Inter Milan full-back Christian Chivu has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last few months, and his Agent has now hinted that the Romanian International could be available for a transfer in the summer.
The 14m defender has been with Inter since 2007, but his chances in the first team seem to becoming increasingly limited these days.
Chivu's agent, Victor Becali, recently dismissed claims that there negotiations have begun over a contract extentension for the player, arguing that "There was no meeting with Inter Milan and we have not yet arranged an appointment".
He then made it clear that Chivu will look at other options if his time at Inter is to come to an end. He told Sky Sports:
"We're not desperate. If there is an opportunity to stay at Inter then that will be good, otherwise we'll assess other options."
Becali's comments mirror what he said in December 2011, when he confirmed:
"Manchester City or Liverpool's interest? We have not heard from any team: with Inter we'll wait, then if we do not receive any proposals from them, we'll listen to offers. I'm sure we'll find a team for Cristian
Worth a bid? Chivu is vastly experienced, and with Fabio Aurelio probably leaving this summer, he'd be good cover/competition for Jose Enrique at left back, a position where Liverpool are short of quality players.

If we would get him cheap he would be a great back-up for RB and CB
ReplyDeleteChivu at 32 is not a good option, Jack Robinson is the future!
ReplyDeletedefence is the last of our worries. lucas back next season. we desperatly should be looking and doing our best to sort out the wings once and for all. sterling and shelvey need to be involved soon as possible along with a few other youngsters. oh and were probably going to need a goalie. reina is waiting to jump ship
ReplyDeleteAt age of 32.... What will he be cover for carragher ???
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about Reina wanting out.....personally can't blame him if things are gonna get worse before better..
ReplyDeletePut him up top he'd do more than Carroll.
ReplyDelete£14m for a cover player? Have you lost your mind?! Fabio Aurelio has played what, one game this season? Spending £14m on his replacement who has maybe a couple of seasons left in him is the most ridiculous transfer rumour yet! Especially with Jack Robinson coming through and the serious deficiencies in other areas.
ReplyDeleteLike Vertonghen, he can play in a few positions in defence and midfield. Would be a good player to have in the squad, though in relation to first XI, I don't know. Certainly not young though and I think his contract ends this season or the next.
ReplyDeleteI believe £14m was what Inter paid Roma.
ReplyDeleteSorry, can't agree with you on that one. Reina hasn't really been at his best this season and I've witnessed more cheap mistakes from him this season than ever before. He has been an outstanding goalie for Liverpool but I'm afraid that he's running out of time and it may be that it's time for Liverpool to get another goalie.
ReplyDeleteExcellent from dead balls but no chance we'll sign him. Agent talk
ReplyDeleteChi Bai lu ! We take players unwanted by their own clubs. Are we wierd of a team of jerks ?
ReplyDeleteThere are many posts here about possible players being available and whether Liverpool should bid. The real question is however would any of these players be interested in coming Liverpool's way? Why would anyone want to join Liverpool at this stage?
ReplyDeleteOn a free transfer, why not?
