Andy Carroll has been relegated to the bench for the fourth time in the last five league games for today's home game with Wigan. It seems increasingly clear that Dalglish has lost confidence in his 35m signing; what other conclusion can be drawn when he doesn't start Carroll against teams in the relegation zone?
Jon Flanagan comes in to replace the injured Martin Kelly, and Jordan Henderson takes Charlie Adam's place, but the best news is that Raheem Sterling is on the bench, which hopefully means we'll get to see him in action at some point during the game :-)
Full Line-up: Reina, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson, Spearing, Gerrard, Downing, Kuyt, Suarez
Subs: Doni, Coates, Carroll, Eccleston, Sterling, Shelvey, Aurelio
I have a feeling that Liverpool win comfortably win this game, and a big scoreline is a definite possibility. The players will be smarting over the barely-believable defeat at QPR, and with the pressure well and truly on, they thought of losing or drawing this game will surely spur them on to greater heights.
Probable formation:
-------------------- Reina
Flanagan ------- Skrtel --- Carra ----- Enrique
Henderson ------ Gerrard -- Spearing ----- Downing
---------------- Kuyt ----- Suarez
Henderson on the right again? What a total waste, but even so, this team should is far superior on paper, and should smash Wigan.
Does Carroll deserve to be dropped? I don't rate the guy but how is he supposed to maintain his recent improved form if he's dumped on the bench all the time?
A 35m striker constantly on the bench? It's a laughable situation to be in, and it just underlines Liverpool's abject performance in the transfer market over the last 14 months.

Really don't like the lineup at all, would have loved to see Coates start ahead of Carragher and also thought it would be good opportunity to start Carroll.
ReplyDeletefinally sterling on bench, suso should of been there too, anyway sterling has to play some minutes like 10-15, fearing for flanagan he might make some mistakes , remember that first home game he costed us 3 points vs sunderland.. anyway win or lose our season is finished in the league wont make any difference
ReplyDeletewe will scrape a win
ReplyDeleteJaimie, United have had a £30 million striker on the bench for nearly 2 seasons now, Chelsea have a £50 million striker on the bench, City have a bench worth more than the entire Liverpool team probably. Carroll is an option not an automatic choice, the transfer fee is irrelevant, players cost what the market demands and a young strong English striker will never be a cheap option. Berbatov stated this week that Ferguson doesn't play him because he thinks he is too slow and prefers the speedy Hernandez. Yet Ferguson paid a lot of money for him just to have him as an option if necessary, it is a luxury LFC haven't had for many years, so now that we have the financial backing we can that option.
ReplyDeletecarrols lucky to be on anyones bench in the prem why do you think the strikers in the reserves are bangin on about getting off when you have two strikers who wouldnt grt you out of the second division am tellin you in forty years watchin the reds we have never had a couple of strikers as bad as these two ,cow bat backside comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteThe Cynic in me says that the only reason Sterling is on the bench is because he's been complaining.
ReplyDeleteFollowed by Dalglish's being desperate for a win and the fact that Sterling is Black all add to my lack of trust in Kenny Dalglish.
Sorry but that's how I feel :-(
Most sensible comment I've heard in a long time. I appreciate Carroll is not the player we hoped he would be and is not worth £35 million, but people need to get over the inflated price. Fact is, he is a Liverpool player, and he won't always make the starting line-up. I don't understand how people have been calling for Carroll to be left on the bench, yet when he is, KD gets criticised for it.
ReplyDeleteWhat 35£ million pounds on the bench! A 50£ million pounds player is also on the bench!!!!
ReplyDeleteWith respect, these are just excuses. How old is Berbatov?! Was Carroll bought to sit on the bench or be one of LFC's main strikers? Was that the expectation when 35m was spent? City is not a comparable example, for obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteThere is far too much negativity surrounding LFC at the moment, blogs, newspaper journo's, ex players etc. Yes it's been an inconsistent season so far and yes some of the new signings have failed to live up to expectations, but we are not in any major trouble and we are playing attractive football but without the end product. We have one cup and possibly another to come and by next season Kenny will know his players and they will know him and hopefully it will be a more consistent and successful season. City have spent hundreds of millions, gone through 3 managers and only now after 4 years are they starting to see some real progress, yet they are still not certain of winning anything at all this season and they collapsed in Europe too.
ReplyDeletePatience is what we need, not negativity and knee jerk reactions, but patience and understanding doesn't make a good blog I suppose.
So is Eccleston, so is Wisdom,Amoo,Ngoo,Silva,Sama and others all playing in the reserves, if Kenny is some sort of racist would they still be at the club like you keep getting at?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read Sterling needs the money! Got 2 girls pregnant and he is only 17 great role model!
Any one fancy carragher own goal today
ReplyDeleteSpot on if a the price of a player equalled having to be played Bellamy would never see the pitch! Carroll is an option and one of great future potential, despite what some may say or think. Liverpool is a great club but we have no divine right to win cups or titles, domestic or abroad. We are a young team and I do not mean the age of the players, we will grow with time to become successful again I'm sure. I do believe winning the Carling and hopefully FA cup is a step in the right direction. Europa league will be a good testing ground for players, tactics and will be key to future successes. It would have been a dream come true to be in champions league but may have been too much too soon. Patience and time are not commodity's managers are given these days, you only have to look at Chelsea to see the results of this. It would be nice to look back at these times and say even when it was not perfect I still got behind my club, manager and team. Unlike some who would be better off jumping on the current successful club with the current star players.
ReplyDeleteAs I stated I'm cynical of his reasons not his racial preferences...kindly do me the curtsey of reading what I have wrote before typing
ReplyDeleteHow many years has it been since Stevie buried one from distance. Bad miss there
ReplyDeleteREALLY FOOLISH AND OUT OF LINE TO IMPLY STERLING IS ON THE BENCH BECAUSE HE IS BLACK.
ReplyDeleteMikearms,
ReplyDeleteThe table doesn't lie and Kenny is no different to any other manager in the premier league.
He has not excuses and is hiding behind the Cup runs for his poor purchases, tactics & substitutions.
He's had money he's had the good will of the fans for a long time.
He insults fans by telling us we need our head checking if we question the FACTS of the table.
Not in the same league as Shanks, Paisley or Fagan.
Again, read what I stated I'm cynical because of the Managers performances.
ReplyDeleteI've every right to be cynical give his statements and I quote ' It would take a hell of a player to better what we have here'.
What the fuck did Skrtel attempt to kick that one for? Moronic
ReplyDeleteFoolish post dude
ReplyDeleteWhat's the difference between an excuse and a valid reason? Berbatov being older supports my argument, he is an experienced player who you would think should play every game, Carroll is a young inexperienced player adapting to life at a new club in a new city.
ReplyDeleteYou have been going on about Kenny and Black for months! Ever since the Suarez incident, so no I don't believe you are being cynical it is how you think and what you believe!
ReplyDeleteWhen is the last time Reina saved a pen? It was a great pen, but how many has he saved in normal time for us?
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to agree with it but I don't trust Kenny Dalglish anymore.
ReplyDeleteNo the table doesn't lie,it shows we are in 7th place, not in any trouble and playing the first full season with a new manager and lots of new players. It shows us that like any other manager Kenny has made mistakes, you mention the legendary managers as if they never made any mistakes and had a great team within the first year of being at the club. In the modern era Ferguson took nearly 7 years to get United playing the way he wanted and winning trophies, why do you think Kenny should be able to do it in less than 2 years?
ReplyDeleteYour a mind reader I confess you got me there it's a fare cop.
ReplyDeleteYou might believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of god but you can't prove it.
You use the word that I believe?
FYI Belief is FAITH WITHOUT FACTS look it UP.
I'm atheist and I GO BY FACTS not hunches.
The table says we are 7th we are playing poorly and have bought badly.
Kenny says we should be happy with 7th and a Carling cup and possible FA cup.
What happened with the Suarez thing was POOR HANDLED and INSENSITIVE don't try and say it wasn't.
SO I AM CYNICAL FOR A REASON BASED ON FACTS THAT HAPPENED.
I remain cynical...
Mike, we are not in trouble?
ReplyDeleteHave you been drinking Jesus Juice?
We don't have 7 years to wait for Kenny to get it right .
Kenny is NOT a new Manager he was at Liverpool for a long time as a Player Manager Ambassador and now Manager again.
He's not new where are you going with that ?
If you believe in something you don't need facts.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't care less what you are religious or atheist you are obsessed with labelling Kenny racist or wouldn't have wrote the post.
It is an insult to Sterling and Eccleston and everything they put into getting into the first team.
ReplyDeleteNo, trouble is staring relegation in the face. Trouble is sponsors pulling out and the debt piling up. Trouble is a players mutiny. Trouble is getting battered every week 4-0.
ReplyDeleteKenny is a new manager with a new team, the fact he has history with the club helps his ideology but it's not a major factor in guaranteeing success within the first year of his official contract.
Trouble is relative to where your club is aiming to go. I would argue that trouble could also be an inability to finish off teams when you're on top and giving away what should be winning margins against teams struggling to avoid relegation after you've spent millions on the team.
ReplyDeletewow, sterling is so fast <3. That's what Liverpool needed so badly all these years, a kid with super fast legs!
ReplyDeleteWonder if Kenny will be able to explain this one....
ReplyDeleteThe struggle will be over soon.....WE ARE the resistance
Only positive, and it's a real stretch
ReplyDeleteSterling finally came on, and did well in the 11 minutes he had
No reason not to throw him in
Pace commits defenders to make rash challenges and make mistakes
Wigan worst side to play in Anfield in years, and they beat us!!!!!
Another Lost!! Foolgish is lost thats for sure!!
ReplyDeleteAny fan with an ounce of football knowledge has been screaming out for wide players and strikers who scare the life out of the opposition with pace and guile for 13 years. We went for JH, SD & AC (I can't bring myself to type their names).
ReplyDeleteToday's result against Wigan clearly shows KD is not the man to take the club forward. He did a great job as caretaker last season, and he should do the decent and respectable thing at the end of this season by resigning.
ReplyDeletebbefore everybody gets on KENNYS back ...its not his fault or the teams....its all Wigans fault for scoring two goals...otherwise we would have won
ReplyDeleteReina OUT! I feel as though my club Liverpool FC hasn't any goalkeeper. Limited shots on target from opposing teams are going in the net and Reina stands still, so still. Get him out! Doni in for rest of season and FA Cup.
ReplyDeleteLOL Mali
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the KENNY APOLOGISTS ..they'll either come out fighting or go into hiding.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting on the later COME OUT COME OUT KENNY SUPPORTERS MAKE A STAND !
Shocking performance from Liverpool, Wigan were clearly the better team at Anfield. Except for Suarez everyone was so poor though he wasn't great either , it had to be most mediocre performance from Liverpool. So many mediocre players were playing today Henderson, Spearing, Carragher, Flanagan, Downing, Kuyt, no doubt Liverpool were outclassed and outpassed. Can't believe we have lost to Wigan and QPR, the worst teams in the league. If this is the way Liverpool will play then they will be lucky to finish in top 10, now i can really see even Sunderland finishing ahead of us. Where's the progress Liverpool have made?? Kenny really needs to ask questions to himself and admit his mistakes and try to rectify them instead of making more mistake trying to justify them.
ReplyDeleteTo all my fellow fans blaming Dalglish, I urge you to see calculate the points gained/not lost had Reina made a decent save. You will see that Liverpool would have been higher in the league. A goalkeeper can make or break a game. When is the last time, that Reina made a real save? Why is Reina not trying? What's going on?
ReplyDeletehahaha- liverfools fail again
ReplyDeleteThats right try and occupy the moral high ground.
ReplyDeleteAgain please show me any post where I said Kenny was a racist. Until you have no argument
Wanna bet...they'll be thinking of more pathetic excuses ..
ReplyDeleteProgress my backside
ReplyDeleteStop trying to pass the buck! The buck clearly stops with the manager!
ReplyDeleteWe would be winning the league if we had won our games instead if losing and drawing. so things aren't as bad as it seems
ReplyDeleteNothing about moral high ground. Your cynical comments question why Sterling and Eccleston are on the bench today.
ReplyDeleteYou should think before you write cynical comments.
Sterling gave Anfield a lift today.
I was speechless after the QPR game ... I am speechless today. Wish I could say I am surprised. Odds that I am speechless next week?
ReplyDeleteI've read your post, just don't get it
ReplyDeleteWhy would you even mention skin colour?
Anyway, whatever
adapting to life at a new club and new city! massive culture shock for him eh? language barriers?
ReplyDeletePremier league is all about pace
ReplyDeleteSterling's appearance is reminiscent of Owen's appearance late on in whatever year he made his debut, albeit in a different position
And how many points have also been lost because of an inability to score goals?
ReplyDeleteThere's blame a plenty to go around but ultimately the buck stops at the top and that's with Dalglish.
LLets hope there is a resignation by tonight...if not then a sacking will do.....
ReplyDeleteIf kk really loves the club then he will admit the job is too big for him and walk away...if he's shameless then excuses will be blubering out of his mouth.
5 defeats in last 6 prem games
ReplyDeleteand your opinions of roy hodgson? should he have been sacked?
ReplyDeleteWhat a hatrick.
ReplyDeleteLEFT FOOT = Bolton
RIGHT FOOT = Q.P.R
HEADER = WIGAN
The same three sides will be fighting for promotion next season. But fair play to them they can only beat the crap thats put in front of them.
im sure he will come up with something...
ReplyDeletethis is classic! my second favourite theory on why we are underperforming this year... comedy gold!
ReplyDeleteYou know we only lost to them because they scored. its not fair they have strikers and we don't...they have wingers and mfs and we don't...they have managers and we have kk...
ReplyDeleteThank King Kenny but i believe he should gracefully step down, admit failure and take full responsibility . Slating the players will take me nowhere though i was surprised when he Henderson was picked again! for this game when Carroll and Shelvey should have definitely started
ReplyDeleteok fair enough I wont't argue with you. You say Reina has been poor I'll say "I agree". The problem is if you can see it and I can see why hasn't Kenny noticed it? incompetance maybe? If players aren't performing it is up to the man at the top to identify the problem and then find a solution. Just as Insua and Carra contributed heavily to Rafas demise without being dropped, Reina in your opinon is doing the same to Kenny....and won't be dropped.
ReplyDeleteThe sack is is deserved.
I've an excuse for the KK brigade ...we lost cos the BLACKPOOL ALONSO "Adam" wasn't playing today....trying to think of more excuses to help them...
ReplyDeletesome fans may not like dalglish at the moment and as a fan it is your desision and you are entitled to your opinion and i will respect it. what i do not respect is the comments of foolglish!
ReplyDeleteremeber, this man has done more for liverpool football club than any person who comments on this site combined. he has won us everything as a player and manager. Ok, things are not going well and everyone is entitled to their comments that he is not good enough, but to disrespect a man who has given so much to this club in good times and bad by calling him foolglish is utter disrespectful. people may not like dalglish and they dont want him as manager but have respect for possibly the greatest ever player to have graced anfield, even shankly would turn in his grave to hear liverpool fans calling one of their own in this manner.
In conclusion, like I have said before, if you dont like someone that is fair enough, but there is a way to show your dissatisfaction, if you cannot do it in a dignified manner, especially to someone like dalglish then you should really keep your comments to yourself.
this man may not be doing it for you but he came back to help the club, this man was a rock for familys through Hillsborough, he deserves better than foolglish!!!
Did you actually read what I wrote earlier? You've finally understood that I'm cynical and my reasons rather than reading what was written in the first place.I have valid reasons you mat not like them but they are based on facts. so stop trying to have the last word
ReplyDeleteMadness if you mean me then I think Roy was the wrong appointment in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI've just heard Kenny say that we were TIRED? on the BBC 5 Live interview.
ReplyDeleteKenny says it cus we had 3 games in 6 days?
ANYONE ?
At this point of time, I hope we dont win the FA cup so that KK wont have an excuse of two cups to continue for 1 more season..... :| Disappointed.....
ReplyDeleteWWe looked a wee bit tired......FFS you mean we are craap .....
ReplyDeletePlease!
ReplyDeleteWe have been pathetic in the last 2 games, but asking for the manager to step down is foolish!
Im 'tired' of his lame excuses. I'm actually fatigued at his desperation to cling to this job. I need to sit down.
ReplyDeletesorry to say but with bullsh*t excuses like that kenny needs to pull his head out of his a** stop using hendo, downing, carrol, adam, carragher opt for shelvey, sterling, suso, coady and coates or get out of our club cause we are an embarrasment to english football right now... qpr, bolton, sunderland and now wigan really really kenny
ReplyDeleteI think you are getting a bit ahead of yourself. The only saving grace now can be the FA Cup
ReplyDeleteIt's not a theory, its my observation since the beginning of the season. And just like their are Dalglish apologists, there are also a load of Reina apologists it seems. It's clear and yeh I wonder why Dalglish cannot see it. Sad times.
ReplyDeleteOK so who are we going to get as a Kenny's Replacement?
ReplyDeleteFSG must start looking now with a view changing at the end of the season.
no mate that was directed at mikearms - trying to understand why kenny deserves time and roy didnt
ReplyDeleteAnkur I agree he should stay until the end of the season then he should go.
ReplyDeleteUnless of course you think Kenny Dalglish is the man to take us to the premier league titles and champions league qualification?
Curious to hear what you have to say
Valid point, it seems as clear as day and I wonder if Daglish is even looking that way during the game. Do they not wonder how slow kick goals like Van Persie and Cisse are going in willy nilly! And Reina and penalties?!!! Let's not even go there!
ReplyDeleteYou should never want Liverpool to lose a trophy because of a manager! But the manager should go because of a rubbish league position for sure!
ReplyDeletecould we be another middlesborough? two finals and get relegated.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine Arsenal making George Graham manager again or Everton hiring Howard Kendall, Now?
ReplyDeleteNo so why KK. It is like going out again with your teenage sweetheart when you both are retired. The past is a far away place. I no longer go there!
Another lame-o performance from the lads.....playing like a bunch of strangers still....Suarez up to his usual crap frist half keep losing the ball and ruining our build up play....Reina still going AWOL.....
ReplyDeleteKenny's frustrations deepen and the reality that we have "problems" begins to dawn.....
Way too late to sort this mess out, Kenny will be a gonna soon IMO, im beginning to think it will be the only way forward from this mess, shame really but its not like he hasn't been given full backing and a decent run at it, he has, and i think he just doesn't know how to deal with the "problems" we have.....OR he does but he doesn't want to?
If he does go, i'd like to see Reina Suarez Kuyt Lucas & Maxi all shipped out with him and replaced with QUALITY players of the same standard, i'd also take a long hard look at some of the Britsh signings as 1 or 2 of them are just not good enough....
We need a clean out, a BIG one....get rid of all players who have let us down this season by underperforming and get rid of the manager who has continued playing them.......
I really don't think Kenny could be doing a worse job if he tried....
When has Reina save a shot over a certain speed this season? Someone good at statistics might be able to provide us with the answer. Reina fans , please also post here. I guarantee you will find it easier to mention an excellent save from De Gea, Sczesny, Cech and maybe even a lower team's goalkeeper before you will think of a good save by Reina.
ReplyDeleteAll you bloody KK-League-don't-matter-apologists can shove your cup-team mentality up where the sun don't shine. Enjoy xxx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fed up.
Tired, KK? You said in your pre-match conference/interview that we had one of the best, if not the best, teams in terms of fitness in the league.
An legendary but apologist manager breeds apologist fans.
Hope you are happy, KK-cup team apologists
ReplyDeleteThe FA Cup may save kenny but that depends on our league position which the way things are going we might be lucky to get 7/8th position. The buck will always stop with the manager and if the players are not good enough u have to admit ur mistake for the sake of the club. Funny we dont hear from the deluded kenny is god brigade!! Come on where are u lot....cat gotta ur tongue. I knew this waz going to happen eventually as soon as kenny spent millions on average players. But some fans were saying oh kenny will save us..spearing waz going to be the next steve mcmahon, henderson was the next gerrard adam the next alonso and downing the next steve mcmanaman....make me laugh!! On a positive note what a breath of fresh air to FINALLY see Sterling get a run out...THANK GOD!!!
ReplyDeleteOh right, so we just bought Carroll to illustrate that we can say 'oh look, we have a £35m player on the bench'
ReplyDeleteBloody hell. Apologists eh.
You are boring not cynical.
ReplyDeleteWe have been a cup team for the last 20 years!
ReplyDeleteHey guys some perspective here. ATLEAST YOU WON THE CARLING CUP. Its the kind of high fans live for. I think the seasons already a success. PLUS - there are a lot of smiles around Anfield. That counts too.
ReplyDeleteOriginal Chan, address the Reina apologists aswell, the one's who think a Goalkeeper is just there for show. Both apologists as bad as each other, and both their idols (Reina, Dalglish) should go. Liverpool FC bigger then any mortal. YNWA.
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteTouche. Though we generally tried to aim higher whereas because its KK now in charge, we have to be deliriously happy with being cup team now as suddenly CL football isn't good enough, according to the apologists
ReplyDeleteCrouchie!
ReplyDeleteJamie am with you on this one, how can people justify Carroll being on the bench by drawing Berbatov as an example of another expensive bench warmer given circumstances are very different.
ReplyDeleteAs one poster stated Berbatov has been a bench-warmer for 2 seasons now but last season United won the title and seem to be on course to win again this year and compare this to Carroll who plays for a team that has been going backwards but won the Carling Cup(yay..really fantastic)..
It simply means better players who are good enough to win the league start ahead of Berbatov and he is also better than Carrol anyway especially since he was the league top scorer last season.
Another sacked manager manager? To much chopping and changing has caught up with Kenny now injuries on top, players have no believe in themselves any more and the fans don't neither.Where as Maxi gone again? Creates and scores goals with Suarez but is tossed aside again.
ReplyDeleteThey are to tired. They have been defending him now 3 times in 6 days.
ReplyDeleteI want CL! Problem is when you don't win it and then don't win anything else for 6 years pundits, press and opposition fans start pointing out you haven't won anything for years! Seeing LFC is known for winning trophies it is a double edged sword! We either ignore the domestic cups like Rafa did in his final 4 years and put our eggs in one basket and gain CL football and just get use to being a trophy less top 4 team like Arsenal and be happy with it.
ReplyDeletebecause every liverpool fan wanted him 12 mpnths ago and if your honest so did you!!!
ReplyDeleteAh the personal insults, refuge of the lost argument
ReplyDeleteDon't you call yourself cynical?
ReplyDeleteHaving watched the game, I would agree Dalglish's excuse for the players is bang on. Our attackers did well. I think Suarez, Carroll, Downing, Shelvey and Sterling all played well, but at the same time, Enrique, Reina and Spearing looked jaded. Their focus wasn't there and they were making poor decisions all game. Carra, Kuyt and Stevie were okay, but not at their best - they just weren't very sharp. Skrtel's reflexes deserted him. Sometime last year or earlier this year, Rafa explained that without at least a week's rest, players' performances drop exponentially depending on the number of games they have to play quickly in succession. This game was case in point. Fantastic performance by Flanno, considering he hardly gets games. Only player who really had no excuse was Henderson. He put in a shift, albeit a very brainless one, and was rightfully subbed off at halftime.
ReplyDeleteWe need to see more of Shelvey and Sterling seeing as we just about have nothing left to play for in the league - these 2 are potentially world class. All of Shelvey's passes are well picked and his range of passing is pretty good - I would pick him ahead of Adam or Henderson in central midfield anyday. Although Downing had a pretty good game, Sterling puts him to shame - much better idea what to do with the ball at his feet. These 2 also have superior spatial sense/movement than most of our senior players.
The only thing we can truly fault Kenny for in this game, that I've been on about for a couple of weeks now, is that we never have enough players waiting for the final delivery. In open play, we are always short of players in scoring positions. The commentators seemed to finally pick up on it and were highlighting it throughout the telecast; that we hardly ever do so this season, which is why despite having 240 shots at goal, our scoring ratio is poor.
KK and Rafa find it hard to juggle cup competition and league as illustrated by their success in one and failure in the other, so its no surprise that have both have come out with the 'fatigue' excuse. Its like they are the only managers to have juggle different competitions(!)
ReplyDeleteWin those games and get a point from Sunderland and we are 3 points off 4th place. We haven't even been good enough to take advantage of our opponents dire results. Arsenal are 16 points ahead of us? After all they've been through? And people were wondering if Wenger was still the right man for the job? Although, i admit, i wasn't one of them. It's not just the league position, it is the performances and the way that we are losing and the teams we are losing to. Teams who are getting nowhere in their games against anyone else. Bolton, hardly any home wins until we showed up, QPR were in terrible form, Wigan, 4 wins all season until we gifted them the win. You can take losing at Old Trafford or at home to Arsenal, but not these kind of results, not when the team should be motivated to move up the table. Or playing for their places in the cup games. No tactics, no motivation, poor team selection, and increasingly deluded excuses afterwards. We are displaying all the signs of a team in freefall where the manager has lost control.
ReplyDeleteI've a lot of respect for what Kenny has done for the club and hope this doesn't turn ugly. He has to stand down for the good of the club and his own reputation. He clearly cannot cut it in modern football and is looking totally out of his depth and, worse, stubborn. He won't change his ways now and he would need to if the club is ever going to get anywhere with him in charge.
No we didn't, many of us were concerned that he was not the man to take the job, even if Hodgson had to go.
ReplyDeleteFor that reason, I would not go back with Benitez, either, the club has to move forward and start a new era, with someone who will look at the squad, its tactics and everything from new signings to youth players with a new set of eyes. I still say that Martin O'Neill would knock the complacency out of the team and would get the players playing to their strengths. He would ensure that no one is guaranteed their place and has no problems promoting younger players. Look what he did with Mclean at Sunderland, after Bruce had him in the reserves for ages.
It's crazy, The top 5 teams in the league have been playing 3 games a week on a number of occasions. And with Arsenal's upheaval and their sales in the summer, there is no way that any Liverpool supporter should accept them being 16 points ahead of us. Van Persie, their 2.5 million signing, or not. We have 57 million worth of strikers to call on and, considering tiredness was the excuse, there is no reason why Carroll could not have played today. If Kenny has given up on him then he should already have some answering to do.
ReplyDeleteApparently, according to the apologists, we have progressed because we have more of a squad to call on than we had in the past, so how many changes did Kenny make for the visit of a team who were 19th in the league? So why not change our left back? Why not put our record signing in? Why give Sterling such a short run out? Wasn't Kuyt complaining that he wasn't playing enough the other day? Why would he be so poor? How many times was Downing on the bench recently? It's not as if Gerrard and Spearing have been at it all season either?
It's all been pretty poor recently, but the excuses are the give away that the current management do not know what they are doing.
IMO Hendersen,Carrol and Downing should be featuring in all the remaining matches. With no 4th spot hope, these trio should be fielded and be told to play their best SO THAT WE CAN HAVE POTENTIAL BUYERS in the summer.King Kenny should be ready to sell all of them and if not possible then we should slash their weekly wages and loan them to any Championship club.
ReplyDeleteI think its high time Doni should be given a chance.Yes IMO I think he should start a some matches. We just have to take all our remaining matches as our summer pre-matches, preparing for the new season.Reina most times is not really serious as he use to be
ReplyDelete
