Despite Liverpool's goalscoring problems this season, Charlie Adam recently argued that the club does not need to sign another striker. I doubt many fans would agree with that, especially when you consider that Kenny Dalglish's expensively assembled squad has only scored 33 league goals this season, which is the same number of goals Arsenal's Robin Van Persie has scored all by himself (!) Clearly, Liverpool need a prolific goalscorer, and Anfield Legend Jan Molby has identified on particular player he would like to Kenny sign.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo recently, Molby - who scored 61 goals for Liverpool during his career - noted:
"If Liverpool had someone who scored 30 goals a season...then it lifts the pressure off everyone. Even if you’ve not played well but have still won 2-1, the scrutiny is far less intense.
"I’ve always been an admirer of Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao. He is a Javier Hernandez type of player...who will work extremely hard and will always be in the box scoring goals"
Colombian International Falcao - nicknamed 'El Tigre' - has an incredible goalscoring record over the last few years:
* 62 goals/6 assists in 77 games for Porto (2009-2011)
* This season: 21 goals/2 assists in 30 games for Athletico Madrid
It would probably be impossible to get Falcao at the moment, especially since he signed for Athletico only seven months ago in a €40m deal. However, if/when he becomes available again in the future, Liverpool should definitely take a look at him.

amazing player, to me kenny and suarez have to go. to bring all this trouble to the club is ridiculas. suarez's antics will not help the club and kenny for making a player feel he's better than the club! rafa will do an amazing job with the backing of our current owners. With kenny signing the players he does, for the prices he pays is not going to help the owners in turn make them spend less
ReplyDeletemy you sure are deluded.
ReplyDeleteShould have signed him or Cavani last summer or January last year, when he was at Porto, instead of bloody Carroll. Don't see Atleti letting go of him this summer, maybe could try next year.....if we can afford him and can offer CL football. Been on good form in his debut year in La Liga. Thought he was a top player at Porto.
ReplyDeleteWish I had read that last paragraph first...then I would have known not to bother reading the whole post. Yes, would be nice to have someone like this but if its "impossible" to sign him then whats the point of the article? Next!
ReplyDeleteWWith kk as manager the impossible becomes possible....who would have thought 130million spent and we'd become mid table ....kk is improving us immensely game by game ....maybe by next year we might have signed the great strikers in the calibre of ANDY JOHNSON OR BOBBY ZAMORA for 50MILLION and the progression would be complete
ReplyDeleteI Agry with you for KD, but for Suarez you are wrong, tel which top player came to LFC, after Torres , no one. All other players who came to the club are average players.
ReplyDeleteJan try and tell yr mate KENNY that cos for some reason he's decided that British midfielders are better than foreign ones. I mean who would replace Meireles,Aquilani, with Adam, Henderson. The only British player he got it right is Bellamy and he was free transfer otherwise his best buysSuarez and Enrique(not British ). YNWA
ReplyDeleteYou want Suarez to go. R u mad mate or r u related to Alex mc Taggart
ReplyDeletejust goes to show how many of you actually watch and read about spanish football. Falcao has been widely critiscised in madrid and infact was recently dropped and while he has scored a few goals he has shown nothing like the form that he showed during his time in portugal with porto. and also as stated atheltico would command a hugh fee for hm considering what they paid and while they proberly would sell him, we shouldnt buy him.
ReplyDeleteSeperatly i completely agree with charlie adam to an extenct as i believe we do need a striker but only one to play second fiddle to Big Andy. Trust me next season he will prove all you doubters wrong.... as will downing. Hendo may need a few years but also he too will prove you all wrong. One top class winger (capable of creating and scoring goals) and a back up striker is all thats needed in the summer. So dont get your hopes up of mass transfer activity in the summer coz i think you'll find it isnt going to happen.
exactly,we did the worst summer signings last year
ReplyDeleteIts his first season in La Liga and he has scored that many goals already. One of the top scorers in that league so far.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant for his debut season, even if its not as good as his time in Porto.
Don't know what your on about with the criticism. He has barely got any, apart from a few bitter media personalities based in Portugal about how Atleti isn't as big as Porto bla bla bla.
To belittle what he has done in his debut season like you have done is pathetic, when he has done really well.
Well said mate.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, well said.
ReplyDeleteAnd if a team like Madrid can pull in players like this, then there should be no problem for Liverpool, if we find the right players!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of players who will not be playing champions league next year that could make us a real force in the premier league. Apart from the elite players, who would cost too much anyway, we can buy almost any player if we are willing to pay the price. It's just a case of looking further afield sometimes and finding the elite players of tomorrow. We clearly failed in this with our recent transfers.
