What a surprise: The S*n spreading more lies about Liverpool FC...

This weekend has been one to forget for Liverpool FC, but the bad-blood between Manchester United and Liverpool seems set to continue as a result of a spurious story doing the rounds about David De Gea allegedly being spat at during the alleged half-time tunnel melee at Old Trafford on Saturday. No surprises for guessing the source of this story.

Reading through the Daily Mail's 'story' on the De Gea issue earlier, the following section stands out:

"Although it is is unclear who was responsible for the spitting, one source told The S*n: 'De Gea was making his way to the tunnel and was clearly shocked to be spat at. Obviously the players reacted angrily and both teams became involved, before stewards managed to quieten it down".

How do we know this source exists? How can the veracity of this story be proven? What is the likelihood the story is even true?!

Manufacturing false stories using 'anonymous' sources is par for the course when it comes to the S*n, but perhaps even worse than that is the Daily Mail's willingness to reprint the story, which - IMO - makes them complicit, and just as bad as the S*n.

No other credible news provider has touched the S*n's story with a barge pole. Why? Because they probably know that the story is a complete fabrication, and deliberately designed to fan the flames of discontent.

Think about it: If De Gea was spat at, do you really think that Ferguson and United's players would stay silent on the issue?! Not a chance.

I have no doubt that when Phil Dowd delivers his report on the game, there will be mention of any spitting incident, and that will be because it DIDN'T HAPPEN.

  1. THE S*# is imploding with their reporters being arrested and the Murdoch's  doing everything possible not to be charged!  Hopefully they will shut it down like the News of the World and Man U will lose their propaganda paper.

  3. The fact that people doubt this story because "The S*n" is reporting it really tells you something about that rag. "The S*n" is a disgrace, and hasn't really been a newspaper since the 1970s, its just a platform for Murdoch's prejudices (he's done/doing the same to the Sunday Times, the Times and the Wall Street Journal). One thing fans of all teams should agree on: "Don't Buy The Sun".

  6. Come on Jamie be fair, the Mail ARE just as bad as the Sun. I wouldn't line a cats litter tray with either of them for fear the poor cat might catch a case of the stupids from them

  8. If it's true (and that's a HUGE if) it wouldn't surprise me that manchester didn't say anything because of what's been going on. They probably just want everything to be over, like most of us. Still, I'd bet this is just an excuse to keep milking the Suarez-Evra debacle.

  9. Isn't it lucky none of us buys it or reads it then??? and you wonder why Dalglish won't give the media the time of day ?

  10. In relation to your second last paragraph about Ferguson, I don't necessarily agree with it. Because Ferguson hardly went public about what happened in the 'pizzagate' thing with Arsenal and didn't push for something to be done about it, despite having a pizza thrown at him (as confirmed by Ashley Cole). In fact, hardly anything was said about it by either club, directly afterwards anyway.

Maybe both Liverpool and the mancs finally just want to draw a line underneath it definitively, regardless of what happened in the tunnel.

  11. Here's another one I've just spotted on Facebook;

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! Luis Suarez has been arrested for the murder of Whitney Houston in a racially motivated attack... Eye-witness Patrice Evra says he saw Saurez kill her at least 10 times... Sir Alex Ferguson has called for the death penalty... Kenny Dalglish says he has never heard of Whitney Houston and has questioned whether she actually ever existed... Howard webb says he seen it all!

  14. Liverppol fans should look a for the video that saysthis, Keane and Viera fight in the tunnel,WE have video proof of both Keane and Scholes refusing to shake Patrick Vieira’s hand before the match, I guess he say a different tune that day? or did he believe those two should never have played for Manchester United again? So Sir Alex, worry about your own club and their actions before you worry about our’s.YNWA Luis Suarez.Tthe video can bee found on the AnfieldRedlink.

  19. Forget about all the crap its over, well until the summer. The very worrying aspect about the MATCH is the lack of leadership, guile, attitude of Gerrard.Scholes ran riot yet again with Gerrard clueless in midfield. How long do we watch these overpayed players do nothing for a once great club. The argument over the last number of years is we tend not to beat the so called lesser teams.Managers have been sacked fortunes spent[3rd highest spenders in the 5 years behind the rent boys].Gerrard was captain of England in South Africa horror shows. He is doing nothing for the team currently and should be dropped.

  20. Why do we go on about other teams? we are Liverpool F.C. Let us not be spitting our dummies  looking for excuses for not being dignified. God now the owners and sponsors had to get involved to sort our mess out. Shame they have not done it earlier. Poor leadership from Daglish. He needs to keep quiet more and learn from this, As for Suarez as I said earlier for misleading Liverpool a apology and 2 weeks fine in house the Liverpool way.

  21. No Liverpool fan would pick it up with surgical forceps - why are you reading it Jamie ?

  22. If you're referring to the Daily Mail - I don't buy it; I check it online to monitor press coverage of LFC, so I can highlight made-up stories like this when they arise.

    ReplyDelete
  23. are we surprised ? and there were people on here defending the press and jurnos, makes you laugh.

  24. Gerrard has just come back from months of injuries, are you really THAT fickle? Are you perfect everyday in your own job?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Please clarify the last line - you think that Phil Dowd will include the incident in his match report ?? That spells more trouble !!

    ReplyDelete
  26. It may be easier to pass comment by watching the matches. Gerrard tried very hard to get Liverpool going but other than Johnson, no one supported him in an attacking sense. Not saying he was marvellous but could do little more.

  27. What a sad reflection on standards within this country that this pathetic rag, and the Mail, have the highest circulation of daily newspapers. They make the News of the World look respectable !

  28. There are people defending Suarez as well, even funnier.

    ReplyDelete
  29. And Liverpool supporters say Suarez had every right to kill her cos she abused his, non existent, sister.
