrong at all to criticise Gerrard (I agreed with the Gerrard criticism earlier because I agreed with it and last night, showed again how he can be tactically inept at times) and co in midfield as the midfield did nothing well in the last 15 minutes. You know what, they did nothing. When your midfield does nothing in the last 15 minutes, than you let the opposition back in the game. The midfield didn't 'see the game out', i.e., retain possession and making it difficult for the opposition to get at the defence. The game last for 90+ minutes, not 75 minutes. No good controlling the midfield for 75 minutes and letting go in the last 15+. So to conclude, whether you like to admit it or not about Gerrard, he and his fellow midfielders were a let down in the last 15 minutes and were part of the reason for the implosion in the last 15 minutes. I'll leave my point there as I don't like going around in circles. Cheerio.
ReplyDeleteChange of name maybe? I believe I recognise your writing style. ;-)
ReplyDeleteChange of name maybe? I believe I recognise your writing style. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe are the resistance.............
I am still fuming from last night, but with some perspective maybe this season isnt over yet. Chelsea must play spurs and a draw would be a fine result or a Chelsea loss would make me happy. We play Newcastle soonish so if we can get the result we close that gap substantially. We would then be around 6 points behind the Chavs and we still have to play them at Anfield. Maybe all is not lost, but if Dalglish doesn't make some smart moves very soon, he will start losing us, the fans.
ReplyDelete1. Play maxi more. Suarez needs him.
2. Time to give Shelvey a shout. Hendo is getting oodles of game time, and clearly has the skill, but he lacks a certain level of confidence. I do think Shelvey is more raw, but he believes that he is the best and craves the ball more and almost always has a pop at goal.
3. Time for a Coates/ Skertel back two and Flanno on the right if Kelly and Glen are injured.
4. We need to think about what to do with Enrique. He grates me with his hogging of the ball in the attacking third. First and foremost he must worry about defence. And secondly the bloke needs to simplify his game and not overcomplicate it at every turn.
5. Adam may be a write-off. He cant dovetail with Gerry, and Gerry is a superior player in every aspect for me.
6. Give Caroll some game time, he needs the same level of support that Suarez is getting. Im not saying he is auto starter, but we looked pretty good with him and Kuyt when Suarez was suspended.
7. Bring in a finishing coach. Rafa had a similar problem at the start of his tenure. He then hired Rushie for most of one season and we never looked back. Maybe its time to bring in Fowler. He is without a doubt the best penalty taker ive ever seen at Liverpool.
8. Get Reina to keep it together. The mofo just doesnt do enough at the moment.
Peace
Thank you - someone who finally agrees with my point about Reina (although I would have placed that higher up in your list) Totally agree.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice Dirk Kuyt sulking in the tunnel before the Stoke cup tie?
ReplyDeleteAm still angry about the match last night!
ReplyDeleteWhatever we have seen so far, the worst thing about is, if we all take our subjective opinions out of it for a moment, is that we had a pretty good run in to the end of this season. We'd given up on 4th but, after Everton, there were a lot of winnable games left for a team that was moving in the right direction and were going to be get a boost from winning a trophy. And, yet, I don't think that anyone ever felt that we would win 8 or 9 of our last 10 games. Even on the QPR post that Jamie put up yesterday, a lot of us thought a 'shock' result was on the cards. That's what is so upsetting, we were up against a team that was totally out of form, the crowd were getting on their back, we were 2-0 up and we still managed to lose. And no one is that surprised. Outside of the cup games, no one can see us putting a run of form together to even put pressure on the top 4. Last night should have seen us 3 closer to Chelsea and 2 closer to Tottenham, with those two sides to play each other this weekend, and, somehow, we did not even manage to put them under a small amount of pressure by holding onto a 2 goal lead. And our two wins in the league this year have been against Wolves, who everyone is beating badly, and an Everton side who were more concerned about Sunderland on saturday. Something is seriously wrong and, at this point, it does not really matter if we can pinpoint exactly what it is if we can see that the manager is responsible and, most shocking of all, is still trying to convince people that things are heading in the right direction. Who knows what is going on in dressing room, but what we can see on the pitch is that this is not working at all, and that is enough. Time for change!
Because of his reputation and what the club and supporters and relatives of Hillsborough owe the man, we should indulge Kenny for one more season if he brings in the FA Cup and if he can convince the board that he knows why we are so poor in the league and that he knows how to address that. Anything less and it has to be time for something new. No more looking back, we should cut ties with the past and find a new Liverpool way, based on the best of the old ways but mindful of modern football and what achieves success today, not in 1989!
Well he should've tried to explain to us how did that happen cos after all it's us who need intelliegence check. Cos we demand bit to much. I mean how dare we want our club to b higher in the league.
ReplyDeleteSorry mate, I agreed with most of your comment. But using a medical condition (special educational needs) to describe someone is a big NO NO.
ReplyDeleteCome on Newcastle thanks for the 40mm
ReplyDelete
