The Agent of exciting Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez has confirmed that he has held Liverpool are interested in signing the player.
Speaking to Calciomercato recently, Suarez's Agent, Jorge Cyterzpiler, said:
"The player has attracted interest from clubs in England and Italy.
"I have spoken with Liverpool, but Juventus and the two Manchester clubs are also watching him.
"In April I will be in Italy to discuss his future. In the summer he will certainly move on but Anderlecht won’t let him go for cheap"
The £10m-rated 23 year old has a brilliant record of 44 goals and 34 assists in 99 games for Anderlecht so far, which equates to a goal or assist every 1.2 games. Granted, the Belgian league is not the greatest in the world, but imagine if Suarez could replicate similar form in the Premier League.
Luis Suarez came from the Eredivise, which is arguably on a similar level of quality to the Belgian league, and he took to England like a duck to water. Perhaps Suarez's namesake could do the same.
Unfortunately, it looks like there may be a major stumbling block in the way of any proposed move to England. As an Argentinean national, Suarez would require a work permit, and Liverpool cult hero Ronny Rosenthal - who now works as a 'football consultant - is not confident that a solution can be found. He told Voetballkrant:
"I think the chance is small that Suarez will get a work permit. Exceptions are granted only for young talents from eighteen to twenty years, but Suarez in May will be 24. Either he must urgently play some internationals, or he will have to focus more on other leagues".

Buying him could be a like situation where Liverpool signed Leto but couldn't get the work permit and he was loaned and later sold.
ReplyDeleteI would hope Matias would show better form than Luis in PL, as currently, Luis Suarez performance is all hot air. For all that dribbling in and around the box, turning defenders inside out, etc, he still has a poor record in front of goal. Bit like Hleb, though he was a midfielder, he could carry and dribble the ball (possibly the best at the time in the league at it) but had no real killer pass.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are many good strikers able to cut it in the premier league who originated from the Belgian league.. I just can't think of one.
ReplyDeleteWould rather take a defender.. Vincent Kompany played his early years at Anderlecht and one of the toughest around. So I'm not jumping for joy over this news..
The thing about Luis Suarez is people say he is not a goal scorer but i beg to differ and his return for Ajax backs that up the difference is Suarez has to do too much work to get into a goal scoring position and at that point hes after passing out 2 or 3 defenders and is usually off balance. If we could force the ball into the box without Luis being involved I believe he could score no problem. Just a thought!!
ReplyDeleteLuis is a scorer of great goals, but he's not a goal scorer in the mould that LFC need right now.
ReplyDeleteJJust bring back Benitez and Torres and problem solved
ReplyDeleteHis form for Uruguay counters the argument that he can't finish too...
ReplyDeleteit wouldnt matter who we sign its half time at the sunderland match and i swear to god is kd blind cause adam and henderson are shocking, this team is pants we need change because kenny will play these two week in week out and thats the reason where not in forth spot, crap average players not good enough for lfc and i havent even mentioned carroll and downing,,,crap team selections bad buys rubbish results seventh place worse goal record,, who is to blame I KNOW FOUR PLAYERS AND KD,,,
ReplyDeleteNot sure this guy's scoring record is much better than the lad at Chelsea, Lukaku, and he hardly gets a game for them. Our next striker needs to be a success, now more than ever. We need to buy as close to proven quality as you can get.
ReplyDeletelets face it we need more than one striker we need a new team after tday.sell the fucking lot then not fit to were the shirt.get them all out
